I screwed up and posted in the old thread forgetting we were doing a second thread so here is a copy of my exact post, lol. @lindsayleigh1989 thanks for posting that! I was looking for a good one when I took my 5 weeker last week. I'm taking every one of my pics this time in a "Mindful as F*ck" t-shirt I have. You can't see it in the pics but I'LL know that's what I'm taking it in and that's my goal...to be mindful as f*ck
Is this also the place to ask questions? A few times a week I’m having horrible acid reflux. Tums wasn’t helping, so my RE recommended Zantac. Well I took one last night and it gave me a headache, which can be a side effect. Anyone have any other remedies for this? Home remedies welcome!
@sm05-2 We also have a questions and symptoms thread this would fit in, they can be hard to find sometimes but if you scroll down they are There! That being said, tums so far works for me, so I'm no help there!

Try some pineapple. I forget why, but I’m sure google knows.
@SmashJam Thanks for starting this. Monday and Wednesday sound good for the weekly randoms to start. On that note I am sitting in a french bakery near my house waiting to Uber down to my OB. Mostly it's so my boss can see me signed into messenger and assume I'm doing something other than bumping before my doctor's appointment.
my daughter had her breakfast but when she spied my banana peanht butter toast she instantly became stsrving and i have proceeded to feed her all the banana
I considered maternity pants this morning. I ordered a new pair from old navy and they just got delivered yesterday, so it was so tempting. Instead I went with my regular pants with a belly band. They are completely unbuttoned and barely zipped, so here's hoping the belly band does it's job.
In related news, I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 10 lbs over the last few weeks. I'm not concerned with the weight loss because I am far from thin, but it makes no sense that I've lost weight yet my pants are not fitting. I guess things are already shifting around in there?
@4deep fingers crossed it continues throughout the day!
@amylu914 Have you increased your water intake? That could be helping you, also have you been throwing up or eaten smaller portions of stuff due to being sick/having food aversions?
@gspmom21 yah I have been throwing up and all my guilty pleasure foods that are high calorie sound disgusting right now so the weight loss makes sense. I'm just confused about the fact that I've lost weight, Yet my pants don't fit! It seems too early for it to be baby belly related, but who knows.
I’ll have to pull down my maternity box and see if I can find the belly band. The jeans were handy because my neighbor had borrowed them for the one cool day in her pregnancy and just returned them too me the day before I got my BFP.

My discomfort is all bloat. So much bloat. I haven’t gained any weight, but I am bloated AF.
@blair_krank I am feeling the same way today- I am instantly regretting not buying any maternity jeans or belly bandz or any of those amazing things to do to help with bloating. I have also lost weight and feel uncomfortable in regular pants.
@sm05-2 Questions are good wherever you like to talk to people! I've heard a shot of apple cider vinegar helps balance the stomach, but I think it's only the unfiltered kind, which I don't know if it's recommended for pregnancy. Anyone else? Basically I'm no help lol. Maybe try a different kind of tums? Sometimes the chews work better for me than the chalky ones.
@amylu914 Hey twin! I'm ten pounds down, too, but I'm wearing pants unbuttoned and my boobs are bigger than ever. And someone told me the other day I looked like I'd lost a bunch of weight! This happened with my first, too, because like you I've got the weight to lose, but I don' t know where it's coming from. It's gotta be coming out of my stomach or butt. Either that or gas (bloat) weighs less than fat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think DH might not be able to come to my appointment this Friday. He would miss half a day of work since the appointment is late morning and he's super swamped at work. I don't know if I should reschedule the appointment, absolutely dig in my heels and insist me come or just go alone. I know he wants to come and he's so supportive but this is like the worst week for him to be away from the office. I'm leaning towards telling him it's ok and going on my own.
@runsomewhere I'm in the same boat. I called yesterday to get al appointment with the CNM I want, and they had a cancellation Monday, which if I don't take I'll have to wait over a month to have someone for regular care. The Man is out of town and Monday's his first day back so he's going to be slammed. He can't come, so even though I'd like to dig in my heels it won't do any good, but I never do appointments without him when there's an ultrasound, and last time we did the meet-and-greet new doctor together. I feel sad and lonely thinking of going alone, but don't feel like I have a choice. So, I'm no help but wanted to say solidarity. This sucks.
I’m afraid to say it out loud for fear of jinxing it, but I feel good this morning! Like normal good. Sweet baby Jesus don’t take this away from me!!
I've had a couple days (not in a row) that I felt like semi-normal. It can be a little alarming -- but maybe we are making our way to feeling better slowly, but surely?
@christycalifornia thanks for the solidarity and sorry you're going through this too.
Last time DH came to the first appointment, NT scan and anatomy scan but no other appointments, there was just no point and it's hard for him to miss work (he's in finance, has a lot of reportees). I am seeing the same doctor as last time and I'm totally comfortable. I just wish he'd be there to see the baby for the first time, it's a little sad.
Last time after 32 weeks I ended up getting weekly growth ultrasounds because my fundal height never measured past 32 weeks. The baby grew just fine but my belly didn't so they monitored me. There were a few times when I went alone that I felt sad like people in the waiting room thought that my baby didn't have a dad that loved her very much. I wanted to be like "guys dad is wonderful and loves us he just can't be here ok!!!!
@runsomewhere could you video the appointment? Or go out to lunch with him afterwords or dinner? Find a way to make it special even though he won’t be there?
It really sucks when you have to go alone, but especially now there’s not a whole lot to see and the picture will be almost as good at the real thing. Not that it makes you feel better I’m sure.
I went to pretty much all of my appointments alone last time because H is self employed with no employees so he can’t leave easily. So I send some solidarity to you too.
@runsomewhere My husband is in Puerto Rico for work and missed our first appointment. I was so scared that something was going to go wrong and I would be all alone with DS. I feel like it's a really personal choice-you do you! Good luck!!

Are there any other pinup/rockabilly/vintage mommas in this group?
My wardrobe and this bloat are not going well together!
Over the last two years I've lost 70+ lbs, got to a place where I felt
comfortable building/spending money on a real wardrobe and my hubs
finally got used to being the guy out with the girl wearing petticoats with her hot pink hair up in victory rolls(back to brunette in Sept for my brother's wedding).
And now we're here, unexpectedly, and I'm finding I'm ill equipped to handle all these changes to my waist and bust. I'm struggling for ideas how to stretch my current wardrobe out as long
as possible. I hate pants (leg prisons) and would rather die than wear leggings anywhere but the gym. True vintage generally has no stretch, I'm down to only a handful of my high waist skirts that had enough room to begin with, and there doesn't seem
to be much out there for my style in the maternity world. And I don't do
normal very well! Help! I can't be the only pinup momma here!
Sorry if this should have gone to a different thread, felt like random was the best place!
@noideawhatshesdoing I wanted to say I have always loved the pinup look! I wish I had the self confidence to have that style! The closest I get is red lipstick and cat eye makeup for special occasions Have you tried Amazon?
@noideawhatshesdoing I love the look, personally couldn't rock it myself but wish I could! I just a quick search and found some cute maternity rockabilly pieces on etsy. not sure if they are your style or not or even true to the style so forgive me if they aren't but I found this one.
@runsomewhere it's your FIRST appointment?? I missed that at first blush. That sucks, hon. Do they just have no other availability?
@noideawhatshesdoing I've moved away from it in the last few years due to weight gain, but I've always been down for the vintage look. Not knowing your wardrobe I can't really give opinions on how to stretch it, but eventually when the bump gets big I love a simple skinny pant (leg prison lol) with Chuck's and a small plaid button down and bandana hair or rose. My only other advice is to keep going with the high-waist pieces and start switching to body-con skirts with lots of give. You can transition to comfort; imo most of the look is in how you style yourself and attitude anyway. While we're in this weird in-between where nothing fits but it's too early for mat clothes (which very little of will be vintage-y, sorry. Mat clothes in general aren't at all imaginative.) don't feel like you can't be you. Keep styling yourself and rocking the rockabilly attitude, and wearing a lot of black in the meantime and it'll just be like you're incognito for a year. And when summer comes, rock the heck out of a vintage-style bikini with your big baby bump!
I got my first maternity top at Target. $7 on sale. It's like a light sweatshirt with cold shoulders and ruffles. So cute! Too big around my belly but so comfortable!
Thanks for the love ladies. I was having a major pity party this morning when it seemed like nothing fit, partly because of the bloat and partly because I've retired my shapewear for now.
@lindsayleigh1989 That's Miss Betty Doll in the pic, completely forgot about her! She's sure to have some tips on her blog! Thank you!
@Duckie678 It all sort of happened by accident. I had been losing weight and getting fit and as I was replacing my wardrobe all the new pieces just happened to be more and more vintage style. Eventually I realized I was most comfortable that way.
@christycalifornia Mostly swing skirts and dresses. A few wiggle dresses. Thankfully my swing skirts from Hell Bunny and Banned still seem to be working, and I might be able to just push them up a bit higher for a while. And I did take advantage of Le Bomb Shop's black Friday sale ($15 dresses and skirts with stretchy waist bands). I think my crop sweaters will work the whole time since they can sit on top of the bump. Will probably not be able to button them though. Haha. I think I will probably have to just suck it up and do the skinny pant thing eventually, but ugh, pants are so uncomfortable. Hair flowers will always fit no matter what size we're wearing! I do have the super spy dress from Heart of Haute, which is super stretchy and I hear can work almost the whole 9 months. I might just live in that. Haha! And yes, a vintage-style bikini is for sure!
@stlmegs Exactly. I own literally 1 pair of jeans. No other pants. I just wear tights in the winter and if it's really cold and soggy, fleece lined tights. Yay winters in Oregon.
THAT GIF Literally me and DH coming home from anywhere pants are involved.
@WorkinWeezel DH had the audacity to complain his tummy was upset (from bed) this morning after hearing me dry heaving while changing DS diaper. Oh no no no
