Re: UO 4/5

  • I can't stand Joanna and Chip Gains. I think it's more the way that the show is portraying them, that she's like the patient martyr that puts up with her doofus of a husband but it just comes off as disingenuous to me. I like the designs that they do (most of the time) but it's just another design show, nothing extraordinary or spectacular.

I also don't find the Property Brothers attractive. Their faces don't move, it kind of creeps me out.

I'm on an HGTV kick today apparently.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I think I like Chip and Joanna more than I like her designs. But that's probably because DH has a tendency to be goofy and I could see him being like Chip and me just putting up with it because that's who he is. I don't really love the Property Brothers, but DH HATES them. Mostly because that one brother wears designer jeans all the time and it's obvious he's too pretty to do any of the real construction work.
  • @calimom2524 I do love me some Taylor as well. As does DS. He’s always asking me to put “Tay-tay” on.

@ecwk Your UO made me lol.

    I got nothing yet today...
  • @legallykate - I giggled out loud at that!

@princesslockness - that's unbelievable.I'm so sorry you're dealing with that. As both a teacher and a parent you obviously want what's best for your team. Can you set grade standards for the team to play or is it set by the district?

While I'm ranting about TV shows I can go ahead and pick on the singing competitions too. Haven't we discovered all the singing talent in the US by now? I thought that American Idol had run its course, I'm not going to watch version 2.0. The Voice is acceptable because Adam Levine is dreamy and Blake Shelton is hilarious.

Oh, and I have some VERY strong opinions about Roseanne Barr but I'll just say that that's another TV show I can't believe they brought back.

  • I’m SO glad I’m not the only Taylor fan here! Usually I’m the lone wolf trying to defend her haha. DH and I became fans when we started dating (right before Fearless came out) and have gone to I think 3 of her concerts together. DS is now obsessed with “look what you made me do” and asks to hear it whenever we are in target, randomly

I love Chip and Joanna but definitely feel like the goofy vs calm relationship is emphasized in the editing. I don’t mind the Property Brothers though they can be kind of annoying. I haaaaaate Tarek and Christina and wasn’t surprised in the least when they split. They’re so fake it grated on my nerves to watch.

Anyone else excited for the Trading Spaces reboot? I’m 99% sure I saw Amy Wynn Pastor at Disneyland last weekend, and was sad to learn she’s not going to be on the reboot.

  • @mrs_drc_rn same! Obviously I love Parks and Rec, but I don't love 'The Office' the same way. I like some episodes and there are some funny moments. But I don't feel the same way I felt about other NBC comedies.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 The minimium is set by the district, but I can make stricter rules for my teams. I just can't get the head (varsity) coach to agree to a contract for them to sign saying they won't have any grades below a 70 on game days.

I love Teen Mom. Their new spin off, Young and Pregnant, also isn't terrible.

I'm watching Monday's show at my desk because I am the only one here. Hahaha.
  • I was sad when T Swift went pop. But my baby girl (the five year old) is going to see her in concert with her two Aunts in June. She is so excited and loves to sing the "I don't like your little games" and "shake it off"

I guess that could be my UO. It doesn't bother me to let my child go to a concert, with proper ear protection of course! This was a huge fight with my Dad when he found out.
  • @legallykate +1 for needing a grocery shopping lesson! I shop weekly and it's easily 100-150 for me, DH and DD.  It was significantly higher when DD was still drinking formula but thankfully she's switched over to whole milk now.

OH hell, we get out with under $200 a month for H, L, E, and I. The kids also get lots of those cookie cups and fruit snacks.

@7425cait I kind of get like that too when random people post stuff like that. After having someone steal DS’s NICU pics from my Instagram and post them as their own, I’ve realized people will do some crazy shit for sympathy!

Grocery prices are going to vary a lot even within 50 miles. For example, I can get milk for like $1 and some change but my mom spends at least $6 on a gallon. We live about 45 minutes from each other.
  • @mrs_drc_rn Omg - I love Jersey Shore. I feel like I should take a shower just admitting that, but it's seriously one of the only reality shows I've ever watched. I hope this family vacation show is amazing.

@neeraja_k No flames from me. I can't justify spending that much on shoes. I don't spend much on clothes either, honestly. No flames from me to anyone who chooses to.. it's just not for me.

@legallykate Same! We spend about 125$ a week for just H and me on groceries. We don't eat out much though.

@mrsbubbles-2 I've never watched Chip and Joanna but that's because I can already tell they'd just annoy me. Most of those HGTV shows are so fake (or so I feel).

I'll think of a good UO later. All I can come up with are TV show ones...  :D
  • @Firemanswife11 Wow, that's a wild variation!

I live in a pretty inexpensive area overall and I'm sure we could probably get by on much less than we do, but we eat (and waste) a lot of fresh produce.  I also buy lots of health and life items (prenatals, shampoo, lotion, paper goods, etc.) at the grocery store, which I'm sure accounts for a lot of our cost.  I'm too lazy to make multiple trips for those things at a store like Costco.

I know. We just talked about that with my 8th graders, and how Alsaska is vastly different from say Wyoming. It just surprises me that people spend that much a week when thats our monthly amount. Its just the 'sticker' shock from that.

It can also vary a huge amount by what type of foods you cook, if you buy canned or dried or fresh.

  • @princesslockness we were in Alaska over the summer and I definitely could not afford to live there. Lol.

I used to be a vegetarian but since I'm not anymore, our grocery bills are a lot higher. Also, I tend to drink a lot of fizzy waters and things like that which make my bill higher. I need to cut back.

We don't have a monthly meat bill. We fatten a couple steers out, and they pay for themselves when we butcher and sell 2 of the 3. So We are lucky in that, it still just boggles my mind.

  • Y'all do NOT want to know what my grocery bill looks like in the Bay Area. I imagine @elsieisamoocow's is similar living down in the LA area. A gallon of milk is $8.
