IF Testing and Treatment - Week of 01/15

Re: IF Testing and Treatment - Week of 01/15

  • @beachbunnyxo123 hugs girl  <3<3

@madspunk That’s a good point... I’ve had trouble turning OPKs in the past, but PCOS does do weird things

So... I just found out I have gallstones (four of them)! The us tech showed them to me, so haven’t had my follow up with my doctor yet... but I don’t want to have surgery! I won’t lie though, I’ve already googled it, and it’s safe to have laparoscopic surgery if KU. Anyone have any experience with gallstones and treatment? I’ve had a few bad attaks already

@ndz2018 I know there's a lot out there about mosaic embryos. When I talked to my RE about mosaics she basically said PGS testing is a way of prioritizing transfers. Obviously you transfer the best embryos first. But some women end up with only mosaics (usually happens in older patients/DOR) and if those are the best you've got, she would say, transfer them. Some labs also grade mosaics based on how mosaic they are, but some labs it's just a yes or no.
  • @ndz2018 the whole point of the BCPs before the hysteroscopy is to obviously avoid pregnancy since you’re going under anesthesia and to keep your lining thin for the procedure. You could do one without BCPs between days 6-9 of your cycle but they usually use BCPs because of scheduling purposes. There’s no way your lining could thicken within a day like that. I’m glad you emailed your nurse but I’m sure you will be fine. Let us know how it goes.

@KristoKekerooni glad things seem to be progressing here. Did they notice a collapsed follicle that you O’d from? Have you ever had an annovulatory cycle? It’s so weird that this one was significantly longer than usual! Do you think you would feel any better scheduling out about 2 weeks to take some pressure off? I know how much effort that’s going to take to reschedule your flight and Fmla time though and I’m sorry this is happening!!

@Sailing_Mama oh no! I’m sorry to hear about the gallstones. Do you plan to talk to your doctor about it?

@madspunk thank you  <3 you made a lot of great points

  • @beachbunny7 , You know, I didn't ask. So I'm not sure. She did measure a lot of things, and counted a bunch of follicles, which I assume are antral follicles.. but I didn't really ask any questions.
What's weird is that I haven't had an anovulatory cycles. Even my HSG cycle, which I thought might be anovulatory because it was longer than normal (but not as long as this one). That time I finally ovulated around CD22.
Anyway, I'm not sure if rescheduling would make me feel better or more anxious to start so that time frame won't be screwy too.

  • @beachbunnyxo123 , probably. I haven't actually told them I am not leaving Friday yet... I was hoping I would have the new dates when I told them. :(

  • @Sailing_Mama ugh, I am so sorry about the stones. How painful! I hope you get them resolved soon
@KristoKekerooni I am so frustrated for you! I hope now that you've had an u/s, AF shows up because, you know, thats how it works- spend money just to make something show that was just about to show, right? Fingers and toes crossed, and that the airline is understanding
  • @KristoKekerooni ugh I’m sorry. I work for a hospital and we have a blackout for work from April through July which means we are not able to take any time off for about 4 months. My director knows we’re doing IVF but of course I compulsively wanted to make sure everything happened prior to the blackout. Now IDGAF about them anymore. If I can’t be there, let them write me up or fire me. Between their bullshit self funded insurance plan (that still makes them money) that has zero IF treatment coverage (once again I work in a hospital and boy did I get fooled on the thought my coverage would be great) i’m angry with them and done with planning my life around work. Plus I’m pretty sure that from a legal standpoint they don’t have a pot to piss in so they can try to instill fear in me all they want and I don’t care. I feel you though. My director did tell me to call for fmla but I didn’t since I didn’t know how it would impact my fmla time when KU and since I wasnt planning any significant amount of time off since I have the PTO to cover it. Anddd I didn’t know if IF is considered an eligible medical condition.
  • @beachbunnyxo123 , Oh no, girl. hospital insurance is notoriously horrible! That's what H has, but we both use mine because it's better (Not good enough to cover IVF, but...). If it helps, IVF is covered by FMLA. Mine was approved (even though now I have to change it all). I only took mine because I don't want to waste all my vacation (then again, I am having to travel for my IVF, so I am missing considerably more time). It will impact time I get later, in that I am taking about two weeks, so that's only 10 weeks I can take later, instead of 12. But I am probably going to switch jobs after that, so I'm not super worried about that aspect.

Anyway, good for you for giving them the finger. Take the time you need, girl!

  • @KristoKekerooni oh good that’s great!!! Are you able to take a day here or there when needed under it also? Was it a pain to apply for?
  • @beachbunnyxo123 just remember, if they try to write you up or anything, you can go to HR so fast and claim discrimination based on health issues...they will stop everything so fast. Hospitals, and large corps in general, live in fear of being sued
  • @beachbunnyxo123 , I could have, to cover monitoring and to cover future FETs, if needed. But I figured monitoring is easily covered by lunch appointments or making up the hour here and there.
It wasn't too terrible to apply for. Applying for STD (which is a requirement for us to take FMLA) was the bigger pain. But I'm not sure about how it'll look once my days change. I just emailed them. Honestly, all it was was having the clinic fill out a packet of info and staying on them to get it done by the due date. I only filled out one paper.

  • @KristoKekerooni I’m shocked you didn’t get AF while you were walking out the door but it’s good to know it’s about to start. Did you fix the airline issue?
  • So I got my results
    -Endo thickness, 10.6
    -Estradiol, 45.3
    -FSH, 2
    -HCG, <1
    -LH, 3.9
    -Progesterone, 2
    -TSH, 2.92

Looks like a script was ordered, Provera for five days. So since it's only for five days, I wonder if I should give my body a chance, or go ahead and start it tonight... hmm. Do the numbers give any of you insight?

@ndz2018 , Right? :( And no, I am calling today around five.

  • @KristoKekerooni your progesterone is super low AF should be here any minute!! You really might not even need the provera. Yay!
  • @beachbunnyxo123 , do you think if I take the provera it will delay it...? Or would it still come regardless. Because after thinking about it, if I take it tonight, my period should start Monday. But if I don't take it till Saturday morning, It might not show up in time to fit a baseline by Friday next week... decisions, decisions.

  • @KristoKekerooni oh good that’s great news! Hoping you feel a little relieved!! That’s a tough one I don’t think the provera will delay it but I’m not so sure. I know everyone is different but last beta I had after IUI she said my progesterone was a 2 and I wound up getting AF that night. If they told you to start it and you don’t already feel AF coming then I’m sure it couldn’t hurt. Looks like you’re close though!
  • Whew, what a relief to hear that it's easy to change all of the semantics @KristoKekerooni, that really takes some of the pressure off... now, if AF wpuld just show up...
  • @ndz2018 oh no!  I’d email the dr just to be safe

@KristoKekerooni I’m glad they saw you today and are hopefully getting this AF thing started. And I’m sooo glad the flight & fmla was easy to take care of!

@Sailing_Mama ouch!  I’m so sorry.  I’ve heard they’re so painful!
  • @KristoKekerooni I’ve used Prometrium (which is a natural form of progesterone instead of provera)... my dr said it basically is a high dose of progesterone which makes your body think it’s now ovulated... so you take it for several days then stop, which mimics the natural progesterone drop that starts your period. With your progesterone already so low, I agree that with @beary67 that it may delay AF if it’s about to start. Definitely a tricky choice

    @kiwi2628 :D #periodgate

@KristoKekerooni I was so hoping to wake up to a post that you got AF in the middle of the night. Did you decided if you’re going to start the provera?

    @shortstack930 YAY for starting!!!
  • @Sailing_Mama Sorry to hear about the gallstones! I don't have any experience with them but I'll have my fingers crossed that you don't need surgery. Are you in any pain?

@KristoKekerooni I agree with  the other posts - with that progesterone level so low, I feel like AF must be just around the corner. If it were me, I'd probably delay taking the provera a few days in the hopes AF shows up on its own, especially since it seems like your flights will probably still be good even if you delay a little. GL!!
  • @madspunk Thankfully I’m mostly in no pain - it’s just when I have an attack (had one over the holidays, but have been good since)

@KristoKekerooni Glad that you were able to make sense of everything, and that the provera fits the new schedule :) it must also be less stressful to actually be doing something!

@shortstack930 How did the injection go?

@beachbunnyxo123 I’m so glad things are coming along for you! Keep us posted when you get the bw results
  • @Sailing_Mama not too bad, honestly the hardest part was making sure I filled the syringe to the correct line! Btw I know a lot of people who have had gallstones and got the surgery and they all said it was really quick and they felt so much better after. I hope you don’t have any more attacks and can get away without surgery though.
