@kissableviv where are you going to in Hawaii? We are planning to look at hotels and flights this weekend and thinking of either Maui or going back to Oahu where we got engaged. Hoping we can go for our 1 year wedding anniversary—April 1st.
@krystlerr, same! Either Maui - DH has never been and I love it- or Oahu, he was there many years ago and I've never been. I'm all about great beaches. Are they nice in Oahu?
ETA I realized my question is kinda silly, basically I'm looking for large sandy beaches that are easily accessible, I know Maui has a few volcanic sand ones that are nice but the best for laying out!
I missed a lot today! I’ve been busy. I spent the last 5 hours making paper flowers with a friend for a different friend’s baby shower. In those 5 hours we made 7 flowers. Yikes.
I can ditto the irritation about anatomy scans. I’ll be almost 21 weeks on mine on the 28th.boo!
I also hope our friends come back from hiding and everything is ok.
@kissableviv awesome! We went to Oahu and stayed in Waikiki. Our hotel—Hyatt regency was literally across the street from the beach. It does get a little crowded because it’s the popular beach area but the sand was great for laying out and the water was perfect for swimming in. We also went during Fourth of July weekend which is why I think it was pretty crowded. But it was convenient and a lot of the hotels in that area offer chair rentals. I’ve heard the north shore area is beautiful and a bit more secluded if that’s what you are looking for.
When I was looking at the weather it seemed like Maui was a little cooler in early April which is why we may do Oahu again. I loved it and it was so beautiful so I’d be happy at either place but would definitely love warmer.
I’m so jealous of you ladies going to Hawaii! We keep talking about needing to plan a vacation before the baby comes but it would be with the girls. We thought maybe just going to the coast in CT and renting a house or off to Cape Cod like we did last year but the water will still be pretty cold if we go in early June. I just want something relaxing but know that’s not likely with a 4 year old and 2 year old in tow. We don’t have a ton planned for this weekend which is nice for a change. We have had crisis after crisis happen the last few weeks (the furnace in both our house and our rental house died, sick kids, etc.) so I just want a few days of calm.
I’m jealous of the people who get to go on fun tropical vacations too. I’ll probably never get to go on a big vacation like that lol.
I have another random. We have a bunch of egg laying chickens and recently bought some more chicks because some of our mature birds were attacked by something. We’ve had 5 of the 12 birds we bought die already and today one more started acting sick. I’m really sensitive to things that are hurt or sad and seeing this little chicken act sick and sleepy is like seriously breaking my heart. Especially since 5 others have already died. We live in the country and have had lots of animals pass through our doors and it just gets really hard to keep watching things die. My hormones can’t handle it! If she dies tonight I can already tell that I’ll cry about it.
@samjjorgensen This is my second pregnancy and I just starting feeling confident about baby movements (I'm 19+4). With DD, I could feel her most at night while laying in bed. With this LO, I feel him most mid-day when I'm sitting cross-legged. Go figure! Maybe try some other times of day and positions to concentrate on feeling for flutters?
@hillbillywife that is so sad. I don’t blame you, I’d feel the same way. Hang in there. I hope she makes it through.
Here’s a random. My face is suddenly breaking out like crazy. I’m 16 weeks. Shouldn’t I be getting the “glow” by now?! My skin has never been so bad. Anyone else having even worse skin issues now that they have hit second tri?
@hillbillywife I hear ya on the animals dying being sad. We had a little hobby farm for a bit a few years back and my fave goat died from bloat and I made DH bury her. I cried so hard when I came out and she was gone, even though after I spent so much time trying to nurse her back to health the previous night I knew she wasn't gonna make it. I was also preggo! It never gets easy watching animals in your care die like that. Hugs!
I have a question about feeling baby move, since this is a topic in this thread...I've been told it feels like gas bubbles, butterflies, fish flopping...are there other comparisons than those? I've bariatric surgery, so gas bubbles are painful to me. I just want to have something else to compare to, if at all. lol
@zombiehoohaa I think someone else said it on here too just recently....I never felt those. If I did I thought it was gas or discomfort lol. I have always not been able to feel anything until it was a poke, and I was like, shit that's it! like, straight up foot to the ute. It was pretty obvious then.the fish feeling, bubbles, butterflies....I've never been able to tell.
I guess we skipped FFFC (its friday right?) so I have one for here: I stalk the birth announcements in Jan/Feb/March and get super annoyed the feb and mar still only have people commenting in the birth story thread with how excited they are to hear the birth stories soon. Like, every time there is a new comment in the birth story thread i'm excited and its just someone going, "YAY BIRTH STORIES!" or something and I'm like UGH I JUST WANT TO READ ONE GOD.
@LadyJ2949 yeah my breakouts came back two weeks ago (18 wks today). They were getting better but guess i won’t catch my break yet. With DS i think my acne got better towards the end of second tri. I’m starting to some on my neck, back, and chest which i never get when I’m not pregnant.
@LadyJ2949 thanks momma, she didn’t make it. It’s okay, it’s just a chicken. Once they leave my house I’m not even really attached to them. Hormones are just making me extra sensitive lol.
@SmashJam it definitely doesn’t get easier. Unfortunately it’s fact of life with animals. I’m sorry you’ve had to bury animals too. Zero fun
My kid woke up screaming bloody murder because his arm was stuck in between the crib bars. My husband and I have been taking turns trying to put him back to bed for an hour now. He passes out in our arms right away but the second we put him down it's back to screaming. I'm probably being paranoid but I hope he didn't actually injure his arm. I also hope he goes to bed soon because it's past my 9pm bedtime. I'm really realizing I'm so spoiled by a kid whose been sleeping 12 hours through the night for the past year. That's all going to end in 5 months

I think it feels like getting flicked from inside.
It’s 3 am and almost feel into the toilet. Usually i check if the seat is down but i guess i was too sleepy still. You’d think after almost 5 years DH would get the hang of it. This is what i have to look forward to with a house full of boys...now i can’t fall back to sleep
To me the babies feel like a muscle spasm/twitch, air bubbles, or little popcorns popping. For a while I really wasn’t sure it was them I was feeling but now they’re happening a little more frequently and where I know they are from my recent appointment. I love it! It’s just weird I feel one of them so much more frequently than the other. Hoping to feel baby B more often too soon
@zombiehoohaa This might not be helpful, but I think early movement feels like just before you pass gas or your belly rumbles but it's lower (ute) and doesn't result in a burp or gas. Sometimes it also feels like a muscle twinge too but I'm not actually moving at all.
I personally think the early movements are very hard to interpret, even with this being my second time around. I also think it's easier to attribute twinges to baby movement if it's during rest, or recently following food or cold beverage. You'll feel it soon enough!
@LadyJ2949 not really it seems to come in waves. I use Africa black soap and a tea tree toner. Sometimes i use some sulfur smelling on the spot thing (made for pregnancy) but i can’t stand the smell too much but kinda helps faster than other stuff. I finally gave in (one time) and used acne medicated scrub but nothing magical happened. Just got to let it take its course.
I know I’ve been complaining about this every week, but this snow! It snowed a foot last night! Ugh. Literally only when I have to leave the house! I actually don’t even hate driving in it- I really quite enjoy it. I just don’t enjoy going out in it in general. Plus, I have a really hard time shoveling off my car. I have a jeep and I’m 5’4 and my belly is showing. I can’t even reach the middle of my windshield. Haha. We’re supposed to get another 1-3 inches today, but hopefully it’s in the afternoon when I’m already home!
@zombiehoohaa early on it was really hard to distinguish, I could feel a rolling sensation, kind of like butterflies in your stomach.. but in your uterus? Now I definitely feel kicks and pokes both inside and out but they’re still faint sometimes. Most noticeable right before bed
Anyone else out there who hasn't announced yet? I am 17 weeks tomorrow (STM), but still not showing, so I haven't really felt pressured to put the news out. Not sure why I have so much anxiety over letting people know this time
@cseley321 I haven’t announced yet on social media if that’s what you mean (19w+). Some days I want to but deep down I know that I won’t do it until the babies are here. Feel like I’ll never be sure something won’t go wrong until they’re in my arms and the most casual acquaintances I haven’t told on my own yet don’t need to be privy to any late losses that might happen
Since we’re on the topic of feeling baby...I’d like to segue that into something I’ve been wondering. Does anyone else notice LOTS of belly gurgles/noises etc - especially when lying down? I’ve been having a ton of that lately and am just curious of everyone elses’ experiences
My husband is adorable and acts like it’s the baby communicating with us lol
@cseley321 my work knows because of occupational hazards (I’m a nurse so there’s things I can’t do or be around) and family knows. We have no plans of a social media reveal or anything like that.
@ashbub714 I haven’t noticed it as much lately but my stomach/intestines were nuts through the first trimester!
@paytonpedro I hope it stops! @hillbillywife sorry about the chicken. It's always so sad with animals:( @wildtot DH is religious about the toilet seat but who knows how things will change with another boy in the mix!
I'm pooped after teaching my class this morning so I took a long shower and gave myself a mini pedicure. Now to pick up the house since we have a consultation with the doulas at 2!
@cseley321 FTM and we haven’t announced on social media yet, either. I think we will after our anatomy scan next week, but honestly who knows. I do social media for work so I tend to keep my personal social media pretty quiet. Which is the opposite of most people in my field
ugh bad body image day now that baby is pushing out my stomach more my fat is almost falling down over it creating a very very unflattering sillouette. Im in tears! I have gained 4 lb this pregnancy so far thats jt but mmI have definitely not been eating very well and my body shows it. all I want to do is try to work out so hard but my body can barely take walking and lifting for work and just feeling exhausted I have been failing at trying to work out. I so badly wanted to look differently my second pregnancy but with this being somewhat a surprise I'm not there. ugh sorry just needed to vent
@lindsayleigh1989 Aww Mama. I’m right there with you. Just remember that you look how you look because you’re growing a human, which basically makes you a Superhero. And Superheroes always wear those tight bodysuits and look hot AF. So, if you’re a Superhero you automatically look amazing in whatever you wear. Logic.
Well tonight is the next get of my actual sleep test. I already have panic attacks at night and now all my coping mechanisms have been taken away. No baths- no lotion- no legs stretching exercises- no nothing. AND they take away the phone and TV. no clocks allowed either so I will have no clue what time it is. Here is to just getting this the F done with
@elizabethrn87 Good luck! Is this the part where you actually try a mask to see if it helps your sleep? If so, my husband has sleep apnea and said that was the best night of sleep he'd maybe ever had (even with all the wires, not his bed, away from home, etc). He'd gone so long with basically no sleep (without knowing it) that when he finally did sleep, it was fantastic! I hope it goes just as well for you
