How far along are you? 10 weeks today.

How old are your other kid(s)? DS will be 15 months in a few days.

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else). DS has been fighting some weird bug for the last few days that has not been consistent. Sick one day, fine for a day or two, down for the count again... can't figure it out and hoping it goes away soon! Poor kid.

GTKY:  What is your favorite food this pregnancy? Is it a pregnancy only thing or do you like it all the time? Nothing out of the ordinary, but oh man am I DYING to get my hands on those new Nacho Fries from Taco Bell. I love cheese fries and nachos any day of the week so those are right up my alley. It took everything in me last night not to stop at the Taco Bell next to my gym after I did some cardio. In retrospect, I should have stopped. Would have made dealing with a pukey toddler as soon as I got home not as bad...

As for gender... we are Team Green so will report back in ~30 weeks ;)

How old are your other kid(s)? He'll be 3 next week!

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)-  We just went through potty training and he's doing quite well. I'm proud of him, and proud of myself for never puking while cleaning up messes haha! Otherwise he is just ALL about babies, so when we told him about this baby the other day, he got super excited and now will say "my baby is in your belly!" and talk about naming it and feeding it

GTKY:  What is your favorite food this pregnancy? Is it a pregnancy only thing or do you like it all the time? I had a weird craving for quiche lorriane over the last week, so I've had it twice. Normally not a huge fan but man it was good. I've also been craving NYC breakfast sandwiches on good NYC bagels, but I'm in SoCal and the one bagel shop I went to this weekend to try to satisfy the craving was a huge disappointment - they microwaved the eggs and bacon *gag*. I've also been craving lemonade and key lime pie and everything tart like that.

It makes me feel better that it has taken longer for others. Pull ups for us were the backward slide, I think, they made me lazy and he had accidents, so he might be associating the undies with pull ups. I have started doing no pants at home again.

@scottishlass1213 I gotta ask...when you say the 3 day method worked well...does your kid still have regular accidents? We did the 3 day and he was a boss for like, 3 weeks, and then its just like someone else described, he has major fear of missing out so he'll just pee his pants or even ON THE FLOOR.

@mrsbubbles-2 that watch idea seems like it might work. He might like it if I say its a watch like our fit bits or something!

@SmashJam when is your due date? I didn’t realize we already had people hitting 15 weeks!!  :o
  • Options
@SmashJam he probably no joke had one or two accidents period. He’s now almost and he potty trained close to 3 maybe I can’t even remember and I’m see he’s a fluke but he was so easy so my next will probably be terrible hahaha google the “no pants” method. You really have to block the calendar though for a few days.

Sorry just realized you said you did that method!

@SmashJam so we are teachers, and did the potty training over the summer when DD turned two. We tried the three day method, but that failed miserably. I believe that only works when the kid is 100% ready. Mine wasn't. She was interested, but still a little young. It probably too her a good month before she wasn't having a daily accident, and a good three months before she finally started telling us she had to go instead of us reminding her. It's been 7 months now, and I can't remember the last time she had an accident. Are you giving prizes, or doing a star chart? We tried cheap little plastic toys at first, but turned out chocolate chips were the ticket.

@dirtanddiamonds I am a July due date technically, but am board straddling-ish (really mostly lurking, trying to get more active!) because I  have given birth twice and both times was induced at 41 +5, which would be August 8. I have no reason to expect different this time!
  • Options
I'm a Aug 7 due date but I have a feeling I will end up being July since I was 3 weeks early with DS1 but I don't think I could do two boards at once! It's hard enough on this one because the website doesn't like to work well at work and I can't be on my phone all day :)

My daughter s at the stage where she does the opposite of what I tell her and everything is an argument. I don’t know if this is because she is four now because this is new and it is very annoying. I feel like we are constantly butting heads and it was never like this. Any other mommas with a four year old.

My 4 year old is the same. So hard to keep my patience when he wants to fight about the silliest of things. I'm sure it's just an age-related thing but it definitely is hard!

My DD was adamant about having a brother and now she has switched it to being a sister. She also kicks my stomach (lightly) and tells me she doesn’t want a baby. I’m so worried about how she’s going to feel after the baby is born.

    DS is 18 months
Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)-
Today is actually my birthday and DS slept through the night for the first time in a month last night! Hbd to me! He’s been waking up twice and will only go back to sleep if DH or I sit in his room until he falls back asleep.
We want to move his bedroom in the next couple of months—any suggestions on this? He’s still in a crib and doesn’t try to climb out, so I’m going to move that with him until he seems ready for a big kid bed, but he isn’t yet. My plan is then to move the crib back and just plop the baby in the nursery with no changes made haha maybe a bit lazy, but it’s less work to just decorate a new room for DS.

GTKY:  What is your favorite food this pregnancy? Is it a pregnancy only thing or do you like it all the time?

Mm all the carbs! Mac and cheese, English muffins, cereal, ramen noodles (DH thinks they’re gross and I’m being unhealthy—no effs given). Also Mexican food, which I normally like, but I’ve been eating it twice a week

Happy Bithday @kburg15 I have faith that some day my DS will STTN...some day...

Do any of you live in a home with bedrooms on different floors. We have three bedrooms, two are upstairs and one is downstairs (raised ranch). right now our room and DS's room are upstairs and the downstairs room is the spare room and likely new baby will be in our room for quite a while but in the future, if we don't move, I wonder what the best bedroom configuration will be. I'm considering having the kids share our room which is quite big and then we would take DS's room which is smaller. I'm getting ahead of myself but it is definitely on my mind!

@ecwk - that's tough! How long were you thinking about room-sharing with the baby? Are you comfortable being on a different floor than the kids? I think I would be comfortable being in the lower level bedroom but only after the new baby is 1 yr+. But your idea of having the kids share the bigger room would work well and keep you all on the same floor! Lots of words, not a lot of advice, sorry!

@ecwk we have all our bedrooms in the same floor but I'm planning on having my kids share a room until they start complaining about it.

I shared a room with my sister until middle school and it helped with nightmares, not feeling alone and helped make us close.

I want those same things for my kids. Also it will make bed time stories a lot easier.

    @mrsbubbles-2
DS slept with us until a few weeks ago and he will be 2 in March so I do forsee baby being with us for a long time unless he/she is an amazing sleeper (unlike DS) and will willingly stay in a crib all night.
@laufisch I shared with my sister too for years and i didn't mind until I was heading towards the teenage year and then I got my own room. So definitely an option!
Anyone have experience with boys and girls sharing a room as opposed to two girls or two boys? I think that might be difficult but maybe it wouldn't be at all!

@ecwk our master and nursery are on the first floor but the other bedrooms are upstairs.  DD1 moved upstairs at 23 months to clear out the nursery for DD2.  We're going to have to move DD2 out of the nursery at 12 or 13 months since #3 is right behind her.  I'm sad to move her up there that early, but honestly DD1 has been fine up there and it's a lot more quiet than the nursery is so they're probably better off.

DD1 will have bunk beds in her room so if they ever want to share in the future they can, but we have 4 bedrooms so everyone can have their own.  I slept in the same room as my sister for years when we were little just because we wanted to.  We had separate bedrooms but she had 2 twin beds in hers so we usually slept there.

@ecwk we live in a row house that has 5 floors. My room is the basement and the boys are on the top floor so we have lots of levels between us. I wouldn't be comfortable doing it if they were super young but the setup works now that they're 3 and 5. If my brother ever moves out there will be another room available on the top floor but I think I'll still stay in the basement. This LO will most likely be in my room for at least a year because of BF and probably cosleeping so I'm not super worried about it yet. I still use a monitor in the boys room though so I can at least hear what they're doing up there and what time they wake up in the morning.

@calimom2524 has a good point, @ecwk , we will have separate monitors for each kid so that we can have sound on all of them when they're upstairs, at least until they're old enough to be trusted to come downstairs on their own if there is some kind of emergency at night.  I think that's important if you're going to be on different floors.  SIL doesn't even have a monitor on her 4 year old anymore, because he can leave his room on his own and it's right next to hers so if something happens at night she will hear him crying, but we don't have that luxury.  DD1 is only 2.5 now but I bet we will have a monitor on her until she is at least 5.

DS2 is acting out do to his sister teething and getting extra attention.

DD is getting her 8th tooth and is super clingy but keeps her diva attitude.

Burgers, lasagna, ground beef with ketchup and mustard. Just about anything with ground beef. As well as fresh fruit ugh! Can it be summer when all the fruit taste the best already? I do like it normally but now beef is every dinner and fruit every chance i get

I’m having bedroom dilemmas too... we live in a 3br house and all the rooms are upstairs but we have two very large bedrooms and one tiny one. DS is in the tiny room now and we have a guest room/office which is actually really useful. I’m worried about the unequal sizes of the rooms leading to jealousy later on between DS and his sibling, but the tiny room is way too small for us to take (won’t fit a double bed). I’m considering having them share the large guest room/office, especially if we have another boy. But then the tiny room still won’t be big enough to function as a guest room (though it would still work as an office) so it seems worthless.

Our master is on the top level and the boys rooms and guest room is downstairs. There’s an office on the top level which we may have the baby in till it sleeps through the night. Once it’s doing that we will move her into one room and prob put the. Boys together. I don’t mind being on separate floors. But i do mind when the kids wake up during the night which rarely happens anymore. Really not looking foreword to the sleepless nights in our future.
