Did anyone else feel really sore after their anatomy scan? Our tech had to press pretty hard at points to get some of the photos and it feels like my entire lower abdomen is bruised now
@samjjorgensen i remember a temporary soreness with DS because they pressed down a lot. Haven’t had mine yet with this one. Hope the soreness goes away soon!
Haha sitting next to my husband and he still confirms no pooping for me. i really think it's because I didn't eat for like 24 hours before pushing time. He also said watching the actual birth was so awful that he nearly passed out at that point.
No one has mentioned yet the dreaded post -partum poop tho. You've just pushed out an entire baby and possibly have stitches and it all just hurts down there... And then you have to poop. Get all the colace ladies!!
With my friggin hemorhoids colace is a must NOW. I remember being so scared for the first round 1 but it wasn't anything compared to hemorrhoid pooping ugh.
@samjjorgensen Jumping in a little late here, but my anatomy scan at 20 weeks to the day was yesterday and they said the baby is 14 oz, which is 92% percentile! They said they don't worry about it at this stage unless the glucose test shows something.
Re: meat - eating meat well done is the worst, but I've been eating burgers well done and mostly trying to abide by those USDA guidelines. The one I have issues with is chicken - by the time you cook chicken to the recommended temperature, it tends to be super dry. Just eating less chicken...haha.
@samjjorgensen - mine was Monday and I was definitely sore on Tuesday. She had to press pretty hard at times because the little one wouldn't stop moving.
I did get an email of the results today from the ultrasound - they were sent to an external lab for evaluation I guess?! I didn't know they did that but everything was accounted for and deemed normal. Whew! And it definitely said "Boy" too. I hate running errands while the weather is gross, but it's so nice today that I hope to run to Michaels/Hobby Lobby at some point to buy a canvas and some paint. We're going to let DD finger paint in boy colors (and take pictures) for our gender reveal picture!
Ladies, y’all had me cracking up with all those amazing images.
I was worried about pooping during labor too, but honestly in the moment I didn’t care or think about it one bit. Before labor, I made DH swear on his life that (1) if I did poop and didn’t know it, that he would not tell me, and (2) that even if I did know it we would NEVER EVER speak of it. He kept his promise
@pretzellover I think you and I are due date twins? 7/7? My babe was also 11oz at the scan yesterday (19+5). So I think the bump is way off! Baby center says 10.5 at 20 weeks. So I think it makes a lot more sense
@flockofmoosen3 I hear ya - I am terrified of the postpartum poop and could give two craps (lol...) about pooping during delivery. I hear the nurses/midwives are generally pretty good and will quietly and quickly whisk away any poop that emerges.
@samjjorgensen@pretzellover we had our scan on Wednesday at 19 +6 and babe was 13oz! I even commented that seemed big but the tech was all like "nah, no big deal". I was a little baby, DH was not, my brothers were not. I'm scared! LOL! Trying to focus on the positive which is it seems like LO has his/her dad's long legs rather than my hobbit legs.
@pretzellover@samjjorgensen@noideawhatshesdoing I had my anatomy scan yesterday at 19+2, baby measured 19+6 and was 11oz. My boyfriend was a 9 pound baby, I was a 7.5 pound baby, I'm kind of nervous now lol. The US tech showed me the belly and said "well, looks like you're feeding him well, look at that big belly"
@wildtot the body scanner? I have - my understanding was that it's fine because it's not like an x-ray-no radiation - unless someone's heard differently!
@wildtot I have. I believe there is x-ray but so small it’s actially less than the act of flying? I could be wrong.. I also think you can opt out for a pat down and metal detector, but I’m not 100%.
@acunamatada i was thinking of asking for the pat down and detector as well. I did that when i traveled with DS on me. My next doctor appointment is Friday so I’ll ask her.
@wildtot, I think that's correct that you're exposed to more radiation while flying, but I still opted not to go through the body scanner. I figure I might as well avoid what I can.
@kissableviv you are actually a few days ahead of me. I’m 19+4 today due 7/11.
@noideawhatshesdoing wow, we’ve got some big brutes growing! Kinda crazy to think beer can sized already (or slightly bigger in your case)!
@wildtot I’ve flown a couple times now and I opted for the hand wand vs scanner, just to be safe (even though there’s probably more radiation from being on the plane than the scanner!)
During my last pregnancy with my daughter, my OB was super chill. I asked him about lunch meat, and he scoffed and said, “I haven’t seen a single case of listeria in 30 years in practice. Just make sure your food is pasteurized and don’t eat raw meat. Use common sense. There is very little you can do at this point that would hurt your baby.”
I am pretty sure I pooped while pushing, since I felt the nurse wipe my ass. No one said anything about it, just business as usual...I’m pretty sure it was a very dainty poop
After delivery I was bleeding a lot and so they put some suppositories in my butt to stop it, and I think that made me need to poop. As soon as I got to my room I had to go. So I had my first pp-poop very quickly (and urgently) and I think I still had some drugs from the epidural in me, so the whole thing was less traumatic for me than I know it is for others.
Well, that was a whole lot of talk about my butt and poop...thanks for reading!!
Ok so hubs and I are torn on this one... what do you guys do when your kid turns the light on to play instead of sleeping. I think he is now asleep, and DH says leave the light on because his door is noisy and he's a light sleeper so opening it will most surely awaken him. I say, chance waking him and turn the light off because otherwise he's gonna be up at like, 5 am or worse because the light is on, and I dunno if he'll turn it off, and I'm not trying to be awake with my son at 5am, lol. Any thoughts? This is currently happening and will likely have made the decision before I get a lot of input, but it'll be nice to know for next time!
@SmashJam this might not be an immediate solution because you’d have to buy one probably, but what about lamps plugged into one of those timers that will turn the light off at whatever time you set it to?
@smashjam, definitely try going in when he's asleep to turn it off. For our boys, they sleep soundest the first 30-60 minutes after they fall asleep. And I don't know about you, but I wake up within hours if I fall asleep with the light on! Could be earlier than 5!
@SmashJam +1 to turn off the light once asleep. We bought DS a nightlight recently and although it didn’t affect going to bed, he woke up more with it.
@SmashJam I would 100% turn it off, he might wake up in just an hour or two with it on. Also if the door wakes him, maybe he'll be groggy and sleepy enough to just roll over and go back to sleep.
catching up after 4 days in bed with stomach bug - totally going to get yelled at again for losing weight - stupid daycare germs
SmashJam - thanks for the laughs. I was a unicorn during birth...I went from 6-10 in like 15 min. Whole thing was 3 hours, 1 hour after water broke and 2-3 pushes she was here. BUT when I felt the urge to push and announced it, the nurses were pretty adamant that I shouldn't push because they thought I was still at 6 I'd "tear in half" - so I think that means no pushing until almost 10? If you feel that instinctual urge to push, I'd trust your body though.
As for light - we're not quite there yet - still have her in the crib/nursery until her big-girl room is ready, but I second the timer idea and think we'll probably invest in one of those smart outlets. We play classical music as "white noise" in her room on the Alexa, which I then turn off when we go to bed and all is quiet, so I'll probably do the same thing with any lights she figures out how to turn on...if it's overhead they have smart light bulbs too.
flockofmoosen3 I said it on I think the symptoms board before and I will say it again - SQUATTY POTTY. Last time around someone on my BMB talked about it for PP poop so I bought one, LIFE SAVOR.
