  • I’m really good. I keep being like, “I feel good today, hope everything’s okay.” I remember my OB telling me last time, “don’t worry you’ll be miserable again soon.”

  • I'm still having nausea at 13 1/2 weeks...and have started itching. Welcome to the 2nd trimester indeed.
  • Still tired and that metallic taste is still around but other than that starting to feel better. By the looks of things so is everyone else lol.
  • The itching! It doesnt help that the air is sooo dry now that the cold has set in. RLP for me this week. It was really bad for about 5 days and just yesterday let up... as I had a really bad headache. Ugh. Hoping this week is less of all of that.
  • Every morning DH asks how I am feeling.  Every morning I give him a snarky answer.  This morning after my snarky response he said, "I should probably stop asking you that, shouldn't I?"  Why yes.  Yes you should.

  • @megara5 @ramblebee The biggest thing that has  helped my dry skin issue is cutting back on long hot showers. (Showering every other day or doing quick washes without standing under the hot water.) I've noticed a big difference and I swear I'm not stinky...
  • Still gagging over here at 14w5d. Mostly on an empty stomach or when I didn't eat enough protein. Food aversions mostly gone, again if I don't let my stomach get too empty.

Energy is not great BUT greatly improved. Still need 8+ hours of sleep. Found out this weekend I don't function on 6 hours so easily like I could before.

Pimples still here. Maybe slightly better, but still rocking teenager vibes on my face. Oh and the internal vaginal pain also still present.

@sunshineandwhiskey noticed my BF has stopped asking how I'm feeling for the most part. He used to ask multiple times daily. Probably got tired of the same answers. Haha "I gag, I'm tired and my vagina hurts"
  • @amys614 you should use this time to get as much sleep as possible. Two Saturdays ago I took 2 naps and slept 8 hours that night, I have no regrets. It's also encouraging DH to do more around the house too bc he sees I'm tired.

  • I have been feeling pretty good the last couple weeks (still fatigued but nothing unmanageable). I did have a weird experience this morning. I was standing in the kitchen and I suddenly felt really weird. I had a shortness of breath, heart beating really fast and what I assume was a hot flash (this sudden rising heat feeling). I laid down, had some water and started to feel better. Now I just feel a little off (and freaked out). I have a call in to my OB's medical assistant and am waiting to hear back, but curious if anyone has experienced anything like this?
  • @katelynrae86 that happens to me if I stand in one place for too long, it's just sort of a fainting spell. It's pretty common in pregnant women.

@ramblebee I second RLP, or as a FTM what I suspect it is. Just an achy, crampy full feeling in Ute.
  • @katelynrae86 I have a similar issue. I get palpitations, elevated heart rate, and shortness of breath just randomly, even when sitting around. I did a lot of testing with the cardiologist when it started with my last pregnancy, and they said it was not harmful to me or the baby and was just a side effect of the extra blood volume that comes with pregnancy. I hope yours is just as harmless.
  • The headaches! Just will not stop this week! I’m actually glad I have an appointment tomorrow so they can check my blood pressure just in case.

  • @llamamama14 I think I'm going to have to get serious about moisturizing routine. Our water is very hard here. I love traveling pretty much anywhere else because the water is so nice!

@katelynrae86 Yes I had it today while out shopping and I had it in 1st tri too. I usually recover after a few minutes of a nice sit down and water.
  • Was able to not throw up since last Monday but just now puked....boo. I'm 14w4d. Other than that, I just have occasional headaches and dizziness- mostly if I am up on my feet or not moving for awhile. Mostly before noon, too. My BP has been pretty low, usually about 90/50. Hoping to get a refill of diclegis before the end of the year when my deductible resets. Hopefully we all feel really good soon!!
  • Anyone else feel like the baby is already taking over their stomach? I will be starving and then when I eat I get full really quickly and like uncomfortably full. I don’t think it is actually just the baby because I’m only 14+2 but maybe combination of the baby and ute?

  • @ffw0617 definitely!  No regrets on the naps.

@katelynrae86 I had it really bad my first trimester. I couldn't grocery shop or do anything.  My blood pressure laying down was 80/50. My pulse would randomly shoot up, get nauseous, sweaty and faint feeling. It happened often. I saw my cardiologist that I see anyways and he said it's just normal response to the dilation in the vessels bc of the extra blood volume. I asked what number I should be concerned about and he said none as long as you aren't actually fainting.
  • @megara5 Glad to read this. I feel like I have been experiencing something similar. Even now, I'm feeling super tired but kind of lightheaded and spaced out. Also been getting random episodes of my heart beating faster, even when I'm just sitting at the computer. Also had a couple of days when I woke up with what felt like a racing heart. I also got checked out a couple of years ago when I had a bout of palpitations that freaked me out, and my ticker checked out perfectly, so I'm just chalking it up to pregnancy - although I'll double-check at my OB/GYN appointment tomorrow. But seriously...no me gusta. :|

  • @karaoke I was just complaining to MH about this exact thing! I ate a little bit at dinner, then legit thought I was going to vom.

  • @doxiemoxie212 @megara5 @ ramblebee @amys614 Thanks for the responses! Dr said not to be concerned either. I was just caught so off guard, I never experienced anything like this with my first. I was seriously thinking, "what does a heart attack feel like?" dramatic much?  :D
  • @krashke oh, definitely. I have to eat small meals for this exact reason. I take a few bites and suddenly feel very full.

16+4 and the heartburn is getting real. Gets so bad that my ears hurt because of it. Also middle of the night puking has become normal.. and it’s like, I have to RUN to the toilet otherwise I’ll have an unfortunate mess to clean up  :s

belly is also here to stay and no longer shrinks over night. I find myself constantly rubbing it :) I love it so much!
  • Anyone else been have trouble with the prenatal vitamins? I’ve been throwing them up. I have been told the gummies are better and to try taking them at night so I’ll try that tomorrow.
  • @katek819 I have to take my vitamins pretty immediately after eating or I'll feel sick, but otherwise I'm good. I do take them at night, though.
  • The vitamins were making me sick when I took them in the morning too.  I switched to night time and it’s working out better.

Anyone experiencing back pain?  Mine has been on and off pretty much the entire pregnancy.  I’m worried this is not going to get any better!  It seems if I walk, stand, or sit for more than an hour it acts up.  Seems I can’t win.
  • @krismhl try ice/heat when you can. Particularly if it feels like inflammation, ice. If it feels like muscles, heat.

  • Also (not sure if the link will work) this belt was reccomended to me by my physical therapist. I wore something similar when I had a back injury and more than anything they help remind you of how not to move (twisting and stooping are limited with it on) and maintain better posture both sitting and standing.

  • Thank you @lisa2589!  I’ll definitely check this out.  Yes in the meantime I’m trying to ice and heat.  I guess it’s not helping anything with my constant bending and picking up our 2 little girls 2 and 4.  I keep trying to get hubby to do all the picking up but they fight over taking turns with me holding them!  I have to tell them no more often
  • @krismhl omg yes girl! My DD is 2.5 and I swear sometimes when I suggest Daddy picks her up she wants me instead just because I suggested it  :D

@megara5 and @ramblebee Your itching is probably just dry skin, so definitely try adding coconut oil and a heavier moisturizer to your routine, especially while it’s cold outside. If the itching persists, flag for your provider.  I have a co worker who was super itchy in 3rd trimester and ended up with something called cholestasis where her liver isn’t breaking down toxins. She only gets it during pregnancy and just has to be monitored regularly. Again, you likely need to revamp your moisture game, but flag for your doctor if it doesn’t go away.

  • Regarding moisturizers: I asked the US tech who was performing my NT scan who happened to be 4 weeks ahead of me, and she said she uses Aveeno. She said there was one case where her patient had been using cocoa butter and it was giving her baby a heart arrhythmia. It took 6 weeks after stopping the cocoa butter for her baby's heart to return to a normal pattern. I did a quick Google, and sure enough the first link that popped up was American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology An association between fetal arrhythmias and maternal use of cocoa butter!

@silvergreen wow, that's wild! And scary! I use coconut oil daily (doubles to stop bruising from my lovenox injections in my tummy). It seems to keep me from being too itchy.  Except my nips, those things remain itchy....I just hope theirs no side effects like the one above to my LO from coconut oil!
  • @stephcat421 Crazy, right?! I'm pretty sure my OB/GYN nurse had mentioned coconut oil as an option. I'm going for my monthly check up today and I'll ask my doc!

  • FYI cocoa is chocolate (so cocoa butter is chocolate butter), coconut oil is entirely different
  • I didn’t realize that being itchy was so common! I’ve been itchy too, but it’s also winter in the interior of Alaska...everyone is itchy! Makes a lot more sense now!

@ramblebee, dry cold air, super hard water...are you in Interior Alaska too?? Lol.

Best advice from up here for the itch is to stay very very hydrated. Lotion only goes so far. I found Palmers cocoa butter helps but it does have a distinctive smell that may bother some people.
  • @doxiemoxie212 yeah I just meant in terms of something you think would be natural and healthy, cocoa butter can cause problems I hope something equally as natural and healthy coconut oil would be okay. I just think the world of coconut oil (think windex from My Big Fat Greek Wedding  :D) so I'd be devastated to find out if it had any scary side effects as cocoa butter.
  • Anyone else having eczema and/or asthma flares during pregnancy? I can't seem to get it all under control.

Also, any STM+ moms having bad PGP already? I asked my doctor about it and she said some people get all that much earlier in subsequent pregnancies so it was normal. It still seems a little odd that last time it started at like 32 weeks and now I'm already having it at 15 weeks.

  • Y’all. So now that I’m right on the edge of second trimester I thought I would try to reintroduce Taco Bell. Yikes. I don’t think I have vomited so violently this entire pregnancy as I did tonight. Blech. I may never eat TB again. Nope nope nope.

I hadnt been sick in over a week either. Boo.

  • @NamelessAria I haven’t experienced PGP myself but the 2 people I know that had it, definitely said it got worse with each pregnancy... sorry to be the bearer of that bad news lady  :(
I think the maternity belt I recommended earlier for back pain is supposed to help with that also. Let me know if you want me to find the link for it again!

  • @krashke I am definitely already experiencing the smaller stomach.

@Katek819 I take the gummies bc they have no iron in them and iron always makes me throw up.  I also always have stellar iron numbers, so I am okay skipping iron.
