Hey all. Had blood work and an ultrasound today and everything looks good. She wasn’t able to clearly see the heartbeat (DH and I both saw the flicker but she said that might have been my heartbeat... huh?) which I mostly expected since I’m only 5w6d, so we’re going back a week from Friday when I’ll be 7w1d. Can’t say I feel a weight off my shoulders but it was good to see all the necessary bits in the sac, including the embryo. I’d post a pic but it’s pretty awful (just looks like a black void from the angle she took them). Overall the nurse seemed happy so yay us!
Thank you @mac627 and @laurad75 you are right I should try and enjoy! I got super down mid day today right before this post, so didn't help my positivity. After I got beta results my RE told me to call my OB and tell them I'm pregnant. OB told me to go off my zoloft completely immediately and I felt like I really messed up! I thought 1st trimester was ok and then need to be off by third. So I was just putting along slowly tapering off. I'm so fed up with all these doctors and trying to coordinate all their input and do things right. Just the other day my therapist told me to slowly taper and it's safe throughout pregnancy so I should even consider staying on. Anyway, I m just saying screw it and going off completely starting tomorrow. I'd rather be tired and dizzy and cranky (already am from preg) than stressed I'm affecting early development of baby. Decided I need to call a summit round table of all these doctors and tell them to coordinate themselves! My therapist said it's like planning a wedding and it is! Jeeze!
@hottietoddy take care of yourself! I think it can be dangerous to stop SSRIs cold turkey so make sure you are monitoring your mood and reach out if you are feeling particularly down. I basically have little faith in the western medical community as a whole & am just terrified I won’t find an OB that I trust. My current OB has had zero support for choices I’ve made on my TTC journey in addition to my RE: “he doesn’t do things the way the rest of the RE community does” and after my response that I was happy that was the case since nothing traditional was working she said “well he does get a lot of women PG so maybe we will find out he was ahead of the curve in 20 yrs.” Ya think?

@hottietoddy What @lablover78 said is accurate. The side effects you describe from withdrawal are actually pretty tough on your entire system. I think tapering is the way to go. People are on FAR worse than Zoloft and have perfectly normal babies. I believe your therapist is correct and your OB's office is being dangerously short-sighted and haven't gotten updated recommendations regarding the use of SSRIs during pregnancy. Good luck!
@hottietoddy I don't know a lot about zoloft and similar meds but it sounds dangerous to go off of it so quickly. Please take good care of yourself.
AFM: We braved the snow storm for our first ultrasound this morning. Everything looked great and we could see the heartbeat. I get to ditch all my meds at week 10 which is just over 2 weeks away and I've been given clearance to find an OB.
We are currently debating between two hospitals to choose a doctor. One is a little more convenient and the other is the same system I have been in for years. There is no wrong choice so I just have to make it.

@laurad75 congrats on hearing heartbeat - amazing!
Thank you guys, I will give a shot on going off Zoloft and monitor my mood closely. Thank you for the support because I feel they are short sided as well. I'm not taking it today and going to see how I feel. Will take some tomorrow if needed. I am feeling in better spirits today and going to therapist also to discuss. I am probably being impatient also and just wanting to be off. It is frustrating to me that takes so long to get off a med. Good news is work is slow right now so also going to rest and try and relax rather than stress myself out. Thank you again.
Hey everyone. I'm curious: How many beta tests did you have done total, on what DPT or DPO, and did you always double, sometimes less, sometimes more?
Editing to include mine:
20 dpo - 1005 22 dpo - 2994 27 dpo - 16760 - according to the online calculator, between the second and third I averaged a 48 hour doubling. Still pretty shocked about this as I anticipated it to be around 12000!
I just wanted to clarify that at 7+3 it was too early to hear a heartbeat but we could see the flicker. Still super exciting and of course, so reassuring.
@sarcasticowl I had three betas: 10dp5dt 337 13dp5dt 1106 19dp5dt 10,719 (this one scared me - thankfully today we only saw one)

@bpietronicco glad you saw a better increase!! Your u/s is so close!!
@hottietoddy that is so frustrating getting conflicting information from different doctors!! Just be smart about monitoring yourself- going cold turkey sounds scary. I hope you feel ok going off it!
Hi everyone! Finally making my way over here. Hope it’s ok if I sit with you guys.
1. How far along are you? 11+3 What is your EDD? 7/23/18
2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Random aches and pain, fatigue, so much bloating and upset stomach.
3. When is your next appointment? Hopefully next week with the MFM specialist if I’m ever able to get a hold of someone to schedule it.
4. Anything else you'd like to share? Just a question - Has anyone noticed a low cervix? I thought it was supposed to be high in pregnancy? Yesterday mine was so low I literally felt like there was something sitting there. I thought maybe it was more leftover progesterone but nope, just my cervix.
QOTW: Have you purchased anything for baby yet? I have the onesie I bought ages ago to give to DH and that’s it. I think DH and I are still afraid of jinxing it. There is a Super Target close to me that is closing down this month so I was thinking of seeing if they have any good deals.
@sarcasticowl I had 3 also. For some reason my doctor does every 4 days instead of every 2 days. 10dp5dt - 251 14dp5dt - 1575 18dp5dt - 6820

@hottietoddy. As a previous SSRI user and medical person, to taper easily, cut your pills in quarters if you can and then 3/4 for a week or so, then do half, then a 1/4. Cold turkey is not the answer!! Never stop taking them unless you are on very low amounts towards the end of the taper. The side effects do suck but it gets better I promise!
@Hopeful_mom yes I’m hoping to join you in second tri soon although you’ll be moving to third tri soon after that!
@BusinessWife you shouldn’t have to. I’m high risk for 2 reasons - I just turned 35 so I’m AMA now plus I have a chronic condition (sickle cell anemia) so apparently I will need close monitoring. Will your third beta be the same day as your first ultrasound?
Thank you so much @amorey236 and everyone for listening and your opinions. They are greatly appreciated. Welcome @safire3 and congrats on being here! @bpietronicco hang in there they are rising so that is good!
Just to clarify, I have been tapering off the initial 100 mg zoloft now for about 2 months. I'm at about a third of a pill, so going off completely isn't that far of a jump. I'm just jumping from 33% to 0 instead of waiting another week at 25%. And tbh most of the pills I've been taking are prob closer to 25% because it's pretty hard to cut off less than a quarter. Yes, I agree, I would never just stop.
After going therapy session yesterday we came to conclusion I'm really needing to chill out. I feel ok I'm just so nervous about this not working out again I'm freaking out at every little thing. So they taught me some breathing excersizes with an app and it works wonders. The app is called Breathetorelax and recommended by the american diabetes assoc. I am supposed to stop and relax for 30 mins when stressed. I need to take it very seriously because they think stress and lack of sleep made my glucose fasting number go up yesterday. I spoke with my DH also and he is supposed to help me stay chill. I also had camomile tea yesterday after my workout before bed and felt much better and slept well. I also slept with less clothes on because I've been freezing then burning up off and on and making it hard to sleep.
@safire3. Yes! I will have betas 1/9, 1/19, and 1/29 when fx I graduate!!! I will also be turning 35 in February... womp. So I am wondering if that alone will do it. :/
AFM today I went for another u/s at 9w2d and everything is looking good! It was such a fun appointment because it’s really starting to look like a baby! I could see its little feet and arms, and saw it moving! I’m so excited now after this. Can’t wait till next week. I could just watch that screen all day.
Also they gave me the okay to stop taking estrogen and my last pio and suppository will be next Weds so yay! Can’t believe I’m going to be off hormones- it’s been forever. Graduating from the RE next week too so that’ll be strange. Lots of exciting stuff!
@mac627 yay for a great appointment! It’s always so magical to see a little person moving around in there. Also I was so nervous to stop my meds but it has been so amazing finally being off of them!
@BusinessWife yep as far as I know you will be referred as long as you will be >/= 35 when baby is born. My RE’s office let the regular OB refer me once I graduated to them.
Hi all, I’m new here and it feels like such an accomplishment to be in this group!
1. How far along are you? 9 weeks 1 day What is your EDD? 8/10/18
2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? I’ve been lucky thus far with the “morning sickness”. Only one bout of major nausea so far. I do feel like I ate something my stomach didn’t agree with most of the day (worst in the afternoon/evening), but it’s not enough to be too disruptive. My boobs have exploded and been killing me since week 4 (up almost 2 cup sizes already) and I have low back aches. I think the worst part has been insomnia... most nights I’m getting 3-5 hours of sleep . I have insomnia regularly and usually have a trusted herbal blend I take, but that’s a no go right now! (But I’ll take it!)
3. When is your next appointment? Next ultrasound with my RE is next Friday. Since the heartbeat was strong my previous appt my RE said we can move my weekly scan to 2-week intervals. This has been a major source of anxiety since it was nice only having to wait a week for the next assurance that everything is going ok! But after the years of disappointment I’m training myself to be optimistic!
4. Anything else you'd like to share? This is my first pregnancy after 4 years of TTC. After two surgeries and 4 failed IUIs between DH and I, it was the best surprise to get the BFP after the first round of IVF! My est. due date is on the anniversary of the passing of one of my best childhood friends, so I take that as a good sign
QOTW: Have you purchased anything for baby yet? Nope... scared to jinx anything!
Has anyone gotten a home Doppler or planning on it? I have to admit I ordered one (7 wks 2 days)... at the doctors we heard the heartbeat at 6+3 via an abdomen ultrasound but I was HOPING to have some luck at home but none so far! I’m not freaking myself out yet bc I know it’s too early but am curious if anyone else tried it and if so how early?
Hey all, I'm new on here and feeling nervous to post. I know there will be a new check in tomorrow, but was feeling like I needed to find some support.
1. How far along are you? 5w3d I took an HPT on monday and got two strong lines. Tuesday had first beta which was 1700. I was away the rest of the week visiting my parents so second beta isn't until tomorrow. I'm feeling super nervous for that.
2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Some morning sickness. A little shortness of breath. Boobs hurt. Last night I had spotting. Rather than freaking out I'd say I felt numb and like oh, of course, this won't work out for us. However, this morning it was gone, just a little of the brown left over blood (sorry TMI). And I put in a liner last night when it started and only had a few drops on that. I think when you wipe it's hard to tell how much blood is there bc it's getting diluted with pee. I did see one tiny tiny clot. I of course googled like crazy and it does seem like it is quite normal. But of course, it's hard to feel that secure. *TW l lost my last pregnancy at 21.5 weeks and had bled for a lot of weeks before that. So it's pretty hard to just say, oh this totally normal, even though I know it is for a lot of people.
3. When is your next appointment? Beta tomorrow morning and then as long as all is okay, Ultra sound Friday morning.
4. Anything else you'd like to share? I think I put most of it in question 2. Been TTC since June 2014 so it's been a long road. Did get my BFP on new years day and somehow felt like, okay, maybe this year our luck will change. This was our second FET with our last viable embryo that's not a female BRCA+ so pretty much the plan was this and then if it didn't work out, move on to adoption. Right now, I'm just trying hard to take it one day at a time, but that's so hard. I had the nerve to start looking at sewing patterns that could work for maternity and non-maternity last night before I started spotting, so now that feels crazy. Started knitting a sweater today that is distinctly not maternity bc I feel like no tempting fate! Anyway, just tried to lay low today and am hoping for good news tomorrow.
QOTW: Have you purchased anything for baby yet? Oh god no. Not this time. *TW However, I do have a few things that I bought last time and I literally lost the baby two days after I bought a bunch of maternity clothes, so those are sitting there in a bag in our house. I hope it won't feel like jinxy to wear them. I don't really believe in that kind of stuff, but on the other hand...
Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far. Nice to you @BusinessWife from our summer board. And we're on pretty much the exact same timeline so I'm so so hopeful we both get to the finish line together.
