I don't have a super romantic proposal story but I like it anyway. We had talked and decided we wanted to get married, but MH didn't have a big attachment to a lot of the rituals because French Canadians don't get married anymore, or at least not often. I saw this ring in a local store and totally fell in love with it. It went on sale, and I kept nagging reminding him to go get it before it was gone. Finally he did and came back and got in bed and convinced me to lie down with him. He flipped back the blanket to show the ring, said "let's do it!" and that was that! I pulled out the smartphone I had bought him as an engagement present and actually managed to really surprise him. Then we went and surprised my mom who may have been even more excited than me because she loves MH so much.
So mi DH proposed in a park, 28th March ‘12, by a lake, 5 minutes walk from our old place. Sounds romantic but I had been getting annoyed because we’d been playing frisbee (his request) and he’d been throwing really badly. He’d been trying to use this tactic to get us to move to a nicer spot apparently! The last bad throw I said he should get it himself and off he trotted. Next thing I know he’s rummaging around the ground and saying “come and look at this!”. I went over thinking the frisbee had landed in a dog turd. Then he put his hand in his pocket, and I thought “what’s he doing with the dog turd???”. When I was close enough he proposed. It was a rollercoaster of emotions before and after, and he’d cleverly packed champagne and strawberries which we tucked into until we were thrown out of the park at closing time. It was perfect!
If the wedding dresses got me teary eyed, the proposals got me even more! All of these are so sweet!
My guy proposed after a day of doing our usual Sunday things. We went to our dear friends family's house for dinner- they live on a beautiful ranch (that they just sold, cue tears again) and had family dinners every sunday that we were always invited to. He had his brother and is then fiance there as well as our friends whole family. I was asked to go pick Italian parsley from the garden, and in the bed was my ring. He said all the sweet things and we both cried! He had all our friends and family meet us at our favorite little bar to celebrate after. It was adorable and magical! On top of that, one of our friends is a beautiful photographer so we had the whole thing captured and it sweet to look back on!
I love all of these! So heartwarming. My DH proposed the day after Christmas at a rooftop restaurant in San Diego- his cousin manages it so we went for the sunset before it officially had opened for the night. It was just us and he enlisted his cousin for pics. I started to get suspicious because he was acting so funny- turns out he was just nervous!
I love hearing all these stories. Disclaimer, my faith is central to my life and figures prominently in this story.
My ring is not what I would have chosen for myself, but it is an heirloom from my mother's mother. On the day he was going to propose, I heard him ask my mom for the ring, so I knew it was coming. We were taking a day trip from Tucson to the LDS temple in Mesa, and I figured that was where he'd ask. The one problem was that he can't drive in Phoenix and I couldn't find my keys. We looked for over an hour before finding them...in my pocket
We got to the temple and all the sudden he was super nervous, so I suggested we go inside the visitor's center and look at the collection of nativity sets. They were beautiful, but by the end of the tour I was remembering all the reasons I was terrified of getting married. I suggested we go see the Christus since I was getting less and less sure of myself. We listened to the 90 second narration, and when I heard these words, all my fears and doubts vanished. "Let
not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God; believe also in me. A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love
one another as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." After that Robert took me outside to the temple grounds. He kissed me softly and then said "Jana, I know you are afraid of dying young (he went on to list several other fears I had confided in him) and I am afraid of some of those things too. I don't know what the future will bring, but I know whatever happens, I want to be with you." He then got down on both knees and pulled out the ring "Jana C***** will you do me the honor of becoming my eternal companion?" The first person we told about our engagement was Viking's namesake and he just laughed and said "it's about time!"

Happily married since 5/24/2015 Momma of a baby Viking since 4/16, expecting #2 in 5/18
My DH and I met when we both moved to the UAE to be international school teachers. We moved in August and worked at different schools but met through mutual friends in September. Our friendship/relationship moved quickly and a year later he proposed. He planned for us to go to dinner across from th Burj Al Arab and then to walk along the coast. I was hesitant to do the walk because I knew we could get a golf cart to the hotel instead but he insisted. He talked about how great everything had been and then got down on one knee. He had Skyped my parents the previous week to ask them!
