Re: Weekly Randoms w/o 12/11

  • @NamelessAria what a riot! That's hilarious about your hunny jacking your pants.

@May14th2011 hope you feel better very soon!

@krashke I don't think everyone hates US pictures. I'm trying to think back to before becoming pregnant and I feel like I was pretty indifferent to plain, random ultrasounds (not announcements, bc those are always exciting). Now....show me all the baby ultrasounds! But really, I think unless someone is posting monthly ultrasound pictures where it may get old, a part of an announcement is a very exciting thing and people who care about you will love whichever way you choose to announce. If they don't, then they aren't your people. I think your plan is super cute!

  • @krashke - I'm on the train for an US being in an announcement being VERY different than just the random posting/sharing of every single one.  Using it for your announcement, IMO, is totally fine.
  • @doxiemoxie212 - I used to be a flight attendant and two of my former roommates got married/preg while we were still FAs and therefore flew up until I think 3 weeks prior to their due date...super fun working 3-6 flights a day 30+ weeks preg.  One of them lost her mucus plug during one, ha.  She didn't have the baby for a few weeks still...but yeah.
  • @doxiemoxie212 did your doctor tell you to wear compression socks on your flight? I'm doing a much shorter flight (just 3 hours) next week and my doc said I needed them. Feels like overkill, but I borrowed a pair from a girlfriend of mine.

  •  @jsl82 lol I would never want to show you all what I wear around this house. I seriously told dh to just get me a bunch of pajama pants for xmas lol. and I top it all off with this ridiculous longish sweater that he calls me 'grandma sweater'. oh and I had to put a bra on. you girls must really know I like you all :D

    @namelessaria omg stooooppp!! :D

@doxiemoxie212 glad you made it safely!

  • @LaceyBee522 I flew newly pregnant with DS to London (6 hours) and wore compression socks. I have no idea if it helped or not, but it can't hurt to try.

  • So, I started my new job this week. I'm totally thrilled to be in my new position. However, I've run into a serious PITA issue with insurance. My old company terminated my insurance at 11:59 PM on my last day. This new company doesn't allow new hires to enroll in benefits/insurance until the first of the month. So, I'm over here for two weeks without insurance. I have the option to do Cobra, but that is $650 for two weeks - seems ridiculous!

My doctor's office has been cool about it. They just moved my appointment scheduled for next week to January. I'm just bummed because there's something reassuring about having the appointment - you know? Anyway...rant over. Also, something to think about for anyone else considering a career change.

  • @LaceyBee522 no, my doc wasn’t concerned, but I actually hate compression socks. They make my feet go numb. I just move around a lot and drink a ton of water. I think I peed 10 times on that 5 hour flight. Hopefully I won’t have to do compression socks later in pregnancy... I truly hate the feeling of numb limbs lol.
  • @LaceyBee522 re: insurance I’m not sure your company is correct. Your insurance is generally prepaid by your paycheck for the next month so while they stopped taking money out of your non existent paychecks, you should still have coverage until the end of the month. This is how it’s always worked for me, and my mom retired last week and was told the same BS by HR (insurance terminated last day) but they were wrong. She called her insurance, it’s fine. So try calling them.
  • @doxiemoxie212 Yes, what you describe is what I've experienced in the past. I even clarified during my exit interview that my insurance was truly terminated. And it was. They refunded me the difference that was already paid out of my earlier paychecks.

  • @doxiemoxie212 @LaceyBee522 I recently quit my job in August and my HR confirmed that my coverage was terminated at the end of my last day and did not run through til the end of the month.
  • Hi. It's 2 am and I'm wide awake and the only thing I can think about and want is peppermint ice cream.

Work and life have been so busy and hectic. I miss chatting with you ladies all of the time!

Whoever posted about their dh stealing their maternity pants had me cracking up. Was it @NamelessAria ?

Okay, I need at least one or two decent pairs of maternity jeans/pants.  Locally store have NOTHING and it sucks.  I've seen Gap and Old Navy seem to be faves.  How do I measure for these since I'll be ordering online.  Jeans fit me weird when I'm not pregnant so I don't want to guess a size and bother returning a thousand times.  I also need long inseams, still good to go with those brands?

@sabby2 It's slim pickings for long inseams at Gap and Old Navy right now. Most of their sizes are sold out. It's also a PITA to try to search for long inseam on these sights. Searching by "long" does not turn up the right options for some reason. You just have to click on each pair and see if they are offered in tall. This is the pair I got. Now they only have sizes 1, 14, or 16. I think I got the last 8s.

ASOS also has some tall maternity jeans as does Motherhood.

I'm my same size (8 tall) in regular and maternity at Old Navy and Gap though the maternity jeans do sag a bit in the butt.
  • @sabby2 I literally ordered 12 pairs of maternity jeans online (many duplicates in diff sizes), and I'm returning the 10 pairs I don't like. They're super pricey (though I bought them with the 30% off sale at Bloomingdales), but the J Brand ones are by far the most comfortable ones I've found, and they're so effing cute. I'm pretty sure I'll wear them non-pregnant, lol. The inseams are long on most styles (though randomly one was oddly short).
  • Sorry y'all, been MIA for a few days due to work... and i'm actually at work right now procrastinating...

@krashke those people sound awful. kind of joking as i have a few friends who want to remain kidless and hate it when parents overpost kid stuff. but if they are truly your friends they will be interested and supportive of your announcement.

@catlady1215 let me know where you find good pajama pants - i can't find any that are long enough (or don't shrink) and are not too warm. i might try some thin maternity leggings so i can grow into them.

@sabby2 that sounds delicious. i was craving cherry ice cream which is SO RANDOM.

@sabby2 That was me who had the maternity pants stealing husband. :) I'm glad it gave of you ladies a laugh. I thought it was pretty funny.

As for maternity pants: if you need a longer inseam to leave room for a larger butt I'd recommend these leggings if leggings would fit your needs. I have trouble with pants because I really need a size 16 to squeeze my big butt into them but then they're always HUGE at the waist. Size 14 works far better in the waist and legs but then my butt is squished and every time I sit down my pants just sorta disappear in the back. Plumber crack is never attractive. I was hoping I wouldn't have this problem with maternity pants but I still have. It's a little better but still an issue. I know pants with a longer inseam usually work a little better for me. I've had a really hard time finding maternity pants though and honestly now I wear skirts and dresses most of the time. I do really love those leggings I linked though. They fit great everywhere. They're so comfortable. They're a little warmer than normal leggings which is a big plug for winter. Bonus: since they're thicker and have pockets they almost look like normal pants. So under a longer top or whatever it's really hard to tell they're not just pants in the "skinny" style.

I've really had no luck with maternity jeans. I've tried a pair or two from Motherhood. A pair I got at Ross. A pair from Zulily (which were my favorites last time once I had a huge bump and had gained a little weight but are way too big right now) and a pair from Target. The ones from Target have been my favorites so far this time and that's mostly just because I can wear a belt with them so they're not constantly falling down (which hopefully I won't need later for obvious reasons) and they're side panels so I'm not dealing with a belly panel I don't need yet.

I also have a pair of pants from A Pea in the Pod that my mother gave me. I can't find anything on the site that looks like them. But I guess that's not too surprising since my mother got them when I was like 7 weeks pregnant with my first back in 2016. But they're basically blank dress pants that are under the bump. Last time they were fantastic till my belly got pretty large and I'd gained enough weight to make them a little tight in the legs and such. This time around I'm still loving them. My mother gave me 2 pairs and they were by far my favorite "real" pants last time. I wore them all the damn time. I started getting a lot of weird pilling and related issues on the butt there at the end. This pregnancy I've retired the pair from last time because the fabric on the butt just looks.... very done. I'm so glad I have the extra pair for this pregnancy.

I don't know if anyone of that information will be helpful to you.

  • @NamelessAria leggings are my jam.  I know we've all had the hate on lularoe talk before, BUT they are literally my most comfy, favorite things to wear ever right now.  Plus, I feel like I'm supporting my daycare gals who sell it.  They aren't naggy or sketch with their business practices though so I appreciate that.

  • @sabby2 How are the lularoe leggings handling pregnancy? It seems people always either love or hate Lularoe. I have heard fantastic things about their leggings though. I love leggings. I would be totally fine never wearing real pants again and just living in leggings, skirts and dresses. I was thinking about getting some before I found out I'm pregnant again and then I was like "ehh I don't know if they'd work for pregnancy and I may not be the same size after I give birth. I'll hold off."

  • @NamelessAria I wear the TC (tall curvy) size when not pregnant. They are comfortably sitting on my giant (not kidding, I was asked twice this week if we were sure it's not twins) 13 week bump.

  • @sabby2 loving my gap maternity jeans! I got the super slims and was worried they’d be too short.. cause I have that problem.. but they are perfect! Love the full band too.. it’s gots lots of spandex in it so it stays tight. Some pants that I’ve tried have had just a cotton fabric band and they suck! The band is always falling down and losing shape.
  • We started our holiday travels last night at midnight. My 2 yr old got motion sickness and puked probably like 15 times the entire way  (12 hour trip). Miserable!
I turned him rear facing when we finally got to the hotel and it seems to be helping. Poor fellow.
  • @namelessaria I wear OS lularoe prepregnancy. But i notice theirs are not all the same.. some fabrics stretch way more. So i have a few pairs that are getting alittle tight on my belly. My mom gave me a pair of her TC. They'd def work longer on the bump. But I'm 5'2 so they're long. And alittle loose at the knee.

  • @silvergreen Omg I love that.. I was just discussing today with MH that I want to do a woodland/animal theme and if I hadn't painted the room (now nursery) a few months ago I would totally go for something like that!  I was in Homegoods yesterday and they had a 4ft standing giraffe that I'm totally contemplatimg going back to get right now before it's gone.  So not too early to be thinking nursery ideas for me!
  • Update: definitely am sick, might also have allergies but primarily sick lol. At least I know it’s not the flu since I got the flu shot. Sigh.

  • @doxiemoxie212 same girl. Sorry you’re sick too! I have been drowning myself in Vick’s and diffusing essential oils. This morning I got up about 7:30 made breakfast and then went back to bed and slept until 11:30. Rest and hydrate.

@BurlapandLace I would have freaked out too but I have been saying he the whole time as just a bad habit. We are team green so I’m hoping no one spoils it for us!

  • I also think I have an anterior placenta  :( my friend said she doesn't think she ever felt the big movements with hers like others did. Really upset about this cause I think this is our last and those big things are my fav.

but when I look at the alternative and things that could have been, I'll take it.

  • @catlady1215 I had an anterior placenta with my first, and I don’t know how I could have felt more big movements. That kid somersaulted and pummeled me left and right, and made my whole belly move. I guess I don’t technically have anything to compare it to yet, but seriously, I don’t think anterior placentas matter much later on. It’s mostly the early movement that’s affected.
