I didn't see one for today. Let's hear those opinions.

A radio show I was listening to said that the average American says 80 cuss words a day. My UO is that I think people who cuss that much don't have a big enough vocabulary to communicate there feelings without cursing.

@luna8433 cussing is my favorite. Not sure it makes me uneducated, primarily because I am educated. I curse all the time in my everyday speech, not necessarily when trying to talk about my feelings.

With @ftm_ohio on this. I curse a fair amount at home and around friends. I never curse around people I don’t know, around people who I’ve never heard curse (I assume they might be offended), and never in the presence of patients. DH says I don’t have a cuss jar, it’s a cuss pail. However I won’t curse around the babies.

I find I curse more when I’m pregnant. I think bc it’s the only vice I can really have haha.

Actually, a number of studies have been done that suggest people who cuss a lot are higher on the intelligence spectrum .

I love using sentence enhancers. I especially love combining them to make super sentence enhancers. I could put a sailor to shame with the words that come out of my mouth at times. I am respectful with my words though. I don’t go throwing them around when children are present, unknown parties, or too loudly in public areas. Alongside that note, I can’t stand censored music and television. Give me the whole cake smothered in the icing that is Explitives. 

Side note, anyone who uses other words/phrases in place of such words (darn, dang, shoot, God bless it, etc.) are really no better and shouldn’t look down on those that do cuss. It means the same and is expressed in the same manner. Actually attended a service where the pastor touched on this very subject.

Add me to the swearing club. I am a therapist too, so...I feel pretty confident in my ability to express my emotions. I honestly don’t know many people who don’t swear at all, but maybe they just avoid my sailor mouth.

All of the swears, all of the time. Except when it’s totally inappropriate. Then I just swear in my head and speak more slowly so I don’t accidentally swear out loud. Hopefully my kid will be ok but I’m not making any guarantees.

@luna8433 I'm with you.  It's like, wow, you're cool because you're an adult using curse words constantly.  If I hear kids talking that way, I want to slap them lol.  I never cursed because I didn't want to get in trouble, and it stuck.  Sort of.  The only time I curse is to myself when I'm alone because I have developed an internal rage against stupid people, 99% of the time it's when I'm driving, haha.  I don't get offended when people curse around me, but I definitely notice it and how much they do it.

This is more of a confession, but related the the topic:  I used to curse verbally quite a bit, but have tamed my language massively since becoming a parent.  At this point, I curse in writing WAY more often, as a pressure relief.  Like, "yay I can use big girl words!"

I curse like a sailor as well, but I'm really good at turning it off at school. My students have heard me utter phrases like "for the love of cookies" but that's about as vulgar as I get around my kids.  All bets are off at 3:10  though.

I'm a therapist too and it always makes me laugh when a patient swears in session and then apologizes. I swear sometimes in session with my patients when I think the words are needed to exemplify the pain, frustration, ect that they are experiencing. Sometimes the PC words to describe emotion just don't really do the feelings/situation justice.

Add me to the potty-mouth club. I majored in creative writing and I have plenty of words to express myself in a variety of ways. But, look, sometimes curse words are just the best way to say what you mean. I'm not going to use a less effective word just because it's not on some list of taboo words. I don't curse in inappropriate settings (at work, with older relatives or children, etc.) but when it's me and my friends or DH I sound like a character in a Tarantino movie.

That said, this morning I let out a very clear and obvious F-bomb in front of DS. His eyes lit up like "ooooh, Mom's in trouble!" I'm lucky he's responsible enough not to repeat it, but I did regret letting that one slip.

I do so well at not swearing in front of DS, except with the s-word! That one just slips out. Like yesterday when I dropped the mail all over the sidewalk. DS is at that fun stage where he likes to repeat new words he learns too so he was chanting it as I was trying to gather up the mail

I'm not a big swear-er but sometimes I do forget that XM radio doesn't edit most of their stations.....this is how my car right went the other day
DD "mom this song has bad words in it"
Me: "yea you're right we should turn it off.  How do you know what bad words are any ways?"
DD "I just do, my brain told me so anyways"
Me: "hmm, good point, you aren't going to use them right?"
DD"nope"
Me: "Good talk!"

I swear all.the.time. I am trying not to in front of the kids (11 and 8) but it’s so f*cking hard sometimes lol

they do know what the “mommy/Daddy words” are though and they don’t use them. 

DDs first “swear” was when she was three. She ran her foot into the recliner, and yelled out “OH CRAPS”. I was dying because it was a really cute voice AND she said it wrong.
