@jynjer91 if you’re on FB check out the DIY Babywearing page. There are a few different ways you can make a wrap safely (stretchy, non-stretchy, water use), the current regulations in the US just mean you can’t make them to sell them.
@SweetSweetTooth I also have an absurd collection of hand me down carriers. I think I have 5 right now. Just gave one away when I realized I already had it...oops. It sounds like babies have preferences though! And you can always pass along the ones your kid doesn’t take to!
@sammierose464 we did in a sling wrap, although it was handmade so i know that is not helpful for which might work better. I will try to find a picture but it is really just a basic sling. It worked great for us, i think especially for one who struggled more with GI issues because it kept him more upright to nurse. I also like stretchy wrap-style carriers for nursing. If you go to the solly baby website they have video tutorials on several things, including nursing safely and effectively in a wrap sling.
@jynjer91 I made my own ring sling. It was very easy. I got pattern from online. Used sturdy gauze as my fabric and purchased rings made specifically for making ring sling. You can find the diy online.
I have 2 ring slings (1 cotton gauze and one a looser cotton) and a moby. Love them both for different reasons. Was given a Infantino. I didn't like it at all but DH loved it.
My husband and I both used an original Ergo with both our older boys and we really liked it. Picked up the infant insert for DS2 and found it really helpful. He loved being carried around and I especially loved when he was a bit older and I could do a back carry while grocery shopping and running errands. He would just nap on my back, it was SO easy.
We gave the ergo away to my BIL/SIL so I picked up a FTG Tula this time around and I'm super excited to try it out. Everyone I know with kids seems to rave about how much they love the tulas.
For newborns and smaller infants I absolutely LOVE the baby k-tan, especially for around the house. The wraps always overwhelmed me, but I could totally figure out the k-tan and used it quite often (especially at home, cleaning and cooking) when my boys were tiny. I snagged a cheap one on Poshmark since I gave BIL/SIL my old one.
@sarahzett Here are some of my toddler and my 5 week old niece in the same Moby wrap. I used it when I flew solo with the toddler. Once you get the hang of it, it is super quick. People on the plane were amazed at how fast I put that thing on and off and shoved the kid in it lol
And this is my DIY ring sling when my little #1 was about 3 or so months old. This was the first time we tried it on. We got better at it after this lol

I got a Boba wrap as a gift last week. DH made the best confused face when I put it on hahaha. "What are you doing? Is that a shirt?" lmao
It doesn't feel super secure at the moment by itself, but hoping with some trial and error (and an actual baby in it), I will get the hang of it.
