My MIL is trying to declutter her house INTO MY HOUSE again.
Most recently, there was a huge stash of blankets. I was like, "Was one of these DH's lovey? Are any particularly precious?" She said, "they are all precious!" Guys, there were Delta Airlines blankets in there.
At least four of the non-returnable baby blankets we received at the family & work showers are going straight to Good Will. We're keeping the hand-made ones, all cotton ones, anything personalized, anything from a Grandma that will physically be in our house before Christmas, etc, but the ones that make me itch are going away ASAP. I feel a little guilty, but we literally have a laundry basket full of just blankets and I haven't finished his baby quilt.
@Amber_Waves HOOOO, buddy, have I been there! MIL retired and went into ultra clean-out mode. Most recently she gave DH a scrapbook that was allegedly "his." Nope, it was a scrapbook some of the other kids in his grade at the time made forher as a thank-you/teacher appreciation gift. DH is only even in like 3 of the pictures.
@kyrwyn. Yes to the homemade fiasco. A dozen purple and hot pink homemade blankets later, and I think to myself "Ah. This is why people are #TeamGreen."
My FFFC today is that I am too lazy to get up and go blow my nose at night when my hips are hurting. The inside cover of the magazine on my night stand is definitely covered in giant preggo boogers.
So most of this pregnancy I've tried to eat at least moderately healthy. Which is difficult because all veggies taste like crap to me now. That being said, the NC Fair starts today. DH and I are taking DD Sunday morning and I plan to eat all. the. things. Grilled corn, funnel cake, fried candy bars, country ham biscuits, corn dogs, ribbon fries and possibly cheesecake on a stick. Plus anything else that strikes my fancy. And then I will go first thing in the morning to the doctor and be horrified by the amount of weight I am sure to gain.
I guess my FFFC is I haven't eaten all that healthy. I mean, we plan healthy dinners during the week. And we try not to eat out more than two meals per week. But my sweet tooth is out of control. I definitely have one when I'm not pregnant, but it's ramped up. Annnd I don't really deny it too often. Oops.
@Amber_Waves Did she throw in a guilt trip too? DH is a Momma's boy and a sucker for guilt trips, so our basement is filled with her stuff. Eventually we give it to Goodwill and play it off like we can't find it.
@Skcobb fuuuuuunnelllll caaaaaake. I tried to insert the meme of heavy breathing cat, but it wouldn't let me.
My FFFC: I don't care nor want your advice or feedback regarding my parenting style, even if you're family. I'm making a sign for our baby shower/house that says "Please direct all advice, comments, and concerns to [DH], Director, Public Relations." It will probably have some sort of comment box underneath.
@Amber_Waves Is your MIL and my MIL somehow related? Lol. She doesn't do it anymore now that she lives across the country, but when we lived nearby she did it constantly. I had so much of her useless junk in our basement and it drove me crazy. It got to the point where she'd leave stuff with us and i would immediately take it to the Goodwill down the street.
Tonight I'm supposed to go out for a friend's birthday, she just messaged me and told me that it's starting at 9, instead of 8. I'm going to tell DH it changed to 7, and go to the movies by myself.
@Skcobb I've heard good things about the red velvet funnel cake this year. Eat some for me! (After the year of the petting zoo E. coli outbreak I retired from state fair attendance)
@babybison omg i love the sign idea!!!!!! I need to create something like this as well!!!!! If i do a comment box then it will be a open flap straight into a trash can lol. I got in a hour long discussion with my MIL about her birthing story About my SO and parenting styles that i did not care to hear!!!
@skcobb I'm kind of infuriated now that I can't have cheesecake on a stick at this very moment (or that I've never encountered cheesecake on a stick at New England fairs!).
@elcd458 I just obsessively wash my hands anytime I get within 5 feet of an animal
@leilagphillips aside from the Texas state fair, the North Carolina fair is one of the biggest in the country. And we have the best food. i.e. cheesecake factory cheesecake on a stick and dipped in chocolate. Ahhhmazing
@skcobb We've got the Big E, which while not as big as the ones you mentioned, is quite large and has a ton of super delicious, super unhealthy food, but they seemed to miss the cheesecake on a stick memo!
@leilagphillips My GD test was originally scheduled for the morning after I was going to the Big E this year. I moved the test 2 days later so I could eat all the food without the guilt!
Mmmm fair food. The Phoenix fair is here- but I might wait a few more weeks for the temp to hopefully drop.
And my MIL is the same way. Luckily we live across the country now as she is downsizing! When we were moving from the East coast she saw some of our “get rid of” pile and started pulling stuff out claiming we couldn’t get rid of items becaus they were “Xmas gifts” etc from her.... She gives us each over 50 gifts every year. We can’t keep EVERY gift she’s ever given us - - especially when moving across the country with limited space in a moving truck.Lol. We put them back in the pile after she left. (Nothing sentimental- like literally a cup, a plastic santa etc) haha
I just ordered Domino's for lunch and I may have ordered a medium pizza AND chicken alfredo... AND I ate 4 pieces of pizza... Lol. I had to stop there. At least I'll have leftovers for lunch on Monday at work.
Not really a confession, but work is totally sucking the life out of me this week. And my MIL is coming to stay with us tomorrow (luckily, just for a night), so my weekend is shot. I need a day to myself to just relax, sleep, watch TV and read, but I don't want to spend any of my sacred PTO. Ugh.
My confession: Sometimes I'm glad that my MIL is a complete mental case and DH has completely cut her off, because figuring out a visiting schedule and what to do for the holidays would be yet one more logistical nightmare with baby arriving in early December. I feel like I dodged a bullet, especially reading the MIL stories here and in my FB groups.
FFFC:: I am theRealLifeSnooki.... I'm sad i was only able to troll for like, a day or two. Idk what happened but all commenting was shut off for me. I wasn't flagged or notified in any way and i even attempted to reach out to admins asking what happened and they never responded. It was like a silent shut down, it was super weird....i didn't confess earlier because I kept logging on periodically to see if they let me comment again but it never let me. Anyway... my plan was originally just to troll through the next few months until we all had our babies.. cuz seriously this thread has 0 drama, which is good but it means you gotta lurk for some entertainment in other BMBs.
Also, im pretty sure i just ate 1000 calories of peanut butter off a spoon... and i have no regrets giving into that craving.
So my statement after reading these MIL comments is that my mom is the one that would pull most of these moves!! She feels sentimental attachment to the craziest things... it's out of control! I hate to tell her where/who anything came from because she'd never let us get rid of it!
@djd0404 Oh I wish. One poster said there was a no flu shot/no visit policy in her hospital's L&D and I called immediately to see if that was the case for mine to keep her away. It's not. le sigh.
@ameliabedelia-2 What was mysterious is the Snooki troll showed up, posted a few ridiculous things, and then suddenly no one could see posts from her anymore, but she would still show up as the most recent poster in various threads. None of us had ever seen that before, admin would send a warning if she got reported and after however many she'd be banned, not made invisible.
Except now we know she wasn't an actual troll, just @eazybreezy225 spicing up our lives! Lol.
I like crunchy peanut butter even though I just ranted about nuts in food yesterday. I completely forgot I liked it until my husband made me a sandwich with it
My confession - I have gained an embarrassing amount of weight this pregnancy. I lost 50 pounds before getting pregnant so I may have used that as my get out of jail free card to eat as I please. I do kind of feel like I’m the size of a house, but whatever. I’ll lose it later. When I see all you ladies talking about your 15 pounds gained I do want to cry a little, haha.

@ktcakes87 I think the only reason I've had a small weight gain so far is because I spend at least half my life sleeping. You can't eat if you aren't awake! I'm just at 29 weeks though, so there's still time...
@ktcakes87 I've gained A LOT too. Wayyyy more than 15 pounds... I know some of that is because I'm having twins, but I'm pretty sure another part is just because I've been eating too much / not exercising enough (really at all). So far my doctors haven't said anything about my weight, so I guess it's not toooo bad, but I'm definitely worried about how difficult it's going to be to lose it once they're born. Hoping breastfeeding is as effective a weight loss tool as people have told me, since I'll be doing it times two!
Well, @ktcakes87@leilagphillips I'm super self conscious when people say I'm small to be carrying twins. Especially when I still have nausea so I can't eat very much some days. Plus, my babies are small so I wish I could eat more. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow and I've gained 22 pounds so far. IDK if that's good or not, but I want my babies to grow!
@clovelyone I actually started showing pretty late and even now my bump doesn't appear to be THAT big. I think I look more like I'm carrying one than two, so I worry a little about where the weight is going exactly... I know you are doing everything you can to take care of and grow your babies, especially since the nausea is totally out of your control. I've seen some women on here suggest drinking Ensure to women who are having trouble gaining weight. Have you given that a try? Or maybe try eating some of those high protein, high-calorie energy bars?
