  • @DanyTargaryen I hope it turns out to be something simple!

@DanyTargaryen thank you for the update. I think I will mention it to my dr at my appointment tomorrow
My OB got me in with my primary this afternoon. I'll let you know what happens in case you are dealing with something similar.

  • @klj0228 I wonder if in your case it's because of the excessive vomiting and an electrolyte imbalance since that has a pretty strong tie to heart function.

I do know that heart palpitations can be related to thyroid issues just as an FYI, always worth mentioning though to your doctor!

Thanks for the note. Mine tested ok in the past but I know pregnancy can affect thyroid function. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some blood work and an EKG in my future this afternoon.

  • @DanyTargaryen good luck I hope it’s nothing serious!
  • Ugh. My heart feels like it's racing/skipping a beat today. I know it can happen during pregnancy with all the extra blood flow but it's annoying. Definitely bringing it up when I call tomorrow morning to reschedule my cancelled appt.
Quoting myself with an update in case anyone else has something similar happen. The fast heartbeat/skipping a beat thing is still happening so I talked to my OB about it at my physical. Apparently while it could be nothing, she wants me evaluated immediately. My OB set up an appointment with my primary this afternoon and the OB was talking potentially needing to see a cardiologist or heading to the ER for an EKG if a cardiologist couldn't get me in fast enough.
@DanyTargaryen while of course it could be nothing, shortness of breath and palpitations could be evidence of a pulmonary embolus (PE), a blood clot which traveled to your lungs can can interfere with heart function, and can be very serious. Definitely get it checked out! I recently had some pain and got a full workup at the hospital (ekg, cardiac enzymes, ultrasound for clots, etc.) and this is what they told me. I was totally fine, hopefully you are too!
  • Having a rough day with muscle cramps in my upper legs.

  • @DanyTargaryen I hope all goes well tomorrow!

@orangebubbles I take a gummy prenatal (which usually don’t have iron in them) and a separate chewable bariatric iron pill. It’s slow release and since I’ve been constipated I haven’t been taking it much. My doctor said since I am not anemic I don’t need to take it (although I think I’m not anemic because I was taking it) but until she tells me otherwise, I will take it when I feel like it and not at other times. I would definitely switch to a separate PNV and iron pill unless your doc has specifically said otherwise so that you can still take your PNV daily.
  • I think I'm just too in touch with my body. I feel everything! All the growing pains. My boobs have been sore since week 5, I went up a size a while back. I'm 16 weeks in two days.. neasousness has decreased, not really throwing up much anymore. I can smell everything still. H has to brush his teeth first thing or I throw up, I can't do morning breath. Still have my food aversions with seafood and raw meats (can't cook them either). My craving has been salad with cilantro and peperonchinis. I don't care much for sweets at all, I definitely love salty and spicy foods. Although it has to be pretty spicy for me to even taste it. Food that makes H tear up doesn't even phase me lol.
Has anyone else started to get a hard stomach? Like right above my bellybutton is so hard and a little sore. I've also been really achy and sore, especially my hips and back. Oh and weird dreams... SMH.
Finding out gender in Monday when I'll be 16 weeks exactly. So excited.

@orangebubbles I haven't had issues with constipation, but I am pregnant with twins and my provider recommended that I take additional iron in liquid form. It is called Floradix; it's plant-based iron, and supposed to be non-constipating. I haven't actually purchased and taken it yet (my iron levels were fine when they did blood work), but it might be something to consider/discuss with your doctor. It's kind of expensive though.

@SkilledSailor - I'm exhausted all the time too and I never got the 2nd tri boost with DS that some moms talk about so I'm not expecting it this time either.

ETA: I think part of it for me is cutting back on coffee. I don't drink absurd amounts when not pregnant, but I definitely have a big travel mug first thing in the morning. While pregnant I limit myself to a small cup to stay under the 200mg caffeine limit so it definitely takes a toll on me not having a big coffee first thing.

  • @SkilledSailor I never got the second trimester boost with my first either. I went straight from first tri exhaustion to third tri misery. Good times.
  • @DanyTargaryen I was wondering if it's because of less coffee. I drank about 200mg a day before. I'm just now starting to drink one tall latte a day since starting to feel better.

@orangebubbles I started taking gummies because regular prenatals were making me sick. The gummies don't have iron, so I asked my doctor if that was okay. She said she is not worried about iron unless it starts to show up low on my bloodwork - and so far it hasn't.

@sclarke7 @spottedginger I am glad I am not the only one with the veggie issue! Usually I love veggies and I have not at all been in the mood for them. I'm trying to eat extra fruit to make up for it, but I'm struggling with what to have for dinner. I finally was in the mood for a Texas Roadhouse salad (and no other type of salad) a few days ago, so at least I got some greens, but aside from that, veggies have been so unappetizing to me for weeks!
  • @SkilledSailor I’m doing better with my energy levels through the morning, and then I crash around 4. I perk up when I get home from work and play with my son, but after we put him to bed it’s a race to see if I can get dinner in my month before I fall asleep on the couch...and I’d say we’re at about a 50% success rate at this point. It’s better than before but the exhaustion is REAL.

On the flip side, this baby must have a party at 4 AM every day because I wake up like clockwork! Most mornings I’m able to go back to bed but on the ones when I can’t....ouch.

@SkilledSailor in the same boat, everyone keeps telling me how in second tri you get a boost and it's the perfect time for a baby moon and I'm just covering the distance from bed to kitchen to couch... doc said hormones only really level up at ~20w so that's what I'm aiming for now!
Apart the exhaustion, now that the vomiting is done and nausea much better it seems all my brain can think about is food. I'm actually impressed and kind of scared at how much I can eat. The burping is annoying though.
    Hope everyone is well!
  • I’m 15 weeks now and suddenly have less energy.

Sleeping 10 hours each night, plus I took a 2 hour nap today and canceled our evening plans. This is the opposite of what I expected entering second tri.
  • @SkilledSailor I never got the 2nd tri boost of energy with DD. I'm pretty convinced that it's a myth  Any way, I think a big part of my problem was that I was anemic. I started to feel slightly better right before the 3rd tri sluggishness settled in.
  • The pregnancy insomnia is real. I am so tired (pun intended) of waking up at 4am and not being able to fall back asleep. Also I am super gassy and constipated. I know I need to drink more but I have always had trouble with that. Almond milk usually helps me poop but yesterday no luck.
  • @yosemite2018 Insomnia here too :( I wake up so frequently during the night.

AFM: 14 weeks and still vomiting daily. I keep hearing this is going to go away and yet...

  • @adirat I’m sorry you are still so sick. My nausea and vomiting is at least starting to trickle off. A good day or two and then a bad day. I hope yours starts getting better soon!! Being that sick is miserable!
  • @yosemite2018 one of the (many) reasons I still have some coffee most days is because it helps with my constipation! Also I love it....but it’s full of antioxidants and helps me poop so I feel super justified in having some.

I’ve been struggling with sore boobs. Still, since the day I found out I was pregnant. I’ve already purchased new nursing bras because the ladies keep growing and it’s hard to sleep! They hurt so much unless supported just right. Ugh. I used to have cute tiny boobs and they’re turning into monsters. Is it true they get bigger each pregnancy?
  • @yosemite2018 @adirat
this insomnia is the worst! We’re supposed to be stocking up on sleep not hanging out wide awake from 3:30-5:00 every night!
  • @chillmama1518 it’s always 3:30-5! Lol the worst.

Initially, I thought my sleep issues were due to the fact that for years I took medicine for anxiety and insomnia (it was the only reason I was sleeping) and I tapered off all the meds when TTC. Now I realize that it’s normal and I’d be in this boat anyway lol.
  • @orangebubbles - I second probotics and also suggest a little bit of prune juice in the a.m. Have you also had a coffee aversion? That could impact your bathroom habits. I skip my PNV from time-to-time, like you do, when I want to make myself less constipated. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
  • @DanyTargaryen Thinking of you! Hope it's nothing serious. Keep us updated.
  • @DanyTargaryen If I may, I just wanted to add that PVC’s aren’t necessarily a danger, but underlying causes should be investigated to see if there is something driving them (electrolyte disturbance, heart valve problem). Everyone has PVC’s from time to time, and most people don’t feel them to know they are having them. When they occur in greater frequency and cause symptoms, that’s time to check them out. It sounds like you are in great hands! I had frequent PVC’s a few years ago and it turns out I had low potassium levels from drinking waaaayyy too much coffee and peeing too much potassium out (caffeine is a diuretic). It was a quick easy fix to supplement with potassium and cut back my caffeine. Just an example.

Add me to the still exausted club! I blame my job, DS, and lack of regular time to nap.

Disclaimer: I am a health care provider, and don’t mind handing out health care info as needed for reassurance, but please don’t substitute internet info for actual health care!  :)
I'll take all the information I can so thanks! I can't remember what I posted at the end of last week but I did have an echo Friday afternoon to check for any structural issues. I meet with the cardiologist Wednesday morning to discuss the results so I'd imagine he'll have some suggestions for me on what to do assuming the issue is not structural.

  • Is wanting to kill your spouse a symptom? I swear every single thing he does annoys me right now. Otherwise I’m feeling pretty good as I recover from a nasty cold. I just miss decongestants. Energy is back up and haven’t felt nauseated in a few weeks. I’m just a hungry hungry hippo at all times.
Obviously check with your own OB and all that, but my OB approved Sudafed after 13 weeks if really necessary. I try to limit meds as much as possible but I gave in and took one this morning since it was becoming painful to blow my nose from all the head congestion and I figured one or 2 doses of Sudafed (since I'm past 13 weeks) was better than developing a sinus or ear infection!
