Re: Weekly Appointment Thread: Week of 12/11

  • Back in on Friday for another weekly check...will get to see if I am dilating anymore.  If not, no sweat, but it will be nice to find out!

  • @jaclyn0405 Exact same boat as you and going in on Friday as well... it worked best for my work schedule, but I kind of wish it was earlier, lol.

@KatieEl I wish my doctor looked like that!

  • @EmilyLove25 me too! I am off every other Friday, so it made sense for all of the other appointments before they became weekly haha.  My boss is at the point where he just wants me to work from home if I can, so I can't complain too much about it.
  • Wednesday! Getting the lovely GBS swab and probably my first cervical check. Not super looking forward to it but it gets me out of the office for the day at 3 so that part will be nice.
  • @gusgus14 @burnsmommy27 Wednesday for GBS/check for me too!  This is actually my first check ever during pregnancy (they checked me twice during labor--5 and 10 cm--for DS1 and never for DS2) so I'm kinda excited about it lol

  • I start my twice weekly, err three, apts.

Tuesday I have my NST scan at 8 am and it's like 10 minutes from my work. I never got into the office before 9 am on a good day. So I'm super stoked to be leaving my house at an ungodly hour because traffic blows going in to Nashville from my house, and the scheduler just scheduled all my apts for 8 am. Also, I'd totally go in to the office to see my friends, but Tuesdays are their work from home days so no point.

Friday I have an Ultrasound and my OB apt. I totally forgot about that apt and was planning to keep DS home from daycare so we could go see santa but no way I'm taking a 2 year old to deal with 2 apts if I don't have to. Especially with how all my apts have been going thus far.

  • @supercoolstephy I feel your pain with the toddler. I have a BPP and a regular OB appointment at two different locations the day after Christmas. I am off, so DD will be home with me and I am now freaking out about how I am going to force the poor girl to come.

I had my regular OB appointment today. I seriously love this midwife and hope she is on when I deliver LO.  This whole 3 appointments a week thing is getting stressful.
  • @lmmjd I have the same thing too the day after Christmas and Jan 2nd, which DS daycare is closed. So I've told DH he has to either go into work late on the 2nd or he has to work from home the entire day. Don't care what he does because I can't take him with me to the NST scan. Thankfully we're both off 12/18 - 1/1 so he'll be home for all my other apts. But gah. I mean, if I have to take him to the US and OB apt I can lock him in his stroller and make him deal with it, but I can't for the NST because those always take forever for me.

  • So...should I be worried my Dr hasn't even brought up at NST?  Do you only have them for certain situations?
  • @conineml Do not worry---totally only for certain situations/high risk/concern. I'm on baby two at 36 weeks 5 days and have NEVER had one!

  • @EmilyLove25 oh thank god!  Not that I really wanted to add ANOTHER appt to my life but I got worried since multiple ladies were suffering through them.  Check that off the list hopefully!
  • @conineml I have them because I'm considered morbidly obese.

  • @supercoolstephy not sure how I missed that label myself (I absolutely hate BMI as a measurement...it tells you literally nothing) I'm sure not going to bring it up though and hopefully I don't have to endure the multiple appts each week!  I don't know how yall do it!  And with toddlers...Superheros
  • @conineml yeah, I'm short, 5'1 and I was about 13-15 pounds away from not being considered that this time. Although, considering the stuff I've had going on this pregnancy, I'm betting she would have still done all of these tests anyway.

Oh and I send the toddler to daycare. Thats how I do it. hahah

  • Yes, @conineml, I am considered high risk because of a carnitine deficiency (an obscure metabolic condition that NO ONE knows about or the effects it could have on a fetus), so they've monitored the baby with a ridiculous amount of growth scans and NST's. Baby is totally fine (as was DD), so I'm grumpy about all of the extra appointments, but doing what I have to.
  • Have my weekly ultrasound and OB appointment on Friday. Will be 34 weeks on Thursday. Can't remember if they're going to do another BPP or not, but they definitely will be doing a growth scan to see how much Baby Girl has grown vs Baby Boy and if they think there's some underlying issue... Will be starting (most likely) twice weekly NSTs next week.

@KatieEl - Is it too late to switch to whatever practice/office that has that gorgeous gorgeous man employed?
  • 37 week check this Thursday. Interested to see if anything has changed since last week. With DS I remember hoping for that and there was hardly any change each week, I also had to be induced-so there’s that. Hoping that being a STM, my body will prepare on its own this time!
  • 37 week appt today, basic appointment, cervical checks won't start for me until next week.
  • I had to cancel my NST today, @supercoolstephy (daycare conflict), and I'm actually pretty excited about it, haha. I enjoyed the NST's for the first couple of weeks, but now I'm just sick of LIVING at the hospital!
  • @cyanope I'm sure I'm going to be over them. I'm just amazed that she passed so quickly this time.

  • @myorke24 its so crazy how fast it's going. I'm only 33+1 but I'm scheduled for my c-section at 39 weeks. I still can't believe it's 40 days max till she's here.

  • @myorke24, I just found out yesterday that I’m positive. Boo! I was with DD, so I’ve done this before, but I’m still annoyed!
  • @cyanope +1 for being positive! IV antibiotics here I come....blah!
  • @cyanope and @jaclyn0405 Darn! Sorry to hear that! If its any consolation, my MFM was positive and said that typically if you are positive during pregnancy, then you're naturally a carrier and most likely get positives outside of pregnancy if they were to screen your urine. Just a roll of the dice. I'm just happy because I truly hate IV hookups, so just relieved it was one less to worry about!
  • @supercoolstephy You literally have a number of days, so crazy amazing! Also, so happy things have settled a bit and she is staying put!

Had my 37 week appointment yesterday.....the office was running behind so DH and I spent 45 minutes in the room after the nurse had checked my weight and bp etc. I was not super amused (they’re almost never running late, let alone almost an hour, I think someone was out sick and the midwife was covering 2 schedules). Then the midwife got in, and I mentioned the terrorist hadn’t been as active as normal, so they immediately stopped what we normally do, ran me across the hall and hooked me up to the NST machine (@conineml I was wondering if I was missing out by not having one of these before too, I feel like everyone else has had them lol). The terrorist proceeded to have 2 big movements in 4 minutes and basically made me a liar lol. She didn’t measure my stomach or do a cervical check this time but his hb was right on track.
I feel like he’s moved back up into my ribs after dropping down last week, just based on how my stomach looks (I had a friend comment over the weekend that I looked like I was carrying higher again) but whatever, other than my squats and some walking I’m not sure I can do anything to move him around haha!
I did also get a call that my GBS came back negative which was fantastic.

  • Had my 36 week appt yesterday w/GBS swab and cervical check- nothing going on downstairs atm but it’s still early. I was hoping all the cervix punches were doing something but oh well. And since I was positive with my first my OB said it’s likely I’ll be positive again - booo I really hope not.
  • I just got back from my 36 week appointment. BP and heart rate are good, and still measuring on track. Got the GBS swab done and my first cervical check. I'm 1cm and softening, but she didn't give me a % or anything for that. She said that the baby is firmly head down, which accounts for all the pressure. DS was born at 41 weeks and she said she is pretty confident that I will not go that late with this one. Hopefully she's right!
