We can usually find a girl's name that we love. It's the boy names that are tough. The other thing I am toying with is continuing are semi-accidental alphabet theme. Hubby and I are C&D, then we've got an E, B, and F. I feel like we should bite the bullet and give this one an "A" name. Our favorite girl name is Audrey. (Shout out to @sfgiantsgamerbabe). The jury is still out on a boy's name. We were still debating names after my son was born and in my arms. I knew his first name from the moment I convceived him, I just had to convince my husband, and then we had to figure out the middle name.
Our boy name has been decided for a while it will be Gideon Monroe For a girl we are completely undecided we both like Matilda my husband likes rose for the middle name but I'm not sold and my best friend just used it for her baby. I love the name Mila but I don't think the two m names would go well together
Our last name starts with G and my husband is a GG. My son’s name is Grayden, so he’s another GG. If it’s a boy, we may stick to another G name like Garrett but G’s are tough. Any ideas, please share! Otherwise, it will probably be Joseph Parker (JP).
For girls, there are so many: Eliana, Olivia, Anna, or Genevieve (nickname either Ginny or Evie).
Unisex: Parker (family name), Georgie, Colby.
Griffin? Gardner. Grady, Garrison. Gannon. Grant.

I don’t think we will even discuss names until we find out the sex. DD took about 5 minutes so I think we will be okay if it’s another girl. Boy names are a whole different ball game though. It took us forever to decide on one for DS - hubs seemed way pickier this go around and vetoed most everything. I’ve said from the beginning we are in trouble if it’s another boy.
We are pretty set on a name for a girl, Sophie. Boy names are hard for us too, if DD 1 was a boy our choice was Henry but since then it’s become the most popular name in our state and we have several Henry’s in our friend group. Some names that are possibilities Isaac (would be super matchy with DD’s name), Elijah (also popular) and Graham.
Since we did IVF and screening, we know we are having a girl. We plan on Ada Ward and then our long, common last name. In the South, where my family is from, we give the mom's maiden as the girl's middle name. My middle is Ward and so is my mom's. I like the name Ada because it is short and easy to spell, so the whole name isn't crazy long. It's unusual enough but not as unusual as my first name, which I love and is also an A. I also found out last year that there is an Ada Ward ancestor paired with another last name from the 1800's on my mom's side. I also like that the name doesn't sound either more "white" or "Black" since I'm white and DH is of color. When we eventually tell people they can either love it or pretend to love it, cause we're set There are also a bunch of strong women from history named Ada!
@sparkymcgeee I agree with you, it’s classic and not super common but DD’s name is Isabelle...too matchy? That’s my only concern (although I do realize one day they will have completely separate lives and people won’t know they have such matching names).
@babybytim we have a Gideon and we still love his name and get tons of compliments. It fits him. We said no name based nicknames to family and friends, but he started calling himself "Gid" a few months ago all on his own.
I know we're going to find out the sex as soon as we can so I'll probably wait until we know to think about names. It was so hard to agree on DS name! We decided on Everett Miller (Miller is my maiden name). I don't know what we'll do if we have another boy because we couldn't agree at all on any other boy names!
For a girl, we really like Aria Jane. I'm pretty sure I still like it, but I'd want to make sure there's nothing else out there. Jane is a family name so we'll probably keep that for the middle if it's a girl.
We're super stuck on names and can't agree on anything yet. We are team green so will have to come up with options for both genders. Our biggest issue is the names we love are already taken by close friends and family. For example, I always wanted to name a girl Hazel after my maternal grandmother but my cousin named his daughter Hazel. Other names off the table are Eleanor, Kya, Ella, Brooke, Lily, Layla, Mia, Vivian, Jocelyn, Evelyn, Anna, Isabelle, Charlotte, Jacqueline for girls (I'm sure I'm missing some). The only name we both like is Eleanor so far but it's one the list. For a boy we know we want to use my maiden name as either a first or middle name but can't decide on a combination yet. Girls names seem to be the big stumbling block. Another challenge for us is that the name has to sound nice in both French and English. For example we both like Charles in English but not at all in French (pronounced Charl). *sigh*

One of our options is Peter and the middle names we've come up with is Peter Thomas Peter Michael Peter John
I know people have all the feels about unisex names, but I absolutely adore them. We are team green so this baby will be named Rowan. We are still discussing middle names. I like Jane because it's a close family member's name, but not sure how Rowan Jane sounds because of the double Ns.

Why are boy names so hard? I have 2 girls, Lorelei Rose and Eleanor Kate. Rose and Eleanor are family names. It's funny someone mentioned their husband didn't like Eleanor because it reminded them of Ford's, that is the #1 reason my SO loves that name and given that it was my grandma's name it was our number 1 choice. Boy names stump me. I liked Bennet last time. I like Logan but I feel like Lorelei and Logan would only make the Gilmore girls comments triple, lol.
@eleven_ I also love gender Neutral names, especially for a girl! Alas, my DH is beyond traditional in the names department (I think it’s because his name is kind of funky and he doesn’t like it).
@olivemomma That makes me laugh because I have such a common name which is why my kids have unique names. It seems we are always traumatized by our parents choices no matter what they choose

Truth. I have a cutesy name that I don't care for and so I go old school biblical and traditional.
We had such a hard time deciding on a name for our son it took forever to agree on one my husband was very picky. Eventually we settled on Dylan Michael. For a girl we had a ton of names we liked. Sophie. Lilly. And so many more i can't think of them right now. If we have another boy I'm not sure what we will do.
If we have a girl her name will be Iris Joy. We have loved this name for a while now. If we have a boy we are undecided on the name. We have a list of possibilities including Samuel, Alan, Miles, and Lincoln.
For a girl it will be either Emily or Amelia, middle name Day (family name). Her nickname would be Millie either way. For a boy we are a lot more torn. We are pretty set on a middle name Bartlett (another family name), but unsure of first names. Matthew, Michael, and William are top contenders right now, but I’m not sold on a lot of those nicknames.
If its a boy we like the name Jaxson Gauge If its a girl I like the name Chloe Madison and Avery Brooke, my husband wants Layla Rose or Madelyn Rose.
Why the X over the traditional spelling?
Why the XS combo? That letter combination really doesn't appear anywhere in the English language, and phonetically the S adds nothing if you already have the X.

No real reason other than it's what my husband and I like. I guess technically the traditional spelling would be "Jackson", but was later shortened to Jaxon by someone wanting a unique spelling of the name. I happened to see "Jaxson", and liked the combination.
We’ll likely use Scarlett if it’s a girl (family name). I like Reese as a middle name, but I’m not 100% sure.
Really have have no ideas for a boy name. I’m potentially using Hugh as a middle name (another family name), but it’s kind of hard to find something that flows with it.
DH and I literally did not agree on DS’s name until the day he was born. DH was determined he was going to be a fourth, and I was determined that we were not going to pass down his *awful* name. We argued about it through my whole pregnancy. We finally compromised by naming him DH’s first name + a middle name that starts with the same initial as DH’s middle name (and DS goes by the middle name). I don’t think he’s a fourth in the traditional sense, but it’s on his birth certificate, so :shrugs:
^After all that, I’m calling dibs on naming # 2.

Haha, love it! DH suggested a Jr. if its a boy... I cringed. He said he was just kidding anyways (thank goodness). Sometimes names shouldn't be passed down.. ha!
@texasmommie, I have to agree with AshVA on this one. Jackson is a good name but spelling it Jaxson is just bad. Like use the name you like but spelling really does matter. I think you should rethink it. It doesn't make it more unique. It just makes it so your kid will be correcting everyone his whole life.

Thanks for yalls concern. I've seen way worse names spelled or given to their child. Everyone has their opinion on what they name their child, and I don't think I was asking for anyone's approval.
@saltedcaramel518 I’m swooning over Scarlett. Such a pretty name! I’m pretty set on Violet if I have a girl. I guess I have a thing for the -let names!
Taken from the baby name board but this is why spelling matters:
This is a topic that comes up often here on the Baby Name Board. Creatively spelled and made up names are not well received here, and for good reason! Recently our fabulous Baby Name Board regular, @bromios, wrote out a wonderful explanation! Before you decide to invent or misspell a name please read this over.
Names are parts of language, and the way language functions is governed by rules and natural laws of phonetics. People who say, "Well all names started somewhere" are correct, but if you go back to ancient languages (Greek, Sanskrit, Akkadian, etc), you find that most names are comprised from meaningful phonemes that recur throughout the language. So there was no random flinging together of sounds at any point. This meant that there was a time when most people were wandering around with names that literally meant things like "victory of the people" (Nicodemus) in the language that the person wearing the name spoke. There were linguistic conventions about how words were combined into a name, and that is how the spellings were determined. So there's one factor. Then there is the fact that people speaking different languages with different phonetic inventories were in frequent contact. The result is that you might have a speaker of a language that has a v sound in contact with someone whose language has a b sound. Phonetically, those two sounds are extremely similar, and so a name like Basileios (Greek) might get adopted as Vasilii by speakers of Slavic languages (to name just one example). In a period of extremely limited literacy, this is how spelling and sound changes occurred and how legitimate variation in the spelling of names came to be. Also, languages have rules about how words have to end, how verbs have to be conjugated, etc, so a foreign word would be remolded to fit into the phonetic and morphological parameters of a given language.
The important thing to understand about this process is that none of it was arbitrary or anyone deciding, "I like the way this sounds/looks better." There was no individual creativity involved. Another important thing to realize is that we no longer have the excuse of being a primarily oral culture with very low rates of literacy. Also, as speakers of English, we have a massive phonetic inventory because English is such a mutt of a language. So there are really relatively few names of Indo-European derivation that we don't have the right sounds to be able to say. Random stylistic choices of individuals are not legitimate reasons to change the spelling of a word as long as it is phonetically comprehensible in the language you speak. For example, Jackson is extremely straightforward to pronounce in English and has a meaning (son of Jack). Replacing the cks with an x is completely phonetically unnecessary for pronunciation purposes and is therefore just a misspelling. It would be like someone deciding they prefer the way sed looks to said and proceeding to misspell the word in all subsequent formal and informal written communications. This decision would make that individual look like they were poorly educated and/or didn't understand the concept of spelling. The same principle applies to names. If someone were to say, "I want to name my child Sharlot," I would assume that they meant Charlotte but found the spelling to be unintuitive or too common. In the former case, this would clearly indicate a lack of quality education. In the latter case, they would be making a change to the language based on a desire to be different, which is not how the rules of language evolution work.
So that is why it matters to us how a word is spelled and not just whether we could sound it out and end up with something that sounded like a real name.
Can I love that a million times @galactickates because seriously. Name your kid what you want but you set them up for a lot of ridicule in life if you misspell their name. There's a meme going around facebook right now saying if people misspell your kids name it's because you misspelled their name. Texasmommie, I sincerely hope you have a baby girl. For your child's sake.
I’m just here to commiserate on how hard boy names are. DH and I have very different taste it seems so coming up with this big of a list is pretty impressive for us.
