Re: Symptoms Week of 12/18

  • @christycalifornia I am sorry you are feeling so sick!

This pregnancy for me seems to be the same.  I feel good for a few days and then boom, awful. Today is a very bad day, but yesterday was the best day I’ve had in a long time. It’s like a constant roller coaster. I never know what to expect!

@amylu914 I had the same horrible taste in my mouth with my first.  I brushed my teeth and used mouthwash obsessively and nothing helped.  I later got really bad continuous heartburn and started taking Pepcid to combat that, and I think it also helped with the bad taste.  It may have been a coincidence that the taste went away because I was a little further along, but I'm not sold on that.  It might be worth a shot to take some Pepcid for a couple days and see if it helps you.
  • DynamiteTrujillo I would assume it is heartburn ive never had it prior to being pregnant. I did have banana peppers on a sandwhich at lunch so im sure that didnt help lol. I AM trying what you recommended tonight! Thank you!
Hope your pregnancy is going well
  • @SmashJam find any relief for the headaches? im going on 24 hours and nothing has helped but it is starting to finally ease but not go away

@lindsayleigh1989 for me it is often caffeine, but other than that no magic. I find it happens after I eat a lot, so I'm not sure what the deal is! Yesterday I napped all of nap time and woke up without one so maybe its when I push myself too hard? Who knows. Sorry I can't help, and hope yours get better!
  • I'm with you @christycalifornia...I have had THE worse morning sickness at night that started Saturday and has not left. Can't keep anything down. Can't sleep. Seabands don't do diddly squat, ginger ale is too sweet, saltines do not taste good coming back up. Plus, I've been working all weekend (yay overtime!). I'm exhausted and look hung over. Does the whole B6 and Unisom work? I've put an email out to my ob for help.
I hope you feel better @christycalifornia and everyone else plagued with the yuckies!

  • @zombiehoohaa I don't remember it working when I took it the morning of, but this morning I woke up feeling MUCH better and I took Unisom last night at bedtime.
  • After seemingly having no symptoms last week besides sore boobs, the nausea and cramping has returned here and there. Im not complaining and taking it as a good thing since we have uncertainty right now. Fingers crossed everything is good after todays appt.

  • @zombiehoohaa yes!! it is the only thing that eases my nausea, but I have found I need to take both for it to be effective. unisom does make me sleepy but I know others are not as effected

  • @SmashJam & @lindsayleigh1989 Thank you! I will head to Target to grab these. Hopefully, they help...I would LOVE some uninterrupted sleep...ha...peeing doesn't allow this.

  • @zombiehoohaa awesome! I also reccomend the tablet vs the gel cap version of unisom. the gel caps did not help as much for whatever reason

  • @zombiehoohaa I also second the melty unisoms...its probably psychosomatic (sp?) but the tablets don't work as well for me either!
  • Constipation....Ugh! The worst ever! I've tried all of the pregnancy safe options and no relief. I had it with DS and I drank one glass of smooth move tea and BAM...costipation left for the rest of that pregnancy. I know the tea is not approved but I've never had a negative reaction to it. So I think I'll give it a go tonight. Wish me luck! Lol!  :)
  • @rizzige03 I'm with you!  Ugh.  I take a stool softener daily- not helping.  I haven't gone since Sunday... this sucks.  I feel disgusting.  I'm not a regular person to begin with, but this is uncomfortable x10.

  • I keep waking up with a horrible headache, almost like hungover. Not sure if its because im not aleeping well since I have evening nausea and wake up in the middle of rhe night with it too or what but it really is bringing me down in the morning.

  • Lightning crotch i was hoping you’d show up later
  • @farmmomwithbaby1 The first time I got heart burn I had no idea what it was and I thought I was dying. LOL. I hope it helped!
  • SmashJam & @lindsayleigh1989 Just wanted to say thanks again for the reassurance on the b6 and unisom. I took them last night and boy do I feel better! They didn't have the melty versions, however i did get the tablets. So very thankful for not having to have relations with the toilet gods. Will be taking them again tonight.

  • Bad tastes are totally a thing. My mouth often tastes like pennies.

I'm so hungry but can only eat a little. :( And just typing that I want Tikka Masala, but no one here makes it well and I'm too tired to make it myself. :( I miss California and it's easily accessable ethnically diverse food.
  • @christycalifornia tikka masala has been a craving during both of my pregnancies. I normally love it but it's a whole newlevel when I''m KU. We have lots of local restaurants that offer ot but I also make it at home, it's sooo good.

Stuffing my face aside, I'm still at hardly any symptoms. Maybe I'm a little more emotional. I did some volunteer work at a crisis nursery earlier this week and got so choked up thinking about all these kids who don't have a safe home and family life and how unfair life could be for some kiddos  :'(

  • Hello... it's 2:55 am now, so, insomnia.   :(  i think I'm nauseous but not even sure if that's what I'd call it. Every night, I'm suddenly wide awake but tired and my stomach feels weird and I can't get comfortable. I have to be at work in 4 hours, I hope I can get back to sleep! Annoying,  though I do feel reassured to have symptoms.
  • @christycalifornia Oh my gosh. I hear you. Growing up in California you get so used to having the yummiest, freshest, most diverse foods. Leaving that is such pure heart break... especially when it comes to pregnancy cravings!

  • @SmashJam cool to hear you are back to coffee. I have had an aversion to it but I miss it...
  • Ugh! I flipping have oral thrush - second time in my adult life and it’s sucks!!!! Not sure why though. I ended antibiotics a week ago so that doesn’t explain it.
  • Feeling pretty nervous to go off my progesterone in a few days. Dr said to finish what I have which is 4 days, but I'm so nervous to trust my body will produce properly. Thankfully my Dr is giving an ultrasound in 2 weeks to check and make sure things are progressing normally which will give peace of mind.
  • I've been so so cold the past couple weeks. I didn't think much of it till while my parents were staying here my mom, who is always freezing was like omg you're keeping the house so hot. So for shits and giggles I googled "always cold during pregnancy" not expecting much of anything. The results were all about hypothyroidism and how it can lead to MC and pregnancy complications so of course I'm freaking out :'(
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @runsomewhere I think it’s standard (or at least having no complaints/risk factors for me) to check TSH levels in the blood panels they run as part of the OB visits. Likely you would know if you had hypothyroidism! If they haven’t already checked I’m sure they can add it on next time they do a blood draw. I’m someone who is always cold as well-think that is just how some people run! Don’t worry about it :)
  • @runsomewhere I’ve been hypothyroid since DS. I was hyper before him. I didn’t find out till 12 wks with DS and doc wasn’t concerned since i wasn’t way off. Before we conceived i was stable on meds but just got tested and meds had to be increased. I’m not too worried this time around but I’m always cold cause it’s winter and snowing. Talk to your doc if your concerned or if you have a history of thyroid issues (my entire family does).

I have been confined to my bed ALL day. I woke up to really painful cramp like pains in my lower stomach this morning. I'm 12wks and know cramping is normal during this time but all of the cramping I've read about is "sudden" and "doesn't last long" whereas mine has been all day.I took Tylenol and woke up feeling better for a little  but now I'm back to not being able to move without pain. No spotting, its painful to the touch, and  feels tight.
  • @devilcat139 thanks, that's a good point. I did the first trimester blood work a few weeks ago but didn't really bother looking in to what was tested. I wouldn't be surprised if thyroid levels were part of that since they did take 5-6 vials of blood! Hopefully I'm just irrationally cold.

@wildtot thank you so much for sharing your experience that makes me feel better. Google made it sound like if there is a thyroid issue you WILL MC or have complications. I do not have a history of any thyroid issues.

@craddockwifey313 I had horrible pain and cramping, similar to what you're describing in my last pregnancy. At times it was so bad it was hard to stand up straight. It started at 20 something weeks and it was so bad I thought something had to be wrong. My doctor was convinced it was RLP and that because I was toned I was getting it back. Looks like he was right as I had no complications.

Sorry for posting here, I saw the new weekly thread was posted, just following up from earlier.

  • @runsomewhere np! I was super scared of development issues with DS since I didn't think about checking them until later in first tri, but he turned out just fine. I am pretty sure that my complications with DS or my MC prior to him were not thyroid related. That was more cervix and progesterone related.

  • @runsomewhere At my first OB appointment I asked my Dr, what recommendations do you have for me? His answer, "Stay off the internet!!" I personally don't take his advice but I wish I could. Google is great for creating unnecessary worry! Before pregnancy, I remember  almost any symptom search I did, brought back results that made it sound like I was dying!
  • @craddockwifey313 when I got cramping I drink tons of water and that usually helps me! With DS I had Braxton Hicks and preterm labor (later in pregnancy) and I had to drink so much water, that now when I feel funny or off I just drink water to help it.
