Ok so this was what I wore when I delivered DS. I am a makeup snob, and I used to be able to spend all my fun money on makeup before DS, so some of these I would probably skip now that I don't have all the fun money I used to have. haha. Also, I had a scheduled induction so I had time to do my makeup and it lasted all night and day. I still touched up before I started pushing because I had time because I was just sitting there waiting and having an epidural was nice. haha.
Bronzer : I just used what I had on hand since the primer really kept everything in place. I usually use a MAC bronzer and this Marc Jacobs Contour kit
OMG you are all so nice. I think I am using the birthday to treat myself to an early exit from work and to go for a little run by DD's day care, and then pick her up early and go home. The weather is PERFECT. My family and I are going to dinner at an Indian restaurant, so my acid reflux will be a NIGHTMARE later, lol. Totally worth it!!
@gusgus14 You are a woman after my own heart. I totally would a. not do more work even if I could b. not work ahead even though I was going to be off and c. leave early.
My husband and I were talking about the birth plan* and I mentioned that I did write a quick section of, "Hey, if something happens and I'm unable to contribute in the event of medical emergency, my husband is 100% the decision-maker. He and I have discussed several what-if and worst-case scenarios."
I tell him, "We should consider what the gameplan is for you and the baby if I die in childbirth. It's not very likely, and I don't think I will, but it is possible."
He's quiet for a moment, then replies, "Well, we should also have a plan if I die in childbirth. What if I get so excited that I trip and fall out of a window right before the baby is born?"
I laughed for a full fucking minute, y'all. "I feel like there's remarkably few instances of the father dying in childbirth."
"We should cover all our bases here."
We then discussed life insurance and how I'd want him to still spend time with my son if I die, and also how he and the baby will buy a new car and move to Mexico to start a new life.
* (I've done a one-page write-up that's half jokes, half "well, we're aiming for this, but eh, shit happens", so don't think I'm taking this whole thing very seriously, lol.)
@scatteringashes Ugh. I can joke/stress/think about a lot of things, but for some reason I can't let my mind go toward dying during childbirth... I joke about dying all the time, but for some reason not in childbirth.
I have two free hours at work (but someone could knock on my door), and I am considering taking my bra off, heating up my leftovers, eating while I internet surf and then napping... Professional?
@EmilyLove25 It is a particularly tragic topic -- like, there are plenty of ways and possibilities for kicking the bucket, and it's shitty that we live in a developed nation where so many women are at greater risk of having it happen during childbirth.
I can joke about it up to a point. It's the considering of losing the time afterward that gets me all choked up and anxious.
@scatteringashes@EmilyLove25 My MIL was recently telling me that when her mother was in labor with her sister that something wasn't going right and the dr went to the father and asked "Do you want me to save the mother or the baby?" I had to shut that conversation down fast, I cannot imagine being in that situation. Thankfully they were both able to make it.
@caeilievalor my first thought when I saw it, before I even saw your note, was that it looked like a wedding dress. I really love that pink one too.
My friend who is a photographer recently had her maternity photos done and she said she got her dresses from www.sewtrendyaccessories.com and I'm kinda obsessed with it, not the price because I really don't need a $130 maternity dress that I'll likely wear once but they are beautiful.
@caeilievalor I think I like the white and pink the best... I love everything about the grey SO much but not the drapey thing over the boobs. The white is wedding dress-ish but I LOVE the fit!
@caeilievalor I lovvveeee the gray one! It's gorgeous! I agree about the white one; it's beautiful but it does make me think wedding. The pink one is nice, but I just love that flowy whimsical look like the gray!
(Edit: words; the bump app writes what it wants to half the time..)
I like the gray one best, @caeilievalor. The other two are lovely as well, just NMS. Random for the day: We just had our "Great CA Shakeout" earthquake drill in class (I'm sure this isn't the norm in other states, but welcome to CA...the land of earthquakes). Folding my pregnant body into the tiny space under my desk was pretty comical. I was SO out of breath by the end of the two minutes...
Okay ladies! Thanks for your input. I think I’m not going to do the white one. I just think “wedding” every time I see it. So I’ll do the grey and then maybe one of these...tell me what you think.
Wow! I wasn’t expecting such a consensus, haha! I was also leaning towards the green one as well and after all your comments I called the photographer and told her about the change. But...she said that one isn’t part of their selection. It was owned personally by that mother-to-be. Waaawaaa...so back to square one I guess. I’m going to look for some dresses I can buy on my own and see what I find. I need one for my shower anyway. Thanks for all your input!
@caeilievalor boo! Does she have the navy one? Jewel tones would look nice on you (I may have FB stalked you a little) and it's a good contrast with the gray so you get two very different looks.

@EmilyLove25 Your birthday was yesterday? ME TOO! HAHA! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I turned 32!
As for my random...
I need advice on which maternity dress to wear to my maternity shoot. I get to choose two and these are the ones I’ve chosen at the moment...
But I can’t help but feeling like the white one looks like a wedding dress. It’s totally gorgeous though!!
Another option is this one:
What do you ladies think? Does the white one seem like a wedding dress? Is the pink one better? What do you think of the grey one?
My friend who is a photographer recently had her maternity photos done and she said she got her dresses from www.sewtrendyaccessories.com and I'm kinda obsessed with it, not the price because I really don't need a $130 maternity dress that I'll likely wear once but they are beautiful.

gray+green are my faves, if she doesn’t have them, check ASOS, sometimes they have fitted jersey dresses like that for a good price!
This was the dress I got just to give you a visual...and for the price it was really nicely made!
