Cervix check

Anyone have their first cervix check yet. Mine is today at 36 weeks excited to see if anything has happened yet did have some cramping Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

I had one in triage a couple weeks ago, was 1-2 at that point. Some doctors do them while others don't because it's not a clear indication of labor starting unless there is a progression since you could walk around 3-4cm dilated for weeks.

I haven't had one yet. I was in triage last week for some blood work issues and the midwife randomly offered me one? It was awkward as she told me I was discharged and then asked if I wanted a cervical check. I passed

I get mine at 36 as well. Said they'll do the group b swap and then check my cervix if I want. By then I'll be going every week so I assume they'll continue the checks

I have had 6 total and 5 so far this pregnancy, including two yesterday. I was annoyed with the one at the hospital considering I had one for hours earlier at the doc office and told them that... they aren't fun. Always closed, but then again *TW* they said that while I was miscarrying and bleeding so I guess they missed the small amount of dilation then... */TW

My practice doesn't check dilation. Like @MaximumEffort mentioned above, they say it's irrelevant because you can be slightly dilated for weeks, or you can be not at all dilated and still go into labor that same day. Seems exciting to get checked though! I think it would be cool to know your dilation status.

I've had two checks since I've had the feeling of fluid loss.  Both times,  cervix is closed.  I'll warn you,  it's a ways in there.

I got checked at 32 weeks due to the baby 'dropping' already and my history with preterm labor. It's super uncomfortable. My ultrasound today showed still closed up at 34 weeks.

Yeah I'm very glad I have only had one cervix check. I forgot how awful they are. Hopefully no more until I get much closer.

I had my first cervical check today at 36w4d and so far I havent dilated any but my cervix is soft

I'm not looking forward to these. I have a big ring of scar tissue on my cervix from a precious LEEP. My old OB mentioned it may prevent dilation and need to be broken up or it may be nothing. Hopefully after all the IF procedures I've had up there the last year, it's all good

I can elect out of cervical checks which I didn’t. I find them pointless.

Had my first cervical check today. 36 weeks 3 days an no dialation yet. I’m not surprised!

I had one done last week at 36. She described it as a tunnel.  3cm on the outside and a 'loose 1' inside. Tomorrow is my 37 week check, different midwife, she may check and may do a sweep as well. Last time I was 3cm for a week before giving birth.

I had my cervix checked at my appointment today, completely closed! Not surprised, only 35w4d. It was a bit a pressure, but not too bad. While in labor, I plan to request minimal cervical checks though.

Had my first check today, 36 weeks exactly, and I was super surprised to hear I am already 3 cm! I was only 3 cm when my water broke with my last, I didn’t dialated well with either of my previous children and had to get pitocin in labor. Hopefully that means this little guy is getting ready to get out because I definitely am ready for him to lol

I'm 36w2d and I had my 2nd check today. I had the first 2 weeks ago when my doc did the GBS test (negative) and no dilation. Today, he said I was at 1 cm. I was surprised, but he said it wasn't thinning.

Had my second check on 10/19 was still two cm dialated which didn't suprise me that's how it was with my first walked around for few weeks with no change and then right after my 39 week appt went into labor. She wants to discuss if I'd like to schedule an induction date or continue to wait it out which i am going to choose to do because this little one isn't due till Nov 9th and like I said my first daughter didn't come till few days after 39 weeks so I see no point in an induction she will come when she is ready. I think she just knows I'm in a lot of pain this time around and maybe is just trying to give me another option not sure why she really wants to discuss induction.

Yay I can finally reply again! @NYTino24 I've been ok! Just been trying to get things in order now that I'm not working. I check the board every couple days but don't post much because I feel like I've receded into lurker status.

Had my first check yesterday at 37w 3d and I was 1cm but still long! Totally fine with that because I didn't dialate at all until I was induced with my son!

Had mine last week! dilated to a 1 and my cervix is very shallow and low.

Last check was Thursday 10/26 I moved up to 3 cm next check is this Thursday 11/2 hoping to be even more ill be 39 weeks and that's right around the time my first daughter came. My doctor doesn't want me to go more than a week past my due date babygirl isn't due till the 9th but I believe I will go on my own close to that day like I did with my first she came 6 hours before her due date.

I am 1cm today at 36+2! I was beyond surprised by that.

37+2, at 2 cm today. Dr. said if he had to guess, he'd say about 10 more days! Eek!  It's crazy to be thinking days now instead of weeks.

Just had mine checked and it is high and firm, but opening slightly. Not enough to call dilating, but still noticeable. I'm scheduled for a repeat c-section, but with DS1 I went into labor a week early. DS2 probably would have stayed in there until he was 18. I kind of have a feeling I might not make it to my scheduled day.

Got checked again yesterday and only 1.5 cm but cervix is getting shorter! It could still be weeks and I'm fine with that but just knowing that something is happening makes me feel better

38w4d still 1 cm dilated no progression form last week. I'm due next Friday...guess I better start doing some squats and walking some stairs

I had my first cervical check today at 37 weeks. Didn’t realize it would be so uncomfortable, I tried to relax but kept tensing up at the pressure. Hopefully I do better in labor than I did today. Only 1 cm but there is some softening

39+4 today...cervix checked again..still only 1cm dilated and 40% efacement. Induction scheduled for next Wednesday. I will be admitted Tuesday evening to start medication to soften/ripen cervix

39+5 her due date is here in two days think she's being stubborn. I have an appointment tomorrow morning so we shall see what my doctor wants to do. Last check up I was 3 cm stretching to 4 and that was almost a week ago she may want to strip my membranes and try that or go ahead and schedule an induction date as I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday 11/9 (her due date). Wanting the ball to start rolling so I can meet our second daughter and get back home to our first and start to settle as a mom of two.

Went in today for my 39+6 day appt babygirl is due tomorrow. As i was sitting there waiting for doctor to come in for cervix check contractions started. They have stuck around all day and even got around 9 mins apart now they have died off I was told as soon as I see a rythem to them to head in because this is my second and I'm already 4cm and 80% effaced. Really hoping that they pick back up tonight and we head in or early morning if nothing I go back on Monday for testing to check fluid levels and make sure baby is doing well and most likely schedule induction really hope she stops being so stubborn and starts the ball rolling again.

37 weeks & 1 day this past Tuesday I was 1cm & 50% effaced. I have been drinking Rasberry red leaf tea and vaginaly inserting EPO most nights. Dr. Stripped my membrane I felt lots of contractions and baby dropped. Hoping next Tuesday’s appointment I have more dialation and effacement so we can meet our sweet boy.

37+1 yesterday i was 0 dilated but she said my cervix was soft and thin. Whomp whomp. Atleast i have a date scheduled if there isn’t much change

They will strip your membranes at 37 weeks? What is pro?

@brandidodds1982 I’m guessing you meant what is EPO? It’s evening primrose oil. It’s a vitamin that you can take orally or as a vaginal suppository that is believed to help soften and thin the cervix to get ready for labor. They don’t recommend it before 37-38 weeks though

You can get it at a health food store or Wal-Mart or target. CVS does not sell EPO. It works as a prostiglandins, what's released when your membranes are stripped or you have sex, it softens the cervix but will not cause contractions.
