I’m a wildlife rehabilitator and veterinary technician (think of it like a veterinary hospital for wildlife). Love my job and it’s rewarding but it’s very long hours and can be stressful.
My husbands works in parks and trail maintenance and invasive species removal.
I am currently a sahm for the last year. Before that I was a paralegal in workers’ comp. It was a good job, but stressful. I am definitely glad to be where I am now.
I’m a phlebotomist, I have been for 7 years. I did SAH a bit as week, but I’ve found a job that I am in love with. I get to travel to pretty cool places to draw blood!
I'm an accountant for a construction company (with no schooling or anything, just the job I got right out of high school).
But I wish I was an OBGYN, a teacher, a home-daycare provider, a surrogate mother, ran my own business, an interior designer or an architect, IDK, I want to go to college but I can't make up my mind and I can't stop having kids apparently.
My husband is the Service Manager of San Diego Harley-Davidson.

We moved last year and I started a little art business from home, also allowing me to stay home with my Son. I make custom watercolor portraits, house portraits, etc.
I’ve worked as a medical assistant at a podiatry office for almost 13 years. I went part time when I had my first LO. I’m hoping to become a SAHM after this pregnancy. I also sell LuLaRoe, so I’m hoping that will be enough to let me be home with the kids!
DH is a drivers ed teacher at the local high school.
I am an executive assistant to my plant and operations managers, I also take care of all the accounting and HR/payroll for the plant. We make water treatment chemicals for cities and municipalities around the country. An itty bitty plant in comparison to some in the same city, but we churn out quite a bit of product. They're working to get me hired into the corporation permanently, which will be so great. Benefits, PTO, paid maternity leave...!!! I've worked hard for it.
@annapolis84 Glad to see another resident! Are you an IM/geriatrician turned psych, or a psych with a focus on geriatrics?
I'm a general surgery resident, my husband is a grad student.
Dream job would be as a staff surgeon in a medium sized community. Basically, I picked the right career, I'd like the work/life balance that comes with being staff!
I teach 2nd grade. DH works in maintenance for a blood and tissue bank. I love my job, but am very excited for the school year to be over, as I have had a very challenging group this year. I am currently debating if I should return full or part time next year since while I am working, I feel like I do not get enough quality time with my son.
@mirizzi&A Starting my PGY-5 year in psych this July, which will begin my two year fellowship in geri......my original plan was to match to IM but I fell in love with psych. One of my closest friends from med school is a gen surg resident....always amazed by how much our skill sets have diverged in just a few years!
I was previously a child and family therapist for an outpatient mental health clinic but recently (December) changed jobs and now I work in the Forensics for the Office of Mental Health. In a nutshell, I work with people who have pled not guilty by reason of insanity.
I’m a registered occupational therapist (OTR) working in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. I specialize in neuro rehab (specifically CVA), but I treat individuals with a wide variety of diagnoses. Another area of interest is custom seating and mobility. There’s nothing like getting to play a part in helping somebody to regain independence. I love my career. In school, I always wanted to work in pediatrics and did a lot of clinical work in that space, but peds jobs in my area were few and far between.
My husband works at our local casino as a table games floor supervisor.
My husband and I both used to work in feature film visual effects. I was a digital matte painter (think artist that creates digital backgrounds/set extensions) and my husband was a compositor (think person who brings all the CG and live action elements together).
Job security sucked though so we moved a few years back when my husband had an opportunity at a commercial Visualization job that had security and benefits and paid way better. Now he is transitioning into programming and software development.
I’ve been less lucky finding work here though because my talents are more specialized so I’ve just been picking up occasional freelance art and retouching gigs.
Once baby is here I’ll probably mostly be a SAHM unless I can find some work from home gigs.
I'm a Financial Planner. I fell into a position that doesn't require me to sell anything to my clients and allows me to actually give them advice that is 100% in their best interest and not because it gives me the best commission. I love feeling like I'm actually helping them.
DH is an engineer. I have never been good at explaining what type so I'm not even going to attempt it.
My husband and I work for the same company. He fixes up houses so we can rent them out and I am the collections administrator. I take the rent payments and bitch at you when rent is not paid.
It’s fun to read about everyone’s jobs! I’m a FT emergency department nurse at a busy city hospital. It’s been interesting working so far - I need to avoid certain people/ exposures (the other nurses on here know)- but I’m happy to be working in controlled chaos during my first pregnancy as opposed to my last job as a medic on an ambulance. I am nervous about making it through 12hrs on my feet til the end of pregnancy. Time will tell. I don’t have family nearby so it has been nice working along side of other women who have gone through pregnancy. I’ve had good advice about treating symptoms and everyone is understanding about the exhaustion & frequent bathroom breaks. Also, I’ve begun working on my BSN.
Husband is recently honorably discharged and is using the GI bill for school right now. He’s aiming to be a writer, but keeping an open mind about other things like teaching. He’s completely stoked about being a new dad before the end of the year. :-)
@brownredmaroon I work in physical medicine, but AK know what you mean. I’m wanting to wait to tell my supervisor, but if I get a patient under certain precautions I’ll have to tell her sooner than later. At least we’re out of that insane flu season now at my hospital. Wash all the hands!
I'm a veterinarian and I work for the government. I work mostly in slaughter plants...so none of my patients make it:) . My job is not what I planned on doing, but I enjoy it. We are responsible for ensuring humane handling and food safety and the hours and benefits are great for family life.
I work at an architecture and interior design firm. I just received a promotion and was told I have a year to prove myself - a week later I found out that I’m pregnant. I am an exectuative assistant to the principal interior designer. I do not have a design background but there are times I assist in selections. I am in graduate school for organizational leadership. I’m hoping that once I’m done with school (mid February) and return from leave that I will be running the business side of the interior design firm. Never imagined I would be in the design world after studying music, and eventually graduating with my bachelors in family studies. Looking forward to this new adventure!

Reading about everyone's careers is so interesting!! Currently, I work FT in a call center for a credit card company. SO is active Navy. Once we move in August (PCS to GA) I'll be a SAHM as two kids in daycare would be extremely expensive. Although, I'll be trying to find some WFH job I can do with my two littles as I hate not working.

So cool to see what everyone does! Currently I’m a SAHM but would like to go back to work as a network engineer. DH is also a network engineer at a national lab.
I am working in a research centre downtown Toronto that specializes in cancer and heart research and regenerative medicine. I work in a core microscopy facility, where we train and assist scientists and students with their imaging work. Lots of fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, and some fancier techniques.... really neat stuff!
the downside....I took a mat leave position to Get my foot in the door here. Now I’ll just be umemployed by the time baby comes
I’m mostly a SAHM, only working one day a week as an orthopedic massage therapist. (I only Work for insurance reimbursement on injuries. Not spa work). I also run a team of therapists for a local professional sports foundation team. DH is a locomotive engineer.
