Just mentioned this in my ticker change, but my FI doesn't want to come at the tail-end of my baby shower. I thought that it was pretty customary to do so and help with the carrying of the gifts and everything, but he doesn't want to do it and said it would be awkward for a guy to be there. So we have argued about it a few times and now I am just done with it. I guess I can't make him change his mind and I really wouldn't want to force him to do something he doesn't want to do. Oh well.
My friend’s husband came at the end of hers, but I don’t really think many people even noticed. If you’re concerned that it would seem rude for him not to show I wouldnt put much worry into it. You’re the star of the show anyways
I think my animals have fleas. It’s going to be quite interesting giving the fluffy main coon a flea bath
My shower was out of town and DH didn't drive with MIL, SIL and I. I agree with @maueraa07, it was a lot of fun to show him everything once we got home and unpacked it all!
Yes thank you girls!! I didn't even think of how fun it would be to almost open the gifts all over again with him! My shower is in NJ and we live in MD, so coordinating getting everything home will be fun haha, but I really needed to hear that. I thought I was going to be looked at weird or something if he didn't show. I know, I know wayyyyy too much over-analyzing on the subject lol.
I've been really slacking with walking lately. I used to do so well pre-pregnancy and have been okay about getting some steps since getting pregnant (although usually far from the 10-12k daily steps I used to get) but the last few weeks I'm lucky to get more than 4k just from any walking I do in the office or around the house. So anyway, the weather has finally cooled off and it's been gorgeous today so I told myself this is the week to get back into it (minus our travel at the end of the week/weekend). Instead of my lunch break, I like to do 3 20 minute walks to break up my day. It's so much harder than I expected! I mean, I can do it but I definitely started out too fast during my first walk this morning and was feeling it at the end. Plus my butt just feels really stiff and it makes it feel awkward to walk. Plus, my walk buddy is out on maternity leave for the next 4 weeks and while it's kind of nice to be alone, it's also much more enjoyable when I have her to bitch about work with. It makes the time go much faster.
Because my belly button is getting shallower and shallower as my stomach grows, I discovered this weekend that i have a mole inside of my belly button. Haha, who knew!
My youngest nephew (4 yrs) continues to crack me up regarding the fact that he hates baby girls (referring to getting a baby girl cousin instead of the boy he wanted). This weekend I spent the night at my parents' house and he helped my mom get the guest bed ready. He was very adamant that he was only helping for his aunt and the pillows and sheets were only for his aunt and not for the baby girl. Later, he stuck a balloon in his shirt and my dad asked if he was having a baby girl like his aunt. He was repeating over and over again that it's a boy baby in his belly and not a girl because he hates baby girls. To top it off he told my dad that the baby girl was not allowed at his house (he's already stated that he won't come to my house once the baby girl is born)). When asked if he wants to see his aunt and uncle, he said that his aunt and uncle could come without the baby girl. My dad pointed out that you can't leave a baby alone so he decided that his aunt could stay home with the baby girl and his uncle would come alone to his house. Lolz. I have a feeling that he is actually going to be the most involved with his baby cousin and will want to hold her and help out a lot. He did bring me an old baby toy of his and ask if I wanted it for the baby because he doesn't play with it anymore.
Apparently I think I'm super woman and can ignore bedrest. I went to hobby lobby for less than 20 minutes. Walked super slow. Like... Turtle slow. and wowza! I should have not gone and listened to my dr's orders. Officially not doing anything like that again. But I did get my cross stitch stuff so I'm going to teach myself to cross stitch since I'm just hanging around.
@jaclyn0405 My husband has been super obnoxiously cautious with me, and today he was back at work so I could do what I want. So I went out. It was dumb. I'm dumb. I should have stayed home. Also... I couldn't send him because there is no way he would have understood which thread to buy.
@supercoolstephy I just laughed out loud because it’s so true, there are just some things the guys can’t do for us lol. Just don’t tell him it was a bad idea when he sees said new thread lol!
Oh girl @supercoolstephy I hear you. When I was on bedrest with DD I had to try to describe to DH what makeup items I needed brought to the hospital, yes I'm vain and have blonde eye brows, so no eye brows without makeup. It was terrible, he made so many trips. Lol
But stay your butt in bed. Glad you have an activity now
@supercoolstephy@burnsmommy27 And this is why i take pictures or google pictures of the things DH needs to buy at the store and then text it to him. I laugh to myself imagining him wandering around stores with the picture open on his phone trying to find it haha.
@burnsmommy27 I had a special makeup bag for my last pregnancy, filled with all the stuff that lasts for over 24 hours. haha. I need to reorder my stuff again.
@gilsam1 I honestly had no idea what I needed. I was trying to look on the hobby lobby website but it wasn't pulling up everything.
Also, DH was going to Old Chicago before going so he would have been tipsy wandering around hobby lobby looking for cross stitch that his wife has no idea what she needed. haha I kinda wish I would have seen that.
@gilsam1 yes I do that too, just couldn't in that particular case. I sent DH to ULTA last week while I was sick. He walked in and like 3 ladies asked to help him. He held up my bareminerals and said "my wife needs this" what a guy
@supercoolstephy now maybe you should have sent him tipsy, it would have been even funnier, for you, not him lol
@jaclyn0405 I will. I need to look at my orders from last pregnancy because some I didn't reorder afterwards because I didn't need 24 hour stuff after that since my skin is super dry.
LOL my husband too, he’s the man FaceTiming his wife in a grocery store aisle. My new favorite thing is making a list on the notes app, and adding pictures of what each thing looks like, then share the list with him and he’s all set with his picture list I’ve created LOL! It’s time consuming but at least he gets the flavor/brand right.
I received a weird email today (to my work email address) saying "here are the perks of your new AAA membership." I had no clue what it was all about, so I messaged DH and my mom. Hilariously, my mom bought me a AAA membership for my birthday (it's tomorrow), and she was planning on "giving" it to me tomorrow and did not realize that the email would be sent. Lol. That's 35 for you, ladies--the gift you get (and genuinely want) is a AAA membership
@EmilyLove25 That is hilarious! I remember my first birthday after DD was born, my parents got me a Mamaroo, and I don't think I had ever been more excited in my life. Happy early birthday!!
@jaclyn0405 My husband is coming to our baby shower, and the last one I attended also had the husband at it -- is that not as normal as I thought it was? I know that they had traditionally in the past been women-only, but I figured that had switched around for the most part.
@madcouplewithabox I just wanted to show flea solidarity. I am dying over here, but the cat's fleas have not been dying fast enough. We spent the weekend washing, vacuuming, and isolating so many things and it has not been fun. Good luck!
@supercoolstephy@burnsmommy27 And this is why i take pictures or google pictures of the things DH needs to buy at the store and then text it to him. I laugh to myself imagining him wandering around stores with the picture open on his phone trying to find it haha.
This is what I do. I'm brand-agnostic on a lot of things, but if I think he might be a little unsure of what I'm asking for or if I'm specific about what it is, I always text a picture with relevant details.
(I have strong feelings about my pads, y'all -- and after the first time the poor guy stood in the pad aisle trying to remember if I hate scented pads, I realized it would be way easier on him, lol. The least I can do is make it easy on him if he's doing me a favor.)
@scatteringashes I imagine whether its normal or not really depends on your circle. Men at showers (outside of popping in for a few minutes at the beginning/end to say thanks/hi) is not common in my social circle at all.
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@EmilyLove25 I’m totally with you on the practical gifts! A couple years ago DH got me a new set of pots and pans and it was honestly one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten. He also got me socks and a video baby monitor for Christmas last year and I was thrilled
We are in potty training mode with DS these days. Everytime he catches me peeing he says “Yayyyyyyy Mommy! You pee on potty! You get an M&M!” Hahaha cracks me up every time which is a lot because-pregnancy.
@jakobaby that’s so cute! I was changing DD’s diaper today and she pointed at my crotch and asks “you too??” I was like nope, but with snissing, I prob should LOL
@EmilyLove25 happy birthday!! Our birthdays are so close! Mine is on Thursday
@supercoolstephy when our dog got into my knitting bag, and decided my BRAND NEW speed needles were very tasty, DH went to Joann Fabric to buy me new ones. He actually managed to get the right ones! I was impressed! LOL
as for makeup stuff- I'm all about using things that last. I typically workout during the middle of the day at my office, and last thing I want, is makeup running down my face while I'm pouring sweat at the squat rack. My favs are the following:
@IrishPiratess yay knitting! My favorite hobby. Totally agree with the Urban Decay eye primer. Your eyeshadow isn't going anywhere. They also make the All Nighter setting spray, and I think it does a really good job keeping everything in place and looking good.
@maueraa07 yeah! I have the spray as well! I use it for "special occasions", but not on a daily. I guess for L&D it would get used for the extra staying power! Edit to add: YAY! Knitting!!!! I'm working on a new blankie for this baby. I made one for DD, and I didn't want them to have to share. I admit, I'm a bit over ambitious with this one, and thought it would be BRILLIANT to do an entrelac blanket....it's taking WAY longer than I anticipated.
@IrishPiratess Good luck getting it done! I always go way more ambitious than I should. I started a dress for this LO but ripped it out because I hated the yarn. I have a sweater with half a sleeve for DS that has come to a standstill because I don't have the right size DPNs and I hate magic loop.
Can I just talk about my day yesterday? I feel like freaking Superwoman...
1. I worked a full day, which included teaching six classes and being on my feet all day. 2. Then, I picked DD up from daycare along my four month old nephew (I watch him for a few hours, two days a week). 3. Next, I went grocery shopping with a 21 month old and a four month old. It was a BIG shopping trip since I haven't been to the store in a while (out of town all last week), so it took a long time. 4. Then, I came home, unloaded the two kids, lugged a ton of groceries upstairs, and put them all away. 5. By this point, it was time to make dinner. I made sour cream enchiladas (with a "from scratch" sauce) for six adults and one kid (we had some people over for dinner last night). 6. I cleaned up dinner, and made lunches for the next day while DH bathed DD. 7. Next, I started the bedtime routine with DD, and we got her in bed by 8:00. 8. Then I immediately went downstairs and worked on decorations for my SIL's baby shower this weekend from 8:00 until 11:30. 9. I showered, got in bed just before midnight, only to wake up at 5:45 this morning to get ready for work.
I'm flippin' exhausted, but feeling productive is one of my favorite things in the world, and my tired, pregnant body hasn't been this productive in a LONG time!
@cyanope you are superwoman! Just the grocery trip with two littles makes you a superwoman in my eyes haha! My DS hates any type of shopping so it's always an eventful task. Yay for being productive! I know it feels good!
Today is my Friday! I should probably be productive especially since I ended up not coming in yesterday thanks to a terrible headache and I'm probably leaving early today but I doubt I'll get more than a couple of things done. Oh well.
You DO need this recipe, @supercoolstephy. They're delicious! DH jokingly asked if they were on his "meal plan" and I told him, "Let's just say the first ingredient is butter...you decide." Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

My favs are the following:
Urban Decay's Primers for eyes. I use the anti-aging one. I used it for my outdoor wedding that was at the end of July (in Baltimore) and my eyeshadow/liner/lashes/etc DID NOT MOVE. https://www.ulta.com/anti-aging-eyeshadow-primer-potion?productId=xlsImpprod5640314
I also use Too Faced's Born this way foundation (not every day, only when I need it-typically for photoshoots or performances) https://www.ulta.com/born-this-way-absolute-perfection-foundation?productId=xlsImpprod12621017
Benefit's Brow-Zam kits are fabulous and last as well and really last:

and my "I can't live without you" eyeliner: Stila's All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner (it's a Pen style, not a brush): https://www.ulta.com/stay-all-day-waterproof-liquid-eyeliner?productId=xlsImpprod1840049
