@sarcasticowl that's good news, congrats! I can't wait for sono. @bpietronicco positive hopes your way for Thurs! @BusinessWife congrats on the Beta!!

Thank you @mac627 and @laurad75 you are right I should try and enjoy! I got super down mid day today right before this post, so didn't help my positivity. After I got beta results my RE told me to call my OB and tell them I'm pregnant.  OB told me to go off my zoloft completely immediately and I felt like I really messed up!  I thought 1st trimester was ok and then need to be off by third. So I was just putting along slowly tapering off. I'm so fed up with all these doctors and trying to coordinate all their input and do things right. Just the other day my therapist told me to slowly taper and it's safe throughout pregnancy so I should even consider staying on.  Anyway, I m just saying screw it and going off completely starting tomorrow. I'd rather be tired and dizzy and cranky (already am from preg) than stressed I'm affecting early development of baby. Decided I need to call a summit round table of all these doctors and tell them to coordinate themselves! My therapist said it's like planning a wedding and it is!  Jeeze!
  • @hottietoddy take care of yourself! I think it can be dangerous to stop SSRIs cold turkey so make sure you are monitoring your mood and reach out if you are feeling particularly down. I basically have little faith in the western medical community as a whole & am just terrified I won’t find an OB that I trust. My current OB has had zero support for choices I’ve made on my TTC journey in addition to my RE: “he doesn’t do things the way the rest of the RE community does” and after my response that I was happy that was the case since nothing traditional was working she said “well he does get a lot of women PG so maybe we will find out he was ahead of the curve in 20 yrs.” Ya think?

  • @hottietoddy What @lablover78 said is accurate. The side effects you describe from withdrawal are actually pretty tough on your entire system. I think tapering is the way to go. People are on FAR worse than Zoloft and have perfectly normal babies. I believe your therapist is correct and your OB's office is being dangerously short-sighted and haven't gotten updated recommendations regarding the use of SSRIs during pregnancy. Good luck!
  • @laurad75. Hoooray!!!!!  Congratulations on hearing the hb!!!!  ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
  • @laurad75 congrats on hearing heartbeat - amazing!

Thank you guys, I will give a shot on going off Zoloft and monitor my mood closely. Thank you for the support because I feel they are short sided as well. I'm not taking it today and going to see how I feel. Will take some tomorrow if needed.  I am feeling in better spirits today and going to therapist also to discuss. I am probably being impatient also and just wanting to be off. It is frustrating to me that takes so long to get off a med.  Good news is work is slow right now so also going to rest and try and relax rather than stress myself out.  Thank you again.

Hey everyone. I'm curious: How many beta tests did you have done total, on what DPT or DPO, and did you always double, sometimes less, sometimes more?

    Editing to include mine:

    20 dpo - 1005
    22 dpo - 2994
27 dpo - 16760 - according to the online calculator, between the second and third I averaged a 48 hour doubling. Still pretty shocked about this as I anticipated it to be around 12000!
  • I just wanted to clarify that at 7+3 it was too early to hear a heartbeat but we could see the flicker.  Still super exciting and of course, so reassuring.

    @sarcasticowl I had three betas:
    10dp5dt 337
    13dp5dt 1106
19dp5dt 10,719 (this one scared me - thankfully today we only saw one)

History and blog link in spoiler
2016 - dx with super low ovarian reserve; failed cycle with clomid, failed IUI,
    2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos
moved to donor egg in summer 2017; 35 eggs retrieved; 19 fertilized; 9 total embryos
Fresh transfer Dec 2017= BFP!  baby boy born 8/22/18

May 2019 - surprise natural pregnancy ended in MC
Nov 2019 FET; MC at 9 weeks
    May 2020 FET; BFN
July 2020 FET; CP treated with methotrexate
    Oct 2020 BFP!

  • @sarcasticowl great news! I had three betas starting at 9dp5dt - they were 189, 598, and 1297.

@bpietronicco glad you saw a better increase!! Your u/s is so close!!

@hottietoddy that is so frustrating getting conflicting information from different doctors!! Just be smart about monitoring yourself- going cold turkey sounds scary. I hope you feel ok going off it!

@laurad75 congrats on seeing the heartbeat!!

  • 14dp5d - 3193
    17dp5d - 8769
19dp5d - over 10,000 (RE site doesn't show the exact number)
  • @sarcasticowl
    My betas were/will be:
    9dp5dt - 245
    11dp5dt - 733
    18dp5dt - ???

My first doubling was every 30 hours.  Looking forward to seeing what the next one is!

@safire3. Heeeey!!!  Question - any particular reason you need to see the mfm?  I'm wondering if I will have to see one too...  :#
  • @hottietoddy.  As a previous SSRI user and medical person, to taper easily, cut your pills in quarters if you can and then 3/4 for a week or so, then do half, then a 1/4. Cold turkey is not the answer!! Never stop taking them unless you are on very low amounts towards the end of the taper. The side effects do suck but it gets better I promise!
  • @Hopeful_mom yes I’m hoping to join you in second tri soon although you’ll be moving to third tri soon after that!

@BusinessWife you shouldn’t have to. I’m high risk for 2 reasons - I just turned 35 so I’m AMA now plus I have a chronic condition (sickle cell anemia) so apparently I will need close monitoring. Will your third beta be the same day as your first ultrasound?
  • Thank you so much @amorey236 and everyone for listening and your opinions.  They are greatly appreciated. Welcome @safire3 and congrats on being here!  @bpietronicco hang in there they are rising so that is good!

Just to clarify, I have been tapering off the initial 100 mg zoloft now for about 2 months. I'm at about a third of a pill, so going off completely isn't that far of a jump.  I'm just jumping from 33% to 0 instead of waiting another week at 25%.  And tbh most of the pills I've been taking are prob closer to 25% because it's pretty hard to cut off less than a quarter.  Yes, I  agree, I would never just stop.

After going therapy session yesterday we came to conclusion I'm really needing to chill out. I feel ok I'm just so nervous about this not working out again I'm freaking out at every little thing. So they taught me some breathing excersizes with an app and it works wonders.  The app is called Breathetorelax and recommended by the american diabetes assoc. I am supposed to stop and relax for 30 mins when stressed. I need to take it very seriously because they think stress and lack of sleep made my glucose fasting number go up yesterday.  I spoke with my DH also and he is supposed to help me stay chill.  I also had camomile tea yesterday after my workout before bed and felt much better and slept well. I also slept with less clothes on because I've been freezing then burning up off and on and making it hard to sleep.
  • @safire3. Yes!  I will have betas 1/9, 1/19, and 1/29 when fx I graduate!!!  I will also be turning 35 in February... womp.  So I am wondering if that alone will do it. :/
  • @mac627 so great!  Love hearing the success you are having!  Congrats on the great Appointment!
  • @mac627 yay for a great appointment! It’s always so magical to see a little person moving around in there. Also I was so nervous to stop my meds but it has been so amazing finally being off of them!

@BusinessWife yep as far as I know you will be referred as long as you will be >/= 35 when baby is born. My RE’s office let the regular OB refer me once I graduated to them.

Has anyone gotten a home Doppler or planning on it?  I have to admit I ordered one (7 wks 2 days)... at the doctors we heard the heartbeat at 6+3 via an abdomen ultrasound but I was HOPING to have some luck at home but none so far!  I’m not freaking myself out yet bc I know it’s too early but am curious if anyone else tried it and if so how early?
  • Welcome @gfgrump I think many of us are feeling exactly the same way... ❤️ I’m sorry for your loss and hope this is your rainbow

  • @meredithj123 thanks! Trying to remain hopeful!
  • @gfgrump Welcome and congratulations.  Good luck with your beta today!  I have been getting that gross brown discharge on and off.  My nurses have assured me its totally normal but it still makes me so nervous.
