@flockofmoosen3 yeah we have talked about guardians but never asked them lol (it’s his brother). The hospital always offers me something called the 5 wishes which is pretty simple. I really need to be in the correct mood to talk about this without triggering too much anxiety about things happening. With DS my mind went wild during the first few months.
@wildtot if it helps I'm an attorney (with an anxiety disorder!) and I don't think there's anything morbid about writing a will! Think about how you've probably got your finances in order and started saving up for baby. This is the same thing. Just paperwork and being organized. A good estate attorney will make it very un-stressful.
@wildtot I’m an attorney, you’d think I’d know better...but yeah no will here. No life insurance either. Not the best at adulting, hopefully some day we’ll get it together.
Okay so I’m officially at the point where it’s too exhausting/painful/lack of oxygen to bend down and tie my shoes, but my feet/back/sciatica are too sore and achy not to wear sneakers. Last pregnancy my feet were already super swollen at this point and by the end literally all I could wear were Birkenstock sandals, on the loosest setting, in a size too big. This time my feet are actually not swollen yet, those birkenstocks are too big, and im in need of super comfy supportive sneaker type shoes that are slip on so I don’t have to torture myself bending over. Any recommendations?? Prefer something not too ugly too
@wildtot - I bought the pre-paid legal assistance the year DD was due and we got a will and other legal paperwork drawn up then, including medical power of attorney, etc. We put into the language that it was applicable to all future children in addition to DD. Instead of listing a guardian, we listed that the executor of our will should make the decision - it's my FIL so we just talk to him occasionally about it. We didn't want to call someone out and then have them end up in a life situation where they are unable to take our kids. Right now, he and my MIL would be guardians with a shared custody with my parents. As they age, it will shift to one of our siblings but we're at a bit of a disagreement on whom.
@MichelleAG05 That's a great idea actually! Although my BIL are the best suited right now, I would hate to rule out my own family should situations change later on.
@MichelleAG05 you bring up a good point re: guardianship, DH and I are on the same page with medical power of attorney stuff so we haven't felt a rush to do it up, but guardianship I don't know what would happen. I assume that MIL and FIL would be the ones who assumed custody because no one in my family is in that position, but I guess to make it easier for her we might wanna iron that out, and ask if she wants to do that even.
What's the difference between the Ergo 360 and the Tula carrier? We used the Ergo with DD, it was mostly DH that wore her. I like the carrier but I didn't LOVE it and while it didn't give me any issues it was never 100% comfortable. I ordered a soft wrap carrier and I'm thinking of getting the Tula. The Ergo is still in good enough condition so I'm not sure if getting the Tula makes sense.
