@junabugtunabug I used to love the name Oliver, but last year I had an Oliver in my class who was actually the worst person I had ever met in my life at five years old. Teaching helps narrow things down so easily.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
@junabugtunabug I love Oliver but DH is so against it! We have a Finn. I feel like this time around I’m having a harder time finding names that I like.
Despite my husband and I having the same initials, we've opted not to be cliché and continue with that. Lol
If it's a girl, Rhiannon Marie. Marie for my paternal grandmother, and I adore old school names.
I also like Ava, Olivia, Aoife.
Boy names are harder, I think. You want them to roll off the tongue well, but still sound masculine. I'd like to incorporate my father's name, Thomas, as he passed away last year. So far Ethan Thomas is the leading name we've both agreed on. Or I'm wondering if I should incorporate my maiden name as a middle name, as I'm an only child and the name ended with me.
@kindbytealikat - we downloaded the app to swipe left / right last night and it's so much fun! We matched on a few so it's awesome to have a good starting point this time around. We both like Carson for a boy and Annabelle for a girl.
DH and I cannot get on the same page with names. For a boy, he is dead set on Lars Ragnar, like dead set doesn’t even want to hear other names. He is Scandinavian by heritage and his great grandfathers name was Lars, but he only likes it because of the show Vikings! I feel like that’s a lot of name for a kid, and don’t want him to get teased. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. I love the name James George, calling him Jace. DH’s middle name is James and both of our dad’s names are George, so very family oriented. For a girl, we’ve talked about Sydney Gail. We met because of a trip to Australia and Gail was his mother’s name (she passed 8 years ago). I now really want to try the tinder name game app! We also met on tinder, so should be fun!
@kc0711 - I feel your pain with DH being set on a name you're not happy with. Mine wants Dominic Adonis and won't hear a word against it. I don't mind Dominic (it's actually growing on me!) but Adonis? I can't.
The tinder app is perfect because there's no room to make a case for a name you like or hate! It's binary - yes / no. And then when you both find one you like, bingo!
If we end up with a girl her name will be Luxely (will figure out the best way to spell) nick name will be Lux, I was obsessed with the book the virgin suicides in high school and always wanted a girl named Lux.
If we end up with a 3rd boy, which I feel like we will, we have no idea. Our fist is Clayton which is my husbands middle name and our second is Westley, named after princess bride lol. Boy names are hard! And all our family names are names I don’t really care for.
I have a Leo Robert and an Ethan Daniel with my ex husband and have absolutely zero ideas for this baby. I really love the name Eleanor for a girl so I'm hoping BF will be on board with that but I highly doubt I'll have a girl as I seem to only make boys so I need to start thinking on boy names. Eli was a top contender when Ethan was born so that's a possibility I think. I also really like Luke.
We're considering the name Vivienne (apparently -an is the boy version??? I never knew this until today) after my late aunt, who spelled her name Vivian. I don't really have many other ideas. Names are hard! We picked my son's name on a road trip after our first ultrasound and really liked the name Emma back then, but I don't love it anymore.
All three of our kiddos have strong family names-Karl, Margaret (Maggie) and Maeve. (Well, Maeve is a play on Mae.) We will probably go with Marion/Marian for a girl (another family name) and since we are living in the Czech Republic it would be fun to do a Czech middle name-I really like the name Kateřina which is common here. For boys no idea. I have some good ideas from some of y'all now though.
@mrsbubbles-2 DH has also been insistent on Dominic for the last few years, but I don't love it. We were playing the game Life a few years ago and he named his first "kid" Dominic and I named my first one Cornelius as a joke. Ever since then he's trying to convince me that's the name. We haven't really discussed any names in a for real sense, but we are currently referring to the baby as little DC, so I think we might be stuck with those initials.
@kc0711 I don't think Lars is too much name for a little boy at all. I had a couple of Lars' that I went to school with, and quite like the name. It's true that it is a lot with Ragnar added to it, but no one (that I've known, at least) uses first-middle combo in school.

@kc0711 Both of my brothers and I have Scandinavian names. I love the name Lars! Could you compromise with Lars George? Ragnar is a very strong name. My older brother was almost named Thor, and my parents have always said they are very glad they walked it back a bit to Torin.

@juliebird6 It's an Irish Gaelic name, pronounced as ee+fa, it's analogous to Eva/Ava. I've loved the uniqueness of the spelling and pronunciation for years.
DH and I agreed last night. Elliott Foster if it’s a boy. Foster was his great-grandmother’s maiden name. Clara Suzanne if it’s a girl. My BFF is named Suzanne. We had the names picked out for awhile, but he told me last week he felt like it was “too easy”. So we talked about names for an hour or so and he said “nevermind. I don’t like any of these names as much as the ones we already picked.”
@lakesideknitter we might be able to compromise, he’s just very set. I’m Italian by heritage and southern by birth, so I’m just not used to hearing Scandinavian names! But that is a good point to be able to say about the middle name that it might be a bit much. @ashleyandjody our last name ends with son, so it kind of knocks out any first names that end in son (mason, Madison, etc)! I really like the name Larson, but it just doesn’t go well with our last name. @derbysquirrel you make a good point, not many people will call him by his first and middle name. Born and raised in the south, I use first and middle name a lot, but I know that is not how most people will be. Lars is growing on me some, I just don’t know if it has grown on me enough to name a baby that permanently! @mrsbubbles-2 we are in the same boat! I really like Dominic, but it is a lot of name with Adonis as a middle name. Darn those middle names!
@kc0711 My husband is Danish, and I'm Canadian, so we had some compromising to do! We needed something that could be pronounced in English, French, and Danish, and we ended up with Kai He had Thorkill on his list though... I think Lars is much more main stream!
I have no clue. I’m only 5 weeks and not sure if we will try team green (we have 2 girls).
We have ave a Peighton Elizabeth and a Jordan Brooke.
Graham was our boy name last time- I still like it.
Im drawn toward Andie if another girl- H is Andrew and my brother is Andrew. So a nod to them since this will be the last baby. My dad is Joseph, and I coach a girl named Joey, so that has me thinking.
Do you ladies automatically rule out a name if you know someone who named their kid that name? Like, DH went to school with a girl who named her daughter Claire and love that name! By no means is she a good friend of ours, DH barely speaks to her anymore, but I’m like “should I care that this random person I know has a kid with the same name?”

I think if you did that, you'd have a lot less to pick from. If they rarely talk, and don't really see each other, no big deal. Even if they do, no big deal. They aren't part of the family.
My kid will be either William or Mary Jean. I told DH he can pick the middle names, since I've had the first names selected for the past 17 years, but I do retain a veto power. If I were choosing the middle names I would probably go with Henry and Elizabeth, but who knows what he'll come up with?

No way. I only rule out names if I A) hooked up with said name I’ve coached a kid by that name and he/she was a brat and C) DH’s ex gf
@rosettesandstripes Are you talking about BabyName? Thats the one that is like Tinder where you swipe the ones you like, your partner does the same on their phone, and the app shows you your matches.
Does anyone know the name app or website where you can put in a few names you like and it gives complimentary names or names similar? I remember using one back with my first but can’t remember!

We have two girls already, Julia and Claire. With DD2 DH wouldn't consider any names that were in the running for DD1 because he didn't want her to have a "second place" name. So if it's a girl again this time we will have to start all over again. I think I'd like to do Madeleine this time; we had decided we liked it last time but took it off the list because we dislike the NN Maddie. But we could easily just not call her that. MN would be Laura because we haven't used a family name from DH's side yet and that is his grandmother and mother's name. I also like Vivienne but DH dismissed it outright last time so that's probably a no. And I like Louise but it doesn't go great with laura as the middle.
For a boy DH has always wanted to use his MN which is also his dad's MN, Allen. I'd be fine with that using one of my grandfather's names as the middle...Michael or Walter.

@kc0711 What about Larson, and you can always call him Lars for a nickname? I went to school with a Larson, and he wasn't picked on.
We had the names picked out for awhile, but he told me last week he felt like it was “too easy”. So we talked about names for an hour or so and he said “nevermind. I don’t like any of these names as much as the ones we already picked.”
