Re: Randoms - W/O 3/12

  • So I bought one of those Funko Pop things for a friend of mine. It's sitting on the dresser until I get it in the mail to her. This conversation with her just happened.

Me: So I have to admit something
Me: Your Figment pop is sitting on the dresser
    Her: Okkkkk
Me: HIS EYES ARE CREEPING ME OUT
Her: BAHAHAHA (insert several laughing/crying smileys)
Me: He just has these big black eyes and his pose is like "YEEEES COME TO ME CHILDREN I SHALL SHOW YOU THE WAYS OF EXTERMINATION-- I MEAN IMAGINATION"
    Her: (more laughing smileys) greatttttt

Let it never be said that I don't have a morbid imagination.

@lokibear89 @jrm_14 No one could know yet. The earliest would be the 18th? What's the earliest you can get a BFP? I think the 18th would be 8dpo. I was pretty shocked they had it up already.

  • @eleven_ yeah if I get so lucky this month I would be due on the 28/11 and I can't really test until next week. So December would be pretty much impossible by my guesstimations even if you could test early (like 9dpo) you would only be able to test on Monday at the earliest.

@galactickates so I’m a huge fan of day drinking and I told my husband earlier this week...”well I didn’t think I’d be able to drink this weekend but since life sucks and I’m able to, we’re going out!!!” So starting at noon tomorrow, I’m Irish!

  • @nmbrcrnchr1 - both of your posts are the best thing ever!  According to the tequila I'm drinking tonight and the green beer I'll have tomorrow,  I'm doing a world tour
  • @nmbrcrnchr1 But was the speed limit 65 or 70? ;)
  • @jrm_14 it was 70! Although I still would’ve been annoyed if it was only 65 bc the left lane should be for people who go at least 5 over the speed limit  :D

You guys, I feel like an idiot. I thought my doctor was an OB... turns out she's not (even tho she's done my pap before).  WTH.
I had to look her up and her specialties are listed as family medicine and obstetrics... isn't that what OB stands for?!  I had to look that up too and I guess not all obstetricians are gynecologist but almost all gynecologist are also obstetricians.  So when most people talk about going to their OB they actually mean their OB/GYN... my mind is bewildered with this new information.
The relevance of this is that my doc wants me to have an HSG but she can't order it because she's not an OB/GYN... So I'll have to have another appointment on top of the one I had yesterday just to get the referral for the test. Ugh just send me to an RE already!

  • @LJMoon6 - I'm sorry you have to go to yet *another* doctor. :( *hugs* DH is a family medicine doc (but doesn't do/hates OB - so he's useless to me in that regard  :s) and they just don't get the same extensive training in gyn issues as a regular ob/gyn. So family medicine ob's can do pap smears/delivery, but typically triage anything outside your basic pap smear/prenatal visit to an actual ob/gyn. Great for ladies who are low-risk/have an easy time with fertility/gynecology, but not awesome if you have issues. You're almost a year in, right? Hope you find an ob/gyn office which you like and who can get you in quickly! Can your current doc refer you to someone? (Sometimes you can get in faster that way, if your doc can make an appointment for you - professional courtesy and all that, esp. since she can't order you the test you need).

  • @catlady2015 Thank you for not making me feel like an idiot. Why have I never known this before!? I always thought that an OB was a GYN too. This clinic is still new to me. Before I made a new patient appointment last September I read through a couple doctors bios online and wrote down a few names I thought I would like. I wanted one that could be my primary doc but could also take care of "yearly" paps and a pregnancy. The scheduler recommended my current doc that I really really like. She takes her time and seems so genuine. She remembers that i have science degrees and describes things thoroughly to me. There is a GYN at the same clinic that I can see. I am really hoping she can just talk to her colleague to get her to order it but that's not the impression I got from her during the appointment.

  • @LJMoon6 - I didn’t know this until I met DH! Don’t feel bad. If you aren’t having issues, it’s not a problem, and you'd never know! Sorry you had to learn about this. :(

Professionally speaking, her colleague needs to meet with you to establish care (totes ok to keep seeing your current doc too, since you like her, it doesn’t mean a full switch), and then she can order the test. Insurance and medical boards frown on a doc ordering a test for a patient that they haven't actually seen clinically. Can she get you in soon to get things going?

  • @catlady2015 I figured it was "against the rules" to order tests for a patient you haven't seen before... At this point I'd rather just be sent to an RE. I am in my 12th month right now, so a month shy of a year. I could probably get in faster with the GYN than the RE tho. I'm not sure what to do...
@darkstar42 Hi! Good to see you posting again! Sorry about your coffee shop experience. I didn't know people interviewed doulas... I'm wondering if I should just skip the GYN and go straight to the RE. That's where it looks like we'll be going anyways. Cut out the extra person.

  • @LJMoon6 Thanks! I've been mainly lurking while benched this month. I actually found that I got in to see an RE really quickly. It could be worth calling RE clinics to find out before you see the ob/gyn. Feel free to pm me - I'm happy to share more details on the REs I've seen and my ob/gyn.
  • @LJMoon6 - make the call and see. You’re at 12 months anyway. If they can get you in quicker, go for it! A RE might want to manage all testing anyway. I’d do some research and make some calls this week, try to get on someone’s appointment roster. Good luck! I’m facing down starting tests this month too. PM if you want to chat!

@LJMoon6 You shouldn't need to redo a saline u/s or an hsg, or a hysteroscopy if you have that done. The blood work for infectious diseases will need to be done about once per year (I don't really understand this one, but whatev). SA shouldn't need to be redone either unless there was a problem with the first one. Hormone testing should only need to be redone if the RE wants to see something in a specific phase of your cycle. Don't worry, you got this, and it will be ok!

I was so freaked out and overwhelmed at first specifically because I hate meds. When I came on here and lurked other ladies going through it, it helped me because I thought if they can do it, so can I. Once you get testing done and if you do treatment cycles, there will be a whole new set of things to get through, but you will and you will shine. And you have all of us to talk to about it to lean on. Hugs <3

  • @prpl11butterfly She is so far! :) She's really sweet and loving.
@catlady2015 Her personality fits really well with us, so it seems like we made the right choice :) She's definitely settling in okay. We came home from work today and she was curled up under my pillow on the bed.
@darkstar42 She definitely is! FX that you get off the bench soon!
@suzycupcake From the paperwork, she belonged to her old owner for almost her entire life and was surrendered because of landlord issues. So, yeah, she seems thrilled to have a home and people who love her. She's very sweet and spends most of her time in our laps. She's curled up between us right now on the couch.
@maureenmce Her name is Phantom. We changed it from the name she had, since her coloring on her face reminds us of Phantom of the Opera :) That's a neat perk of the insurance! If ours had that, I'd be getting perks all the time because of all the walking I do at work, lol.

  • @dreamscapes_ have you heard of Achievement? It's an app that pays you for steps. I haven't really put a ton of effort in but just hit my first reward (only $10, but that's $ I didn't have yesterday). Here's a referral code ;) https://tinyurl.com/y837nlaf

Afm: FU mother nature. It's the first day of spring. Wtf is this? Also, my office is freezing because someone opened our cash window after we closed up and all the heat seeped out into the waiting room. I'm going to find them....

  • @suzycupcake We also discovered this morning that she is definitely a "wake up and feed me" kind of cat. :)

@prpl11butterfly I'll look into that! I do something like 3-4 miles a day at work, lol.

So we may have started an Instagram account for our cat... She's just too cute not to. If anyone wants the username, let me know :)

  • @prpl11butterfly Ugh! YES! It's spring, this weather needs to get itself straight. We had weather JUST like this on the first day of spring three years ago. I remember because we sold our house that day and it made it that much more depressing. lol
