Why are you high-risk? Geriatric uterus (LOL!) and Diabetes

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Weekly phone call with the diabetes team - they lowered my doses last week because of the crashes and no lows since! I'm running a little higher than they would like (fasting is around 110 and 1 hr post meal is sometimes in the 160s-170s) but they said they would rather see that then risk me crashing like that again

Rants/Raves/Questions? Ditto @harleyquinn0621 - just waiting for the magic of 2nd tri to kick in. I'm still asleep most nights by 8:30.

I do have a mini rant though. Does anyone else feel like they're having a hard time being as supportive of family and friends as they used to? So my sister is going through some stuff and I'm trying my very best to be there and support her as best I can but... it's kind of tough when I'm struggling to get my sugars under control, dealing with the pregnancy fatigue, DH just lost his job, etc, etc. I just feel like I don't have anything left in my to give and it's kicking in all this guilt. Which helps nothing. Anyway, just needed to rant a bit.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given? Ooohhh, this is a good one! Practical gift is my Roomba lol! I love that thing! His name is Simon and he comes out to play with DS and torture the dog every few days. Best gift ever is when I was in the Army and my parents were coming to visit. They didn't tell me but they brought my little sister with them! It was the best surprise ever, so I'll call it a gift

blood sugar is good- if my meter is running accurate (which last A1C it was) i am still running a 5.3 or 5.4 A1C ... next appointment i am going to ask for another A1C to be drawn

how has your blood sugar been?

  • @harleyquinn0621 - I hope the days FLY by for you and Friday gets here quick!

My sugars are doing ok, I think I'm running about a 6 / 6.1 A1C right now. I have another draw in 3 weeks I think? They're re-testing my thyroid levels too, I guess that they came back wacky but that can be totally normal during pregnancy. Oh, and I'm doing a re-do 24 hour urine panel this weekend too so yay. It's such a pain to plan an entire day to stay home because as glamorous as those urine jugs are I don't want to haul them around with me.

  • I’m glad you ladies are able to get your sugars into good numbers! Also that it’s cerclage week so you can start to breath easier.

    How far along are you?

    17w1d today

Why are you high-risk? History or PTL, MCs, IR, IC. . . .

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Just had my 16-18 w check up. I was a bit worried as movement has all but stopped, and I slipped and face planted hard at practice last week. So I got a ‘crappy’ hand held US today. Baby is fat&happy.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Today I’m exhausted. Yesterday was an ugly train wreck trying to get our new suburban titled/registered. Since it had been traded into a dealer, they traded to a dealer, who we purchased from: no one had titled it to themselves, so it looked stolen. I actually had handcuffs on before the lady decided she would check my story and call everyone. It got cleared, but now I can’t drive until they all do their paperwork and transfer title which is 2-3 per transfer. FML!

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given? My senior year of high school my dad gave me a horse. I had been training her so let my disabled dad mount and ride her(he has bad knees and hips, so she would lay down), and he signed her registration over to me! It was a huge surprise, and I got to use her for ‘advertising’ my skills as a trainer whenever we went somewhere.

i'm jealous you're feeling movement. obviously i'm early but last time at 19w i still wasn't feeling movement, so i don't know when that will happen this time. & as I enter the second trimester and symptoms start to fade away PGAL brain hits hard

  • @mrsbubbles-2 dh's parents gifted us a roomba for christmas. It has eliminated my daily sweeping and keeps on top of the cat hair/my hair/kitty litter. Ours is named Black Hole. Its one of my favorite first world pleasures
  • How far along are you?
    15w+3

    Why are you high-risk?
Crohns, autoimmune liver disease, autoimmune arthritis

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Ob/mfm visit on Friday woo. They screwed up scheduling the correct ultrasound, so I'll have to go back next Tuesday

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Ultrasound scheduling issue made me cranky, especially now that Dh spur of the moment will be gone for two weeks starting Sunday, and will miss it. Arthritis is flaring big time, especially in hips and ankles. Heating pads/ice arent cutting it.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given?  Eh this is slightly controversial, but Dh gave me a shotgun for self defense/home defense (we both have extensive firearms training and experience). The thought behind it was extremely sincerne and well thought out.
  • @mrsbubbles-2 ugh, I HATE the 24 hour urine collection. I work full time and had to drag those things into my office twice in my last pregnancy. That was absolutely mortifying... I also love my Roomba, though it was a gift to myself!!

@harleyquinn0621 good luck with your cerclage!!

@princesslockness wtf, I can’t believe they actually handcuffed you?!?!?!

Why are you high-risk? RPL, Septate uterus (corrected), ancient uterus

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Nope - next appointment isn't until Mar 19. :'(

Rants/Raves/Questions? RANT: I have to rant at myself. I'm finding I have a lot more energy lately ,but not to do what I need to do. I go to the gym, stay up late watching TV or reading, but I'm not doing my grad school work or grading papers. UGH. It's like I only have energy to do fun stuff, but make me adult and I want to go to bed.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given? DANG - I don't even know! Probably my engagement ring. (Does that count as a gift?) It's a big ruby and I love it.

@harleyquinn0621 Happy cerclage week! Do come back and tell us how it went and how you're feeling!

@mrsbubbles-2 I don't know if I'm feeling the way you are regarding family, but I have noticed my patience for crap is much less than it was a few months ago.

@princesslockness Holy crap - hand cuffs?? I would have flipped out. Thank goodness it all got straightened out.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 yes, and it’s getting harder to not respond in a not so positive manner. My sister is a Debbie downer and just loves to bitch and moan and I want to tell her to piss off!

    How far along are you?
    16w6d

    Why are you high-risk?
Genetic condition, autoimmune disease, heart condition, high risk for preterm delivery

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
None this week, next appointment is the anatomy scan with mfm on 3/13

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Oh boy, it’s been a week. We might be moving for DH’s job, 5 states away where neither of us has ever been. It’d be a good move professionally for him, but it would happen when I’m 7 months pregnant. My mom just told me she will be missing my baby shower because my sister insists on having a graduation party on the day it was planned for (my mom lives on the other side of the country, this is her first grandchild). And I have terrible insomnia, so I am struggling to deal with stuff during the day because I am just so dang tired from being up half the night.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given?
DH surprised me with a necklace of a plumeria flower from Hawaii (where I grew up) that he special ordered from a jewelry shop in Hawaii.
  • How far along are you?
    14w2d

    Why are you high-risk?
    AMA, GD, history of hypertension

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
I see the OB tomorrow afternoon, not sure why I'm going to see him without an ultrasound to at least check on "Ursula", my ovarian cyst, but whatever.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
It's been a whole month, why can't I have an ultrasound?! Super jealous of you folks with walk-in ultrasound places.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given?
Going to sound corny, but my stove/oven. My parents bought it for me when we were really struggling financially, and were dealing with the POS all electric one that came with the house. The door wouldn't stay closed, so you had to hold your tongue right and pull the "clean oven" lever just so to keep the door closed while baking. Only it accidentally got locked and turned the clean oven on with two Thanksgiving pies in there. I panicked and shut the whole house power off, just to kill the stove. That Christmas, they got me the gas stove I'd dreamed off. I actually bawled because it meant that much.

@princesslockness Holy cow! I think you need a cupcake and a latte.

@mrsbubbles-2 I am struggling to give a shit about anyone outside of my house these days.

My elderly grandma has been going off the deep end more than usual, making appointments for herself that I have to follow up on to make sure they are kosher. Like making an appointment to the pain clinic and wanting steroid shots for her knees, even though she has really bad glaucoma and steroids are no bueno for glaucoma, only they don't know that because she won't tell them the important things.

My mom is in full crazy mode because it's her birthday month and their anniversary month (my dad died almost 2 years ago) and she has no friends, has no hobbies, she just sits there and obsesses over decorating her house for every season and then proceeds to tell me which rabbit went on which table and I couldn't give two shits about any of it.

My drama loving friend is just wearing me out. I've had to put my foot down over some things and she's not handling it well. It's all pity parties, and poor me's, and trying to be clingy.

    A) I'm a severe introvert. I need space and time to recover after socialization.
    B) It's the winter. I turn into a cave troll from December through March. Don't bug me.

And she doesn't understand or care about any of it. I didn't know a best friend who lived 2 hours away could be so damned smothering. She's convinced I'm not telling her "everything", so she's been bugging the piss out of my husband via email and texts, and I think he's fed up as well.

    /end rant *deep breaths*
  • How far along are you? Ummm is it 14 wks 5 days? I think

Why are you high-risk? Ds has numerous birth defects and I had pregnancy induced hypertension

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Nope, but I get my teeth cleaned tomorrow. I love getting my teeth cleaned

Rants/Raves/Questions? I started feeling the baby the other day. I have to lay on my back and concentrate, but it's there

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given? My old coworkers gave me a canvas with Welcome To Holland on it when I was pregnant with ds and we knew he was sick. I cry every time I see it still .

    @harleyquinn0621 gl on your cerclage!

@princesslockness wow that sounds terrible! I can't believe it for so escalated!

  • How far along are you?
    14w4d

    Why are you high-risk?
History of pregnancy induced hypertension and intrauterine growth restriction, AMA

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
No, I have a routine OB visit in an hour though.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I always get really nervous before appointments, even routine ones, like I'm waiting for the ball to drop even though there's no indication that anything is wrong. Anyone else? It doesn't help that BP is my big worry, and of course when I'm anxious that raises my BP, so I'm constantly freaking out that it will be high in the office and spiral me into a boatload of tests like 24 hour urine collections (which, as I mentioned above, I hate!) and then I'll have to try to convince them it's not unnecessary because my BP was totally normal when I checked it at home even this morning (and every day, for that matter, because I check it obsessively).

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given?
My DH is pretty good at gift-giving (a skill that I lack entirely). For my 40th bday he surprised me with a weekend in a mountain resort, loads of hiking, and a 90 minute massage at their spa.

  • @meeks2020 Yay for movement!!! I could have sworn I felt something last night too... it sort of freaked me out because I was at least 20 weeks before I felt anything last time, but it definitely didn't feel like gas or anything else like that. We're about the same amount of time along. I've heard it can happen earlier with second pregnancies so maybe it's real - so exciting!

  • @redheadbride15 I felt ds at 16 weeks last time, and I know it's definitely baby,  maybe you are feeling it too?! I hope so! Also I know how you feel waiting for the shoe to drop. There's no name for it, but pregnancy after a complicated pregnancy has its own mind set And stressors, it's hard to explain unless you've been through it.  Keep trying to stay positive  <3

  • @harleyquinn0621 - I hope you get a really great OB!

I've thought I've felt movement a few times but then remember I have an anterior placenta so I probably just have a very active imagination. But I remember clear as day when I had my first "real" kick with DS and it was so crystal clear. Just waiting for that magical moment!

  • @meeks2020 thanks :) I feel better after the appointment. My BP was high, of course, because my OB had been running late, leaving me with extra time to fret in the waiting room and then the MA who checked me in and did my vitals was super bitchy (not the usual person), but my OB told me she wasn’t worried unless it’s a clear trend and that it’s reassuring that my BP has been normal at home.

@mrsbubbles-2 we aren't super close, but when she got pregnant she let us know in advance the announcement was coming because of all our losses, we knew we were pregnant again by then and let her know so she didn't feel bad. since then we've talked about the playdates and such, so i think it will be awesome...

the only catch- sometimes, i think about if something happens and i lose this baby how difficult it will be to watch hers hit all the milestones ours should be.... but i just try to push that to the back of my mind

    15 weeks

    Why are you high-risk?
    Type 2 diabetes.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
    Nothing until March 14th.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I would like to thank my bladder for holding it together while I sneeze for the billionth time in a row. Doubtful that will happen after this one is born.
I am also waiting for this burst of any type of energy to show up. I really want to deep clean my house but my mind and body are not on the same page!

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given?
I would say my High School diploma. When I graduated I had a fine from a school book that was stolen. My mom couldn't afford to cover the charges at the time so I never got my actual diploma. 2 years later she went back and paid the school and got me my diploma for Christmas. It was one of the sweetest things she has done for me besides give me life.

  • @harleyquinn0621 Hope you're doing well!! Let us know an update when you can <3
  • Ugh, I’m late to the party again this week! My goal is to be better about bumping in the upcoming weeks!

How far along are you? 16+5

Why are you high-risk? Prior pre-term birth and myomectomy

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Had a follow-up with my OB yesterday and got our progesterone started (my ass is stilll stinging today)! Went in for my first transvaginal ultrasound after that and because I haven’t been there yet, the tech did a whole anatomy scan to have on my file. My cervix and the baby look great and we even found out the sex: GIRL!!! I’m beyond shocked and so excited (even though DS is adamant that he wants a brother).

Monday I get PAT done for my lymph node biopsy. Just waiting to get over that hurdle.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Still feeling exhausted. I had my OB draw an iron panel just because I feel so unusually drained. This nor’easter is pretty crazy, there was a tree that fell down the street and is blocking the road. Not really a whole lot to rant about, other than when my mind wanders and swells on this melanoma. I’m really trying to just focus on positive thoughts!

GTKY: What is the best gift you have been given? Hhhmmm this is tough... DH and I are pretty terrible at gifts and just go buy stuff we want. After my grandmother passes, my mom gifted me her wedding ring and I wear it every day. I’d say that’s one of the most special gifts I’ve received... and I guess my kids too? I’ll thank DH for those!
  • @harleyquinn0621 yay! So glad it went well!!! Get plenty of rest, you’ve got this :)

@mrs_drc_rn was just wondering how you’re doing! Sorry about the shots but super duper congrats on the girl!!! Keep us posted with how Monday goes, I’ll be thinking of you! <3

And I hope everyone on the east coast is safe and warm! Thinking of all of you!

I know I’ve posted a lot today but there isn’t much else to do while I’m in bed all day lol

My dr made it clear yesterday I’d be on tight movement restrictions and pelvic restrictions for the remainder of the pregnancy...one day in bed and I already feel like I’m going crazy

after this weekend I don’t have to stay in bed but he wants me sitting more than standing

I know if we can get her here safely it will be worth it.. but in the meantime the mental toll is really hard- and there’s 6 more months to go....

    ok vent over
