@libbodee Yeah I'd use it too. The only time you can call dibs is when you're writing it on the birth certificate, and even then I think it's ok to repeat the name.

My brothers gf called dibs on a name. They have only been dating 5 months, and it was a name we we're seriously considering. It is her grandmothers name so I understand her territorial-ness but at the same time wtf?? She's not in the family, they could break up before my baby is even born. Pretty bold for the 2nd time I've ever talked to her!!
I have totally done this. My ex and I had been dating for 5 years. His sister was not pregnant, neither was I, but she was married so in theory “closer” to being pregnant I guess. I wanted Liam afternoon my dad (William). She’s had no ties to it except it being Celtic. Joke is on both of us. I didn’t marry into their family and she has one child, a girl, named something else.
I kind of feel bad now that I got mad at my sister when she wanted to name her female dog after my dad, even though I'd told her that was on our list of baby names. Oh wait... no I don't. It's a dog.
