  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert totally strange.

@emsnedds we started introducing it a little before 2. I probably could have had him potty trained by 2 but I didn’t want to push it. We did a modified 3 day method (I still use diapers for
nap and bedtime). Starting off totally naked worked better for DS than underwear, then I introduced just pants and now he’s fine with underwear too. I’d stay away from pull-ups unless you need them out and about, I thought they were confusing for DS.
  • Thanks @emsnedds! Sorry to hear your husband gets no paternity leave--that sucks!
  • I hope you figure out something that works for you @lindsayleigh1989. Just wanted to share, last pregnancy I ended up in labor and delivery with an all day horrible migraine because I had high blood pressure and they had to monitor/check for pre-e. Anyway, the OB told me to take excedrin migraine. The level of pain I was in and length of time I had been dealing with it justified me taking it, she said one time would not hurt baby. I was in third trimester though so not sure if that makes a difference. It helped so maybe worth asking your doctor about.
  • I just pulled off my finger nail.  I really could have used a shot before that!!

I injured it a few months ago, and was trying to avoid pulling it off but it just had to be done.  If anyone has any pregnancy-safe tips for faster growing finger nails, I’m all ears!

  • Still catching up but quickly replying to @sm05-2 before I go back to these damn spreadsheets...
I know this sounds crazy but does your DH have any time off at the moment? Like, PTO? What I did when I quit previous jobs (twice, I'm not really a job hopper) is time the situation so I could take time off in between jobs without going too long without pay. Perhaps if he can hold off a few months and find something this summer, he could find something right around the babe is born and still take a little time in between jobs. However, it depends if unused PTO time is paid out once he quits the job.

Sorry he is stressed, I've been through it before :( it's no fun for your SO, in this case you.
  • @emsnedds I had a friend do what @acunamatada said and had her kid mostly trained at 2 until his baby sis came 2 months later, and then reg ression. So it's possible!
  • @sm05-2 I’m so sorry you’re H is struggling. We’ve had lots of upset burnt out times at our house too. I get what you’re saying about trying to be supportive. I want my husband to love his job and I definitely worry about him being burnt out. It’s a hard place to be in.
  • The OP of the ss thread has two posts total both today the knottie nothing at all except her response... no intro even I smell a troll or an AE. interesting how certain board organization naysayers have not been active lately...

  • @sm05-2 thanks! And it’s okay. I have experienced a similar situation where my husband hated his job and I could tell it was detrimental to his mood and quality of life. That’s actually why we relocated to Canada. I prefer the zero paternity leave if it means he likes this job a lot more. Plus he gets more vacation time even though he doesn’t get to decide when that vacation time can be used. I hope your hubby finds something better soon, or after he takes advantage of paternity leave  <3

@SmashJam @acunamatada yes! thank you! Okay, I read about the naked 3 day method. I heard it works really well, but I don’t know how to keep my toddler contained in a “pee friendly” space for 3 days lol!! I will have to do more research and see if that’s something we can accomplish haha
  • @sm-05-2 i can totally relate with your DHs situation. I’m really sorry your having to deal with this stress! My husband was working over 60 hrs of intense labor when we had DS and although his job was pretty flexible than most with doc appointments and what not, it was starting to put a strain on our family. I pushed really hard for him to stay until he got something else secured. Within a few month we moved states and living expenses were less. He was able to get a more comfortable position, average work week but sacrificed pay for about a year. It was honestly the best move for our family. I also had a major falling out with my old position and only stayed with the company due to pay and maternity leave. I was happy to have been offered a less stressful position but had to sacrifice get a pay raise anytime soon. I’m ok with that because it saved my sanity and i am much happier now.

Your an awesome wife for supporting and understanding him! I hope it all works out for your family! And if a sacrifice is necessary it can be hard but sometimes it ends up being the best decision.
  • Woke up hungry and with a headache, saw a message from my SIL  that my bro is drinking again and they're due with their first in a few weeks. Now im so stressed,  and hungry, and can't go back to sleep.

And I had a dream that I traded in my minivan for a pink convertible without asking my husband or trading in the other so I had to drive it with ds in the back seat no carseat to get to my old car. Oh, also I don't drive a minivan and I used a mattress cc to pay for it. What is happening in my brain?!
  • @lindsayleigh1989 ugh migraines suck. I struggle with them both in and out of pregnancy. Hopefully those meds continue working and you can pass out in a dark room with a cold compress.

I'm feeling so badly these last few days. I am so short tempered by midday with DD, almost 2. By the end of the night I'm checked out. I feel so bad for her. I know she's going through her own developmental stuff and im just hormonal, but ugh its the worst.
  • I tried playing Scattegories (which I'm usually pretty good at) with my youth group kids (middle and high school) last night and my pregnancy brain couldn't keep up. It was borderline embarrassing lol
  • @emsnedds the 3 day method worked like a charm for us. We started at about 2 yrs and 3 months
  • @Sarafuss yay for date night and planners! And I am so sorry you hate going into work every day. I definitely know how hard that is! I hope your DH gets his new position!
  • @smashjam thanks!  If he gets this job I'll seriously cry happy tears.  And I'm obsessed with planners!  I was using a bullet journal but got tired of making a layout for every week and month.

  • @Sarafuss date nights and planners are my happy place! Hope your day gets exponentially better!
  • Add me to the headache group. Two days in a row now, great! Also had an argument with DH, because, once again, he offered to make breakfast before my early meeting but of course he took one hour to get ready and I had to eat DURING my phone call, plus he got offended -as always- because I was visibly annoyed. I really just can't be peachy all.the.time, dude!

@Sarafuss have a great days night! As I've said before I know what it's like to despise your job. Fingers crossed your DH's interview goes great!
  • @sarafuss Erin Condren planners are one of my guilty pleasures! So beautiful and organized. I love going through the process of designing one at the end of the year and I count down the days until I can use it in the new year! #plannerdork
  • @Kenya715 I have had the typical Life Planners in the past but this time I got one of the hardbound ones since it was cheaper and it shipped really quickly (I have always had to wait like 3-4 weeks for them to ship in the past).  The Chrome extension Honey found a $15 off code too so it was only like $26 after shipping!

  • @SmashJam sorry about the headaches, no fun! Also, when you said pink convertible, this is literally the first thing that popped into my head Barbie Glam Convertible - Dark Pink Doll Excluded
  • @kissableviv one of the (petty) recurring arguments my husband and I have had over the last 10 years is he will offer to cook, and then somehow the simplest meal can become a multi hour endeavor (he will spend like an hour chopping something tiny in perfect uniformity?!).
I get hungry and annoyed; he thinks I’m being ungrateful and annoyed. Repeat. :)
  • @sm05-2 Thinking of you and your husband!  Sounds really tough.  I'd say if he's that unhappy, checking out options and seeing if he can negotiate sounds like a good idea.  I was in a bad job situation 1.5 years ago and was that person crying, and at the time I was thinking of sticking it out for the maternity benefits, actually. Not the same at all since you are thinking of how you will handle leave for your pregnancy rather than a hypothetical, I know.  But finding something that isn't that depressing can help make a lot of other things feel possible.  :)
  • I bought kettle chips fried in avocado oil with pink Himalayan salt to dip in my generic French onion dip. Healthier or bougie? Either way it's yum.

Also that's pretty much what it looked like @noideawhatshesdoing, except with a backseat somehow. In the dream, of all the things to worry about when it came to trading in my minivan, I thought the hubs would be ok with it bc two carseat would still fit...
  • @pretzellover @kissableviv hahah this is every time my husband offers to cook. He usually gets all or most of the ingredients, then I usually end up taking over because he has no idea what he's doing or takes FOREVER. It's a nice thought, but just let me do it...

  • @pretzellover @kissableviv @rachelsogo don't forget about making a huge mess and using every pot/pan/knife/etc that you own.
  • @moguippy my DH never cleans as he cooks. I'm not great at it either but...I'm the one who's cleaning it up either way!
  • @SmashJam I don't clean as I cook either bc I find it easier to clean all at the end. BUT if I have to chop celery and tomatoes and carrots and onions, I use the same knife/cutting board, not 4 separate ones. DH would cut one, put everything in sink, look at recipe, see he has to cut another vegetable, take out a new knife/cutting board, repeat. Obv if you cut chicken/meat first, wash or get a new set, but he just doesn't get it sometimes.

  • @lindsayleigh1989 he’ll be 2 at the end of February. I called them today for a dose of cough syrup for him and they said if he’s not better in a few days they would want to see him. It started as a cough and now he has a runny nose, all clear. No fever, but is eating less.
  • @zombiehoohaa I did earlier today but it seems better now.

@paytonpedro love tit for support hoping he has a speedy recovery!
