Questions w/o 12/11

Re: Questions w/o 12/11

  • @Lelo2006 a little slow to respond but I cold turkey stopped my estrace and progesterone 5 days ago. I was a nervous wreck but followed instructions and haven’t had any issues thus far. Good luck! It’s so nerve wrecking stopping them but try to trust your body.

Does anyone have experience with weaning off progesterone and estrace? I just dropped one 200 mg dose starting Tuesday and I am nervous.
I stopped my 200 mg of progesterone at 10 weeks as instructed, 2 nights ago. I called my Ob to ‘make sure’ and ask about the level from  my last blood test - and she said to just stop and btw didn’t even test for it.  Totally freaked out - but so far so good.

I never weaned off from progesterone with DS. I just stopped it at 12 wks. Doc said to stop it at 12 wks again this time. Got two more wks to go.
  • @zombiehoohaa I was in a master's program when I was pregnant with DS and am with this one as well. My classes will be over before my due date but I will take them all the way up to the end because like others say, it will only get harder to complete after baby!

There were people in my classes when I was preggo with DS that gave birth during the semester and the teacher worked with them to make things up, get things done in advance, or gave them til the end of the grading period to turn things in. Check and see if this can be flexible like that, if you could find out what the deliverable at the end will be, and work harder while you can to complete some of the stuff in advance. Or, alternatively, how much leeway you have at the end of class if you were to give birth. Mine is an education master's, so lots of papers and huge amounts of flexibility, I can understand coding might not be like that.
  • This question may be more suited for the PGAL board but it hasn't been active since the 11 so I think it could also fit here. Sorry if it is in the wrong place.
I am currently supplementing progesterone after showing low in early labs, and experiencing a loss my Last pregnancy. I will be 11 weeks tomorrow and am getting nervous to go off the progesterone at 12 weeks. Since I'm not feeling movement yet how do you know everything is progressing as normal and the placenta is doing it's job? My next sono won't be until 20 weeks which feels so far away when you just don't know.
  • @kbernal2021 i had to do the same thing last pregnancy, and low progesterone was the cause of my previous losses. Your body kicks into overdrive on progesterone creation around this time, even if it's low at the start. You will be fine. I went through the same panic though.
  • @Crystal321 how did you know things were progressing as normal after going off the progesterone into your second trimester? Since supplementing I'm not feeling nervous but now that I'm about to go off it those feelings are coming back because I don't know how to tell things will progress okay for the 7 weeks leading up to my sono
  • @kbernal2021 with DS i took it till 13 because i was nervous too but the doc said 12 wks. This time around I’ll be stopping 12-13 and was told 12 again. You won’t feel movement for a bit longer i started feeling the butterflies around 16 wks) I’ll get my NT scan around 12 wks as well so i guess that will be my reassurance. My last scan was this past Monday and I’m 10 wks now. I was able to get the HB twice with my home Doppler which does help with my anxiety.
  • @wildtot are you considered high risk? My Dr won't give sonos that often they did my first which I was 7w3d and then I will have one around 20 weeks and I'm unsure if there will be another later. They check for hb at every appointment every 4 weeks but when your nervous that 4 weeks feels like a lifetime and leading up to the actual sono feels like forever!
  • @kbernal2021 not anymore/at the moment. I have a different doctor this time. With my first i had tons of complications from the start and was afraid of delivering premature (especially after a previous loss). But i managed to make it to full term. This pregnancy is less eventful so i guess more “normal” and doc is not too concerned yet. My next real appointment is at 16 wks and then every month till later in pregnancy or unless i have complications again.
  • Oh okay I wasn't sure since you had a sono at 10 weeks and another scheduled for 12. I have my appointment Friday and plan to ask how I will know everything is okay in between appointments but wanted personal experience too since this will be my first rainbow baby
  • Yeah I’ve had two others before my 10 wks because i was measuring behind and small SCH.
  • My first pregnancy had no complications. Second ended in MC and now this one I measured 2 weeks behind but the Dr wasn't concerned. I plan to bring up the dates because they don't fall in line or make any sense to me.
  • How many of you have at home heart beat monitors?  I didn’t have one with my first, but I’m thinking about asking for one for Christmas.  For some reason I’m feeling more anxiety this time around.  Maybe because I’m older now (29) and know more people who have had miscarriages or losses.  I can’t decide if having it would help ease my mind or make it worse since I could compulsively check for a heart beat.  Thoughts? Advice?

Its also a little more than I’d like to spend. (I would ask for it from DH so really I’m buying it. Lol)
  • @tarheelgirl8 I have one! I got it during my last pregnancy and I love it! I like it for peace of mind, but I won't lie I get a little freaked out if I can't find it but it's still early.. The hb is still hard to find a lot of the time.
  • @kbernal2021 really there wasn't much I could do. I went from weekly ultrasounds with my RE from 4 to 11 weeks, to quitting cold turkey on meds and waiting until week 18 for the next US with my OB. Are you seeing an RE now? Mine told me that if I had spotting or other concerns that I could stop by. Maybe talk with yours for peace of mind

@tarheelgirl8 I couldn't find a heartbeat until 16 weeks with mine, so it didn't end up being the comfort I hoped for before baby kicks appeared. But, I was impatient and likely looking in the wrong places.
  • @tarheelgirl8 my MIL just got me a heartbeat monitor, but I wasn't able to find a heartbeat yet. Trying not to become obsessive about it, but once I can find it, I'd like to use it once a week. I'm ten weeks right now.
  • @tarheelgirl8 i got one with my first and couldn’t find it till about 13 wks. I found it around 9 wks this time and seems to stay in a general area. It helps easy my mind but it was disappointing with my first when i couldn’t find it.
  • @pretzellover and @wildtot I am SO ready to be done with the suppositories. I am glad I don't have to do the shots, but I absolutely hate the constant leaking and overall disgustingness.
