Re: 2nd Trimester check-in March 12th
Physically I feel like I got run over with a garbage truck...we went away for the weekend and had a great time, but I came home with a killer head cold. My head feels 50 lbs And I can't take anything! I'm just trying to keep my fluids going and rest as much as I can. Poor DS also has the same thing I have, so we're a sorry bunch today.
I have my glucose test Thurs. If I'm not feeling better by then, I'll be rescheduling. No need to torture myself.
AFM I’ll be 27 weeks on Wednesday. Baby boy is cruising around like crazy especially at night. Sleeping lately has sucked so I’m just exhausted a lot of the time. Yesterday was a good day though and did some yard work in the sunshine. Today will be rough as I only slept like 4 hours total.
Happy Monday everyone!
24 weeks on Wednesday and have mg glucose test next Monday with a regular OB appt. I haven’t seen mg OB in forever since I went to the MFM, my OB didn’t want me to have to double up on appts which was nice of her. Starting to make calls to figure out hospital tour, birthing classes, baptism classes, etc so that’s keeping me busy this week trying to get all that stuff scheduled in the next few months.
DHs boss (and good friend) bought our stroller/travel system for us and we got that over the weekend which was exciting and maki this all feel real! We attempted to go look at bedroom sets for the nursery this weekend but none of the furniture stores around here had any on display which was disappointing. We did end up buying a new couch tho lol! Since we are losing our guest room for baby, we went with a sleeper sofa and I have to say, I’m pretty excited. The couch we have now is totally a bachelor pad couch and I’m ready for it to be gone!
Sleep has had been crappy the last few nights and it’s catching up with me. I know the next few months are only going to get worse too. Ugh!
How far along? 15 weeks 4 days
Appts this coming week? Nothing until next Tuesday, which is just my first check-in with my actual OB (first post-RE appointment was with a nurse midwife).
Totally on board with HDBD but fair warning, bump is out there. I was a bit overweight to begin with, with most of it in my butt and a pooch, so I look far more pregnant than I actually am LOL.
Hey @TravelingCouple can you add me to the M2B list? EDD is 8/30 and it's a girl
I'm feeling good this week. I went to my first pre-natal yoga class over the weekend and LOVED it. I am going to try and go at least once a week.
No appts this week but the anatomy scan is in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to see baby boy.
We are getting another storm this week in the northeast and my office has already announced we won't be open tomorrow. I am not sad about that.

Oh @travelingcouple so sorry you aren’t feeling well. This cold and flu season is so brutal. Baby is getting so big!
@holls214 Good job working on yard work! 27 weeks is huge. So sorry about sleep troubles.
@mtpbadger you’re so busy getting ready! What kinds of birth class are you going to do? I am so interested to hear what everyone’s ‘plan’ is for birth. Furniture shopping is the best! Sounds like you are nesting for sure.
@scarcasticowl I bet your bump is adorable. Sorry about the bursitis!
@laurad75 HEY! Sorry about the snow but yay for a snow day!
AFM Still constipated, still a little swollen and so so so happy and thankful. Last week I was pretty moody so I'm trying to turn it around. I am 19 weeks and 2 days and my anatomy scan is on Wednesday!! Maybe I’ll actually do a HDBD this week with a little picture of baby girl

This pregnancy has flown by already and the next few months are going to be busy (trips, friends visiting, shower) so if I don’t get on top of stuff now, it’ll all sneak up! Plus the classes are already full about 2 months out so we better get cracking!
Is anyone else starting to freak out about actually having to take care of a newborn?? I know I’ll be able to do it but I just feel so clueless about everything from clothes to size diapers to the basics of breastfeeding, etc.
AFM...
How're you feeling this week? The prenatal massage last Thursday was awesome. I have a desk job so I'm typing away 24/7 and always tense in my arms, shoulders, and neck. The massage therapist told me though that I should probably try prenatal yoga (I took one class several weeks ago) to help with the tension. LOL I don't think it's a good sign when your massage therapist tells you to relax more. That said, I'm planning to take more prenatal yoga classes over the next few weeks and I hope to schedule another prenatal massage in late April/early May. I still have half of my gift card to use up!
PRENATAL MASSAGE: For those who haven't had one before, here's what happened. When I booked my appointment, I had to make sure to get a certified/licensed massage therapist who could do prenatal massages. Not every massage therapist can do prenatals. Luckily, the person they booked me with had good reviews on yelp. I filled out the usual forms at the spa and also signed a waiver. It did ask if I was low risk, and I see a MFM so I'm technically high risk, but only because I opted to stay MFM after my initial appointment. I didn't think it would be an issue since I wasn't told outright to avoid it. The massage therapist had me on my left side first, hugging two big pillows that stretched the length of the massage table. Then I flipped over to the right side. Oddly enough, my left thigh was more sensitive, which she said it's normally for one side to be more sensitive than the other, so after I communicated that, she was applied less pressure. Finally, the last part was on my back. She had me sit up as she elevated the top third of the table so that when I laid back down, I was in a reclining position. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep as she massaged my neck and head. And then of course, my hour was up.
I'm 99% done with my registries. I contacted my insurance and a DME provider to get info about breast pumps, and once I decide what I want to get, I'll be able to put other breastfeeding-related supplies on my registry. I was so stressed last month about no one offering to host us a baby shower, and now we'll have at least 4: my girlfriends are hosting a small ladies only event April 28, and my parents are hosting a co-ed party at their house on May 5 (DH's parents will travel and visit). My parents want to hold a separate party for my dad's co-workers so I said sure, why not, whatever makes the grandparents-to-be happy. I think that'll be in June. And my co-workers will have a small gathering sometime in my 3rd trimester. Since my girlfriends sent out the invite over the weekend, I was stressed to get the registries done by then. Then on top of that, DH wanted to go shopping at Babies R Us. LOL We have a small house and it's starting to feel even smaller, even if it's just the pack n play and highchair. My aunt also gave me a ton of baby clothes, which is nice! So much to do for the nursery and the office (trying to add a guest bed in there since our guest room will now be the baby's). I just have to remember to take it easy and breathe. I trust my body to tell me when I need to take breaks.
How far along? 22w1d - I started feeling the baby kick at 21w4d!!!
Appts this coming week? OB follow-up tomorrow afternoon, and then DH will meet me right afterwards for Take 2 of the anatomy scan. Hopefully baby will cooperate!
We’re going to keep the bed in our guest room at least initially since the baby will be in our room the first few months (or that’s the plan at least). My moms coming to stay with us for about 2 weeks once DH goes back to work so it’ll be nice for her to still a room to herself before we get rid of the bed. We might try and fit a daybed or something in the babies room but since we found a sleeper sofa we liked, were looking for a new couch anyway and it was a good price we figured it couldn’t hurt to get it for extra sleeping options down the road.
MFM on Friday for the materniti21 test- yay!
Stay safe in the northeast tomorrow.
oh also I’m 15w+2 today

sorry about the bursitis @sarcasticowl but I bet your bump is adorable!!
@Irisheyes81 yay for your anatomy scan! It's always so amazing to see them wiggling around inside we should start an ultrasound thread so we can post pics there of all these amazing babies.
I love how active this board has become
How're you feeling this week? Okay. Still sleeping on my tummy, but woke up to boobs feeling like I was laying on a couple of baseballs, so uhm, thats starting to be fun! Even in my belly, bending over or doing different things, I'm starting to "feel" more physically pregnant, which is kind of nice.
This thread is so busy! I love it! Honestly, I'm a little overwhelmed too, so please forgive me if i dont reply to everyone. There are lots of familiar faces, and also some new ones, so I guess I'm just getting my bearings.
I had a late rehearsal last night + the time change has me exhausted, as usual. Hoping that will start to lift soon... But the ladies there are so cute and excited for me, it's fun to be with them in a setting where I don't have to hide it, but it's also not "about" the pregnancy.
My direct supervisor already knows, but we had an interim Manager filling in and our regular Manager covering in another location. Long story short, the interim guy's wife just had her baby, so he's out all week, which means we may be seeing our regular Manager again... who doesn't know yet! I started mentioning to my supervisor that maybe I should tell her while she's here, so that might happen this week.
Appts this coming week? Friday, I will be 14+5, much awaited chance to hear the hb again with the midwife. I should probably start jotting down a couple questions, since things keep popping into my head, and I don't want to forget. Once I hear that again, I'll feel ready to send out announcements to extended family who may not know yet. Don't want to keep them in the dark!
*typos
I still feel great for the most part

Appts this coming week?
Yesterday I had the anatomy scan and everything looked perfect!
AFM, I am really struggling to get ready for this baby. I feel like time is flying by and I have done nothing. Realistically I probably won't setup the nursery until I am bordering 9 months, but I just know it's going to be so much harder this time around since the time table will be shorter, I will be wrangling a toddler, and be big, fat, uncomfortable pregnant
I feel so much worse today I hardly slept last night bc my head and nose were so stuffy. And the times I could breathe, I had heartburn. I really hope I can sleep tonight, I need it so badly.
Regarding childbirth classes my hospital offers them free of charge to patients but you have to be at least 32 weeks and they are offered on Saturday and Sundays all day which means we will have to find a weekend day over the summer that we are free to do that. H is not happy but I have communicated that it is really important to me that we do this together so he can sacrifice one day.

We haven’t signed up for any classes either. We should probably take one as I feel like we have no idea what we are doing. I’ll probably ask my doctor about them tomorrow during our check in.
EDD 9/10/18, 14+1
Feeling fine, honestly I don't feel pregnant at all. Excited for something, anything to change! Would love to also have a bump of some sort just so I can justify buying new clothes. I'm down to just 2 pairs of jeans that fit comfortably!
Next appointment for me is 16w scan on 3/28...at which point I'll also be telling my mother because it's her birthday. I'm already getting super anxious about this as we have a very strained relationship, but I can't put it off any longer for fear of her finding out somehow!

Appts this coming week? Baby’s echo is Thursday and regular OB appointment next week. Saw the cardiologist today again and everything looks good with my heart so don’t have to go back there!
@TravelingCouple hope you beat this cold and feel better soon.
@laurad75 stay warm and safe. These storms are ridiculous but a day off is great!
@jr102217 thanks for the info on the massage. I’m hoping I can schedule one next week because I really need it. Can’t believe you are almost done with your registries. I haven’t even started yet! Really need to get my butt in gear!
@BusinessWife I am a belly sleeper so I slept that way for as long as I possibly could. Enjoy it while you still can! GL at your appointment and spilling the beans to the rest of the family!
@cseley321 you are not the only one struggling although I won’t have to deal with a toddler while doing it. I think I have procrastinated because it’s been so hard to believe that I’m actually pregnant and may actually get a take home baby. I haven’t bought a thing and haven’t started registries yet. Also haven’t started cleaning out the room that will be the nursery although we will have some guests staying there in 2 weeks so have to wait until after that to completely change it up. Ugh, so much to do and just realizing the timeline is so short. Told myself I’m gonna start this week!
@sarzee2 congrats on hitting second tri! The first maternity clothing I bought was jeans and I wondered why I waited so long! Even if it’s still mostly bloat you can still get some new stuff so you can feel comfortable.
This board is super active and it's only Tuesday, good job ladies!!
Ive barely slept the last few nights. The hip pain is no joke, lately each side can only take 1/2 hr to an hr...I used to get 2 hrs so I just feel like I'm tossing all night. Also feeling lots of pressure in my lower abdomen so bedding for things isn't as easy anymore either. Just surprised im having so many issues as I expected to experience all this discomfort but being further along!'
@holls214 @safire3 @mtpbadger I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud and yet it still hurts, I finding it odd as my bumpmis big but it has a long way to go I didn't expect to have such issues already!!
@safire3 glad I'm not the only one in disbelief about a take home baby here, I've done nothing! I know I have a bassinet my niece used so I at least know I have something! I even have her car seat but will look into getting a new one....I think
@TravelingCouple sorry ur still somunder the weather hopingbyou can get some rest tonight!! Hopefully some warm fluids could help you!!
@sarzee2 welcome to 2nd tri!!! You have a great group of ladies here to enjoy this ride with!!
@aera11 girl I'm just exhausted from the packing you have to do for all
these trips! Glad you have the energy!! So fun you have. Any clothing to go through!! My SIL has 2 friend getting rid of clothing one had a girl and the other a boy so hopefully I'll have some good thing s coming my way
on my mobile and the app acts strange, hoping I don't lose everything I have, will try to respond to More later...

Hi All,
Sorry I’m late with the check in this week.
How’re you feeling this week? Like all of a sudden I’m pregnant. Lots of baby tugs and flutters, new backpain, and peeing always, and my old friend daily nausea is back I’m also starting to feel overwhelmed about everything that needs to be done, planned for, and purchased. We hit up babies’r us this weekend several were having store closing sales in our area. We got a crib, diaper pails, swaddles, sleep sacks, bunches of generic white onesies/shirts, changing pads oh all the deals! We also picked out doula and started researching birthing classes. I’m a list person. I think I should make one to keep my mind from spinning around in circles.
No appointments this week.
@travelingcouple always nice to get away but getting a cold is the worst have you tried a saline spray or neti pot? They are gross but do tend to help. I can’t do the traditional pot style I’ve nearly drowned myself but they do have ones that just look like squeeze bottles that are a little more user friendly.
@mtpbadger we were just talking about signing up for classes. I never thought to check with my insurance company for classes. We have been looking to pay for ones outside the hospital and thinking about doing a Bradley method or birthing from within…I think this baby is turning me into a granola mom. There are also classes about newborn care to sooth those nerves. Do you have any family that can check-in on you and support you when the baby first comes home? Also yay to your new sofa I love getting new furniture!
@laurad75 and @jr102217 glad to hear you liked your prenatal yoga classes. Did you do yoga before? I’ve never done it but would like to try thought I might see if there were some youtube videos to warm me up. I’m so not flexible and a little embarrassed to sign up for a class.
@sarzee2 happy second trimester!!!
@holls214 that looks like one cozy puppy that doesn’t want to get out of bed. So stinkin’ cute.

@jr102217 you make me want to get a massage right away! I'm scared of anything hurting anything, I suffered with a headache just not to take tylenol...yes my dr says I can take it but I'm afraid of anything and everything!! And yay to feeling the baby!!! So happy to hear I know you were nervous! It will probably get more frequent! I literally think my baby is having a party in there!
@mtpbadger love that you can get swimming in so much I feel like that would make me nauseous too. Probably would help the pressure I feel though.

How far along? 14 weeks 6 days, baby measured 15 weeks today. It is a boy. The Bump app says baby is size of a donut today.....mmmmm....donuts.
Appts this coming week? Went to perinatal today. All is well with baby. Did overall anatomy scan and everything is there. Got bait and switched into seeing this old man doctor who spit on me and was a huge downer. They literally didn't tell me my doctor was out of town and this jack ass was filling in until I was on the table after sono with goo on my tummy. Everything with baby was just fine we had a good time then he walks in and he launched into this whole lecture about everything that could have gone wrong and could still. I can't even get into details because it was upsetting. Called my mom after and she laughed pretty hard because it was so rediculous. Thank God my husband was there.
Also got a certified letter (pain in the ass to get signed) from the Endocrinologist I fired telling me he can't be my doctor anymore or anyone at his office due to my expressed dissatisfaction and telling me I need to use an enclosed form to request records and get a new doctor. So stupid and I threw it away. His care was so bad I had new doctor before I fired him and didn't even request records because there was no point.
Going to have talk with my OB tomorrow and ask if I need to go to Perinatal 'high risk' doctor more. The plan was to just go there for NT and free cell dna testing because the equipment is better, and now they want me to come back every month. Their machinery is better but if I do go back I am always going to confirm I'm seeing the good doctor from now on. The doctor I like there asked me the first time why I was even referred to her and supposed just because of my age, because everything else is pretty fine. I think this Perinatal thing has maybe gotten a bit out of control but I'll talk to my OB and see what he thinks.
When got home got a check in the mail and got pizza on way home from whole foods to reward myself. Things are looking up since. I'm heading towards the peppermint tea and pregnancy Affirmations after dealing with old man scary doctor!
Was happy to see comments about keeping guest beds in nursery. My husband I plan to do that. I've also been shopping and babies r us going out of business sale. It's a real pain in the ass but some deals. Got a stroller $100 off and a crib cheap. It's a little early still but I figured I'd go for the deal. Also got a bassinet and few other small toys and decor. I'm a planner so I'm trying to use my energy I have now and coupons as they come.
Ps- sorry for mild cursing (but maybe really not sorry haha). Thanks for listening.
@TravelingCouple I 2nd the Neti pot. I actually use the pot and it’s a game changer- permanently reduces the congestion

@2MomsHoping I did do yoga before but pre-natal is quite different plus I am not flexible at all and need to make all kinds of modifications. I would recommend you try it in a class so the instructor can help you with the modifications rather than doing it on your own.

@mtbadger it’s nice your mom is going to stay mine has offered to do whatever I want in terms of staying she lives out of state and is mostly retired but has a little flexible part-time job so she just wants a general heads up of when/how long she should come. I think it’s just so hard to tell how I’m going to feel so I’m still trying to figure out what I should tell her. Because I want to balance not going crazy and getting help with also giving us alone time as a family of three to bond and figure things out.
@hopeful_mom You know when I heard of the toys r us closing I didn’t think it affected babies r us but at least in our area it definitely does! It was a complete accident we stumbled across one! As far as the nausea ugh so not thrilled. It’s not as bad as it was at its worst but I’m pretty annoyed that it’s here at all when I feel like it shouldn’t be. I feel the same way about having to wear my down coat in March. The injustice of it all!!!
@hottietoddy that old man doctor sounds awful. Nothing like trying to scare the hell out of you to make an already nervous pregnant lady more on edge. I understand that they have to be honest but putting unnecessary fears in someone’s head is just mean. That’s one of the things that really scares me when it comes to delivery who knows what kind of whacky doctor I’m going to get I love my OB but she’s only one of 8 that rotates on call.
@aera11 I’m still team green going strong. We have our anatomy scan in a couple weeks I’m not even tempted I’m more worried at making sure they don’t tell me! I was like the crazy lady of PGS testing when anyone called the first thing out of my mouth was I DON’T WANT TO KNOW THE GENDERS! I know finding out any time is a wonderful surprise but there is just something about that moment of meeting your child and finding out you have a son/daughter all at once. I don’t know I probably romanticize it but it’s just how I’ve always envisioned it. Also I’m hella practical and want all my baby stuff to be unisex since we are lucky enough to have extra embryos and I have my hopes us to try for sibling as soon as they will let me.

Also on another update/subject. My in-laws are really stressing me out. There is a family birthday party this weekend that I have been anxious about for months and I am thinking of skipping now. My husband is fine with that and I'm going to do something with him on his actual birthday anyway. I read an article online this week about how you may think you have your relationship with your inlaws all figured out....then when you get pregnant or have a kid it all changes or the bad things become magnified. I am experiencing that. My mother in law specifically stresses me out very much and is always telling me downer stories about her unplanned, third, high risk pregnancy. I am really trying to keep it together and stay positive, so I am thinking of just avoiding them as much as possible for forseeable future. I've seen them 2 times now and each time I am upset for weeks by something she does or says.
@sarcasticowl bump looks fantastic!!
Thank you @Aera11, I commend you on keeping it a secret! I couldn't do it! I'm such a planner and I can't handle not knowing, good for you! ps- as a woman and pregnant woman especially you could always change your mind and find out....haha there would be no judgement here. : )
@BusinessWife good luck this week telling your manager if it happens! Also you might want to get a side sleeping pillow similar to the one that @Holls214 showed in a picture above. I got the kind that is a complet U shape and it is a pain, wish I got the open C shape kind. I have a regular body pillow I use sometimes or I have just been using another full size blanket along my side.
@lablover78 good luck at the test on friday so glad you got that all set up!
@hopefulmom and @2MomsHoping @cseley321 on the babies r us topic. Like I was saying I have bought a few things there taking advantage of sales. A couple notes: the website and customer service is horrible, I think they are on their last leg. This weekend we are going to open our crib and stroller and make sure all the parts are there before the company completely implodes. That being said did save several hundred dollars already. But will be sticking to buybuybaby for the rest because can't take the babies r us stress.
