Abby Lee is not a horrible dance teacher... Those mom's are terrible and have no concept of how the dance world actually works. It's a huge part of why Maddie is so successful at such a young age, while the rest of them are not. They don't put as much into it, but still want the same results.

Yup! I loved it when I had a bump, but without I feel like I'm just trying to show off a regular stomach haha... I guess it could be the "before" and the goal after birth

I hate to get into politics on here bc I'm sure I won't make friends. But I am soooooo over the excuses on gun control. People kill people, but they kill a hell of a lot more with a semi-automatic weapon. NO civilian needs a gun like that on hand. Period.
I don't participate in HDBD because I am not sure I want to show my face on here yet, but am not savvy enough to know how to blur it out or put something over it haha :-p

I am not self conscious about my body, I just choose to not take photos until we are past 1st trimester. And I am more of a private person and am not sure how soon, if at all, it'll be before I start posting photos of myself on an open site like TB.
My UO for the season, I don't like The Nightmare Before Christmas. When I was in high school, our art teachers would play it nonstop all October. So I don't know if I was over exposed or if I really don't like it. I've tried it again as an adult and still don't see what all the hype is about.

@suchaglencoco reminded me of one that always gets a lot of crap from people... I hate The Princess Bride. It's so overrated, and it seriously is not funny at all.
@hollieileen except his guns weren't meant to be automatic and he modified them to be such. People are going to find a way to kill people. I honestly feel better having a gun knowing I can defend myself. Even with illegal guns, if people want them they will get them.

@charlestonchew I understand what you’re saying. I know that in this country, gun control will never be as tight as it should be. I’ve come to terms with that. My heart has hardened so much where I’m honestly not surprised when these mass shootings occur.
What i would want to see is at least the government TRYING to do something about it. All it took was one guy with a bomb in his shoes to affect the ENTIRE way we board a plane. THOUSANDS die and we just say, “blah blah blah bad people will find a way.” That’s a cop out and I think it’s because some people are so selfish in their 18th century gun rights that they could care less about the THOUSANDS of people we are losing every year to these senseless deaths.
This man bought guns legally!! I get that there were no red flags but nobody should have access to a gun that can even have the possibility of being altered to what he had during this shooting.
@charlestonchew sure if people want to use drugs they will find a way to do it, doesn't stop us from making 6849 laws, enforcing fines, jail time etc. Yet guns are different even though they kill way more people???
People can still buy guys (legally) that they have no business owning. If you have a gun to protect yourself, that's whatever. I'm not saying ALL guns should be illegal, but I'm saying we are making a whole lot of excuses. People don't need semiautomatic weapons at all. We need to do a better job making sure psychopaths don't get ANY guns. Where I live people get shot in road rage incidents on a weekly basis... people who lack self control have no business with a deadly weapon.
When planes crash, we talk about plane safety. People drown, we talk about water safety. Why are guns different? I'm sick of it.
@lincbeesmom@hollieileen I do get what you're saying and I don't think shootings should be brushed under the rug. They horrify me. But my hope is to try to tighten gun usage/purchase but also allowing citizens to be able to hunt and protect themselves. How do we do that? I'm not sure and I'm probably not smart enough to find that solution. In the recent shooting he used a modified rifle. Rifles are used for hunting. People hunt for food often. How do we keep this from happening but also allowing the citizens who don't kill people to keep their rights?
I don't think private citizens should be allowed to have guns at all - there I said it. Statistically a gun in your home is way more likely to accidentlly kill someone in your family, then it is to protect you from anything. Times have changed. The constitution was not meant to unchanged for all eternity. Buy a taser and move on.
I love Princess Bride. Never seen Nightmare Before Christmas. Waiting for an actual visible baby belly to post pictures. Don't watch Dance Moms. Grew up in a household filled with guns and hunting. Think hunting/sport guns are fine, but something DEFINITELY needs to be done about gun laws. It's way too out of hand. Mine for today, I still get super annoyed when people have "Knottie209840398slkdfw2349" as their screen name, and when people don't post here regularly but post a one-off AW question/comment, or post their picture in the US thread. I don't know who you are, why do I care to see your baby?

I actually came from a household with no guns and married into gun enthusiasts. They are huge on gun safety, learning about gun safety and the correct way to handle and use them, and have them in safes and with locks. I currently have a loaded gun with the safety on in my night stand. When my child arrives I will probably get a finger print lock box so they cannot access it. They will be taught to treat all guns as if they are loaded and be exposed to guns so they understand them and learn safety. If they want to hunt they can with my in laws (I don't hunt for moral reasons) who will teach them the correct way to do that. I feel safe with it and if someone breaks in my home, I'm not going after them with a taser.

**dirty lurker**
But what about people who hunt? Are we not allowed to hunt for food because we "shouldn't have guns at all" and obviously can't use a taser to hunt? Bows are fun, but they're not easy to hunt with. What do we use if we shouldn't own guns? Or should we just not hunt for food, because no one should own guns?
I have a concealed carry license and I do carry on my person when I'm out and definitely when I travel alone. That being said, I want them to find a way to keep these rifles and semi automatics out of people's hands that have no business having them. I don't know how to do that either. It's scary that these were legally bought weapons.
@ivyvines6 I did competitive cheerleading forever and my coaches treated me the same Abby treats her students. And that's why I was awesome and won national and world titles. You can't baby anyone in those highly competitive industries and expect greatness.
In response to the gun issue I'm conflicted... I'd hope that there will never be a time where I would need to defend myself to the point of needing to have an automatic weapon. With the way this administration is going I'm hesitant to say that I wouldn't. I literally joke with my friends daily about hoping we'll be in the same labor camp for being radical feminists... but in practice there should be zero reason for a person to need that level of fire power. I don't care about hand guns, because I know for fact that they can be kept safely out of reach of children, and your child is statistically more likely to die at a house with a swimming pool, than a house with a gun. BUT I would also never own a gun. I have depression and ptsd and the thought of having such a quick way to end my problem gives me enough reason to never own one.
Background checks and mental health checks checks should be mandatory. Period. But it doesn't stop people from owning them and having a family member with those issues using them.
What I find more deplorable is that owning a gun is a right in this country, but medical care from a gun shot wound is not a basic guarantee.
The Voice and all singing/talent shows like it are absolute garbage. 95% of the people on them won't have a singing voice by the time they hit 35 if they keep abusing their vocal cords like that. So much chesty throaty-ness. That's how you get on the fast track to vocal nodules.
*ducks*
Also I'm sorry if I accidentally hit the report button on someone's post when I was scrolling. I don't think I did, but if I did I'm sorry!!!
Princess Bride is awesome! I can quote almost the whole movie. Nightmare Before Christmas - eh, not a huge fan. Maybe because it creeped me out as a kid. I took weekly photos last pregnancy. I've only taken 1 this pregnancy. Maybe the first-time magic is gone, or maybe the effort to make myself look pretty (in my eyes) is too much with a toddler lol. People kill people, not guns. I have a handgun in my closet (way out of DD's reach) as a safety measure and I personally feel safer knowing there are people with conceal-carry permits out there.
My UO - going to the movies is overrated. I have to sit in the last few rows or I get motion sick. The smell of old popcorn makes me nauseous even when I'm not pregnant. The chairs are generally uncomfortable. You can't pause the movie if you have to pee. And by the time you buy tickets, drinks, and popcorn, you could spend the same amount of money on a nice dinner. I do still go to the movies on occasion, but only if it's something I MUST see (like Star Wars).
I feel like the reasoning "people will find a way around the laws if they want to, so why bother" is flawed. Even if those laws prevent a handful of events like this last weekend from happening, it would be worth it to me. I don't think that all guns should be banned, but there should be a lot more regulations in place. As a teacher, it sickens me that we have to practice active shooter drills now.
Man I so badly want to jump in on the gun control debate but I know I have an extreme, unrealistic stance of wanting all guns gone. Ugh I've already said too much.
My UO is that I hate putting my daughter in frilly, girly clothes. Why does a baby need to have puffy shoulders or scalloped hems?
I haven't posted in HDBD because I don't have a bump, I'm just fat lol I'll get over there eventually. I love princess bride. I used to have a Jack Skellinton hoodie that I wore all the time for years, but it's because it was halloweenie, not because it was Nighmare before Christmas,I never really got the movie. I haven't watched any of the singing shows in years, they're all annoying. The only good part was the terrible american idol auditions back in the beginning (before people were using them for their 15 mins) Never seen dance moms, but I've seen enough gifs of the instructor to know that I hate her lol. I grew up in a gun owning, hunting, former military family and I started learning gun safety through a bb/pellet gun when I was 5 y/o. My son is starting later than I did, but has been told about it for a long time. He just hasn't actually handled one yet (mostly because my ex is insane and I don't feel like dealing with his crap yet) I do think that the process for owning needs to be reviewed, but the thing is, if someone wants to kill someone, they're going to find a way. And I know, a knife isn't going to be able to take out 100's of people like a gun can. But you know what? There was no gun used in Boston....... sick people will sadly find a way. I feel better knowing that I would be able to protect myself and my family.
Princess @Poppy0419 I wanted to get a carry license (didn't even have to be concealed carry) when I was in college because of where I worked and the fact that I was 20 minutes from anyone and ended up not having radio signal to call my rangers and had a drunk armed man trying to break into my building while screaming that he knew i was in there and I better let him in or else. That was a terrifying 45 minutes. Because my state makes it nearly impossible even after being a victim of a violent crime (which mine obviously didn't fall into, thank God) I ended up leaving a huge butcher knife under the counter of my register when I worked nights. The great thing was, I worked for a state park, we couldn't even go through them for certification. crazy... On the cheerleading note, did you ever see the video of the girl at cheer camp being forced into a split a couple months ago? I would have lost my freaking mind if that had been my kid. Last I heard, she was still in physical therapy because of the tearing it caused.

Hang on - you like hunting with guns because they are easy to kill with - and you see no irony there?!?
I think the lives of innocent people are more valuable then your enjoyment of sport killing. And if you are really in it for the meat, learn how to use that bow.

Don't get me started on that coach... It's the 21st century and we know far better ways to teach kids how to stretch. You could get away with this with a five-seven year old (I would never do that, for clarification) because their muscles and tendons haven't fully developed at that point and they're more malleable around that age, than a preteen/teenager are. Becoming a dancer or an athlete requires tremendous amounts of SELF discipline, and it's on the student to get themselves to that point. In my classes I provide the framework with guided stretches, and may correct form, but it's not part of my job description to make flat splits happen.
Untrained citizens with guns (and concealed/carry permits) pose a bigger risk. You are no longer the "good guy with a gun" you (general you) are now an idiot with a gun. And, lets make silencers easier to get so people can't even hear the gunshots coming at them. Sound logic. /sarcasm

@hollieileen@ivyvines6 yes! That goes in the same category for me as taking a pro-life stance, but not wanting the help the mother/baby once the child is born.
