How far along? Appts this coming week? How're you feeling this week? GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here...
Appts this coming week? My 17-week check-up is on Tuesday (I guess it should have been last week, oh well). I think it's just the five minute check-up but I guess we'll see.
How're you feeling this week? Still feeling pretty nauseated and crappy, unfortunately... the Ovia app keeps telling me how great second tri is and I am like "Please stop I'm still vomiting every other day" BUT, I think I might have finally felt the baby move! It was the last two nights immediately after dinner (too soon after eating for it to have been gas). Yay!
GTKY: Great question -- I'll need some ideas too for TV while BFing! We still have the most recent seasons of The X-Files and Top Chef on the TV unwatched so probably starting there.
How far along? 20 weeks 4 days Appts this coming week? Nope! I'm in a 3 week stretch until the next one. How're you feeling this week? Still pretty good. Every once in awhile I tweak my sciatic nerve and walking becomes really exciting, but otherwise I feel fine. Baby is very active and was kicking me so hard on Friday night that I felt it in the palm of my hand, and DH could feel it through my belly. Such a surprise - I told him he'd have to wait at least another month/month and a half for that. She must have been situated just right. GTKY:What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? I'm hoping that the third season of The Man in the High Castle is out by the end of the year (it's being filmed now I guess), but otherwise I'm not sure if I'll start re-watching anything or what I might start that's new. Has anyone seen Chef's Table on Netflix? I'm not really a foodie but I love the way it's filmed and the stories behind these chefs' lives. If anyone likes watching cooking shows (I'm a Great British Baking Show fanatic), you'll love this!
How far along? 16 weeks, 1 day Appts this coming week? None, still two more weeks How're you feeling this week? Much better! My morning sickness has been gone for about 2 weeks now. I have more energy and I have started working out again. I've got a headache this morning but other then that feeling much better! I've felt baby girl move a few times and my bump is starting to show! (nearly a month earlier then with baby 1!) We also put the crib up and my husband and Dad started with a custom built in project for her closet- I am so excited about starting on the nursery!
I made a list of "projects" I want to get done and organized before the baby comes and I am overwhelmed!! SO much to do and time is flying!
GTKY:
What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in
early days with LO? I've been into the new ABC shows, For The People and Station 19 lately. For Netflix, my husband has been into Black Mirror- it's about technology and it's pretty crazy. A few we have watched- Bloodline, Love, Narcos..I don't think I will be watching as much TV this time around with a 19 month old and newborn LOL! With my son I definitely spent a good amount of time watching movies and shows for at least the first week or two haha.
Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014 DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.
Introducing myself as I'm new to the 2nd tri board this week!
How far along? 14 weeks, 1 day w/ twins Appts this coming week? Next general checkup is next week. We just got our NT scan results back last week and they were clear! How're you feeling this week? I finally figured out it was my prenatal vitamin that was making me SO sick. I'm guessing it was the fish oil in it since that's something I've never taken before (and don't eat fish). I switched to plant based DHA gummies and have been splitting the dose into twice a day and I'm feeling SO much better now. Still really tired and some nausea, but I definitely feel like I'm on the upswing. GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? I have actually never watched more than a few minutes of any episode of Friends, so I think that might be my go-to for maternity leave. Short and not too hard to follow since I'll be tired and busy!

How far along? 23w+1d
Appts this coming week? None.
How're you feeling this week? Sleep is
seeming to be harder to come by. I’m having
trouble getting to sleep in the first place and then when I wake up to go to
the bathroom I only seem to half sleep until my alarm goes off. Vomiting also made a comeback this week, but
oddly very little nausea which is better combination in my opinion.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home
in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix
recommendations over here... @businessWife
this is a good one! I love your GTKY
questions!!! I’ve currently been
watching the new season of call the midwife and was thinking to myself that I
might want to go back and re-watch that series, I think everything but the
current one is on Netflix. Also on my “to
binge” list is breaking bad (because I just never watched it when everyone else
did) and I would love to re-watch Grace and Frankie which is probably one of my
favorite Netflix series out there (it’s about two older women who live together
after their husbands admit they are gay and leave them for each other. The two ex-wives are like a granola-hippy
chic and the other is a retired CEO of a beauty company all the characters in
the show are so hilarious and I just love the banter, and friendship story
lines.)
In other exciting news I had like a total baby weekend. We changed our nursery theme again….we switched
to Chicago theme because we are those kind of Chicago people and came up with a
plan to paint a mural and finished putting together the furniture. I can’t wait and hope we can start with the
mural this weekend! My parents came into
town to visit and we visited the baby store and ordered our stroller and car
seat after many hours of testing and debate.
My parents told me it wasn’t from them but from my grandparents who have
both pasted and they were just fulfilling wishes. All the feels. I’m just so thankful because we wouldn’t have
been able to get anything so nice on our own with all the other expenses we are
juggling. We also went to the baby
shower venue to plan out how we would set things up, picked out invites and my
mom did a whole cute set up with options for centerpieces and tablescapes (who
knew my mom was a secret party planner…this is the same woman who did all my
birthdays at mcdonalds because it required no planning). I guess retirement changes people.

How're you feeling this week?
Good overall! At times I'm feeling a little
Motion sick but I think it's because I forget to eat. Yeah I'm the worst at being pregnant, food isn't interesting unless it's a raw veggie. Fried food aka ways sounds unappealing.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here...
Great question! We just finished Sneaky Pete season 2. I want to watch The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
I too need recommendations.
I cannot believe this is my last week in the second tri. I feel like I just started it & I am so unprepared for tri #3. Like nothing is done!! Nothing!! At least I registered at the hospital.
one pain in the butt thing that happened is my company is switching insurances and my OB doesn't take the new one. At this stage of the game i have to switch practices. Ughhhh. I hate it, cause I already feel I had to leave two doctors to go to my OB (RE switch to OB was rough on me emotionally, plus my ObGYN of years didn't take my insurance, so I've been going to his partner) and just when I'm finally bonding with this OB I have to move again. But after an all night meltdown, I told myself and DH that I'd rather this be our problem than an actual problem with the baby.
@adirat I also call total BS on the whole golden trimester
thing. Yes I feel better than the first
BUT I definitely feel way worse than before I got pregnant. So exciting feeling the baby move! It’s so hard to tell at first but I bet you’ll
be felling it more and more soon!
@sarcasticowl I love the great British baking show. I’ll have to check out Chef’s table!
@chicandbubbly you seem so far ahead of the curve with your planning
don’t be overwhelmed!
@dragonfly6191 Welcome and congratulations on your
TWINS!!! I hear morning sickness can be
worse with multiples glad the vitamin change is making a difference and
hopefully maybe just time is helping out too.
I’ve also never really watched friends I’ve seen a few episodes on
re-run when the tv was just on in the background but that might be a good one
to watch and not totally pay attention to!

How far along? 20 weeks tomorrow. Half way woohoo!
Appts this coming week? No Appointments until next Tuesday with OB, glad to take a break. Sorry was MIA last week, just took a break. Had anatomy scan last Tuesday all was well. Babies parts all work and look good so that was huge relief. I was so nervous and then stressed for days after still. So just tried to take it easy. Think I've been feeling baby move. I like to lay and watch TV and feel him at night, it is reassuring. Husband still can't feel it.
How're you feeling this week? I feel ok, tired and overwhelmed. I have been very careful with eating so far and haven't gained any weight. The scale is starting to tip up a little and my nutritionist assured me it's ok to gain some weight and I'm doing great. I never thought I'd be that person I just think all the doctor's scaring me about GD and weight has me spooked. So trying to just eat healthy and relax. Gave myself a break yesterday and ate french fries and buffalo chicken fingers as well as a few sips of a milkshake, so a lot of salt. After a few days of being more healthy scale will probably tip back down when lose water weight. Been riding my recumbant bike as well. Had doctor tell us to work on the nursery while feeling good last week so trying to make progress. Split it into a few phases as we are moving my office, and setting up a nursery and play/tv room. Phase 1 of planning is complete next phase is move office and buy daybed and glider and set up in new playroom/ tv room/ guest room. Was overwhelmed and had a few meltdowns this weekend thinking about what to buy and how expensive it all is, but I think we've decided and now just executing. Went to a friend's crawfish boil sat. I already hate crawfish so was challenging and I brought my own snack and water. One of my friends got drunk (has addiction issues and is going through divorce and hard time) and proceeded to try and pick a fight with her sister about being her 2 year old's godmother. She did this by insisting she is our godmother and I told her we weren't having one but she didn't hear us then started announcing to the whole party that she is a god mother to our child? She did this to try and rub in her sister's face. Was very weird and a little upsetting but I'm ok now. I called her yesterday to try and clear it up to make sure she doesn't go around telling people she is a godmother. She didn't take my call so I texted to clear up we aren't having a god mother. Her sister and Mom are throwing the shower for me and she is supposed to co-host? Let's hope she gets her shit together. Key with her is to stay in range with her sister and mother near, otherwise she isn't on good behavior. Hopefully she can keep it together for a couple hours for baby shower or just not come.
Still not talking to my inlaws. All is quiet on that front for now. I'm so sick of people being so crazy. Been a challenging few weeks and I'm getting where I don't want to talk to anyone. Lol might be a good strategy. Good news is my mom has been supportive and my husband has been nice too. Just not going to worry about inlaw stuff until after baby is born and we are settled.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here...
I have been watching arrested development new season. My husband is watching Black mirror and I hate it and keep having to fight him to turn it off because it's disturbing randomly and I'm already struggling with nightmares. So that was an argument this weekend. Also seems like every show or movie we watch is about TTC or having a baby. It's just so annoying I just want to relax and not think about it. I've also been watching Frasier and I'm finally on the last 23 episodes and now it's on a TTC and having a baby storyline so probably not going to watch it again. Also had to stop watching days of our lives soap because they have a pregnancy complications story line now. Switched to young and the restless and bold and the beautiful. I just watch those during day when home alone working, helps me stay working and focused if on in background.
Appts this coming week? Nothing for another couple of weeks which is a nice break
How're you feeling this week? I'm starting to feel a little achy and my feet really hurt. I was also told how great the 2nd tri is but its not the rainbows and unicorns I was promised.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here... I will finally watch The Crown. I'm gonna binge the shit out of that.

@businesswife you are a rockstar for posting these threads the past few weeks! thank you!
@dragonfly6191 I think you're the first mom with twins who I've been on this thread with. yay!
@2MomsHoping all the feels with your parents, indeed!
@coco305 glad you're doing well, even with the busy work schedule! Can't believe we're almost in our 3rd trimester!
@hottietoddy wow, that girl is drama. Hope she gets help but at least she's not the main hostess for your shower.
Actually, I'm jealous you went to a crawfish boil this weekend! But that's great you brought alternatives (they didn't have any non-crawfish boil foods?) We're actually going to a crawfish boil in a few weeks and I'm super excited even though DH doesn't eat seafood. It's hosted by his friends though and they usually prepare other cajun dishes, so he always has something to eat. One concern though is my tolerance for spicy food, which has decreased, so it'll be interesting if I can enjoy it or not.
How far along? 27w1d Appts this coming week? 3-hour glucose test and therapy appointment tomorrow morning. They snuck in my initial glucose test right before the therapy session since I'll be in the office anyways, then I get to spend the rest of the morning there getting my blood drawn. My OB said to bypass the 1-hour test since I failed it back in my 1st trimester and to just go straight to the 3-hour test. *fingers crossed* that I pass.
How're you feeling this week? Sleeping has been rough the over the past week, with trying to find a comfortable position and waking up in the middle of the night. It doesn't help when DH isn't sympathetic and comments that I need to exercise more because why am I huffing and puffing as I try to get comfortable?! It's because your baby is pushing my stomach and lungs into my ribs!!! ~@#!%&?!@#! /rant I'm also thinking about a bajillion things that have to get done and it's starting to get overwhelming. Luckily, my therapist gave me some grounding and breathing techniques at our last session so I'm trying to use them. I just have to do one thing at a time. No reason to get anxious, right? Right now, it's preparing the activities for the shower that my parents are hosting for us in 3 weeks and preparing for our trip this weekend for our friend's bachelor party. I was alone when I flew last month but this time DH will be with me. I got a new pair of compression socks and bought snacks for the plane rides and weekend. (I discovered dark chocolate Kind bars recently and they are delicious!) I'm also planning on bringing some extra pillows because I'm afraid the rental house won't have enough. With my sleeping challenges, I figure since checking in luggage is free, I might as well bring an extra pillow or two!
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here...
I think I'm about halfway through the 2nd season of The Crown. I love it, @laurad75! I hadn't had time to sit and binge the whole season though but I'm not worried about that. I'd love to rewatch Game of Thrones but we don't have HBO at the moment. I haven't seen any new episodes from the 2nd season of This Is Us but I'm afraid with the hormones and the tv show that I'd just be bawling while nursing, so maybe not the best idea. I also have House of Cards to catch up with, and I started downloading A Series of Unfortunate Events but haven't watched it yet. I'll take some notes after reading your comments and save those shows to watch! In case anyone needs recommendations, here are some shows that I loved on Netflix: Sherlock, Stranger Things, Master of None, Person of Interest, Turn (DH loves this one), Criminal Minds, Mindhunter, The West Wing, Breaking Bad, North & South, Ozark, and Parks and Recreation.
@sarcasticowl love the great British baking show!!!!!!!! Chefs table is beautiful. @jr102217 we're so close to the final tri. Are you freaking out?? Cause I'm freaking out! I'm a good way. @adirat a lot of people say 20 weeks is when it gets better. I had nausea up until then. But it had let up after I stopped progesterone at 12 weeks. @Dragonfly1226 welcome to the second tri
the second trimester is better than the first but other things happen, for me it's been cankle-city and carpal tunnel numbness in my hands all day errday
Loving all the show suggestions! I also am a fan of the Great British Bake-off - I’ll have to check out Chefs Table!
How far along? 15+5
Appts this coming week? Not til next week.
How're you feeling this week? Spring break is over, so kinda sad. Also realizing that after a week without work pants, they really are starting to get snug. Guess it’s time for the rubber band trick? Also trying to figure out the timing of the iron supplement (still). Apparently my tummy doesn’t like straight iron.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here... I may rewatch Scrubs and/or Psych. Both have many seasons and are mostly lighthearted.
20+2, feeling good! Still not sure that I’m feeling baby move which is frustrating. My placenta is posterior and I’m very naturally thin so I feel it should be no problem but I don’t know if it’s not happening or I’m just not sure and chalking it all up to digestion things.
Anatomy scan at MFM was awesome and we even got a 4D pic ❤️ TB hasn’t been letting me post pics for a few weeks now so I can’t share
netflix- hubs and I had a Godfather movie marathon this weekend. I love those movies! I also liked Ozark and plan to watch Mindhunter b/c I’ve heard great things! A couple of yrs ago we got sucked into Graceland which is about undercover DEA/FBI agents living in a house that I liked too.

So I've been admitted to the hospital. Earlier tonight's updates and possible TW so it's in the spoilers:
When I went to pee before I left work earlier this evening, there was blood on my underwear and panty liner. I paged the nurse line, told DH, and drove home, and when the urgent after-hours nurse line didn't call me back, I paged them again. There was more blood by the time I got home and finally called the Labor and Delivery number and they told me to come in, where I was brought in to their triage room. The initial exam was okay, baby's fhr was good, and my results were negative for anything odd, but I was having contractions. They wanted me to spend the night in one of their other units so then DH went home to take care of our dog and to get some things for me. Unfortunately, while he was out, they took me off the monitors so I could go pee and I bled more. I called for the nurse and she brought in the OB to check on me again. Cervix was still closed. They think my bleeding is from placenta previa, so the placenta slightly separated from the uterine wall, which may be causing the bleeding. They decided to admit me to the hospital but now within the Labor and Delivery unit. I moved from their triage room to a Labor and Delivery room across the hall.
We agreed to take the steroids shot that could help the baby if I have to deliver early, and we're still debating whether or not I should take magnesium. And we may talk to the NICU folks to learn more. But it's all so overwhelming. I'm only 27 weeks and I don't know what to expect. I was complaining about sleeping and baby shower games just half a day ago and now I'm worried that they might have to do a c-section to deliver the baby early. So early.
So I know there's nothing you all can do but I just needed to share somewhere. DH is overwhelmed too and exhausted, and we haven't called any of our family members yet. My parents are 30 mins away but with all the changing opinions, it doesn't make sense to worry them until we understand more. He's told his coworkers that he can't go into work in the morning, and I'm looking at my work to-do list and wondering if I can get all of this done in the next 24 hours in case something does happen. But all I want is my little one to stay in for at least another 10 weeks.
Anyways, it's after 1am here and I'm going to try to get some work done!
@jr102217. Oh dear! How scary! Good thing at least it sounds like you are in good hands. ❤ I'm so glad you let us know, too, because that is what we're here for. Talking about showers and symptoms and aches and pains is one thing, but saying that we're here to support each other really doesn't mean anything if the s*** hits the fan and you can't tell us. Hang in there mama!
<div class=" Spoiler">And stay put baby! We can hardly wait to meet you but we will! It's a big wide world out here, but we promise you're not going to miss anything in the next 10 weeks, nice and cozy in mommy's tummy... ❤❤❤❤</div>
@jr102217 You must be so terrified, but you're in absolutely the best place you can be. I hope they can get everything calmed down and then, maybe worst scenario is you're on bed rest. Try to rest as much as you can. Fingers crossed for you.
@jr102217 we are here for you girl. While I hope baby stays put and it sounds like that’s definitely an option- my girlfriend’s water broke and she delivered at 27 weeks 4 yrs ago. Her son is happy & healthy and has zero long term issues xoxoxo

AFM, no appointments coming up.. I am starting to feel huge and having a hard time getting comfortable... I am trying to push to get things done sooner than later, but it feels like something always has to go wrong.... the good (and sad!) news is that I finally enrolled my DD into preschool... she will be starting about a month after my due date I am not ready, even though it's only part time (2 days a week)
Binge watching? I plan to catch up on some shows I have fallen behind on. Black Mirror, new X Files, then I will probably just flail around from there, or try and rewatch GOT and/or Vikings from the beginning

@jr102217 That sounds really scary, but also that you're in really good hands and getting a lot of monitoring! I hope everything settles down, but either way just take in one day (one hour? one minute?) at a time!
AFM, 19+1, no appointments this week
Still feeling good physically and emotionally not too bad (other than that work is insane). DH and I have started looking at nursery furniture a tiny bit. We have a very small apartment, so the plan is to remove everything from the nursery (FKA "the bar room"), fix holes in the walls, paint and install doors over the next 5 weeks, and then after 24 weeks I'll feel comfortable to start buying furniture and things. I'm anti-shower, so I want to make smart decisions about what we're spending money on and what we actually have room for.
GTYK: I started watching Once Upon a Time a few months ago and got through the first season, so I'll be excited to pick that up again! I've also been wanting to watch Desperate Housewives again, I watched the first few seasons when I was in college but then fell off. DH and I are also OBSESSED with MTV's The Challenge and he bought me every season on DVD for my 30th birthday. We'll probably watch that throughout this summer and the first couple of weeks of my maternity leave when he's home with me also.

@jr102217 So sorry you are going through this and I am hoping and praying so hard that your LO stays put for 10 more weeks. Hopefully it’s just the PP. Bleeding from that can irritate the uterus and cause contractions. Please keep us updated.
@coco305 I hope you find a new OB that you love even more. I feel like we are both the unprepared people here. I haven’t even registered at the hospital yet but just went on my last tour yesterday so just made up my mind where I want to deliver. Still working on my registries and nothing major has been bought yet.
@2MomsHoping I have the same sleep issues. I am never comfortable for long and it’s downhill after getting up to pee. Now I start on the bed then transfer to the ‘cozy bump’ pillow on the floor after getting up to pee. Also thanks for the advice on the last thread. Hoping I don’t get sick again but I think now that I’ve passed the viability mark, at least at some hospitals, I get to skip the ER and go straight to the obstetric floor now if something happens. I’m sure the treatment there will be better.
@Dragonfly6191 welcome and congrats on the good NT scan!
How far along: 26+1
Appts: Nothing this week which is a welcomed break. Glucose test and next OB visit is next week.
Im feeling ok after being sick the last couple weeks. Now just dealing with regular pregnancy stuff like not sleeping well and a new level of heartburn that I never knew was possible.
GTKY: I never thought of this. Everyone makes it seems like you will have no time for anything once baby is here lol. On Netflix I liked black mirror, travelers and altered carbon but I am very into sci-fi stuff.
So silly question but just realized I don’t know when 3rd tri starts. I thought it was 28 weeks?
@jr102217 I can't even imagine. lots of hugs! Stay strong. The good news is your cervix is nice and closed, it's a good thing you are there being monitored.
Oh my goodness @jr102217 I was going to ask about your
glucose test but it sounds like so much more is going on. How scary overwhelming and exhausting I guess
we really never know what is going to happen.
Don’t worry about work it can always wait just try your best to relax and
listen to the doctors, even if you do have to deliver so much can be done to
support the baby now a days, even if it isn’t ideal great outcomes come from
27week babes. I’m wishing the best for
you and safety for your little one. Be
strong mama and take it one minute at a time we are all here for you.

@coco305 &
Welcome back @hottietoddy congrats on keeping things
healthy. I was a monster of junk food
yesterday but have been making healthier choices today. No one is perfect all the time!
@laurad75 How did I miss that the crown came out with
another season…must add that to my ever growing list. I’m going to be a horrible example of screen
time usage for my future baby.
@lablover78 glad that the anatomy scan went well and so cool
you got to get a 4D pic!
@sarzee2 I’m just curious why you are anti-shower. I was super anti-shower for my wedding but
for some reason I’m super on board for the baby shower.

Bleeding didn't repeat after that last scare Monday late evening but we checked all night long. There was still a risk to deliver early so they suggested the steroid injections to help the baby's lungs and a magnesium drip to prevent cerebral palsy if I had to deliver early. So with the magnesium drip, I was on bed rest and couldn't leave the bed to even pee. Instead of a catheter though, they let me use a bed pan. (Bucket list item checked off! NOT! lol) But that was better than getting something else poked into me. We checked for fresh bleeding and luckily I was okay, but I was still having contractions every few minutes. In the morning, the drs did rounds and talked about the different scenarios and diagnoses. Afterwards, I got an ultrasound and baby was quite active!! There was enough fluid and placenta looked okay. Baby is head down and I think my placenta moved and was anterior at that moment.
DH spend the first night with me and after the morning ultrasound he went home to take care of our dog, pack some stuff for me, and get some rest. He came back in the afternoon and was there when my mom visited. She was her usual self (emotional and chaotic and dramatic) and DH had wanted to make sure he was there to help act as a buffer so I didn't stress out over her overreactions.
Throughout the day, they tested my insulin. Ironically I was supposed to have my 3hr glucose test Tues morning but it'll be rescheduled. My insulin results were good during the day, and they were checking because of a steroid side effect. Representatives from the NICU and anesthesiology came by to talk to us if the worst case scenario of delivering the baby via c-section needed to happen. It seemed less and less likely that would happen as the day progressed as I didn't bleed again and by late afternoon, the contractions had stopped. They had stopped giving me the magnesium IV so I was feeling sore and some of the pain. I couldn't tell though if the pain was from contractions, regular pregnancy soreness, or even if I had to pee or had gas. But finally they removed the monitoring machines and IV and said I could eat! I hadn't eaten by that time in over 24 hours, only drank sips of water and ice chips and had plenty to pee out due to the IV. DH went home to take care of our dog and get a good night's rest (I didn't see any point of him sleeping on the uncomfortable couch again) so he could go to work in the morning. I ate my dinner and a few hours later had to take another insulin test, which this time I failed. Oops. They ended up needing to give me an insulin shot. I was able to sleep for a few hours but then had to wake up around 1:30am for my last steroid injection and vital checks. I haven't been able to fall back asleep since so...it's 5:30am now and I'm up. LOL
I'm hoping they will be able to discharge me later today (Wednesday). My nurse said they'll probably do a non-stress test. If they discharge me early afternoon, my mom can take me home but if it's later in the afternoon, DH will be back from work and take care of me. If I have to spend another night, I don't know....well, we'll see.
I spoke to my manager at work yesterday afternoon and she was surprised I had been working remotely all day. (I didn't have much else to do while on bed rest!) She obviously has to escalate the risk of me not returning, and I'm trying to get as much done as possible to prepare in case something happens. That said, if I'm prepared now but I can still work for another 10-13 weeks, that'll be great! I'm really lucky that she's so understanding, and it helps that she just had a baby back in November and came back from leave in February (to find out that I'd be on leave soon too!).
Again, thanks for letting me share and vent.
P.S. Sorry, I initially wrote this about 12 hours ago but then got pulled away from my laptop.

@jr102217 what a relief! I was cracking up about your mom coming and being emotional and dramatic though! Sounds EXACTLY like my mother!
@2MomsHoping So my anti-shower thing...in no way meant to be offensive to anyone, I know that showers are the standard and are expected and I'm the weirdo...but I just feel like if I've made the adult decision to get married or have a baby, then I should be responsible for buying whatever I need to have those things happen. I also really dislike being the center of attention so a bunch of people spending their money to buy me a gift and dress up and come to a venue just because I've been lucky enough to get pregnant...it just feels very uncomfortable for me. And on a practical note, I live in a tiny apartment and just don't have room for things! When I was getting married people did NOT understand why I didn't register or have a traditional shower (I had a "tea" and some people brought small gifts, other's gave me cash, but most didn't bring anything). My best friend/MOH was like "How are you going to get your china?!" and I was like "I have nowhere to store 12 china place settings and I'm not going to get a storage unit for 15 years until I have a house in the suburbs with room!". For the nursery, I literally have a 6 foot by 8 foot room. I'm only buying exactly what I need right now, and hoping to buy it second hand. That way when the baby isn't using something any more, I can easily donate it or resell it and not feel bad cause I spent a lot of money on it. Ok that's the end of my rant, and hopefully I didn't offend anyone!

Hi guys- there is a big sale today on the Carter's website for up to 70% off. Lots of onsies and sets that are very low in price. I am stocking up on all the basic newborn clothes I'll need so I feel prepared. Then going to register for 3 month and 6 month clothes.
@jr102217 so glad things are a bit better and thinking of you. Here are a couple pregnancy affirmations I like 'My baby will arrive at the perfect time' and 'my body is accepting this baby and will protect it'. I am really hoping the best for you. I do have to admit due to my issues with depression and anxiety, I didn't read the full spoilers but I got the gist from other posts and thinking of you. I know it doesn't matter probably, but just didn't want to front. Although I might not be able to get into the details I am still here for support!
I hope you enjoy and get to go to the crawfish boil soon! Luckily the girl drama has subsided- whew! My friend apologized and she said she was just drunk and was embarrased. Thank goodness, so all is good and well and baby shower will be drama free. My friend makes a pasta salad and usually some dip, but I have GD so have to be very careful how many carbs and protein I get. So I brought some cheese sticks and an Amy's pizza pocket and smart water with me for the party. It was a good move and I think I'm going to keep that up just bringing options. I ate their food too, but felt much less stressed. Also sometimes I have just had some major food adversions. I go back and forth on meat and you never know what people are going to cook. I don't ever like crawfish and they especially grossed me out while pregnant, so just glad I made it through that haha.
@sarzee2 I don't think you offended, I liked to hear someone else isn't into showers that much. It sounds like you have a good plan for what works best for you and are sticking to it! I admire that. I am going to have three, but I have strongly considered having none and I'd be fine with that. The only reason I am having three is so certain groups don't have to mix. I had one big wedding shower and got a lot of stuff, but it was stressful with everyone around. We aren't talking to my in laws right now and so that stresses me out and made me consider just not having a shower. But we have plenty of other friends and family that want to be a part of celebrating and support us, so I am just not going to invite the in laws and enjoy the rest. My mom said I can just tell people 'they are going to do something separate for me'. This may not be the truth in that they are going to throw me a shower, but it may be that they give me stuff after the baby is born when we re-connect. ps- update on that, I am thinking we will make my MIL go to therapist with us after baby is born. Don't know what we'll do about SIL but they are easier to avoid and will figure out later. We don't really have much of a relationship with them anyway but I'm just not stressing about it now per my OB and therapists' instructions.
@2MomsHoping thank you for the welcome, I felt bad not posting last week. If I don't keep up as much it is just because I am overwhelmed a bit with work. I am landscape designer and it is busy in spring also we are just now getting into the nursery and playroom setup which is a big project. Then just been getting down here and there about inlaw stuff, but feeling better. I think I am just tired also and hormones are a-ragin'.
@lablover78 I hear you on the baby moving. At my last appointment they kept asking me if I could feel the movements. I think I can but it is more faint and fluttering inside. I think I can feel in with my hand in the evening on my side, but sometimes I think I just feel my heartbeat in my hands from extra blood swirling around. I think it is getting a little stronger. Last night I think I either had gas or got kicked in the VJ. Not sure but didn't feel too good, so maybe we are lucky we can enjoy a few more weeks of not very strong kicks! : )
@jr102217 What a relief!! Sounds like you might get discharged today. Thank you so much for the update. I have been thinking about you so much and hoping this is just a scare. You are in such great hands. My mom would be the exact same way too. What does the failed glucose test mean moving forward?

for you.
@sarzee2 definitely no offense here. I was the same way with the bridal shower I
hate being the center of attention I felt I was an adult and lived on my own
for at least 15yrs before getting married and it felt very weird to register
for anything because I didn’t need anything.
I ended up caving and having a SMALL bridal shower with a few friends
which wasn’t horrible but I still thought it was weird and uncomfortable. I actually surprised myself with the want for
a baby shower. I think part of it was we
ended up having to drain pretty much all our cash from the second IVF (which
was a surprise self-pay…ugh insurance), and the third IVF resulted in a loan we
are still paying off…and I also am still reeling at the price of daycare so
financially we are in a waaay different position than I would prefer (I’m a bit
of crazy person with finances) we are still a-ok to pay bills and support a
baby we do have plenty of “would likes” we simply would never buy for ourselves
and I quite frankly would love to have.
So gifts were much more welcomed, also I can rationalize that the baby
is the center of attention instead of me :P thanks for sharing whenever I have
talked about my total distain of wanting a bridal shower before literally
EVERYONE thought I was crazy. It’s nice
to know there is someone else out there!
@hottietoddy thank you for the carters tip! Sounds like I’ll be doing some online

Re: 2nd Trimester Check-in | Week of April 16th
How far along? 18+1
Appts this coming week? My 17-week check-up is on Tuesday (I guess it should have been last week, oh well). I think it's just the five minute check-up but I guess we'll see.
How're you feeling this week? Still feeling pretty nauseated and crappy, unfortunately... the Ovia app keeps telling me how great second tri is and I am like "Please stop I'm still vomiting every other day"
GTKY: Great question -- I'll need some ideas too for TV while BFing! We still have the most recent seasons of The X-Files and Top Chef on the TV unwatched so probably starting there.
How far along? 20 weeks 4 days
Appts this coming week?
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? I'm hoping that the third season of The Man in the High Castle is out by the end of the year (it's being filmed now I guess), but otherwise I'm not sure if I'll start re-watching anything or what I might start that's new. Has anyone seen Chef's Table on Netflix? I'm not really a foodie but I love the way it's filmed and the stories behind these chefs' lives. If anyone likes watching cooking shows (I'm a Great British Baking Show fanatic), you'll love this!
Appts this coming week? None, still two more weeks
How're you feeling this week? Much better! My morning sickness has been gone for about 2 weeks now. I have more energy and I have started working out again. I've got a headache this morning but other then that feeling much better! I've felt baby girl move a few times and my bump is starting to show! (nearly a month earlier then with baby 1!) We also put the crib up and my husband and Dad started with a custom built in project for her closet- I am so excited about starting on the nursery!
I made a list of "projects" I want to get done and organized before the baby comes and I am overwhelmed!! SO much to do and time is flying!
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? I've been into the new ABC shows, For The People and Station 19 lately. For Netflix, my husband has been into Black Mirror- it's about technology and it's pretty crazy. A few we have watched- Bloodline, Love, Narcos..I don't think I will be watching as much TV this time around with a 19 month old and newborn LOL! With my son I definitely spent a good amount of time watching movies and shows for at least the first week or two haha.
Introducing myself as I'm new to the 2nd tri board this week!
How far along? 14 weeks, 1 day w/ twins
Appts this coming week?
1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN
May 2017- Hysteroscopy
June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.
November 2017- Hysteroscopy
January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!
I'm blogging about it here
How far along? 23w+1d
Appts this coming week? None.
How're you feeling this week? Sleep is seeming to be harder to come by. I’m having trouble getting to sleep in the first place and then when I wake up to go to the bathroom I only seem to half sleep until my alarm goes off. Vomiting also made a comeback this week, but oddly very little nausea which is better combination in my opinion.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? We may or may not need some new Netflix recommendations over here... @businessWife this is a good one! I love your GTKY questions!!! I’ve currently been watching the new season of call the midwife and was thinking to myself that I might want to go back and re-watch that series, I think everything but the current one is on Netflix. Also on my “to binge” list is breaking bad (because I just never watched it when everyone else did) and I would love to re-watch Grace and Frankie which is probably one of my favorite Netflix series out there (it’s about two older women who live together after their husbands admit they are gay and leave them for each other. The two ex-wives are like a granola-hippy chic and the other is a retired CEO of a beauty company all the characters in the show are so hilarious and I just love the banter, and friendship story lines.)
In other exciting news I had like a total baby weekend. We changed our nursery theme again….we switched to Chicago theme because we are those kind of Chicago people and came up with a plan to paint a mural and finished putting together the furniture. I can’t wait and hope we can start with the mural this weekend! My parents came into town to visit and we visited the baby store and ordered our stroller and car seat after many hours of testing and debate. My parents told me it wasn’t from them but from my grandparents who have both pasted and they were just fulfilling wishes. All the feels. I’m just so thankful because we wouldn’t have been able to get anything so nice on our own with all the other expenses we are juggling. We also went to the baby shower venue to plan out how we would set things up, picked out invites and my mom did a whole cute set up with options for centerpieces and tablescapes (who knew my mom was a secret party planner…this is the same woman who did all my birthdays at mcdonalds because it required no planning). I guess retirement changes people.

Appts this coming week?
Yep! Reg OB check up + glucose test
And as of this week, I start going every two weeks.
@adirat I also call total BS on the whole golden trimester thing. Yes I feel better than the first BUT I definitely feel way worse than before I got pregnant. So exciting feeling the baby move! It’s so hard to tell at first but I bet you’ll be felling it more and more soon!
@sarcasticowl I love the great British baking show. I’ll have to check out Chef’s table!
@chicandbubbly you seem so far ahead of the curve with your planning don’t be overwhelmed!
@dragonfly6191 Welcome and congratulations on your TWINS!!! I hear morning sickness can be worse with multiples glad the vitamin change is making a difference and hopefully maybe just time is helping out too. I’ve also never really watched friends I’ve seen a few episodes on re-run when the tv was just on in the background but that might be a good one to watch and not totally pay attention to!

Appts this coming week? 3-hour glucose test and therapy appointment tomorrow morning. They snuck in my initial glucose test right before the therapy session since I'll be in the office anyways, then I get to spend the rest of the morning there getting my blood drawn. My OB said to bypass the 1-hour test since I failed it back in my 1st trimester and to just go straight to the 3-hour test. *fingers crossed* that I pass.
I'm also thinking about a bajillion things that have to get done and it's starting to get overwhelming.
@jr102217 we're so close to the final tri. Are you freaking out?? Cause I'm freaking out! I'm a good way.
@adirat a lot of people say 20
weeks is when it gets better. I had nausea up until then. But it had let up after I stopped progesterone at 12 weeks.
@Dragonfly1226 welcome to the second tri
the second trimester is better than the first but other things happen, for me it's been cankle-city and carpal tunnel numbness in my hands all day errday
Appts this coming week? I have an appointment on Friday!
How're you feeling this week? I'm feeling ok, but was absolutely exhausted after work today.
GTKY: What show(s) might you plan to binge / re-watch while you're home in early days with LO? Maybe all the seasons of the office?

<div class=" Spoiler">And stay put baby! We can hardly wait to meet you but we will! It's a big wide world out here, but we promise you're not going to miss anything in the next 10 weeks, nice and cozy in mommy's tummy... ❤❤❤❤</div>

AFM, no appointments coming up.. I am starting to feel huge and having a hard time getting comfortable... I am trying to push to get things done sooner than later, but it feels like something always has to go wrong.... the good (and sad!) news is that I finally enrolled my DD into preschool... she will be starting about a month after my due date
Binge watching? I plan to catch up on some shows I have fallen behind on. Black Mirror, new X Files, then I will probably just flail around from there, or try and rewatch GOT and/or Vikings from the beginning

@adirat congrats on feeling baby move!
Oh my goodness @jr102217 I was going to ask about your glucose test but it sounds like so much more is going on. How scary overwhelming and exhausting I guess we really never know what is going to happen. Don’t worry about work it can always wait just try your best to relax and listen to the doctors, even if you do have to deliver so much can be done to support the baby now a days, even if it isn’t ideal great outcomes come from 27week babes. I’m wishing the best for you and safety for your little one. Be strong mama and take it one minute at a time we are all here for you.

@laurad75 How did I miss that the crown came out with another season…must add that to my ever growing list. I’m going to be a horrible example of screen time usage for my future baby.
@lablover78 glad that the anatomy scan went well and so cool you got to get a 4D pic!
@sarzee2 I’m just curious why you are anti-shower. I was super anti-shower for my wedding but for some reason I’m super on board for the baby shower.

@lablover78 Yes, great picks and 4-D pisc! I liked Orzack, and DH and I watched Mindhunter together! Fascinating.
@safire3 yes I go by the "28 weeks starts the 3rd trimester" policy!
Hospital update (apparently I'm very wordy lol):

@2MomsHoping
So my anti-shower thing...in no way meant to be offensive to anyone, I know that showers are the standard and are expected and I'm the weirdo...but I just feel like if I've made the adult decision to get married or have a baby, then I should be responsible for buying whatever I need to have those things happen.

@jr102217 I am so thrilled to see your update. Not thrilled that you are still in the hospital but so happy things seem to be settling down and hopefully you will be discharged. Super impressive that you are taking everything in stride and even getting some work done! Major kudos. Will you have to monitor your glucose moving forward and do you think you’ll have to be on bedrest after discharge? Please keep us updated and I’ll keep sending good vibes your way that this was nothing more than a scare. FX for you.
@sarzee2 definitely no offense here. I was the same way with the bridal shower I hate being the center of attention I felt I was an adult and lived on my own for at least 15yrs before getting married and it felt very weird to register for anything because I didn’t need anything. I ended up caving and having a SMALL bridal shower with a few friends which wasn’t horrible but I still thought it was weird and uncomfortable. I actually surprised myself with the want for a baby shower. I think part of it was we ended up having to drain pretty much all our cash from the second IVF (which was a surprise self-pay…ugh insurance), and the third IVF resulted in a loan we are still paying off…and I also am still reeling at the price of daycare so financially we are in a waaay different position than I would prefer (I’m a bit of crazy person with finances) we are still a-ok to pay bills and support a baby we do have plenty of “would likes” we simply would never buy for ourselves and I quite frankly would love to have. So gifts were much more welcomed, also I can rationalize that the baby is the center of attention instead of me :P thanks for sharing whenever I have talked about my total distain of wanting a bridal shower before literally EVERYONE thought I was crazy. It’s nice to know there is someone else out there!
@hottietoddy thank you for the carters tip! Sounds like I’ll be doing some online shopping after dinner tonight! Also sometimes you just have to take a break I know I’ve been there, we are always around when you come back
