Hey all you FTM's. Not sure if this thread is assigned to anyone to start but I missed it last week. But I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and it's starting to hit me hard that I'm having this baby! I'm feeling so tired all the time lately, I don't want to do anything. I'm feeling hungry all the time as well. I have my anatomy scan on Friday, me and Bf are so excited to see our little boy Any appointments this week? Or new symptoms anyone is having?
@babyrojas2018 Thanks for getting this one started up! I'm 19 + 5 and we have our anatomy scan tomorrow. Looking forward to it and also nervous because I just want to make sure everything is alright in there! Been feeling pretty good lately. Thought I was passed my aversion to chicken, learned last night that I am not unless it's been completely drowned in other flavors.
@babyrojas2018 I've been exhausted as well! My MS is gone, but I thought that the fatigue would get better during 2nd tri. Everyone's like "you have so much energy during 2nd tri!" and I feel like I've been lied to LOL.
I'm 17 weeks today! I had an appointment with my MFM (high risk) doctor to check for heart defects on Monday....but a combination of work stress and pregnancy brain made me miss my appointment and think it was today. Soooo I had to reschedule it for later this week. Major fail.
@noideawhatshesdoing How exciting about the anatomy scan!!!! I know what you mean about wanting to just make sure everything is fine. Last night I had a horrible dream that something was wrong with my baby, and I was sooo upset when I realized that my scan wasn't today and that I'd missed it.
@beanship Bummer about missing the appointment! I think I would lose my mind at this point if that happened to me. So nervous about tomorrow especially since I think so far I've gotten off on the "light" end of symptoms and also can't tell if I'm feeling the babe moving or if that's just my gut doing things. I'm so paranoid something is wrong, I doubt I'll sleep tonight.
@babyrojas2018, I'm 19 weeks tomorrow, too. No new symptoms, but the acne on my face is back. Not as bad as the first trimester, but still. I thought we were over this!
@noideawhatshesdoing, I know the feeling about wanting to make sure all is well in there. It's not like we can see in there every day to reassure ourselves. Good luck tomorrow!!
@noideawhatshesdoing Yeah I thought I was feeling really chill about my appointment until I woke up after having that nightmare and realized that, apparently, my subconscious was nervous about it. Just remember that not having bad symptoms doesn't mean anything. Every pregnancy is different, and every body is different and responds to the hormones in different ways. I haven't felt my baby move yet, but I'm trying not to worry about that. Everything I've read says that FTMs often don't feel movement that they can definitely recognize as being the baby until closer to 25 weeks. I tried drinking some OJ and lying down afterwards to concentrate on feeling movement....and I fell asleep.
@supersara2 I had acne on my shoulders in my first trimester, and now in my second I just have it everywhere. Face, shoulders, back, chest. Yuck. I feel so embarrassed when BF sees it, even though he says he doesn't care. And nothing seems to help! I'm excited for my scan Friday but nervous as well because, as said before, I just want to see that he's doing okay in there.
@noideawhatshesdoing I had a hard time telling the difference between movement and gas at first (I am SOO gassy), but you will know when you feel it. It's just.. different, I don't know how to explain it lol. As a Ftm I'm surprised I can feel him already!
I'll be 18 weeks on thursday. Anatomy scan is scheduled for the 26th. I'm also in the no energy boat... we were definitely lied to! The all day nausea is gone unless something sets it off.. which is usually food or bodily functions (tmi: sometimes my own ).
The tiredness struggle is real! I'm not dozing off every afternoon after lunch time like I was, and wanting to be in bed by 8:30 instead of 7:30, but it seems like no amount of sleep at night is ever enough. Always waking up with a headache and 'hungover' feeling.

@babyrojas2018 Thanks for starting this! If I don't see something posted that is for that specific day or for my "group" (FTM, weekend ticker change), I'll start it. So, thank you!!!
I'm 17 weeks + 2 Days...I have a belly going. Something between a chunky monkey and an actual bump. My boobs are ginormous! I'm trying to hold out on buying a new bra because I literally just bought new ones right before finding out about the pregnancy. Let's see how long I hold out. I have a Baby's Basics Class on Thursday, then my anatomy scan on March 1st. That day cannot come quick enough. I want to know already!!! Fx to baby not being a stubborn one this time around. I think I've felt baby move from the inside. Feels like a muscle spasm...
Sorry ladies, I think I've stolen all the energy. First tri I was a total zombie and could hardly get through the work day and had to take naps during my lunch. I've felt a lot more normal lately, and trying to take advantage of that to get in my workouts.
@rachelsogo I've been waking up with a headache the last couple days, it definitely feels like a hangover headache too. The weather here has been weird so I'm wondering if it is because my seasonal allergies are starting to kick off.
Lol, I'm also with @noideawhatshesdoing I have so much energy! Though I can't make it past 10pm at night, and that's early for me since I'm a night owl.
I'm 19+4 and have my anatomy scan on Thursday. It cannot come soon enough! I've been feeling really good and have very few food aversions, unfortunately, haha! I'm ready for things to change at any point but I'm feeling lucky for every good day I get!
I have an anterior placenta so I am not worried about feeling the baby but I think I started to feel him twirling in the past week or so, which is exciting! It's only a few times a day but I'll take it!
We have a baby basics class, breastfeeding, and birth class planned through the hospital. We are also going to get CPR, I already have it because I teach fitness classes but it's almost up for renewal and I figured it's good timing, they also have the infant part. I'm also doing an "empowered birth" class with my yoga teacher and we have hired a birth doula for labor support. She suggested to check out spinningbabies.com, it's been interesting! Lots of into on helpful things to do to get baby in position.
I'm currently having a hard time trying not to cross my legs since I know it just makes hip issues worse and I've had a bit of SI joint discomfort. But it's the only way I'll sit! So frustrating!
@kissableviv what is an "empowered birth" class? Sounds a little crunchy, I'm intrigued! We meet with doulas next week I think, any good questions you have that you asked yours to find the right fit?
Good luck to all who are getting anatomy scans this week! I'm telling you, I really wish there were a way for us to know what's going on in there without all the waiting. Like "kick twice if everything is cool in there" or something.
@zombiehoohaa I'm trying to figure out when to buy new bras as well. Most of my sports bras are starting to get super tight and my regular bras have my boobs almost popping out. They're just so expensive I'm trying to hold off too.

@supersara2 YES! Totally agree! I think it will be easier as they get bigger and we can feel them a lot, but then again at that point we'll all be asking them to settle down a bit!
@supersara2 hahaha "kick twice is everything is cool in there" This made me giggle

@noideawhatshesdoing & @kissableviv I am SOOOO jealous of you both. I must be reverse haha I had energy in my first tri and now, second tri I'm like "blehhhhhh, I have to do things?"
17 weeks as of yesterday- I just cant wait to feel her move! I feel like it will be like having a little alien in there- not sure if i'll be freaked out or excited.
Add me to the list of no energy and insomnia. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and could not go back to bed. I laid there, watching dh snore, wondering if I could just push him off the bed to make him feel my pain of no sleep. Thankfully, my dog came and snuggled with me until I had to get up. I lover her snuggles!
@beanship That's me...at work...in my cubicle...lol
@rachelsogo I'm trying to hold out as long as possible however, the girls are getting to where yours are of popping out. It's just SOOOOO expensive and I'm super picky about my bras...
I’m another on the no energy train. I literally wake up everyday and remind myself why I need my job/benefits especially now lol. I stayed home today because I had another headache. I’ve been getting those a lot lately.
Work blew up today-not because I wasn’t there. But I’ve been working from home all day to fix all the mistakes of others.
Anyway- I’m exhausyed and cranky- feel like I gained 10lbs- this week- I might have.
I have a baby check up tomorrow- and my anatony scan is not until the 28th!
@zombiehoohaa I fell asleep for a solid 10 minutes in my cubicle last week (or the week before, I can't remember, but I can't remember anything anymore lol)
@moguippy pregnancy brain is REAL! Holy toledo! Also, I have another chair in my cubicle so that I can put my feet up...I tend to nap when this happens. The guys in my office just keep walking. Prego needs her nap
@zombiehoohaa I turned away from the opening of my cubicle and pretended I was reading a reference book. My pregnancy brain is so bad. On top of never remembering anything.. I always say the wrong words for things. I have always had this very mildly... like twice a month I would replace similar words.. June instead of July, Saturday instead of Sunday, etc. Now it's like once an hour. I can't have a conversation without doing it. The big problem is I don't notice so unless someone corrects me I have no idea
@beanship lmao I feel this on a deeply personal level. I second you on feeling like you were lied too by everyone. I'm 18+5 and still SO EXHAUSTED ALWAYS.
@supersara2 "Kick twice if everything's cool in there" is the best thing I've read today. Seriously, this is so true.
I'm also on the acne train. The most annoying is they're like... in my hairline on my neck. The chest and back is bad too though.
Also, I've gained about 10lbs so far and I think at least 8 are in my chest. It's OUT OF CONTROL. I can't close any of my jackets around them any more. Like, my stomach is fine and not causing issues yet. If I didn't know better I'd think my ute had settled in my boobs.
@zombiehoohaa that's funny because my boobs haven't grown at all! Which is saddening to me because I wanted them too! It worries me about breast feeding. My OB assures me they will grow, but almost halfway through and nothing yet!
My boobs haven't grown, and I am OK with this! Except it's all in my belly area, which just looks like I ate a rather large lunch...and dinner...and any food that wasn't nailed down.
@supersara2 I want to communicate with the baby like that! Wouldn't it be amazing??
@noideawhatshesdoing I'm definitely not super crunchy but as a yoga teacher I'm exposed to a lot of crazy crunchiness not to mention I live in southern California...it's basically a birth prep class to prepare you mentally and physically to labor. It includes discussing fears and joys about pregnancy and labor, having some discussions with your husband/partner, deciding what is best for your delivery (home, hospital, birth center) who to have in the delivery room...how labor progresses, how to potentially handle an unmedicated birth...how to approach an emergency c section or a c section in general...if you're interested I can PM you the link, she will be doing another round in the spring! It's online and only 1-1.5 hours each week with material and recordings.
@kissableviv Interesting. I'm all about getting as prepared as I can be at this point. I'd love the link. I'm not super crunchy either, but I live in Portland, so I'm a little bit crunchy adjacent I suppose.
Also, re: bras. I bought a few new ones right before getting pregnant, and they quickly became too small, it's where I gain weight first anyways. Finally broke down last month and bought 1 real bra and 1 sleep bra, and I'm down to two sports bras. Really don't want to spend money on others until I have to, my size is never ever on sale. Hoping my boobs don't really grow any bigger, they were more than enough when I started, don't really wanna be Dolly Parton.
+1 for the exhaustion. I am still eagerly awaiting for the 2nd trimester energy to kick in. I also am a light sleeper and I swear my husband moves in his sleep every two minutes. I maybe get about 5 hours of sleep a night if I’m lucky. We are going to look at king size beds this weekend and hopefully get a mattress where you can’t feel every movement.
Also the acne. It never really improved and I feel like it’s getting more cystic on my face. Ugh!
Boobs—had to buy new bras bc mine weren’t cutting it anymore. Even my no wire ones felt uncomfortable. I did get the spanx brallelujah bra and I love it! It’s so comfy.
@krystlerr getting a bigger non-shaking-loud bed was a game changer for us. I’m a super light sleeper and would wake every time DH turned or breathed even. Our bed would squeak and shake like there was an earthquake. We got a king size bed and I rarely even know he’s in bed with me half the time! It’s amazing. Now if we could just put our feet down and say no dogs on the bed I’d been in sleep heaven! Something I’m getting closer to doing the more pregnant I get...

Anybody else's calves hurt/feel sore? Gosh it feels like I have over stretched them but it's been like that for a couple days. I know leg cramps are normal in the second tri but omg.
I keep thinking of more things to say/ask, so expect to see me posting quite a bit on this thread
@rachelsogo that is exactly our bed now. Lol yours sounds like heaven! Haha and our big goldendoodle has free roam of our house at night so he hops in and out of bed as he pleases. Lol. But yes that combined with my husband’s flips (that are like a hop out of bed just to turn over) and his breathing, I can never get a good night’s sleep. Mind you this is all on a queen size bed. Lol so I can’t wait to upgrade and finally get some better sleep.
I don’t think we can say no to our dog either but with his random barking at every little sound, we are starting to practice having him sleep out in the living room and shutting our door just in case that will need to happen with baby and it won’t be a huge shock to him.
I had my anatomy scan today, it went super well! I'm supposed to be 19w2d but he measured 19w6d! She didn't mention a new due date but I'm sure that changes it from July 10th to July 6th? Idk I'll have to ask her. But me and Bf are so excited. I'm so glad I have a group of women to come and share this to, women who understand my excitement lol. He is 11oz. So precious.
@babyrojas2018 Yay so exciting!!!! I don’t think they change the due date after the first trimester because all babies grow at different rate- (but don’t quote me as a fellow ftm) lol anyway-so happy for you!
I have no idea how far I am- according to ME and what I was originally told, I'm 19w3d so let's go with that Some of you are correct in them not wanting to change the due date- but mine is approx. a week off and they don't want me going past 38 weeks so I think they really need to look at this discrepancy!
I had my first anatomy scan yesterday (Fri) and get to have another one on Mon since I see two different Drs with being High risk and in between 2 states. It was so exciting- I think it was the first time I didn't feel nervous or overly anxious afterward, I was just Happy and excited to tell people about my overly active little boy.
The are saying he's 10oz with long arms and legs!
I'm having some abdominal discomfort and they are bringing me back in 2 weeks to decide if it is "growing pains" or my gall bladder *fingers crossed for growing pains*
19 weeks and 5 days here! We had our anatomy scan on Wednesday. Nothing compared to how hilarious my husband's reaction was to seeing the boy parts...pure pride...LOL. We swore at 12 weeks that they told us we'd know better about how baby's growing at the anatomy scan, because they were concerned about growth (based on my high-risk NT bloodwork, something with placenta). Welp, we asked how he's growing and they said it was still too early to tell and that all babies are around the same size at this point. So jealous that some of you guys are getting updated measurements/EDD.
@babyrojas2018 My calves have been so sore. It's the worst when I wake up and stretch. My whole leg went into full-Charlie-horse mode. Yay for 2nd tri pains!
Any other FTM catching the winter sicknesses? I had a little sniffle at my anatomy scan, but now I have a yucky cough. UGH. I'm one of those people who feels bad calling the doctor for every little thing, which I need to get over, but now it's the weekend so I can't call. There's nothing they can really do for cough/cold stuff for us expecting ladies, right? Just a lot of water and maybe some Vick's? Hope everyone else is avoiding the flus/colds/everythings.
Re: FTM check in 2/13--2/19
I'm feeling so tired all the time lately, I don't want to do anything. I'm feeling hungry all the time as well. I have my anatomy scan on Friday, me and Bf are so excited to see our little boy

I'm having some abdominal discomfort and they are bringing me back in 2 weeks to decide if it is "growing pains" or my gall bladder *fingers crossed for growing pains*
It's so nice reading everyone's experiences!
