Re: Chart Stalk & Questions - Month of April

  • I know I read briefly somewhere that you might be able to use your fit bit for tracking. I got mine all charged up and just started researching this.  Is anyone else already using theirs for tracking ovulation and could give me some pointers,  helpful hints

  • @galactickates I believe it's only newer versions of fitbit but I may be incorrect. I have a Garmin vivofit, so not even he same brand. Though, I may have to switch to fitbit. lol

  • @galactickates I looked into this briefly (don't own a fitbit but thought if it sensed temperature like the ava it might be worth getting one) and from what I read it's basically a glorified period tracker app, ie based off a CD14 O and 28 day cycle.
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • I read a buzzfeed article  (I know... totally legit lol) and they suggested to use with the tracker app Clue. I just downloaded it but from what I gathered they don't actually tie together.  They said to look at your heart rate from when you were sleeping.  I guess when you're closer to ovulating it speeds up but they didn't share the data. They compared it with opks and temping to see how accurate it was. I thought maybe some one was already doing this and could share their findings.
  • Fitbit hasn't released their tracking portion yet. I am guessing it will be Monday with their new smartwatch. It will be available to all users but interface with the new Versa (being released Monday) and current Iconic. I read in 1 article that it will work with HR to predict O. Apparently some studies have shown that RHR increases in the 2 days leading up. Not that this gives us much more of an edge over OPKs. I couldn't locate that article again last night while talking to DH.

My Alta has been on its way out anyway so I preordered the Versa and will be picking it up Monday. I'm curious to see how it compares to the other apps I've used.
  • For those of you taking supplemental progesterone, did any of your docs tell you to take a dose on O day, and then start daily use on 3dpo? Or am I just weird? My instructions say to take 1 dose on peak day and then to use daily for days 3-12.

  • My temps have been all over the place lately and it's super frustrating.

I forget, but what are the things that are supposed to help with lining and CM?  I know Pom juice and green tea right?

    *TW*

Has anyone else temped after a birth or miscarriage?  I am assuming that's why my temps are crazy.

@sparklingdiamond I know of some women on here that have temped immediately after a mc and the temps can be very erratic for a short time

As for things to help lining, pom juice is supposed to help but I've read that you shouldn't drink it after O because it may possibly cause some very small uterine contractions.  FWIW, I believe we had a grad some time ago that drank it all through her cycle without any issues.  Also, from 1-5 DPO, eating pineapple core supposedly helps with implantation.  ETA Also Red Raspberry Leaf Tea (RRLT) helps with this.  Definitely avoid post-O, this can also cause uterine contractions.

For CM, green tea is often recommended as well as evening primrose oil; if you take the EPO, I would definitely avoid taking it after O as it too can cause uterine contractions (I've read this nearly everywhere it's suggested for TTC), obviously drink lots of water and try to avoid caffeine.

  • @catlady2015 When I was seeing an RE they had me start the progesterone the day after my IUI. I think unless O has been confirmed I wouldn't start taking it because if you didn't O, it can delay O because your body will already think you did. This just happened to someone on FF.

I started temping Monday following my D&E the prior Thursday.

My chart is in the spoiler below so you can see them if you would like. They were not too much different from my previous months. I can't compare to this month yet as I'm only on CD7.
  • @catlady2015 I am instructed to do it 3dpiui. Did the doc tell you why one day and then restart later?

Yes, I had a CP in Feb, and my cycle in March was ALL crazy. My temps were nuts and all over the place, and I never got a positive OPK. I ended up just stopping my temping that cycle. But this cycle seems back to normal!

  • @suzycupcake - nope, she didn't. I wound up skipping it last night. When i was in the office, she told me to start 3dpo and the instructions on the prescription said the above. I'm just going to start at 3dpo (probably a good thing, didn't really have a temp rise today) and try to confirm O. i'll be asking to make sure it's right, but we didn't HIO a lot this cycle, so not super high hopes here.

@catlady2015 That is strange because I think (not totes sure) the pharmacy has to print the label based on what the doctor wrote on the prescription pad. Maybe the pharmacy just sucks lol because that doesn't even make any sense. I would've done the same and skipped. HIO girl, hio right meow!

  • @catlady2015 @suzycupcake My pharmacy has messed up the instructions on my progesterone prescription before. The first time I filled it the instructions to said to take it orally, but I was supposed to use it as a suppository. So, pharmacies do mess up. They actually gave me a free subsequent refill because of the error. Saved me $70!
  • @emmasemm Thank you so much for posting this. I didn't know any of it. All my doctor did was check for p 7dpiui during our 3rd iui cycle and found it to be 14 which she thought was too low for a medicated cycle. I didn't end up taking p until maybe 10/11dpiui. Last cycle, she had me start 3dpiui. Who knows if it was too low then.

I've said this before but I really wish more monitoring happened before women get to ivf to see exactly what is going on. My new worry is that 3dpiui could've been too early. Wait. Maybe that's not what you said though.

  • I need a chart stalk.  I really don't think I O'ed.  Open circles are from lack of sleep, usually resulting in my taking my temp earlier than normal.

  • @holly321 A few questions
    1. On the open circle days, were you tossing and turning a lot that night?
    2. Have you had any CM after you got the CHs?
    3. Is the coverline on your chart usually in the same range and if so, what is it?

I am inclined to agree that you haven't O'd yet but just curious on the above points.  Your post-O temps aren't really that much different than your pre-O temps

  • @lulu1180, thanks for the reply!
    1. I would say more than tossing and turning... I was literally getting out of bed several times a night.
    2. I haven't paid thar much attention to be honest.
    3. This is my 2nd cycle with this thermometer, and it reads higher than my old, so I can't really compare.  coverline last month was 98.1. But, generally, my post O temps are significantly higher than my pre-o.
  • @holly321 Yeah, then those temps are definitely not reliable!  I would venture to say you probably haven't O'd yet and to just keep doing all the things.  If your temps stay low, I have a feeling FF will take your CHs away.

  • I got a positive OPK on Saturday which would slate O for yesterday. I'm pretty sure it happened based on the fact that I felt like my ovary was exploding everytime I tried to standup/walk during the afternoon (I have never felt that before and hot damn was it painful!) and pain was gone before bed. I naturally expected this morning's temp to be up but I woke up freezing since the outside temp dropped and we were short a blanket. I took my temp and it was quite low. I've discarded it figuring it's likely not accurate. My CM is changing from egg white and slippery to more of a sticky consistency adding to my thought that I have in fact Od. Was discarding that temp the right call? Will it affect my crosshairs and where FF pins O?

FF can't decide when I ovulated. Research Detector says CD24, OPK detector says CD25, FAM says CD26, and advanced doesn't have a date yet because my past two days' temps are too low. I'm leaning toward CD26, what do you think?

Also one of my other apps says CD25, and countdowntopregnancy.com says CD24.

  • @fantasyflyte I saw your chart earlier on FF. I think you either Od on CD 25 or 26. This past cycle I got a blazing positive on CD 29 and another positive, but not as positive, on CD 30. I Od on CD 30. (I felt it.)

  • Does anyone have any experience with reoccurring ovarian cysts?
  • @prpl11butterfly Just noticed that no one else had responded to you, so thought I would throw my thoughts in. And I apologize as I don't know your back story, how long you have been trying etc.
Did you keep doing OPK's? Or did you stop after your first positive? Some get a few days of positives before they O. I would discard today's temp and see what the next few temps bring. If you add in your EWCM into your chart and temp goes up tomorrow, then FF will still likely give you CH's based on those. GL

So we were trying for 5m before conceiving in Dec. We then found out it was MMC and I had a D&E on 3/1. We are on 2m (first real) after that. I started using the app in Oct but that was a mess learning it and Dec was a mess with holiday exhaustion. Nov was my only successful month using it and now that I've had a loss, it doesnt seem to line up with whats happening now.

In Nov, I had gotten 2 consecutive + OPK. FF pined O for the day of the second so after gaining that info, I switched to just taking 1 +. I was unable to do 1 yesterday as we were at my parents all day but had I been home I probably would have. Just for kicks I did another on lunch today and it was -.  My cm has become watery again this afternoon and I'm cramping quite a bit. We are going to HIO again tonight just for safe measure.

    Thank you for your imput!
  • I'm pretty sure that I didn't ovulate at all this month. Opinions?

  • Asked in TWW but figured I'd ask here as well to reach a wider group. For those of you who take CoQ10, do you take it during the TWW?  I'm on it for migrane prevention but OB wants me off when/if pregnant. Neuro says follow OBs advice. I haven't taken it since Friday (4/5dpo) just in case but I know there are quite a few here taking it and was curious what you do.
  • @prpl11butterfly I take it throughout the cycle. I have not heard/read anywhere that it should be stopped during the TWW.
  • Thank you @nitnat007. They only told me to stop taking it during pregnancy, I didn't think to ask about tww and figured if I called to ask they would say stop JIC. They said some studies show it could decrease risk or pre-e but others show it could increase risk. I was curious what others were doing/advised. I've been doing okay off of it this time around luckily.
  • @prpl11butterfly I can also confirm that all four REs I spoke to said to keep taking the CoQ10 unless have positive HPT or beta. As eggs are recruited into the cohort for a cycle some time in advance (info varies from 6-12 weeks) then being on it the whole time from recruitment to ovulation is important. Don’t forget to check it’s ubiquinol not ubiquinone and doses for egg quality are typically much higher than for other uses.

  • @emmasemm that is new info, thank you! I am on 400mg 2x a day. I'm just thinking it's an added bonus if it helps with eggs.
  • What brand of CoQ10 are you guys taking?

Also, has anyone temped while on Provera?  I have taken it before, but apparently never temped while on it.  I temped the last two days because I wanted to be ready for CD 1.  I finished my last pill Sunday, but don't know why I had such a huge temp jump from yesterday to today.  It was 97.55 yesterday and 98.19 today.  I figured the temp would start dropping after I finished the last pill?  Typically in the past I would almost always start 3 days after the last pill (so tomorrow).
