Hi ladies. I’ve been MIA for the last week but I’m ready to catch back up and join in again! Things have just been super busy/I’ve been kind of out of it a bit. I had a few days last week where I didn’t feel baby and as much as I know I shouldn’t freak bc it’s so early, that’s just easier said then done when I got so used to his daily movements! But as I type this he’s squirming away so obviously I was being ridiculous. Also my husband had surgery Tuesday to reduce the size of his nasal turbinates and fix his deviated septum. He’s in so much pain right now but I know it will help him so much once he heals. I had a breakdown yesterday because I hate seeing him in so much pain and I just wanted to be able to make him feel better.
Sorry for my long lost! Now on to catching up.
@lindsayleigh1989 I’m sorry there’s so much pain around you right now. You’re always so great at giving support on here so I know you’ll find the words to say.
@wildtot I’m with you on unicorn foods! They all look icky. Although they did add unicorn marshmallows to lucky charms and I’m okay with that lol Also, you don’t look like you’ve gained 26lbs. You look so good in all your HDBD pics!
@kissableviv how can you tell it’s the cervix he’s kicking? I think I’ve felt that too but I’m not sure lol
@zande2016 I’m sorry you’re having blood surgar issues. That sounds so frustrating. Keep us updated on what the doctor says!
@cseley321 I’ve been having such a sweet tooth lately but trying to do more fruits than candy or pastries. I’ll blame the extra lbs on my boobs. They didn’t grow till after birth last time and right now I’m already the size i was while bfing (pretty much A to a C). But I’m also WAY more active this time. So who knows. Pregnancy is weird.
@wildtot I started out 10lbs heavier with my second baby than with DS, and ended up gaining 10 less pounds and ending at the same final weight even though my weight gain was fast at the beginning...it evened out in the middle for me and then ramped up at the end again. I guess third babies are a wild card, I started out at the same weight this time as with DD and I don't think I've gained 3# (at least I hadn't at the last docs appt).
@wildtot I've gained 15 so far. I'm ok with weight at this point as long as I try to eat nutritious food 80% of the time and stay active. It's not a bad idea to replace the candy when you can but be kind to yourself for growing a human!
Went to Destination Maternity today for the first time. The lady that helped me was super helpful! I was expecting crazy expensive prices, but I stayed upstairs, which was the Motherhood brand area, and away from the Pea in the Pod area downstairs, and the prices weren't bad at all, with lots of deals. 4 bras, 5 tops, 2 leggings for under $200. And a $50 off if I spend $125 next month, which will be perfect to go back and buy some swimsuits for babymoon.

DS woke up crying at 230. Now I’m laying awake at 3am because i am fully awake and aware how much my legs hurt. Hope Tylenol kicks in soon so can sleep a bit more. What a great start to my dirty 30.
@wildtot happy birthday!!! Hope you got some more sleep.
Im wide awake at 5:24am. I feel like I should make the best of it and go for a walk or start getting ready so I'm actually on time for once...but can't seem to motivate myself to get out of bed.
@zande2016 the only thing that got me out of bed at 5:25 was knowing that DS might wake up 15 minutes from that point and if I didn't get up I wouldn't get any ME time. But he's sleeping right now! At 6am. Any time that he wakes up at this point is fine with me, since its already so much later than it has been the rest of the week.
Happy birthday @wildtot! Also, are you doing any type of exercise? I know I know nothing about you and we are completely different people but I notice that I gain quicker when I don't keep up with exercise. Even if it's just a 30 minute walk. I've had to come to accept that my body just gains quickly while I'm pregnant, and it sucks, but since I'm exercising so much more this pregnancy, I can at least monitor it to hopefully stay within the 'healthy' range. I gained 40lbs with DS and am hoping to only gain 25-35 with this one. I think I'm at 17-20 so far and I'm at 24 weeks 4 days today.
@Kenya715 thank you! Iv never been a continuously active person. Every now and then i will do some Pilates or yoga but it’s not a routine. I do walk a lot and i have to chase after a 2 yr old. I am more active this pregnancy than with DS. I have a routine thyroid check up in about two wks so maybe my levels are off explaining some rapid weight gain and lack of energy.
The plumbers came to survey the damage and decided they have to open the wall to find the leak. DH is currently answering no questions (he's working, so legit) but he said I should start looking for a tub before he disappeared. I went into the bathroom and the plumbers were clearly in there, so now I wonder...did he mean the wall in the bathroom? If we have to replace the tub we will need to replace the tile on the floor, and then I am wondering...do we need to replace the vanity now if we redo the floor? Because its old AF and we definitely WANT to do that, but its a big vanity so its expensive I just don't know if it makes sense to replace it now versus fixing the floor and replacing it later. Anyone with a remodel know how that works? Basically we might be looking at a bathroom gut, which we knew was coming at some point but we don't necessarily have the money for right now.
Positive: they don't THINK there is mold, so we might get away with the remodel and new plumbing and no mold remediation. So you know, a few grand instead of SEVERAL THOUSAND. Fingers crossed they find nothing when they open the wall, happy Friday to me!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY @wildtot! @SmashJam RE the vanity - it depends on if you are changing size vanities or not. If it's the same size footprint then in theory tiling around the vanity shouldn't be an issue. You could also just tile the whole floor and put the vanity on top until you are ready to replace to future proof. We went through the same decision process with the kitchen, do we do the bare minimum and save up to do it the way we want in a few years, or suck it and just gut and redo it all in one shot. We decided we didn't want to do this 2x and just go for it.
Dangit I jinxed myself - I was so excited that this was a 2nd kid and I didn't have to do the family drama rituals this time...our meet up for low-key dinner to tell family we're having a boy has somehow morphed into 30 people and I'm expected to bake a cake again. Still having flashbacks to DD's "gender reveal" my MIL planned and then literally pushed me out of the way to cut the cake herself. Maybe I can send DD and DH and claim my bronchitis is keeping me home?? Yes, I'm a chicken.
@SmashJam ugh, remodeling can be a pain but I'm glad your estimate is below expectations.
@gingerbride26 sometimes I'm sad about having a small family that lives far from me but sometimes I'm glad that means no drama for the most part . Hugs!
@gingerbreadgirl i have a big family on my dads side and gatherings are so overwhelming. Here we live out of state and I keep getting invited to my grandpas retirement party this weekend (with less than s month notice). Bring on the guilt trip but sorry can’t afford flying out the family, pregnant and tired, and skip my own bday. I do miss them but gosh so much drama!
@kissableviv I was always sad about having a small family too - only child, only grandchild - so I always wanted to marry into a BIG family...be careful what you wish for lol FIL is 1 of 5, MIL is 1/2 but a lot of 1st cousins who are more like siblings, so as soon as you try to plan something, 1 step beyond immediate family you are talking 60+ people easily.
@SmashJam my H just helped friends redo their bathroom and it ended up being a huge pain in the butt. They did it all themselves, and it looks great, but they (our friends in particular) didn’t realize how big a job it was. But if it needs done, then it needs done!
Just unpacked and found a cute summer blouse in the closet for me, same style I got with my MIL last month but different color. I now feel compelled to have a second child just to make good use of all this maternity stuff! She also left me some cash for groceries. I feel like a teenager!
I wish DH was super handy. He built a small side table, so that's something, but it's nice to know how to fix things around the house -if you feel confident enough of course, otherwise it's just a mess waiting to happen! I installed a faucet once and I learned that plumbing should not be messed around with!
@wildtot happy birthday!!! also remember to have grace and love for yourself around weight gain unless your dr's are concerned I would just be mindful but don't feel the need to go extreme
@gingerbride26 I would totally use the illness as an excuse and just send your hubs and kid and you stay home and rest. You know, delicate state and all
@hillbillywife@gingerbride26 DH actually thinks we can tear out the bathroom and floor ourselves, maybe with the help of FIL who is a contractor (built his own house, which is gorgeous) and have the plumbing done, the floor done, and keep the vanity for now if its too expensive to redo. We can probably save some money not hiring a contractor to get everything out and have my FIL do the floor with us as well, and then maybe we'll be able to afford a vanity! Basically DH says the plumber was like, "This tub is broke." Lovely.
@SmashJam so glad things are looking less expensive than you thought!
@gingerbride26 I’d totally use your sickness as an excuse, it sounds like your MIL would jump at the chance to take your place anyways
DH got paid today and got a mysterious huge chunk of money we weren’t expecting.. Come to find out, he gets a payout from some profit based account at his restaurant when his contract ends, which ended back in November when he resigned. Between that and our tax return, we’ll be able to pay off a huge chunk of our credit card debt and the majority of a car for DH before baby #2 comes. Seriously the best surprise ever.. Making up a little for the fact that I was complaining to DH recently that it’s like he sold his soul to the company with the amount he’s been having to work lately.
@SmashJam sounds like a plan! We’re all for DIY-ing but saving sanity is definitely better sometimes, especially if you’re in over your head. Seems like FIL is a good guy to have around to help!
We finally ordered blinds for half the windows in our house. We'll get to the other half in the (hopefully near) future. Lived here for 7 years with gross, broken, dirty blinds because it was the lowest priority on the fixer-upper list of things here. So incredibly excited, I've been doing a happy dance all afternoon. Is it weird to be that excited about blinds?
Yay! The job I swore I would t get just called and offered me if! It is more than 1/2 my base an hour!!!!! I’m going to be a zombie working weekend nights and nervous to be floating to three different hospitals. Totally worth it though
@noideawhatshesdoing nope! Our house was brand new when we moved in and blinds were an exciting first purchase! Our bed is really high and the window sills prettt low so we HAD to get blinds ASAP unless the neighbors wanted a good view of my H’s bum every morning lol
I’m actually excited to buy another blackout blind for the “boys” room here soon. I’ve hated my DS’s curtains for forever but I haven’t wanted to replace them. I finally have a reason to!
I am ordering these two dresses and a matching blue dress for dd. So excited to have some cute dresses for spring. Also thank you crowd tap for making these almost free!!!
@hillbillywife our house was totally gross when we bought it, we knew it was bad going into it, but seriously the previous owners were pigs. Like the house has carpet, but they had 4 dogs and didn't own a vacuum level of dirt everywhere. I've been desperate to replace the blinds for years, but $$. With the baby on the way we finally decided we needed to at least get new blinds in the nursery and the other rooms the baby will likely be in most often.

We slowly buy blinds here. When a room is being painted is when it gets new blinds/ window treatment . My MIL has actually picked out and paid for the rooms we have done since we just go with what she says to do
@elizabethrn87 congrats! That's awesome. Maybe a FFFC...I have no window treatments on any window in the house except the our room which used to be DS's. The room he's currently in has no window treatments or blinds because there is one single stupid cabinet there right up against the window and I'm having a hard time finding a way to put the curtain rods up.
@SmashJam I’ll ALWAYS have curtains or blinds up in every room because I’m one of those creepers that looks in strangers houses when driving by at night.. FFFC.
