You guys are cute. I won’t even begin to admit how much I’ve gained. I know a huge part of it was because I went from doing so well on weight watchers to indulging in everything . Plus never once having morning sickness didn’t help anything! Excuse me while I go cry into my Oreos

The only reason I haven't had a massive gain is because I was so sick 1st and 2nd tri. By the time I felt like I could eat without getting freaking nauseous or throwing up, LO was crowding my stomach so much, I can't eat much at any given time *Technically* I've gained about 20 lbs this pregnancy, but I lost so much weight at the beginning, my net gain isn't actually very high at all. But, puking constantly doesn't necessarily feel worth it
For weight tracking purposes, do you count from when you found out you were pregnant? I lost a bunch of weight at the beginning because I was so sick, so do I count from my "lowest" weight? Because that would be bad for morale.

@ameliabedelia-2 I'm counting from when I found out I was pregnant. I loss about 7 pounds at the end of the 1st trimester and beginning if the 2nd, but I just ignore that and go with my net gain. I knew it would all come back because it's water weight like when you get the flu or something.
@ameliabedelia-2 my doctor counts from your first visit, so for me, that is 8 weeks. For them, you can technically have a healthy pregnancy and only lose weight. My goal this time is to keep my official weight gain under 10 lbs (considering I lost 20 in my first and second tri, that actually allows me to "gain" 30).
@Skcobb, ok so I am in the same boat and that's sort of my goal too, not to end up more than 10 lbs more than my pre-pregnancy weight. Though with how things are going the last week or so, that might be a stretch. I don't eat like garbage and haven't noticed an increased appetite. I'm definitely gaining much more quickly now, but I don't know how since I am not eating more?

With my first I gained over 60 pounds. I had lost 35 immediately prior to getting pregnant so those 35 came back quick. With this one, I had HG so my pregnancy gain is under 10 pounds but only because I've been so sick, otherwise I'm sure it wouldn't be much different than my First. don't beat yourself up over how much you gained or didn't gain for that matter during pregnancy. You are growing a human and you are amazing!
@ameliabedelia-2 I use the starting weight as the weight I was the day I found out I was pregnant
I have to echo @Marley629. It's not a bad idea to keep an eye on your weight, but people have healthy pregnancies on both ends of the spectrum, so I would urge you not to fixate. A friend of mine had HG and gained 16 pounds max (and she was thin before). Her baby was 8.5 pounds. By the time she left the hospital, she was pretty much back to her pre-pregnancy weight. I know other people who have gained closer to 60 lbs and have also had healthy babies. Some of it is just luck and genetics. I don't even know how much I gained with DD. My OB doesn't read the scale out loud, so if you don't look, you don't know. This time I think I've gained about 20 but I wasn't completely done with the baby weight from last time. I was pretty happy with how it was coming off, though. Be gentle with yourselves

@ktcakes87 *offer of internet hugs* I agree with all the pp who reminded you that you're an amazing human growing another amazing human, which is priority #1 right now. I think it is wonderful that you had lost so much weight before getting pregnant, and that it's a great sign that you'll be able to do it again when you and your body are ready post-baby.
One of our dogs loooves to rub all over your wet towels. (DH lets her rub on his but I don’t because ew dog hair/smell.) This morning I got up to pee and came back to her rubbing on my side of the bed where the blankets were peeled back. That’s how bad my night sweats were.
Also, re: weight gain. The number stresses me out but my OB says I’m in a good range. And I’m worried that now I’ll start gaining more rapidly (because baby’s weight is supposed to like triple before the end!) and yeah.
@ktcakes87 girl preach! I lived a mostly low carb lifestyle prior to getting pregnant, and I have obviously included more carbs into my diet since. At first my OB was like “maybe you’re an early gainer” but now I think we are just in the trajectory to be “a gainer.” Have I indulged more than usual? Sure. But I’m not mainlining cake or anything. It takes 9-10 months to put it on, and I have the mind set it will take that to take it off. Be kind to yourself, there’s so much pressure being pregnant these days that I refuse to let my weight gain be one of them. If I want a cookie I’m eating a cookie.
@ktcakes87 I gained ~60 pounds with the twins... yah I'm on track to do that again and this is a singleton... ugg I try to eat healthy but it is what it is... hugs lady

@wabash15 that makes me feel better because I'm pretty sure I'm on track to gain about that much with these twins. The woman who led our Expecting Twins class said she gained about 70 lbs when she was pregnant with her second set, but she's quite fit now, so that gave me hope that I can get the weight off too!
@leilagphillips I was told the goal was to gain 35-45 lbs during the pregnancy but my MFM was also pushing me to eat 3000+calories a day... (I think I rarely achieved that goal). I think I dropped about 30lbs before I left the hospital and then about 15 more lbs slowly came off. I had to be careful though because anytime I tried to loose weight post partum my milk supply would plummet so I still had ~15lbs of baby weight on when I got pregnant this time. Oh and fair warning I ate WAY more nursing than I did during pregnancy... it was ridiculous. I ate 4-5 full meals a day plus snacks. I even woke up in the middle of the night for a full meal because I was STARVING all the time.

Yeah, as @wabash15 said, breastfeeding does burn a ton of calories, so it can help you lose weight, but it can also help your body hold onto weight because you need to eat a lot to keep up your supply. So, it may not ALL drop off until you're done breastfeeding. Just be kind to yourself throughout the WHOLE journey (it doesn't end when baby is born).
