I drank a bunch of Gatorade (I had a craving for it) and now baby boy is dancing around. It's so cool to feel him move and to know he's hanging out on the couch with me, his dad, and his cats.

I helped my best friend this morning, then came home and slept for 3 hours. I’ve been a lazy slug all day. Tomorrow we are going to a charity bowling event. That should be fun, even though I’m terrible

We were going to go to Disneyland today for the food and wine festival, but I looked last night and DH’s pass is blacked out all this weekend, and then all the Saturdays in the rest of March and April. I think we are going to attempt going on Easter Sunday and just go super early so it’s not too crowded. It will probably be the last time I go for a while because I don’t want to overdo it being pregnant.

Otherwise, we just stayed home and watched some tv and Santa Clarita Diet while DS was napping. Picked up some chicken pot pies from a delicious local pie place for dinner and they’re cooking now.

@melissaf22 I started a Target registry online and never got a bag! I’m pissed as well!

Been MIA most of the week but giving away as many love-tits as possible!

Anyone here a minimalist or practice a degree of it? I’ve come to realize that we have so much junk in our house that we barely use and the clutter is driving me bonkers.  I’m going to buckle down over spring break and try to donate as much as possible.

@mrs_drc_rn, you can start it online and still get a bag.  You have to go in store, go to the customer service desk, tell them you started it online and are here for your bag.

My BH's started yesterday.  I had them early and frequently last pregnancy and was hoping I wouldn't this time around.  It's annoying because now that means when I'm at the gym or on our long walks they'll start and stay constant.  Like, BH's for 20 minutes. Until I stop and rest.  I had to quit work early last time because they'd last my entire shift. :(

Ikea will ship to you, fyi.  I live two hours away and shipping is only $50! You don't get to see the items in store, yeah, but if you know what you want it's worth it!

We'll do Easter next weekend.  Son LOVES fruit so we plan on putting a grape or strawberry in each egg that he can open and eat as he goes.  It will be the best day ever for him, lol

@msmonalisavito I aspire to be, but the rest of my family does not agree with me. That being said, we have a small house and are losing our main storage room (spare bedroom) to this baby. There will be a LOT of stuff that goes this week during spring break so we can start remodeling the spare bedroom. It’ll be the same this summer when we clean out the attic. If we haven’t touched it in at least 2 years, it’s going. If it’s shit DH’s parents gave us that we’ve never used, it’s going. If it’s holiday decorations that are broken or a PITA to put up (mostly from DH’s parents), it’s going.

Fruit in the eggs in a great idea! Last year, I put little grow Dinos, plastic rings, a few dress-up bracelets, and Annie’s bunnies in the eggs.  But I never considered fruit, I’m stealing this idea!

Speaking of Easter, what are you guys doing for your kiddos?  We usually use Easter as a way to stock up on spring/summer stuff.  So the girls usually get sidewalk chalk, bubbles, bathing suits, fingerpaints, and some candy/fruit snacks.

  • Options
@msmonalisavito that’s a great idea I will steal! I kind of don’t care about Easter even though I always got a basket as a kid and DS still has Halloween and Xmas candy. I don’t want to buy more.
  • Options
@scottishlass1213 we aren’t huge Easter people, either.  We tend to view it as a spring welcoming celebration, but my parents are religious so they like to include the kids.

We do the same as @msmonalisavito and stock up on summer stuff. Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, possibly a new pair of crocs since DS outgrew his during the winter.
  • Options
We aren’t at all religious either but for some reason my mom makes a big deal about baskets and dinner lol I think just a reason to buy presents and get everyone together really.

@msmonalisavito we are trying to be more minimalist. I got rid of a bunch of DS’ toys at a resale a few weeks ago (mostly the annoying electronic ones my mom bought without me knowing *eyeroll*) and that has helped. I’ve also been getting rid of stored clothes and some old china we have never used. Once the weather warms, I’m emptying the garage and reorganizing and purging in there. I’m so overwhelmed with all the crap in our house and it gives me major anxiety, especially when grandmas want to give ds a toy constantly. Um, no. He has about 1,000 matchbox cars. No more please. Also, we have at least 10 guitars, one violin, four drums, and seven guitar amps. We need a music room!!

We aren’t big on Easter, but DS loves a good egg hunt. We will do that and a small basket with some candy, new sidewalk chalk, bubble gun, and other random small items. I found a darling umbrella at Aldi with diggers on it so he will like that. Lunch at the inlaws and that will be that.

Pregnancy dreams. Ugh. I had a dream last night I was induced early, no one would shut the doors or curtains to my hospital room, and I gave birth to a baby girl who immediately needed surgery because her stomach was all open and her plastic organs were falling out. When she came back from surgery, she was a kitten.

About the ladies with no close IKEA’s that sucks! We have one 30 minutes south AND north of us. Apparently the crib I want is out of stock at both right now but we’re still going because we need some other stuff and DH works close to one of them so could always just grab the crib whenever it comes back.

For those wanting to downsize their stuff, I highly recommend how cathartic it is! We've been emptying out the basement of old furniture and things we've not used or looked at since we moved in, really. Granted it's in preparation for a move, but still, it feels so good to get it out and sell it. Once the basement is mostly done we'll be moving onto the garage and pole barn and selling husband's pottery moulds, kilns, potters wheel, and other supplies that takes up like a third of our barn.

We don’t go too crazy for Easter. We got eggs we will fill with stickers and some candy - this year we will do a small hunt in the backyard, which I’m excited about. Never have done that before as we were renting a condo up until last summer. His basket will have a kite, kid gardening tools because he loves helping DH in the yard and a few small toys. Since our families bob love a few hours away, this is one holiday we celebrate just us!

Spent my entire morning scrubbing my bathroom from top to bottom. It's great because having a clean bathroom is fun and it'll stay clean enough that it'll just need little touch ups next week during my break. But I did notice a lot of things my landlord cut corners on when our apartment was being finished. We signed a lease in August of 2016 for an October move in date, and they barely finished the remodel in time (they were in the middle of renovations when we went to see the apartment during our search- there wasn't even a bathroom or kitchen the first time we saw it). There's tons of splattered paint on my light fixtures, cardboard stuck under my sink, plaster smears behind the toilet, and the mirror wasn't properly anchored to the wall. I know these are silly complaints, but we pay a lot in rent and all those little issues make it feel like the bathroom is never truly clean. There are little issues in other rooms too- we've had leaky skylights, our toilet and central air leaking into the downstairs apartment, drafty windows, counters not lining up with appliances.

Hopefully we can buy in the next two years. I'll probably be very particular about making sure everything is finished properly.

I stupidly didn’t wear my support belt and we just spent 2 hours walking around IKEA. I am now in bed lol

We went to Menards to get some stain for a small cabinet I was wanting to convert into a changing station and ended up walking out with $300 worth of deck stain and flooring for our kitchen. I'm glad the rebates from our new washer and dryer were approved, we only paid about $130 for everything today. I'm also kind of sad we're prettying up the place, only to move later this year.

I’m going to go to target and tell them I did a registry online for the bag even though I haven’t, but to be fair I might in the future if I can think of anything we might need for the baby. I’ll be in target today anyway and I want it.

For Easter we do minimal candy and most of the basket is filled with stickers, small stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books, DS is getting new sippy cups, a small toy, stuff like that. We always go to the zoo on Easter but I think it will probably be too cold this year.

We just finished a 4 mile hike and my god my hips hurt. I am not ready to give up hiking! Would a support belt help my hips?

@calimom2524 it should. It lifts the belly and takes the pressure off the hips and pelvis.

@scottishlass1213 what kind do you have?

  • Options
@ssthomps I have this one (not from this place but just searched for the first image of the one I had) but it's 5 years old so they may make better ones now LOL

@scottishlass1213 Do you think that would be good for running?  I ran 4 miles today and I'm feeling all kinds of sore and crampy already.  Wondering if I need to try a support belt.
  • Options
@juliebird6  I don't see why not - I think belly would still be flopping but at least it's being held up off your pelvis and hips more?

I had the same kind. It was great. I mean... it was itchy (wear a cami under) and annoying but it helped my back pain with my first soooo much. The more comfy loooking ones did nothing for me

Yeah I agree, it's super itchy but I would either wear a tank like @pghctwife says or above the maternity pant fabric.
