Hey so I’m curious if any other ladies out there are planning to try to go pain-med-free for labor and delivery? Do we want a thread to share strategies? No crunchiness here or judgment for any drugs. I just had an epidural with my first and had a bad experience with the side effects and results so I do med-free if I can to avoid that same experience.
@StephBrim24 I am. I was induced with #1 and just couldn't get through the pitocin without meds. With #2 I was med free. I had to fight a bit for it though because I got to the hospital and the nurse tried putting an iv port in first thing and I refused and she kept telling me I needed to in case I wanted meds later. I walked a lot and labored in the shower since there were no tubs available. We definitely could start a new thread.
@StephBrim24@megpeg I'm planning to try to go med-free too. This is my first time, so that's what I say now... but I'd really like to try! I think a new thread could be helpful!
@StephBrim24 I'm hoping to as well - using Hypnobabies right now. Starting a thread that isn't preachy sounds good to me!
Random thought: Whenever I'm on desktop and click on the BMBs to come here I'm always amazed at how far down the list March is getting. Lord, we are getting close!
@StephBrim24 I think you should start a new thread. I plan on having meds but I'd be interested in seeing y'alls approaches to a med free birth should I (and others) not be able to get meds for whatever reason.

GL to all of you trying to go med free! It was something I strongly considered awhile back, but I'm almost guaranteed a c/s or at least an induction at this point so probably not happening for me.
In a similar vein, would anyone else be interested in a thread for people who are either definitely or more likely than average getting a c/s? Or is it too early for that?
@vflux33 I'm down with a csection thread. I'm doing a repeat cs but I feel like right about now is when I started to panic about a cs with my first, lol. Might be a good time to start answering questions and try to calm people's fears.
@megpeg SMH. Although, I did ask if it was ok to go to a Pitbull concert at 31ish weeks...my MW said it was fine so long as people weren't pushing me around. I admit I felt a bit silly even asking about that, but the movies?? Really? Come on, man!!
@megpeg that almost happened to me with DD. I went in for an induction w/pitocin and after not having much progress throughout the day, I was given the option to have a C-section or stop, eat (I hadn't eaten for 24 hours at that point) and start again the next day. I opted for the latter, and mere minutes after I finished talking with my doctor, my water broke and off we went.
@megpeg that happened to my friend twice with her first and three times with her second. She was 10 days overdue and two failed inductions with her first and 17 days and three failed inductions overdue with her second when they finally showed up.
@megpeg I’m amazed by the kind women who answered that question so genuinely. I 10/10 would have given a BS answer but I think I’m officially too pregnant to filter my snark
@mdfarmchick she texted me this morning and said it's still not working. She dilates to a 1 and stays there. But she said her cervix is turned and not working right.
@ShawnnaO she didn't say... I don't know why they're forcing it anyway. Her due date was Sunday but she wasn't sure of her LMP so it could be off. They were telling her the baby was on the big side(9lbs) but maybe shes not and just not ready.
@megpeg it’s tough to be in her shoes. I can’t imagine being sent home. Possibly twice. Growth ultrasounds are notoriously wrong, especially this late. If there’s no medical concerns, I personally would ask for a few days because I had a pitocin induction with my first—my contractions weren’t “regular enough to progress labor” and my water had broken. And pitocin is just not very fun. Keep us posted; I’m thinking of her.
@mdfarmchick I was induced with my first because they said he was at least 9 pounds and came out at 7pounds. She ended up getting sent home for the weekend and they will do another induction next week if nothing happens this weekend then she will have a csection next Wednesday.
I just bought this baby's carseat and started washing her clothes. It's starting to feel very real.
Side note...I was ordering her carseat and changing pad online, but it wouldn't let me put in two forms of payment, so I went inside the store and they were able to use a coupon I had when the online transaction wouldn't. Worth looking into if you are buying big ticket items. I save $20 on our changing pad.
@DDRRT1982 Yes! I just washed all the baby clothes yesterday and put them away. It's so exciting! But I still have 10 weeks left, I maybe jumped the gun a little lol
@DDRRT1982 is it bad that we ordered the car seat on Black Friday and I’ve had her clothes washed, folded, and put away for a while? I went through a crazy nesting phase at like 25 weeks or something like that lol I’m 33 weeks now and focusing on organizing my chaotic house hahaha
We just bought our house in 2017 and I’m still trying to get everything unpacked and organized, with zero storage space my kitchen cabinets don’t even have shelves in them and it’s literally driving me insane.
@BrittnieMariee have you tried the wire racks you can buy to add storage to shelves? Some of them are stackable? I’d totally be making MH make shelves. LOL
@mdfarmchick we have a few but they aren’t big enough for the cabinets and food gets lost all the time we’re supposed to put actual shelves in there once we get a little extra money. So maybe after we get our return lol
Tonight we put my 2y2m old in his new big boy room with big boy bed and no binkys. He hasn't asked or noticed the missing binkys but having a hard time. Surprisingly he hasn't been getting out of bed, just whining and rolling around in there. It's been 1.5 hours and he's not down yet, I wish I could drink through this to be honest, eeeekkkkk! I might cave and give him the damn binkys!
My 2.5 yr old learnt that if he'll start crying and say his stomach hurts it'll get me to come take him from his crib. He threw up twice last week randomly, so I'm not sure if he means it. Its cute when they get smart, but I'm feeling manipulated.....
@bravoandprosecco good luck with both transitions! It’s so hard, so do what you have to do to get through it.
We took away the paci last night...it was a little rough at first, but we made it through it. We made it a big celebration this morning, which made him happy. Tonight he had no problems...he asked for it, but understood that he didn’t need it. I feel so bad though cause it’s been with him his whole life, so it has to be hard.
Tomorrow his big boy bed bed is being delivered, crossing my fingers that goes well.
@bravoandprosecco haha I said the same thing about the paci for my kid, I was like you can have that thing forever. Thankfully it was gone by the time he was 3. One transition at a time was all we could handle!
My DH and I both had our work holiday parties this weekend. I finally got to meet all of his new co-workers... but one female in particular I am not fond of. She was googly-eyeing my husband the whole time, SHOUTED his name when she first saw him, "HI DEREK!!!!!" and when she left she did the same thing, "BYE DEREK!!" and didn't do it to anyone else... it was so awkward. When I waved bye to her, probably in a bitchy manor of course because I was irritated by her stupid face, she was like, "Ohh.. bye Kiersten."
YOU WILL NEVER SEE HIM NAKED BITCH. Okay sorry, that's the hormones talking. But back off my man.
Also found out she has his phone number, too. -_-
Of course DH is oblivious to it because... well, he's a guy... sooo...
I trust him with all my heart and I know he would never ever do anything. I could tell he was annoyed by her, too. He didn't give her any attention and he introduced me as his beautiful wife to her. HA! But I don't like her and I don't like the way she was looking him up and down. lol
Right!?!? I have a lot of male friends and I am sure to be super respectful to their wives and establish a friendship with them. It's just the respectful thing to do! I actually become better friends with the wives than I do their husbands lol.
