1) How far along are you? How big is baby?33 weeks! Apparently he's a cantaloupe?!
2) How are you feeling? For the love of late night TV, I just want to sleep through the night. Having a lot of heartburn and some cerclage awareness also.
3) Any appointments this week coming up? Nope!
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Just had a childbirth class and I feel as though this appropriately illustrates how prepared I feel:
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? As soon as I get the sex all clear. I'm going to try to go all out for DH. He's been a trooper and I'm grateful.
33 weeks! Baby is the size of a bunch of celery or a ferret. 17-19 inches and 4-6 lbs.
2) How are you feeling? I have a cold so not great. Pregnancy wise, the insomnia is getting bad and I suddenly have restless legs at bed time. And so so so little patience. 3) Any appointments this week coming up?
34 week appointment on Friday!
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I feel so ill prepared for this baby! And 6 weeks left at the very most. With DS I had everything done by now. We at least have the nursery painted... but still have to decorate, wash and put away all her clothes, clean up the car seats and install them, make some freezer meals, pack hospital bags, go through our baby gear from DS and get it all cleaned up and put where it should be... ugh. It seems perfectly reasonable to get it all done but I'm so lazy, lol. 6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? With DS, our first "night out" was just a movie and takeout dinner night in our media room while the in laws watched baby for 3 hours or so - they live next door. 2 weeks was perfect because that's when I was getting zombielike from lack of sleep and deep into baby blues, so it was so good to get a little time out, even for a few hours. And baby was close enough that I wasn't panicking too much about being away from him. I think we went out for a dinner and movie date around the 1 month mark, and first overnight trip (gone 24 hours or so) around 5 months. We'll probably do something similar this time.
Yay our computer is finally up and running so I can copy and paste the questions! 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? We're 30 weeks and TB says baby is the size of a zucchini.
2) How are you feeling? I'm finally over the cold from Hades but insomnia is hitting pretty bad, so I'm constantly exhausted and getting regular charlie horses.
3) Any appointments this week coming up? I have my 30 week OB appointment tomorrow and we've scheduled our 3D ultrasound on Saturday (which is also DH's birthday).
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Like @cford08 and @ashleyf911, I also feel very ill prepared. Last time, DD1 was a late April baby and everything was already done by this point except our baby shower (which we're not doing one this time around). We don't even have the new crib mattress bought yet and the crib is still in pieces waiting to be re-setup (we had converted it to a toddler bed for DD2). I'm actually not doing a childbirth class this time around because with the schedule they offer them, I can't get childcare for DD1. We did already tour the hospital though. At least my appetite seems to finally be making a comeback!
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? Our wedding anniversary falls a few days after the due date so assuming we stay on schedule this time, we'll probably wait to celebrate that until my bday (in May). But with so much of DH's family nearby (both his parents, a stepparent, and two brothers), we'll probably have a mini night out a few weeks after birth just to get some time away from the kids. As far as getting back in the saddle, that'll depend on how I feel. We waited until about 8 weeks PP with DD1 because I still wasn't fully healed at 6 weeks. So we'll just listen to how my body feels and take it from there.
@maelily15@ashleyf911 although I feel bad that you ladies share my unpreparedness, I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I'm SLOWLY chipping away at my to do list. As soon as I get going into decluttering, I feel BH so it's been pretty hard to get alot done
@cford08 Same. Yesterday all I did was vacuum and organize all my kiddos toys and I started feeling crampy. I might just have to assign a few things to DH and hope he's more motivated than I am.
I’m right there’s with you ladies on the unprepared front - hoping to get the nursery organized today, declutter DS’s clothes and closet to make room for LO.
1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
32 weeks today - baby is the size of a yellow squash
2) How are you feeling? Not too bad today. My doctor told me Friday my iron levels came back low, so she gave me an iron supplement to take and it hasn’t made the heartburn so much worse and unbearable. I felt terrible yesterday, so I’m going to have to wait to take it until right before I go to sleep I guess.
3) Any appointments this week coming up?
None this week
5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? I think we’ll probably try to go out after the first few weeks at home. Both our families are close by, so hopefully they’ll be willing to take the kids for us one night.
30 weeks - supposedly zuchinni but I don't believe it!! LOL
2) How are you feeling? Back pain is bad and I can't sleep through the night to save my life. 3) Any appointments this week coming up?
30 week appt and growth sonogram in Wednesday.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I found out my company no longer offers 2 weeks of paid New Parent Leave. I'm in a unique situation in that I am the breadwinner and have to take all paid leave (short-term disability, vacation, sick leave), so every little bit counts. I was so upset when I found out while at work I spent most of Wednesday quietly sobbing in my cube. When I told my manager about the change in policy, she was floored and said she was sick of our company treating its employees like crap. She is going to ask her boss what they can do for me, but she made no guarantees and said she would ask the question and advocate for me. I will take it!! I'm also so not prepared for LO's arrival. Like at all. 6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? I have no idea...I can barely think about the baby getting here, let alone what happens after that!!
@amylonghorn I'm sorry about the work situation. They could have given some warning or grandfathered in women that were preggo before the change. So effed up and unfair.
@cford08 Same. Yesterday all I did was vacuum and organize all my kiddos toys and I started feeling crampy. I might just have to assign a few things to DH and hope he's more motivated than I am.
I’ve assigned DH the same 10 minute task 3 separate times. He still hasn’t gotten it done. I’d do it myself but it requires hand tools and a bit of bending over (which makes me lightheaded these days) so he’s gotta do it. But yeah, definitely doesn’t take much exertion these days to feel the BH start up.
1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 30 weeks on Sunday. Zucchini seems smaller than whatever it was last week. smh
2) How are you feeling? I feel like the bronchitis is finally breaking up, so in that regard I'm feeling better. But like you all have said, I get tired more quickly lately and have to take breaks in between chores. 3) Any appointments this week coming up?
Check in with the Midwife on Wednesday with the TDAP booster. I'm hoping she'll lecture DH on how serious this is, too. He keeps saying "yeah I had that already," but I'm not sure it was recent enough.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? OMG same - so unprepared! DH did assemble the dresser and crib, but he left the tool boxes in the crib and the stuff he moved out of the nursery closet he just piled on the bed in the extra room instead of bringing it to the attic like I suggested. So...now I have to inform him that we need that room ready for my mom before baby comes... I just started washing the baby clothes but have at least one my load and then it all has to be folded and put away. and I haven't decorated at all. We also need to tour the hospital still and get the car seat install. Ahhhh!
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? Oh wow I haven't thought about this. We've talked about making sure we keep up date night after kids arrive, but only talked in general. Not sure about a specific timeline. This is my first so I guess it depends on how I'm feeling and how bad the flu is around here if we can take LO out or need a sitter or what.
2) How are you feeling? Overall, pretty good. Started getting a cough and sneezing yesterday, and I feel a little worse today. Hopefully I'm not coming down with something.
3) Any appointments this week coming up?
Not this week
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I made my first freezer meal yesterday. Yay for at least having some food ready post-baby! Definitely need to make a lot more though!
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? No idea. We don't have any family close by, and I don't love the idea of leaving our newborn with a stranger. Although that's exactly what daycare is!! Speaking of, our daycare has "Parents' Night Out" the first Friday of every month where they'll watch the kids from 6-10pm I think it was. So maybe that once the baby is in daycare. Ugh that's so long to not have a date night. We'll have to do some at-home dates.
1) How far along are you? How big is baby?30 weeks! Home stretch!!
2) How are you feeling? Large
3) Any appointments this week coming up? Not for another couple weeks.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I'll be taking a prepared childbirth class on Saturday sooo I'm about to learn some real shit about what to expect.
6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? Probably a couple weeks at least. We don't really go out much anyways but I think I would rather have my vagina feeling somewhat normal before venturing out to have fun.
30 weeks + 1, my app says the size of a platypus, but at my MFM appointment on Thursday they were messing at 2lb3oz and 2lb4oz so I'm not buying it lol.
2) How are you feeling? Good, just tired a lot. 3) Any appointments this week coming up?
I have another OB appointment tomorrow morning. My husband and I need to decide if we are going to set up a GD appointment since I seem to be controlling it just fine with diet and exercise and if we want to up my monitoring appointments to 2x a week as per the "by the book" suggestion from the MFM. I know my OB said they would see me more often because of the GD so that might make a difference for how often we do the monitoring appointments.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Since I have been checking my blood sugar at home it's been completely fine with my normal diet modifications which makes me feel like I'm poking my self 4x a day for no reason 6) GTKY: How soon after you have baby do you expect to have a "night out" with your SO? I know we are doing a date night when the twins are a little older (1-2 months) so my friend who wants to do day care for us can make sure she's comfortable caring for twins. I definitely agree with not feeling ready. I can't lift things so I'm still working on getting my husband to get his computer stuff into the guest room so we can set up the nursery.

@amanning2011 My GD has been the same way - completely controlled by minimal changes to my diet. On one hand, I'm thankful that I'm able to control it so easily... but on the other hand I hate poking myself 4x a day for what feels like nothing.
Slight update: Dr said today baby’s measuring about 32 weeks (a squash). Since I’m only 30.2 today, looks like I’ve got another big one on my hands. They didn’t change my due date though as that was pretty well predicted by my LMP and repeat hormone level bloodwork near the beginning.
