@purple_2012 in my area they charge 5/hr to 5.50/hr for infant in home day care. I don't have any other options than to pay that because it's the going rate.
I used to do in Home day care and charged $25 for the first child and $20 for the second. I also asked that they provide lunch and formula if there were food allergies.
@purple_2012 my RE and OB both said to sleep on any side- the 'only sleep on one side' thing is an old school medical thing that has been long disproven but persists on the internet
Also, how much would you pay for in home daycare for 2 kids? I have a friend who has offered to watch the 2 kids, but I feel like she's asking too much. How much would you pay?
It totally depends on where you live. In my MA suburb I paid $250/week for one infant for 7:30-5:30 5 days a week. But that’s the lowest I’ve seen.
@purple_2012 when I asked my Dr about sleeping on my back or right side, he told me if you're comfortable, the baby is fine. You will feel something off or uncomfortable if something isn't flowing correctly. I just try and sleep... No matter what side I'm on. Thank goodness for body pillows! Love mine!
My husband might not like my new pregnancy pillow...but I love it! My biggest thing has been my hips are sore, so the extra padding is amazing. I can also sleep on my back but feel slightly tilted so it feels better.
@coffee-saur and @sammierose464 What body pillows do you recommend? I have been looking at ordering one online because I have been so uncomfortable at night, but I can’t decide which one looks the best. Anyone else have recommendations?
I can’t decide how I feel about it, but I keep giving it a shot every week or two. Right now, it makes it too hard for me to roll over, and it forces my arm into a weird position (for me) when sleeping on my left side. It also makes my bed hot and complicates getting in and out of bed.
When I meet with my OB, I’m going to ask about sleeping on my right vs. my left. I also figure in about 6weeks, I’ll want the support it provide, and will figure out a PJ/bedding combination that will work with the pillow.
Or, I’ll pull out another standard pillow or two and make a nest.
@spartan4life like @Gizmo1231 , I just have a plain old body pillow and I like it. The pregnancy pillows look awesome tho! I just don't feel like spending the money, and they look kinda big. Later in my last pregnancy, I used more regular sized pillows to prop my head up cuz my acid reflux got so bad. DH griped about having more pillows than room in the bed...
@purple_2012 Like others have said, any way you sleep is fine. Last pregnancy I slept mostly on my stomach well into my second tri. My chiro couldn’t believe I could do it with how big I was, but it was most comfortable (until the babies got too big and started pushing on my blood vessels when I was on my stomach). After that, I was uncomfortable on my left so only slept on my right. This time I am mostly sleeping in my left. Fun fact: only about 5% of women ever have any issue with baby pushing on their blood vessels while they are on their back. A lot of women on my old bmb used to freak out about waking up on their backs, but most of them never had any issues.

I had wondered about that because one of the poses I see in a lot of prenatal yoga marketing literature is of women flat on their back with feet in the air.

When the dr told me that I couldn’t figure out why it was such a widespread thing to warn about. I was one of the 5% and found out at one of my ultrasounds when they took one look at me, had me sit up, ran and got me juice and kept asking if I was ok. I was like I’m fine, what’s going on? Apparently I went super pale and they got really worried, but I felt absolutely fine. They told me no more being on my back for ultrasounds and made sure to have the table recline up as high as it went when I came in. It sounds scary, but every time after that I could definitely feel it when I was too flat, so I think I just wasn’t there long enough that day to notice.
I have another question and wasn't sure if I should start my own thread for it.
Where and when will you be registering? I'm a STM, so I'm most likely not having a baby shower, but I still want to register for the completion discounts and to help keep track of we need.
Re the body pillows: I never got one, because the places I wanted support weren't included in the design. E.g., I really wanted one under my rib cage, so I bought one of those $5 travel pillows from the drug store. Worked like a charm. That in combination with a couple of old, flatter pillows we already had worked perfectly.

@purple_2012 We don’t need anything for this baby, except diapers and a new car seat, so if we register anywhere, it will probably be amazon because the diapers we get aren’t in any of the local stores and we’ll need the car seat before the baby comes home, so won’t have the completion stuff in time for that.
Love my giant U shaped pillow. DH hates that it takes up 3/4 of the bed, but I don’t care. Didn’t start using it until after 20 weeks last time, but I think I’ll be pulling it out sooner this time.
Last time I registered on Amazon, BabiesRUs, and BuyBuyBaby. Just to make it convienient for people wherever they wanted to shop. This time I doubt we’ll have any kind of shower so I’m just using Amazon for the completion discount. We don’t need much, but the things we do need are the big ticket items. Nursery furniture, double stroller, eventually a second convertible car seat. Hoping the grandparents didn’t use up all their generosity on #1.
I’m doing Amazon and Babylist for online, and Buy Buy Baby for my friends who prefer to shop brick and mortar. I may roll the Amazon and Babylist registries together. I don’t know yet.
FYI- the Amazon freebie box was pretty awesome- it had a onsie, a muslin swaddle blanket, and a bottle.
Another question might be a little early on, but anyone wanting a co-ed baby shower? At first I wanted it to be just ladies, but I kind of want my SO and father there. I was going to ask SO's friend to plan a diaper party for him, but if the shower is co-ed do you think that would be over doing it? Should I stick to old fashioned and just have ladies at the shower so the boys can have their little drunken night before SO becomes a father?(also, extra diapers!!) What are you ladies doing? If you have any idea this early lol
@indias95 - I have no idea what I am doing yet. Some of my circles don’t mix at all.
I think my Mom is planning something for family when I visit home in July- which may or may not be co-ed. My work will throw something, which will be co-ed.
I run in two distinct social circles- and have been debating on that one- one of the circles is aware of my pregnancy and that I have separate social groups, but will follow my lead on who to invite. The other is not (because they are a gossipy bunch), and I am kind of waiting to figure it out until they know. I’d rather do one mixed event (social groups and all the people), but I’m hesitant to put both groups in the same room.
@indias95 my mom is already making lists and asked if I wanted coed so I asked DH and he said he's prefer not to which is fine by me. So we're going old fashioned just the ladies! And he'll go hangout with a couple Of his guy friends and have his own day(:
@indias95 We did a coed bbq for DS. So much fun! My H and the men had a great time. We did coed for my wedding shower to. My friend did *not* do coed but she still had her H and father there to help and thank everyone for the gifts.
@knottieamusements For my bridal shower, we had 1 big event and it was a lot. There were a lot of gifts to open and it took forever, even with my bridesmaids basically opening the gifts for me and then passing it to me. For my baby shower, I didn’t want to be stuck opening gifts for that long, so I ended up with 2 (well 3 if you count the one at my office).
We had a coed shower, mostly because I really wanted my dad and brother to be there, too. DH wasn’t super stoked on the idea of a shower, but we kept it low-key: family and close friends, those that had kids brought them, and we had food and drinks and just visited. No awkward games. It ended up being fun and just a nice get-together, really.
DH told me he doesn't want a joint one. He's in a motorcycle club and so they will probably all get together for a diaper party.
I just found my dad and his side of my family. So I'm not sure if they will want to throw me one, or just join the one my family is throwing. I'm going to lunch with some of the ladies on Saturday, they want to talk babies! It'll be interesting to blend them with my mom's side since its kind of a weird situation. (My mom had me at 17 and was already broken up from my dad. I finally found him in Jan through an Ancestry DNA test! About 2 weeks before we found out we were pregnant!)

It's similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Shaped-Premium-Contoured-Pregnancy-Maternity-Zippered/dp/B00K6K4SOS
I love it so far because I can turn over and still have support.

After much more of the same...
i really love it, but I had neck problems before I got it...and the pillow definitely strains my neck worse, so I’m not using it right now

I think we’ll do something similar for a baby shower!
