Re: PGAL check in w/o 4.11

  • Hi Yall, happy wednesday. Didn't see this started so I thought i'd go ahead.

    1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
1 early loss in dec, ended in a D&C

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
5w2. My mc started at 5.2 last time so i have been freaking all day. Obsessively checking to see if i'm bleeding, even though I know it doesn't really make sense. So I'll be happy to make it through the day, and make it through this week.

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
Symptoms are coming and going. A little bit of everything, the nausea is starting now, but mostly just when i need to eat, then it goes away. My crampiness is getting much more mild/less frequent so that's nice. My symptoms are more severe than my mc so that makes me feel better, but i know it doesn't really man anything. As far as anxiety, i feel pretty good, other than that whole 5.2 thing. I am just trying to be happy and hopeful and take it day by day. there is no reason to think this pregnancy will end.

    4. Any appointments this week?
    Nope, but next tuesday!

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Not much, just trying to lay low so i don't have to tell people i'm pg yet. I almost spilled to my parents on the phone last night but i want to wait at least a few more weeks. We'll see how it goes.

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?
I made this question and i don't know lol. I can always listen to john legend, adele, amy winehouse, and paul simon. :)

  • Yay, thank you for starting this @morgantu !

    1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
Had a MMC in the fall of last year, suspected at 7 weeks, confirmed at 9 weeks (9/18/17), tried medication, didn't work, had to have a D and C on October 9th, 2017. Also, had an early loss at the beginning of Feb, at about 4.5 weeks.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
5 weeks 5 days! I've already passed the milestone of my early loss, now it's just about getting to that ultrasound and hopefully hearing a heartbeat. It's not a personal milestone for me, but I'm excited that I'm getting so close to 6 weeks!

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
My biggest symptom today is FATIGUE. Like, I just cannot get enough sleep. I had to lie down after taking a shower because it tired me out, lol. I've had two small waves of nausea this morning but they went away after resting. I am feeling super anxious for the big time morning sickness to hit. I know it doesn't mean anything, necessarily, but it will make me feel better if it hits strongly instead of these small, coming and going waves I've been getting.

    4. Any appointments this week?
Nope! Nothing until my ultrasound on 4.24. I cannot wait.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Work is busy and boring (the worst combination) so I probably won't be bumping much today! Really looking forward to the weekend.

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?
Oh gosh, I'm mostly stuck in the 90's and early 2000's. I love Fiona Apple, Cat Power, Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, old Wilco stuff, things like that. Modern music wise I'm woefully behind, but I do like the little I've heard from Middle Kids and Jason Isbell (the only modern country person I've ever gotten into - his lyrics are devastating.)
  • 1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.

Hi, I'm Holly. I had a loss just under 7 weeks last October. I have NIR PCOS, and have been working with an RE for just over a year now.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?

4 weeks, 6 days. Just went in for my second beta this morning, and praying my numbers look OK!

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?

I'm pretty anxious, and nervous to get involved here. As paranoid as I am, I couldn't be more thankful to be here right now  <3

    4. Any appointments this week?

First beta was Monday, second was this morning. Hopefully I'll have results in a few hours.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

Thank God Spring break is over, and my work is crazy busy again! I need all the distraction I can get right now, haha. Other than that, not a lot going on.

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?

This is a tough one. My taste in music is all over the place, from Garth Brooks to Atmosphere to Eminem to Pink Floyd to Tupac lol
  • @Hollyyyyy Good luck with your second round of betas! Sending good thoughts your way! Keep us posted!
  • @maureenmce Thank you so much!
  • Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
1 Early loss prior to a healthy pregnancy. Maybe dd is 13 months. I also have a septum in my uterus which makes early losses more likely for me.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
4w5d. Nothing coming up...I’ll be happy I think when I reach 6 weeks. It just feels safer to me.

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
I’m actually feeling a lot better the past couple of days. I’ve known I’m pregnant for a whole week! But it feels like a lot longer than that.

    4. Any appointments this week?
    Not until 5/10.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Not much is going on. Giving up coffee is hell. Haha. I’ve been more tired than usual so there’s been no shame in my nap game. But mostly just hanging out with dd most of the day.

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?
I love the Beatles. Also Ingrid Michaelson, but I think most don’t know her. I like a lot of singer/songwriter type stuff that not a lot of people have heard of. I never listen to the radio so my knowledge of recent music is verrrry limited right now.
    @maureenmce Cat Power!
<3 that’s a blast from the past. I don’t normally listen to country music, but I think Jason Isbell is fantastic.

  • 1. I had a MMC in April 2016. I think we found out around 8weeks and D&C at 10. No known cause for it or our secondary infertility. I do have MTHFR A1298C mutation though.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up? By lmp 6w3d, but I think probably 6w.

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)? Not much symptoms which is making my anxiety out of control.

    4. Any appointments this week?
I have an appt tomorrow. I think just with the nurses though, not Dr. Might do bloodwork again.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Not much. I have a son in K and they have a chorus concert tomorrow night. That should be adorable.

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?
10yrs ago I would say Evanescence & Lifehouse. Now I don't know. I listen to a wide variety.
  • @Hollyyyyy yes, fx for your numbers to be sky high!
@maureenmce i feel you on the off and on nausea thing. I keep thinking "is it? Isn't it? Is this MS?" haha i have no idea. I'm sure once it's here I'll know, though.
  • 1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
*See spoiler if you're not using mobile app*

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
5 weeks today, no milestones come to mind

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
Pretty good! I'm maxing out my fat pants already, and the boobs are visibly larger. At this rate I will have legitimate cleavage by the weekend if not sooner. Sadly my tummy fluff is growing just as fast. My body is really serious about building up fat stores.

    4. Any appointments this week?
Not yet, but I do see my OB on Tuesday next week (last time I saw him was my post D&C follow-up exam).

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
We're getting ready to be called down to TX for a funeral. We said goodbye to DH's grandfather the day that I got implantation cramps  :'(

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?
Favorites are hard to pick, but I love Bad Religion, The Offspring, Daft Punk, and Chromeo. So far I've only seen two of them live.

AFM just got my 2nd beta results back, they went from 857 to 2515 since Monday. I'm so relieved. They scheduled me for a u/s on the 30th, where hopefully we will be able to see the heartbeat. I should be about 7.5 weeks then.
  • @echo-charlietango sorry to hear about your GpaIL. i hope you and he can find comfort with your family when the time comes.
@Hollyyyyy yay! glad things are looking good so far!

    4. Any appointments this week? Not until the 23rd

Having a tough PGAL day today. I keep thinking real morning sickness is going to kick in any moment but it just...hasn't yet. In fact, other than fatigue and burping, I've felt almost completely normal today, which is scary. I'll be 6 weeks on Friday and based on how early I got my BFP I feel certain I should be feeling strong morning sickness if not now, by the end of the week and it just makes me SO nervous that I haven't yet. I am SO scared of another MMC. I know symptoms don't always correlate to how things are actually going, but I would feel so much better if I felt worse, if that makes any sense. :( (Sorry for the dear diary, I'm just feeling incredibly nervous and sad and need to vent.)

@texas_t I'm sorry you're dealing with either spotting or a UTI - neither is fun.
  • @maureenmce and @mommythlegend I totally feel you on wanting to feel symptoms.  My MS with my son started at about 5 weeks and I'll be 5 weeks on Friday and so far nothing.

Yay for a good second beta!  @Hollyyyyy

  • 1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
MMC dx @ 9 weeks in early December, 2 early losses in February and March

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
4w5d.  Past my CP milestones but still 3 weeks out from my 1st loss milestone.

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
Hardly any symptoms yet, boobs a little sore and thirsty all the time.  Anxiety isn't bad at the moment but I know that as I get closer to my first ultrasound I'm going to get really anxious.  After a MMC those are scarier than bleeding to me.  Still taking tests everyday and the test line is darker than the control line now which is semi-reassuring.

    4. Any appointments this week?
Nothing until the 25th, will have an ultrasound then.  I'll be almost 7 weeks so I won't be past my loss milestone yet.  It will be reassuring to see a heartbeat but I'm hoping my OB will let me get another around 9 or 10 weeks just to make sure I've made it past the point where baby stopped growing last time.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

  • @Hollyyyyy Congrats on great news!!

@texas_t I suspect I may have a uti as well. I get one every time I’m pregnant. Very annoying. Sorry you are dealing with some spotting. I hope it disappears!

@maureenmce I know you know this, but try not to worry too much about symptoms. With DD I never got morning sickness at all and she’s perfect.

  • About MS

I read somewhere that when you’re pg you’re more likely to get MS if you get nauseated more easily -like if you’re already prone to motion sickness. The article suggested that pg women simply have more sensitive triggers for nausea.

I don’t think they went as far as talking about onset, severity/mildness, or longevity -but I thought it was interesting.

I didn’t have MS last time (or now), but I’m not prone to tummy ills either. I’m the asshole that doesn’t puke even when I have the flu (that I got in Feb and it caused an annovulatory cycle *shakes fist*).

  • @rosebud332 and @echo-charlietango Thanks for the MS advice! I do know that every pregnancy is different and some women don't get morning sickness at all and go on to have perfectly healthy babes. :) I just can't help but compare my pregnancy that resulted in my daughter (strong morning sickness) to my MMC (weak morning sickness) and make assumptions, even though I know that's not a good indicator! It's just anxiety. I did end up having some pretty strong nausea this morning which, counterintuitively, made me feel much better, haha. I just need to chill and take deep breaths until the ultrasound and stop overanalyzing every symptom (or lack thereof!) Less than two weeks to go now!

    1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.
    A mmc in 2012 at 9 weeks.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?
    6w4d

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?
Disgusting!!! Luckily managing not to puke much this time but my stomach is not happy most of the time. Also still exhausted, and still bleeding a ton, which eff that.

    4. Any appointments this week?
Had a u/s today and got to see a teeny tiny heartbeat :) I know the risk supposedly goes down to 3% after seeing it but we saw it with my loss too so it doesn't reassure me that much. And there's just so much blood still. But, trying to keep positive.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
God, my life has been weird this week. My husband and kids went on a trip to visit his mom and so I've been alone for the first time in almost five years and it's WEIRD. It's awesome, don't get me wrong, but super weird. And I've been so stressed about today's ultrasound. I feel a lot better now that it's over though!

@maureenmce -- I had strong ms with my son and almost none with my daughter. It can vary even among healthy pregnancies in the same woman. Thinking of you!! <3

ETA that I totally get that anxiety, though!!
    image

  • @Luthy ugh the bleeding must be so hard to deal with mentally. Is there a reason you have a lot, or just happens to be what's going on?
  • LuthyLuthy member
@morgantu they have no idea. I bled some with my m/c and with both my kids, but this is a LOT. But my cervix is closed and they can't figure out where it's coming from, so they're basically like, hey, uh, that's weird, good luck. Which as you can imagine is not very reassuring lol.
    image

  • @Luthy yes, it sounds terrible.  But at least things are looking Good? Hope it'll stop soon for you!
  • @Luthy Oh wow, that sounds really stressful! And they've ruled out SCH I assume? I'm glad you saw a heartbeat at least, but I really hope your bleeding stops soon! When do you go in for another ultrasound?
  • LuthyLuthy member
@maureenmce Yeah, they didn't see any SCH on the ultrasound, although there could be a little one hiding somewhere. Honestly not sure when they'll do another u/s. I'm supposed to go in in two weeks for a regular "first" appointment, which will actually be like the fourth because of this nonsense, haha. I don't know if they'll do one then. I hope so, because anxiety!
    image

  • @luthy Ugh I’m sorry about the bleeding. Glad you had a good appointment though! I hope the bleeding stops for you soon. I can only imagine the anxiety it produces.

@echo-charlietango That’s really interesting about the ms. I didn’t have it either and I’m practically immune to motion sickness and very rarely get stomach bugs. Maybe there’s some truth to that.

  • I get motion sickness from video games, driving, and boats. I've never had morning sickness. I had nausea here & there with my son. Nothing with my MMC. Nothing really with this one. Worries me! I had an appt today but just with the nurses. See Dr Mon but just for pap & stuff. No u/s scheduled yet. Cannot relax til I know if there's a heartbeat:(

    1. Introduce yourself and anything you think is important: number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es), diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.

I’m relatively new to the Bump. Was a member of the Aug 18 BMB but had a mmc, naturally in early Jan. So I didn’t really contribute all that much dealing with that. I’m also from Canada.

    2. How far along are you? Any milestones coming up?

5w. Might be a bit earlier than this though, due to longer cycles post mc and generally ovulating late. More on this below.

    3. How are you feeling (symptom or anxiety wise)?

I’ve been waiting for ms to feel like this pregnancy is real. The closest I got was on my flight yesterday. Not only was I really nauseous following turbulence but it stuck around for hours. So silly that I’m hoping for something I know will feel terrible..

    4. Any appointments this week?

Yes. Today. Earlier this week I had some spotting after being intimate with DH. It only lasted a day or so. Emailed my doc about it and had a scan taken today. The tech was visibly concerned and I found out why after speaking with my doc: she couldn’t find a sac! Apparently they would expect to see one by 5w. Now my doc needs to rule out ectopic, so I had my blood drawn and need to repeat early next week.

This is all so stressful, but I’m trying to look on the bright side. The spotting seems to have been nothing, but it’s leading to early investigation.

Best case, my longer cycles and late ovulation are throwing off the dates and I’m not really 5w along...

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here.

It’s pretty cool where I am right now but I just spent a week in Nevada and California. The sun did us some good! Makes me wonder why we don’t pack our bags and relocate to LA...

    6.GTKY: Who's your favorite band/musical artist?

I don’t really have a favourite but lately I get super nostalgic whenever Backstreet Boys or NSYNC songs come on the radio. What a simple time. I also caught myself tearing up to Titanium over lunch today. Love that song.
  • @barristerninja That does sound stressful, hopefully the scan was just too early, or someone's gearing up to be a hide-n-seek superstar

@barristerninja that is awful, hope you get some answers soon. Also, I heard nysnc and bsb yesterday and had to refrain from bursting out in dance!
  • @barristerninja Sorry you're going through this right now. FX it's just too early to see anything, and your numbers look good next week. Hang in there.
  • @barristerninja I’m so sorry you’re in limbo like this.  It sounds like there’s a good chance you aren’t as far along as they think so FX that’s all it is and everything looks good at your follow up.

  • Thanks all. Being PGAL is a whole new experience compared to last time around. The unlikely scenarios just feel more likely...

This is my first time getting blood drawn for early pregnancy. Is this common in the US? It was urine samples and ultrasound scans all the way for me last time. I only got it as an investigational measure this time around. Seems better than sitting back and hoping for the best.
  • @barristerninja Sorry you're in limbo right now, I'm sure it must be stressful. But if you have long cycles and ovulate late, there's a very good chance you aren't quite 5 weeks yet. And yes, blood draws are common in the US if you've had a miscarriage before - it's called beta testing, and it just tests to make sure your hcg levels are doubling appropriately (they should be doubling every other day.) I assume these are the blood tests you had to take. Best of luck! Hoping for good news for you soon!
  • I have a pretty strong stomach, don't get nauseous much, don't get motion sickness at all, before my first pregnancy I hadn't thrown up since I was 6. So I have to say... sadly....even the ones not prone to motion sickness can get bad ms. I had hyperemsis starting at 14 weeks.

Really freaking out this morning, guys.  PGAL brain working overtime as I am feeling not much of anything these last two days.  I know I should be happy to be feeling good.  I just need someone to talk me off the ledge here.  ugh.  Blah.
