I freaking hate when women refer to other women as "mommies." It sounds so infantile and reduces our identities down to ONLY being a mother. Like when someone starts a post saying "hey mommies!" Or "I just want opinions from other mommies on this."
This opinion has been recently challenged a bit since Lucas got his clumsy hands off of Star Wars and the movie quality has vastly improved, but I stand by it!

Just no. No no no.
I feel that way when anyone over the age of 14 calls their dad daddy. Makes me grossed out for some reason. I think because daddy has been so disgustingly sexualized I can’t handle it.

This! Also, I really dislike when people refer to women as girls. You rarely hear men beong referred to as boys, why do people feel like referring to women as girls boggles my mind!
NOTD makes me uncomfortable. I always feel the line is too thin between special snowflakes and ethnic/cultural/religious name that making fun of is freaking inappropriate!
Why does every question belong in the weekly question board? I think the way TB is set up that you can't reply to a question/statement like Facebook makes it hard to read and follow. And annoying to follow. By making your own post with your question it's easier to follow and reply. And if the question is uninspiring it disappears in a day or two to the later pages.

I have never had a question go unanswered in the questions thread. If you counted up how many questions are asked each week and made individual threads for them the board would be a mess. I already have a hard time finding threads on the board. With that said, I don't think every question HAS to go there. If you are a contributing member then I say just use your best judgement. If you think a question is relevant enough to the entire group for it's own thread then I say go for it.

I don't think every question has to go in the question thread. For instance, I didn't hate the maternity clothes vs. bigger clothes thread the other day. It could be useful to lots of people on our board so whatever, that's fine.
What is suuuuuper annoying are the one-off questions from posters that have clearly spent zero time looking through our board and virtually never come back to acknowledge the responses they've received. Like the "are you showing?" thread from yesterday. There was literally a thread started hours earlier with at least a dozen pictures illustrating whether or not we're showing. To me that's just annoying. Spend three seconds looking through the board and BAM, question answered. It's not that hard.
@kmalls I agree that once in a while there are those few like the are you showing yet that us obvious that they haven't been around long and haven't seen HDBD.
But what really annoys me is when some lady asks a question and the first response she gets is put this in the questions board. Just let the lady ask her question and not be hassled. Most of the questions do help other ladies and there are always great input.
@Dumbgurl04 haha, I despise anything Star Wars/Star Trek!!! And on that note, anything Harry Potter, LOTR, etc.
*picks up jaw from floor* Hi, I'm Katy, and I'm a fantasy junkie. It may even be a disease. I've been waiting not so patiently for the newest Brandon Sanderson novel to come out... and I've reread both of those series you mentioned above almost yearly, along with many others. HOW CAN YOU DESPISE THEIR FABULOUSNESS!?
I'VE GOT TO LEARN HOW TO GIF!!! JUST FOR THIS MOMENT!!
Also, unrelated, @toorahloorah, I'm definitely shamelessly guilty there too.
Ok, I guess this is an UO: The argument about board structure is old, tired, and boring. Should we argue about the sky? Gravity? Or hey, we can always go to the tired and true arguments like formula vs breast?
The arguments don't change. The structure is not going to change considering it's on every month group and every board on the site.
@sunshinedays-2 His newest Stormlight Archives book, Oathbringer, is being released in a MONTH and I keep rereading the first two. I seriously cannot wait.
I'm "rereading" Harry Potter in a very loose sense right now ... I'm doing a chapter a week of the Illustrated version with my newly made kindergartener. She's really had fun with it too, which is awesome!

****stuck in the damn box!!****
@Sissy42 I cannot wait until DS is old enough for Harry Potter. He will only be 3 this February and it would go waaaay over his head right now (not to mention he can't sit still for more than a few minutes at s time), but the second he's ready it will be GLORIOUS.

@luna8433 I guess I'd argue that "some lady" asking a one-off question is more than likely never going to come back. I'd rather direct her to the questions thread than spend time on a thoughtful answer that she'll never acknowledge OR reciprocate.
also totally agree @kmalls about reading Harry Potter with DD when she gets older. Although right now she is very much into Star Wars, DH loves that because he told me before we ever had kids that was one thing he was really looking forward to was sharing his major love for Star Wars with his kids.
@ngolimento I am sure to those who are Bump vets it would get super annoying to see the same debate on every thread. However most in this board are new to the Bump world and are still learning the functions.
I like how @kmalls phrased it. If it helps the overall board ask it. If it is a personal, specific to me it goes in weekly questions.
Edited to add tags: @luna8433@kmalls@JJMNO1616@ngolimento@angiek1 RE: Questions. Yes, some questions, especially by regs, are fine for their own thread, but just think for a second about the majority of questions on the questions threads - they have already been answered a dozen times, or could be easily answered with a Google search. If each of those people felt empowered to start her own thread? It would be a complete disaster for the board. Have you ever looked at the 1st Tri board or any other unorganized board? The organization is what makes it possible for us to develop a community here, and that's why I'm here. So, I will continue to protect the organization.
Furthermore, the part that truly irks me is that most of the time when someone posts a one-off question thread, she hasn't bothered to read through our board at all. If she had, she would have seen the *Read This First* and Weekly Questions and all the rest. Is she can't be bothered to invest that small out of time in our community, then why should any of us invest our time back to her? We aren't a question answering service and we aren't Google, we are a community of ladies supporting each other. IF a new lady wants to join us, she's welcome, but she has to make the effort to join us.

Personally, I also think it depends on WHO is asking the question. Have you been around for a while and have given it thought about whether this is a question that everyone can benefit from on its own separate thread? Yes. Okay, cool proceed. @angiek1 I would agree it is a reg issue if we hadn't fought on this very board about it at least 5 to 6 times already. Every couple of weeks someone goes "boohoo I hate organization, it stifles my ability to read/enjoy life/realize my potential" and then everyone who has seen a free for all board goes "Uh, no, you are crazy".
Same arguments, same drama, same POVs every single time.
The old Bump was never like this. Something significant has changed since three years ago. I never before saw anyone on TB whine about letting drive bys have their glory day in the sun will nilly, or whine about having to *gasp* read to keep up with an effing FORUM. It's really seriously annoying. I honestly don't understand it. If you don't like reading, then don't, man.
ETA: I am using the general plural "you" here. I am too lazy to stalk your posting history and see your historical views on the subject.

YES, this is exactly my feelings on it... like the thread that was created asking about bigger clothes vs maternity clothes. Ok, i'll admit it turned into a conversation other people were interested enough to chime in on but where did the OP go?! She hasn't come back and made a single comment on the thread after people went out of their way to share their helpful advice. It was also her very first post ever! For those reasons, I don't feel bad for directing her to the Questions thread.

@lund no need to be passive aggressive. It's almost as though you don't like people who do 't agree with you.
The last time I was on a BMB, it was different. I preferred it, and clearly so do some of the other women. Clearly, we aren't going to change the board organization, but to tell us our opinions are wrong (which is pretty much what you are doing) is just rude.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me. You made my wedding day complete.

It's almost like you don't pay attention to what goes on here. Oh wait...
My point being that this has been discussed ad nauseam, not that your opinion is wrong. Don't put words in my mouth. And, FFFC is never guaranteed to be flame free.
@lund 1) Trying to save us some typing? Telling us it's not worth discussing? Feels like you're trying to shut us up. We are allowed to have opinions. They may be not be popular but it's our right to express them. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I don't pay attention. I'm not trying to put words In your mouth but you get what you give - so if you don't want words put in your mouth, you would do well to not make assumptions about others.
