@laurad75 You're SO lucky! Nice to have a day off when you know ahead of time. :)  Fingers crossed that you guys don't lose power or otherwise deal with damage. I, too, can't wait for our anatomy scan. Nervous, but excited to see how much she's grown.

@Irisheyes81 I hear ya.  I am taking a colace every morning and drink a glass of metamucil every day and I'm still struggling.

@irisheyes81 my health insurance/clinic offers three different classes that are all free: late pregnancy labor and delivery; preparing for your newborn; and breastfeeding basics. The only crappy thing is they are all smack dab in the middle of the day. The hospital also offers classes that are on nights/weekends but we would have to pay out of pocket about $100 for every course so not sure which we will do yet. I don’t think I’ll necessarily do a birth plan bc it’ll prob stress me more if things have to deviate then. I’m open to going as natural as long as I can handle it and then have no issues begging for the epidural lol!

This pregnancy has flown by already and the next few months are going to be busy (trips, friends visiting, shower) so if I don’t get on top of stuff now, it’ll all sneak up! Plus the classes are already full about 2 months out so we better get cracking!

Is anyone else starting to freak out about actually having to take care of a newborn?? I know I’ll be able to do it but I just feel so clueless about everything from clothes to size diapers to the basics of breastfeeding, etc.

@jr102217 we haven’t picked the dates for anything yet but DH has a bunch of school related stuff going on in April/May so I want to start getting things booked. I’m hoping we’ll have everything booked by this weekend.

We’re going to keep the bed in our guest room at least initially since the baby will be in our room the first few months (or that’s the plan at least). My moms coming to stay with us for about 2 weeks once DH goes back to work so it’ll be nice for her to still a room to herself before we get rid of the bed. We might try and fit a daybed or something in the babies room but since we found a sleeper sofa we liked, were looking for a new couch anyway and it was a good price we figured it couldn’t hurt to get it for extra sleeping options down the road.

@mtpbadger that’s great that there are options for free classes. Too bad about the schedule. The childbirth class I signed up for and the breastfeeding class that I want to take are my own expense but can be paid with my FSA. I was definitely freaking out about diaper sizes and breastfeeding supplies. I spent so much time on figuring it out. I wish there was one place to find this all but all the info is all over the place - a different app, another checklist, a different website. Sigh. I think we just have to hope that it all comes together!

I still feel great for the most part

    How far along?
    21 weeks 2 days

    Appts this coming week?
Yesterday I had the anatomy scan and everything looked perfect!

AFM, I am really struggling to get ready for this baby. I feel like time is flying by and I have done nothing. Realistically I probably won't setup the nursery until I am bordering 9 months, but I just know it's going to be so much harder this time around since the time table will be shorter, I will be wrangling a toddler, and be big, fat, uncomfortable pregnant

@Aera11 it was a weekend away to visit close friends of ours. We all went, DH and DS so not really a baby moon. We had one before DS but not sure we'll do one this time around.

I feel so much worse today :( I hardly slept last night bc my head and nose were so stuffy. And the times I could breathe, I had heartburn. I really hope I can sleep tonight, I need it so badly.

snow day in Boston!  It's crazy out there.  I went outside early this morning to get myself a bagel and it was so windy.  I'll be staying put until tomorrow morning at the latest.

Regarding childbirth classes my hospital offers them free of charge to patients but you have to be at least 32 weeks and they are offered on Saturday and Sundays all day which means we will have to find a weekend day over the summer that we are free to do that.  H is not happy but I have communicated that it is really important to me that we do this together so he can sacrifice one day.

so glad everything looked perfect @cseley321!

that still sounds like a nice weekend trip @TravelingCouple :)  I don't know if we'll be able to do one either.  DH and I both traveled so much in the last month but never together and every trip was pretty expensive.  We don't have a ton of time to get one in and most safe warm places have pricey flights because of Easter/Spring Break.  We have my sisters wedding in New Orleans when I am at 31 weeks, so that will be our last flight/big trip.  We might just do a weekend away where we can drive.

omg a bagel sounds amazing @laurad75!  I literally lived on bagels and cream cheese for the first 16ish weeks.  That is so nice your hospital offers them free of charge!  We talked about doing one, my OB refers you to a woman who does it in her home and it's 3 two hour nights but by 6/7pm, DH and I are zonked.  I think we might just skip it and do the CPR/first aid and I want to try to find a breastfeeding one.  Enjoy your snow day :)

@Aera11 well we were getting a couple days of nice sunny weather but today it’s pouring rain and windy. Typical Oregon this time of year. The sun was nice though. Can’t wait for warmer days either. I have been holding off on buying too many maternity clothes because I have so many maxi skirts and dresses to wear. If only the sun would just come and stay!
We haven’t signed up for any classes either. We should probably take one as I feel like we have no idea what we are doing. :) I’ll probably ask my doctor about them tomorrow during our check in.

How're you feeling this week? Feeling ok but tired. Sleeping is hard. Tried a body pillow and a wedge pillow and neither helped that much. I can only sleep on my side for a couple hours max before my hip hurts then I have to turn on the other side and reposition all the pillows. Plus it just gets worse as the night progresses. Next I think I may try this blow up thing I saw on Amazon with a hole in the middle to allow you to sleep on your belly. Has anyone tried that? DH is not to excited about it because it’s so big I would probably have to put it on the floor and sleep there but I’m getting desperate and can’t think of anything else to try.

    How far along? 21+1 today

Appts this coming week? Baby’s echo is Thursday and regular OB appointment next week. Saw the cardiologist today again and everything looks good with my heart so don’t have to go back there!

@TravelingCouple hope you beat this cold and feel better soon.

@laurad75 stay warm and safe. These storms are ridiculous but a day off is great!

@jr102217 thanks for the info on the massage. I’m hoping I can schedule one next week because I really need it. Can’t believe you are almost done with your registries. I haven’t even started yet! Really need to get my butt in gear!

@BusinessWife I am a belly sleeper so I slept that way for as long as I possibly could. Enjoy it while you still can! GL at your appointment and spilling the beans to the rest of the family!

@cseley321 you are not the only one struggling although I won’t have to deal with a toddler while doing it. I think I have procrastinated because it’s been so hard to believe that I’m actually pregnant and may actually get a take home baby. I haven’t bought a thing and haven’t started registries yet. Also haven’t started cleaning out the room that will be the nursery although we will have some guests staying there in 2 weeks so have to wait until after that to completely change it up. Ugh, so much to do and just realizing the timeline is so short. Told myself I’m gonna start this week!

@sarzee2 congrats on hitting second tri! The first maternity clothing I bought was jeans and I wondered why I waited so long! Even if it’s still mostly bloat you can still get some new stuff so you can feel comfortable.

Yeah I tried the straight body pillow and hated it. I have been using this for a couple weeks. Thanks- Dozer loves the pillow too and cuddles of course.

That’s the pillow I have too and it definitely helps. Still toss and turn some but it helps me get comfy and a few hours of sleep. My hips start hurting too after a few hours and then I got to roll to the other side.

Hello gals!! I guess technically this is my last post on 2nd tri as I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow! Will be seeing my MFM tomorrow and excited to see this lil one, especially with my drama from last week.  Just hoping the snow will stop and clear up so I don't hav any extra issues traveling!

This board is super active and it's only Tuesday, good job ladies!!

Ive barely slept the last few nights.  The hip pain is no joke, lately each side can only take 1/2 hr to an hr...I used to get 2 hrs so I just feel like I'm tossing all night.  Also feeling lots of pressure in my lower abdomen so bedding for things isn't as easy anymore either.  Just surprised im having so many issues as I expected to experience all this discomfort but being further along!'

@holls214 @safire3 @mtpbadger I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud and yet it still hurts, I finding it odd as my bumpmis big but it has a long way to go I didn't expect to have such issues already!!

@safire3 glad I'm not the only one in disbelief about a take home baby here, I've done nothing! I know I have a bassinet my niece used so I at least know I have something!  I even have her car seat but will look into getting a new one....I think ;)

@TravelingCouple sorry ur still somunder the weather hopingbyou can get some rest tonight!! Hopefully some warm fluids could help you!!

@sarzee2 welcome to 2nd tri!!! You have a great group of ladies here to enjoy this ride with!!

@aera11 girl I'm just exhausted from the packing you have to do for all
these trips!  Glad you have the energy!! So fun you have. Any clothing to go through!! My SIL has 2 friend getting rid of clothing one had a girl and the other a boy so hopefully I'll have some good thing s coming my way :)

on my mobile and the app acts strange, hoping I don't lose everything I have, will try to respond to More  later...

@2momshoping we signed up for a newborn care class so I’m hoping that will calm my nerves. I used to babysit a newborn (in high school!) so I know it’s doable but sometimes thinking about EVERYTHING at once is overwhelming. My Mom is going to come stay with us for about 2 weeks once the baby comes so that’ll be nice and if needed, we have friends with young kids and my in laws aren’t too far away for support. I’m with you on the prenatal yoga too....I think I would embarrass or hurt myself if I attempted it!

Still swimming 2-3 times a week and I find I definitely sleep better on days I go and it’s nice to just float at the end and stretch everything out. Hoping I can keep it up until she gets here!

@2momshoping I wasn't sure if toys r us going out meant that babies r us will be closing too?  Interesting you mention being nauseous I feel on same days its been bothering me a lil here and there too...hoping it doesn't return full force like it was!  One thing that keeps me calm is that this lil one will really be just eating and sleeping the first few months so everything I dont get done prior I can get done after too!

@jr102217 you make me want to get a massage right away!  I'm scared of anything hurting anything, I suffered with a headache just not to take tylenol...yes my dr says I can take it but I'm afraid of anything and everything!! And yay to feeling the baby!!!  So happy to hear I know you were nervous!  It will probably get more frequent!  I literally think my baby is having a party in there!

@mtpbadger love that you can get swimming in so much I feel like that would make me nauseous too.  Probably would help the pressure I feel though.

How're you feeling this week?  Pretty good, hungry, tired. Bleeding has completely stopped so trying to work back in exercise. Been walking more during day at meetings and doing recumbant bike at home.

How far along? 14 weeks 6 days, baby measured 15 weeks today. It is a boy. The Bump app says baby is size of a donut today.....mmmmm....donuts.

Appts this coming week? Went to perinatal today. All is well with baby.  Did overall anatomy scan and everything is there.  Got bait and switched into seeing this old man doctor who spit on me and was a huge downer.  They literally didn't tell me my doctor was out of town and this jack ass was filling in until I was on the table after sono with goo on my tummy. Everything with baby was just fine we had a good time then he walks in and he launched into this whole lecture about everything that could have gone wrong and could still.  I can't even get into details because it was upsetting.  Called my mom after and she laughed pretty hard because it was so rediculous.  Thank God my husband was there.

Also got a certified letter (pain in the ass to get signed) from the Endocrinologist I fired telling me he can't be my doctor anymore or anyone at his office due to my expressed dissatisfaction and telling me I need to use an enclosed form to request records and get a new doctor. So stupid and I threw it away. His care was so bad I had new doctor before I fired him and didn't even request records because there was no point.

Going to have talk with my OB tomorrow and ask if I need to go to Perinatal 'high risk' doctor more. The plan was to just go there for NT and free cell dna testing because the equipment is better, and now they want me to come back every month.  Their machinery is better but if I do go back I am always going to confirm I'm seeing the good doctor from now on. The doctor I like there asked me the first time why I was even referred to her and supposed just because of my age, because everything else is pretty fine. I think this Perinatal thing has maybe gotten a bit out of control but I'll talk to my OB and see what he thinks.

When got home got a check in the mail and got pizza on way home from whole foods to reward myself.  Things are looking up since.  I'm heading towards the peppermint tea and pregnancy Affirmations after dealing with old man scary doctor!

Was happy to see comments about keeping guest beds in nursery. My husband I plan to do that. I've also been shopping and babies r us going out of business sale.  It's a real pain in the ass but some deals. Got a stroller $100 off and a crib cheap. It's a little early still but I figured I'd go for the deal.  Also got a bassinet and few other small toys and decor. I'm a planner so I'm trying to use my energy I have now and coupons as they come.

Ps- sorry for mild cursing (but maybe really not sorry haha). Thanks for listening.

Sorry, I am always using the phone app when I post, but I scrolled and saw someone ask about if BRU is closing as well as TRU. From my understanding they are both tied together so if they do close, it will be both brands. Also FYI, an hour ago the BBC announced that all TRU and BRU are closing in the UK in 6 weeks

+1 for the Neti Pot.  There's a bit of a learning curve to get the technique right but for me it works wonders.

@2MomsHoping I did do yoga before but pre-natal is quite different plus I am not flexible at all and need to make all kinds of modifications.  I would recommend you try it in a class so the instructor can help you with the modifications rather than doing it on your own.

@mtbadger it’s nice your mom is going to stay mine has offered to do whatever I want in terms of staying she lives out of state and is mostly retired but has a little flexible part-time job so she just wants a general heads up of when/how long she should come.  I think it’s just so hard to tell how I’m going to feel so I’m still trying to figure out what I should tell her.  Because I want to balance not going crazy and getting help with also giving us alone time as a family of three to bond and figure things out.

@hopeful_mom You know when I heard of the toys r us closing I didn’t think it affected babies r us but at least in our area it definitely does!  It was a complete accident we stumbled across one!  As far as the nausea ugh so not thrilled.  It’s not as bad as it was at its worst but I’m pretty annoyed that it’s here at all when I feel like it shouldn’t be.  I feel the same way about having to wear my down coat in March. The injustice of it all!!!

@hottietoddy that old man doctor sounds awful.  Nothing like trying to scare the hell out of you to make an already nervous pregnant lady more on edge.  I understand that they have to be honest but putting unnecessary fears in someone’s head is just mean.  That’s one of the things that really scares me when it comes to delivery who knows what kind of whacky doctor I’m going to get I love my OB but she’s only one of 8 that rotates on call.

@aera11 I’m still team green going strong.  We have our anatomy scan in a couple weeks I’m not even tempted I’m more worried at making sure they don’t tell me!  I was like the crazy lady of PGS testing when anyone called the first thing out of my mouth was I DON’T WANT TO KNOW THE GENDERS!  I know finding out any time is a wonderful surprise but there is just something about that moment of meeting your child and finding out you have a son/daughter all at once.  I don’t know I probably romanticize it but it’s just how I’ve always envisioned it.  Also I’m hella practical and want all my baby stuff to be unisex since we are lucky enough to have extra embryos and I have my hopes us to try for sibling as soon as they will let me.

sooo .... small follow up from yesterday.  That doctor who blind sided me yesterday really got me down.  I called my ob this morning to get more of a handle on what the perinatal doctor's role should be during my pregnancy.  I thought that I was just going for a few initial scans for NT and free cell dna testing.  Now it seems like they have me scheduled with them through end of pregnancy!  I don't know if that is necessary, plus I don't understand how my regular ob, who I love, fits into the plan now.  Does anyone else see a perinatal, high risk doctor for additional testing?  What is your plan might I ask?  @lablover is that what a MFM is for you?  Specifically I am going there because of my AMA, overweight and have high blood sugar.  I guess they just want to monitor me more.  This guy yesterday just made me feel so bad about myself.  I am heading back to the therapist tomorrow to cope.

Also on another update/subject.  My in-laws are really stressing me out.  There is a family birthday party this weekend that I have been anxious about for months and I am thinking of skipping now.  My husband is fine with that and I'm going to do something with him on his actual birthday anyway.  I read an article online this week about how you may think you have your relationship with your inlaws all figured out....then when you get pregnant or have a kid it all changes or the bad things become magnified.  I am experiencing that.  My mother in law specifically stresses me out very much and is always telling me downer stories about her unplanned, third, high risk pregnancy.  I am really trying to keep it together and stay positive, so I am thinking of just avoiding them as much as possible for forseeable future.  I've seen them 2 times now and each time I am upset for weeks by something she does or says.

    @sarcasticowl bump looks fantastic!!

Thank you @Aera11, I commend you on keeping it a secret!   I couldn't do it!  I'm such a planner and I can't handle not knowing, good for you!  ps- as a woman and pregnant woman especially you could always change your mind and find out....haha there would be no judgement here. : )

@BusinessWife good luck this week telling your manager if it happens!  Also you might want to get a side sleeping pillow similar to the one that @Holls214 showed in a picture above.  I got the kind that is a complet U shape and it is a pain, wish I got the open C shape kind.  I have a regular body pillow I use sometimes or I have just been using another full size blanket along my side.

@lablover78 good luck at the test on friday so glad you got that all set up!

@hopefulmom and @2MomsHoping @cseley321 on the babies r us topic.  Like I was saying I have bought a few things there taking advantage of sales.  A couple notes:  the website and customer service is horrible, I think they are on their last leg.  This weekend we are going to open our crib and stroller and make sure all the parts are there before the company completely implodes.  That being said did save several hundred dollars already.  But will be sticking to buybuybaby for the rest because can't take the babies r us stress.
