Please let me know your honest thoughts on the name Remi. DS is Reid and we are expecting #2 (a boy) in january - Remi seems to be our current front runner.

Re: Thoughts on the name Remi?

  • Not a fan. It's screams gun toting red neck to me.

I love Rory which is kinda similar in feel

  • Not a fan. I agree it’s a bit redneck, but I can get over Remington nn Remy. But with an “I” ending and all the people who have now named girls Remy/Remington, it also now is super trendy

  • Thanks ladies - these were the exact comments I was expecting to hear so you’ve definitely confirmed my concerns. Thanks for the honesty!

  • Remy is one of my guilty pleasure names for a boy  that I could never pull the trigger on. I don't like the trend of Remi girls.
  • Remy should only be spelled with a y.

And is the name of the hottest X-Men, so I love it even though some trashy people use it as a nn for Remington

  • Save Remi for the dog.

  • I like Remy with a Y

  • If you choose it, go with Remy. Remi is all girl to me.

I actually do not find it redneck. I like it but it reminds me of the old rapper Remi Ma, and thats why i would avoid it.

    But its still cute.

ETA- just noticed you said Boy. I definitely find it a girl name.

  • I like Remy and don't think it's redneck at all. I do not like the Remi spelling though.

  • Remy is adorable. Go for it!
I don't find it redneck at all and it goes good.
  • With Remi, all I can think of is the movie Ratatouille. How about:

    Neil
    Grant
    Eli
    Ian
    Finn
    Noel
    Pierce
    Sam
    Luke

  • Interesting comments about the Y spelling...I’ve only ever met one Remi/Remy in my entire life and he spelt it with an I so I guess that’s where I got the spelling from.

I also had no idea it had become such a popular girl’s name.

I really appreciate everyone’s comments and other suggestions! Keep them coming!

@cantrellja I love the name Pierce and think it goes so nicely with Reid but I can’t get DH on board with it.

  • My oldest two boys are Reed and Pierce.  Our youngest DS is Grant.  So maybe you would like Grant?
  • I like Remy for a boy but only spelled with a "y". It isn't on my short list, but it is on my medium list.
