Re: Symptoms 1/7

  • Selfishly started to ask if anyone else’s gums hurt. I floss every night and brush at least twice daily so I don’t know what’s up. I have my dentist check up on Tuesday so I’ll for sure be asking then. I just wondered if it was a PG thing or if I’m just crazy.
  • Loading the player...
  • @ladygali my gums don't really hurt but they bleed way easier than they did pre pregnancy! I know I read about it online when I was pg with my first.

my symptoms are just all day nausea. It is way better if I actually get sick in the morning, but the days that I don't, I battle it all day long. It's so bad that I can't even go to the grocery store.
  • @ladygali I've never heard this one.... Im super curious what you find out. I have to admit I try to floss regularly- but do not as often as I should... so I havent noticed

AFM, I still get nauseated on and off through out the day. Citrus is my savior... and pretty much eating. AND Im still totally exhausted all the time. At least my sore breasts have gone away- trying to enjoy the last bits of getting to sleep on my stomach!
  • @ladygali I think it’s a pregnancy thing due to blood flow. My gums were sore like weeks 6-8, then it magically stopped. So I’m not sure....
  • @ladygali yes! My gums are so sensitive right now! I read somewhere it’s the increased blood volume that caused it but don’t quote me on that.
My nausea seems to be a bit better but I’m still dealing with food being delicious one minute and disgusting the next. I was late-night snacking on chicken salad last night when all of a sudden it was awful and I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth fast enough!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I’ve always heard/read about those crazy people that don’t like cilantro, claiming it tastes like soap. I love cilantro but last night, I couldn’t eat my rice because I felt like I was eating and smelling soap  :s:'(
  • I’m slightly lightheaded and feel weird today.  Tried to take down Christmas stuff but had to lay down. DS also has a nasty chest cough and husband won’t be home until this evening so we’re both laying in bed watching cartoons.

Other than that mostly just hungry a lot. I’m still kicking around a chest cough I’ve had for over two weeks myself :(

Sort of teeth related but DS totally jacked up my enamel. I had great teeth before him and now get cavities because my enamel has weakened since having him. I have to use special toothpaste.
  • @ladygali I had that with my last pregnancy (it doesn't seem quite as severe this time around). The dentist said it was pregnancy gingivitis and was pretty common in the first trimester and usually peaks in severity during the second trimester (but can effect you the entire time). That it'd due to excess hormones and blood volume. They told me to continue brushing/flossing like normal, just to be a little more gentle. To make sure to continue getting routine check ups/cleanings, switch to a softer toothbrush for the duration of pregnancy (and post partum. The tech actual said since mine were bleeding easier and so sore, to try a toddler toothbrush in the extra soft variety) and to do a daily (or at least a few times a week) salt water rinse (1tsp sea salt to 1 cup water).

That turned longer than I thought, so here's my new thing this week:
The sensitivity to smells is increasing drastically, it's making the nausea so much worse. Also, things that I feel like I may be able to stomach (few and far between, and varied daily) a few bites in, make me feel like I'm going to throw up. I'll be really glad when I can eat something without feeling sick. Nipples still feel horrible when LO breastfeeds.
    Also insomnia anyone?
  • I think I'm finally figuring out how to reduce my nausea. I'm eating very small amounts 5x a day. No food sounds good, and the nausea is still there, but food isn't all completely disgusting and the nausea is manageable. Also I think if my headaches would go away it'd help

  • @kcdo1010 cilantro is always gross haha

My knee is killing me. I feel like it’s pregnancy related, like something to do with my joints. But every time I push pressure on it or stand up, it hurts. The top of my other foot too.

I’m starting to find a correlation with this, too. On days when I eat meals as opposed go small meals and snacks, I’m feeling more nausea....

  • Morning sickness started yesterday and is in full swing today. Nothing sounds appetizing to me and I have food allergies so I also can’t just go and get take out easily. With my DD I only had ms when I was hungry and now that I am always hungry it’s just all day. Luckily DH has been very helpful with DD and recognizes that I’m not feeling well. We’re going out to dinner with my sister and BIL tonight so I hope I feel well enough to enjoy it (luckily they are the 2 people who know our little secret).
  • I didn’t have sore gums, but mine were more sensitive with DS.

I wake up in the morning and feel like I drank a bottle of wine that night before - headache, groggy, nauseous.

The nausea goes away away once I eat or drink something, and so I eat small bits throughout the day. It was the same with DS, and I’m just praying it doesn’t turn into MS because I as lucky enough to avoid it the first round!

If my headaches would subside it would make things a lot better though!

  • @ladygali I think I posted the same thing in a previous thread. Maybe the STM thread. I had sensitive gums with my first as well as this one.

The past two days have been great ms wise. I feel pretty good most of the day, and it only seems to strike around dinner time. So I have been taking advantage of the lack of symptoms and actually eating something other than oranges or cereal. TMI, but my nipples are tingly and tender as if I'm still breast feeding. Sometimes it feels like I'm having letdown.
  • @jchpg. Yes! I’m loving citrus too.

Truthfully, my only real symptom right now seems to be lack of appetite.   :o  I love to eat and cook/bake, so it’s really strange. I don’t remember a disinterest in food with my other pregnancies.
  • Wow thanks for all the great responses. I’ll let you know what the dentist says but pregnancy gingivitis seems to ring a bell and maybe I had it last time and just forgot.

Also, cilantro is equivalent to chewing on a bar of soap for me. Yuck.

I’m with everyone on the all day nausea. My target trip was almost comical with the assortment of snacks and food I got. Lol.
  • @scottishlass1213 that’s me today too. I’ve just been feeling off. I did get quite a bit of lightheaded ness last time but mostly when I was getting up from bed or sitting too fast. I just feel yucky today.

    Also my boobs hurt.

That and my nose and throat feel super dry. I better not be getting why DS has because I can’t take the good meds!!
  • Nausea is definitely getting worse, not better. Eating doesn’t help, ginger candy doesn’t help... I may call the doctor for diclegis tomorrow.

  • @lalala2004 hopefully you can get some relief.

My jaw feels like it slightly moved out of place, and it’s hurting my ear.
  • I am so sorry @lalala2004 ,  I hope the meds help!

  • So sorry @lalala2004 I hope the meds give you some relief!

  • Thanks, y’all. I feel like I’ve been whining so much, especially since I know others have it worse than me. I just didn’t deal with this in my first pregnancy and I’m tired of toughing it out.

  • I feel like I have a perpetual hangover in my stomach and smells are terrible. I was on a cruise the last two weeks (perfect timing! lol) so, what was supposed to have been me chowing down and enjoying great food from different parts of the world was me having an aversion to just about everything. We went to Grenada the isle of spice where I bought some awesome spices that I had to keep on our balcony the whole trip because the smell made me want to hurl! After we got home I made hubby put them outside in the shed because the smell is just too much still. He says he can't even smell it! I am also now the official smell tester in the house because I can smell everything. I'm about to put hubby in the dog house for that because he just sticks things in my face asking me to smell it. Like woah! Watch out! I might vomit all over you! lol
  • @lalala2004 I hope you get some relief. I’m in the same boat as you, nothing is really helping the nausea and I wasn’t as sick with my first. It sucks.
  • Haven’t been on here much at all because I’ve felt so awful. I have a terrible head cold. I’m taking Benadryl to get a little relief from post-nasal drip at night, but I can’t take it during the day. I can’t drink my usual cold remedy of brandy either. The mucous also isn’t helping my nausea or food aversions. And I’m exhausted all the time.
  • Diclegis is a miracle. Seriously. I was not nauseous with my first at all and nausea is literally THE. WORST. I cannot function for anything if I am even a little queasy. I would rather have strep and a sinus infection than a queasy stomach.

This! I called Friday for Diclegis after throwing up every night for at least a week. Haven’t thrown up since I started taking it and it helps me sleep better. I wasn’t sleeping because I was so nauseous. After I started taking it I kicked myself for waiting so long. I was nauseous with my first but didn’t actually throw up, but I wish I would have had it my first pregnancy too!
  • I also got acupressure bands which seem to help some....
  • Hugs to all of you who are experiencing nausea. Hopefully the Diclegis takes care of it, @lalala2004.

  • Has anyone found anything that helps with RLS? I cannot seem to get it under control when I'm trying to fall asleep. There's only one thing I've found that helps and it isn't always possible.

  • Yes, I am so sorry to all of you who are hurting so badly with ms. Mine is nothing compared to yours, and I still find it tough to get through the day.
  • Having horrible MS like my first. I was sick until 18 weeks last pregnancy and I took Zofran which hardly helped. This time I'm trying to not go on meds but I'm throwing up every day and it's extremely hard to take care of my toddler. I started doing B6 and Unisom a while ago and it helps sometimes but not much.
  • I feel bad for all of you with terrible MS! I feel worse in the afternoons but, it isn't horrible.

AFM- I am having trouble sleeping - tossing and turning and I get so hot! I have to basically sleep naked in order to get relief. Also, I am itchy which I don't really know if it is a pregnancy symptom or because it's winter and has been freezing outside.
  • I started to get sick not long after I got my BFP... So I have no idea what are symptoms and what are from being sick. lol. I know I'm starving all the time, which I didn't have with DS. But I think that may be because I'm still breastfeeding.

No MS yet! But that didn't really start with DS until about 9 weeks, so even thought part of me is kinda freaking out on why I haven't gotten my 'main' symptom yet, part of me also knows I'm about to jinx myself. LOL

  • I’m so sorry for all of you girls dealing with ms!! It’s the pits and makes it so hard to enjoy your pregnancy. I had it so badly with my DD and threw up almost daily right on through delivery. This time around, I’ve been dealing with some nausea, but it’s not terrible. Which always leaves me slightly worried, but I’m trying to  just relax and remind myself that each pregnancy is different. My main symptom this time around is I’m so hungry all the time! I’m also still breastfeeding my daughter so that’s probably contributing!
  • @hjmorgan-2 I just wondered the same thing about breastfeeding and being so hungry....nourishing two babes takes a lot of calories!!
  • I'm just so tired today. Like, my skin is tired. My bones. My organs. I need sleep for a month.
Same. I felt like the fatigue hadn’t hit me too hard until today. I’m exactly 9 weeks when it supposedly peaks, so here’s hoping it’s all downhill from here. I’m ready to feel normal again. The nausea and crazy hormonal emotions are at an all time high as well. I’m ready for second Tri now....
