Re: Weekend Randoms 1/19-1/21

  • @zombiehoohaa 3 kids is hard for anyone- especially when they’re not yours! You work out a routine and what works for each kid, just jumping into it would be meltdown city!
  • Loading the player...
  • @zombiehoohaa hugs to you! Don't feel mean kids have such a quick bounce back when it comes to forgetting what you did to annoy them lol. That's what I always loved about teaching elementary schoolers!

Thanks for all the support guys. I am know I have an anxiety spiral issue and I get into scenarios in my head that haven't actually happened but I feel like will because I am in such a bad space. I also just need to stop feeling bad for leaving the house! @hillbillywife I did the same for my hubs when I went to a La Leche meeting on Thursday and he was still annoyed that I went out! I even bathed DS. I think I need to stop feeling guilty and keep making him step up. Maybe he'll stop being annoyed if it becomes easier for him?
  • @SmashJam sorry about your hubs. I would totally blow if he ate my snacks. It’s like you just can’t have anything for yourself. Hope learned from this! At least ask before he takes and eats it all. I usually grab stuff that DH doesn’t like but then he’ll move on to DS snacks who can’t fend for himself so here comes mama bear! Sounds like these guys need to learn about personal snack management.
  • Anyone have suggestions for fast, low sugar breakfast options for yourself and a toddler?  I’m realizing that all my go tos are fairly high in sugar: yogurt, banana bread, granola bars, etc.
  • @gspmom21

my grandmother passed away last Saturday and we had the rosary Wednesday and funeral Thursday. So I haven’t checked in much either. It’s been a very difficult week as my dad, brother, and daughter were taking it hard (daughter just got very quiet). And I haven’t eaten well, so I am SURE I’ve gained like 10 pounds!!
  • @angleyeskkhr i am so sorry for your loss! My prayers go to you and your family.
  • @angleyeskkhr I’m so sorry for your loss!

@tarheelgirl8 eggs and toast, oatmeal, plain yogurt, maybe homemade banana bread with less sugar? I cut the sugar in less than half, add coco powder and sneak veggies and “superfood” powder in it for my toddler.
  • @tarheelgirl8 fresh fruit and oatmeal are big hits around here
  • @tarheelgirl8 we usually do oatmeal, eggs, or wheat waffles with yogurt and fruit if still hungry.
  • @gspmom21& @angleyeskkhr sending you both lots of positive thoughts!

@smashjam sending you butt loads of hugs!!

I'm going in for round 2 of babysitting the 3 tonight. This time I'm bringing DH. He can handle the boys soo much better than me. Lol my niece is pretty easy if I just have to watch her. Let's see how this goes. On the up and up, my brother and sil have a bunch of baby stuff for us (crib, glider, pnp, clothes, etc.). I'll be grabbing some of this tonight. I'll take hand me downs!

  • @zombiehoohaa thanks for the hugs! And yay for reinforcements and hand me downs!

@tarheelgirl8 I second the eggs and protein or superfood powder banana muffins/bread. I make a lot of sausage links on the weekend and freeze them, microwaving two at a time for like 45 sec in the morning. Smoothies with yogurt and make one of the fruits a banana for natural sweetness.

@angleyeskkhr so sorry for your loss!
  • @acunamatada @cseley321 @wildtot @SmashJam thanks ladies!  How did I completely forget about oatmeal??  I do make my own banana bread but I’m not sure it’s particularly low sugar.  Maybe I need to search for a new recipe.  We love strawberry yogurt but we can both eat A LOT of it, and I was shocked when I realized how much sugar it had.
  • @tarheelgirl8 you can also try banana pancakes which is literally almost nothing but banana. It takes some practice though. My first few didn’t look right but still eatable lol.
  • This is my favorite (relatively) healthy banana bread recipe - kids love it! We do usually add chocolate chips though

    https://cookieandkate.com/2015/healthy-banana-bread-recipe/
  • @tarheelgirl8 I usually use plain Greek yogurt and I add frozen blueberries or berries. If you heat them up a few seconds and then add them to the yogurt, you'll get the same thing as a flavored yogurt, only healthier. If you still need sweetness you can add a touch of honey!
  • Dtydfjcdrs@&$!!! Government shut down. I don’t know what my LO and I going to do. His dad is Active Navy and we receive child support from him. We literally live pay check to pay check since I am not working and going to school full time. I’m supposed to go back the 29th but I’m thinking about now finding a job since I’m contemplating on taking the semester off. God knows how long it’ll take for me to land one.
  • I think I just experienced my first full blown uncontrollable toddler tantrum. He has been feeling a little off with a cold but was perfectly happy yesterday. I gues he woke up on the wrong side of the crib today. My husband was getting his breakfast ready and put him down to get his plate ready and out of nowhere he just burst into tears, was holding his breath, then started screaming and crying. I tried to take him into his room to calm him down and he just pressed himself up against the wall and screamed. Then we offered him food and he started eating the food while continuing to scream. This went on for a good 20 minutes. I think it's finally passed. I just wish I knew what the heck set him off...
  • @chicxulub sorry you're in that position, I hope it passes quickly and you're able to get by until then. I wish these politicians would think about the people and kids they're hurting when they act this way.
  • @zande2016 oh man toddler tantruming at its best-I love it even more when it is for no reason! Glad its over!!
  • @SmashJam I think it was because he was hangry lol. I can relate
  • @zande2016 hahaha same.

I asked my dad to be here at 9 for breakfast instead of being here late like he has been for a month. He texted at 7:30 and was like, I'm leaving in 5. I was like, dude you'll get here at 8:15 which is about when I'll be starting breakfast. He said ok I'll leave at 8. Cool, that's close enough. He just texted to say he's basically like, 35 minutes away. So he's going to be late again. Like why the eff can you not be here at 9AM LIKE I ASKED. Sweet christmas its so annoying.
  • So my normally great night time sleeping 2 and a half year old has suddenly decided she hates bedtime and comes running out of her room. I had to wrestle her back into bed at bedtime for over an hour. Then she woke up at 11 and I had to do the same garbage for THREE HOURS. then she wakes up at 5 am and I said screw it and let her sleep next to me (mistake, but I was exhausted). I am so pissed right now... and tired!! I am already dreading the sleeplessness of having a newborn. I don't need this garbage right now. Sorry, rant over. We are going on 5 days now of very little sleep. I am so over it.
  • @cseley321 this has been us this entire past week. Why?!?! He was doing so good sleep through the night in his own bed and now that he knows he can get out of bed and out his room it’s been horrible for me at night. Of course only mommy is waking up to this. Ugh!

@zande2016 same here with morning tantrums but usually when DH tries to take the lead recently  (because i give him the stink eye). Once i take over its usually better but still bad some days all the way to the sitter.

also woke up to this. With 90% chance of more snow till almost 9pm. About 5-10 inches they are saying. I hope i can make it to my OB appointment tomorrow.

  • @zande2016 thank you for the kind words. Seems like this month is just full of downs for me. I feel terrible and out of place to even think about asking SO to help. I never ask him for money so it’s just really awkward for me. He has a great job and he loves my son so I know he’ll help...I just don’t want him to feel I’m dependent on him.
  • I keep having these absolutely terrible dreams that are so horrible I can’t even talk about them. I like don’t even want to sleep at night because of these dreams. They’re making me sick to my stomach.
  • @chicxulub hope the shutdown passes quickly. I’ve heard rumors of some financial support for some departments within the shutdown maybe worth asking around.
  • @cseley321 TOTALLY dreading the sleeplessness of a newborn! I was just thinking yesterday about the first few months and how much that sucks. Feel you mama!
  • @wildtot I feel awful because I have lost all patience and keep losing my cool with her. She is a sweet kid but I can't function like this and my husband always has some excuse why he can't help. If I throw a big enough fit he might watch her for an hour so I can nap, but who knows.

Sorry you are going through this too and I hope it gets better for both of us. I keep reading that it's a phase... but it's almost been a week! At least with an infant you can walk away for a few minutes and cool off. This is brutal
  • @chicxulub hopefully the shutdown doesn’t last long! I’m sorry you have to go through that!

@zande2016 oh gosh that sounds like my nightmare. I have no idea how I or my husband will handle that type of meltdown. I would like to hope we will have patience but I’m not so sure  :#

As for me, I woke up with a terrible headache this morning and just felt off. Then suddenly got sweaty/chills and had to throw up. I’m praying I don’t have the stomach bug that’s been floating around. If any of you are praying ladies please send one my way.
  • It's only 8AM and I've already called my 2 year old a little asshole (in my head not out loud)

  • Looking for some input here...we live in a 4bedroom house (master +1 on the main & 2 up). DS’s room is upstairs and is only used for sleeping. The 2nd bedroom on the main is currently his playroom. I’m so undecided on what to do when LO arrives. Part of me wants to keep the play room on the main floor because it is SO nice to have all things toddler put away (and I can close the door if it’s a mess) and I was thinking I could put the pack and play/changing station in there as well. On the other hand, I want to keep LO on the main floor so there’s no danger of the babe waking DS up and it will be much more convenient for MON feedings. We could always move the playroom upstairs, too! Any input here mommas?
  • @Claireymary your home is setup similar to mine. I am planning to keep the newborn's pack n play downstairs and crib upstairs. I will sleep downstairs with the baby so I can be there for motn feedings and not wake up my husband or toddler. I did the same thing with my first and it worked out great
  • Need to vent.... DH just called me ungrateful because i commented that beef stew with just potatoes carrots and celery was boring and suggested adding other things like corn or green beans before they went bad. So that automatically makes me ungrateful. I’m trying to hold back my fighting words of all the sleepless nights i have because he doesn’t help or when he “lets me sleep in” after we start an argument because he won’t get up with DS unless i make a big deal. Or how I’ve been DSs taxi each day and get DS ready every morning when he clearly can wake earlier to help or drive with me. Oh but no i can’t comment on his cooking because i never make the effort to cook...maybe if i didn’t do all the other stuff he can clearly help with i could have time to cook. Ugh!!!!!
  • @chicxulub so sorry you’re in that position. I hope for your sake the shut down passes quickly. I wish our government would get it together.

Sorry about all you ladies with toddler troubles! My son decided his new favorite word is “shut up” and says it to anyone who even remotely tells him what to do. SOS. It was cute at first because he struggles with talking in general, but now I just sound like a terrible mother in public.

@acunamatada oh no!!! I could help but giggle a bit but gosh that sucks especially when they understand how to use it. I was tried to teach DS how to say “truck” and DH said not to because it sounds like something else lol.

Edited to add that he also says “bye” but it sounds like “die” lol. He recently send it to and old man at the grocery store....embarrassing!
  • @paytonpedro Sorry to hear the dreams have been been so bad! Hope they relent soon and you get a few nights of dreaming of something fun. I had a horrible one last night, but the night before dreamed of flying and that was pretty cool :)

@chicxulub Hope the shutdown gets resolved soon. That is tough and I know a lot of people are being put in a difficult spot right now, which doesn't make it better, but solidarity...? :) My husband is a government contractor and we don't know if he will get paid during the shutdown.

@wildtot Hang in there! Sending creepy internet hugs your way.
  • @chicxulub Im so sorry :( I hope it is over quickly!! @zande2016 this comes to my mind after experiencing my first toddler tantrum recently too! May the odds be ever in your favor!

also to everyone else sorry had no wifi all weekend so trying to catch up as best as i can! hugs to everyone I missed!

  • @acunamatada toddlers have a way of making their parents look seriously incompetent lol. It’s so unfortunate.

so apparently Friday night my son had serious discharge in his eye and it wasn’t itchy and red. So I lugged him and my 2 year old to the urgent care to get him drops for pink eye. Our urgent care place takes appointments and that makes me ragey. If you have time to make an appointment, call your damn PCP. An urgent care is supposed to be walk in. Quick and in and out. So instead of that we had to wait in the waiting room for an hour and a half. While we were waiting about 8 people came in, tried to check in and realized the expected wait time was over FOUR hours long and then left again. That’s outrageous. You could get in and out of the ER faster than that.

Anyways, we got drops for my son and now he’s showing flu symptoms so no school for him tomorrow.

@gspmom21 sorry for your loss. Good luck with the full house!

So very random, but hypothetically, if you found a $300 birthday check in the bottom of your purse that you forgot to cash from 2 months ago, and you decided NOT to use it for bills/savings/anything practical, and you were 15 weeks pregnant, what might you decide to do with it? I NEVER ever ever treat myself, so I just might...but I need ideas!
I would splurge on a pamper me day at a spa: pedicure, massage, facial, etc. Treat yo’ self! :)
