Okay, this week I'm inspired by the same flipping commercial I keep seeing over and over lately, I have no idea what it's for but she recites the rules of her "she-shed" or whatever, and one of them is "no bras allowed."
My UO: I like wearing a bra. And pants. Bras make the girls feel supported and keep my nips from being irritated by my shirt, and pants.... why would I want to walk around in my underwear? I love pants! I stay fully dressed until it's time to get in bed, and I really and truly don't understand the "I take off my bra & pants the second I get home" sentiment. Am I completely alone in this?
@djd0404 I used to be firmly in the camp of no bra is better, buuut that was before my boobs grew and my belly grew and now my boobs rest on my belly in certain positions (still not big enough to do it when I'm sitting straight up) and I really don't like that feeling, lol. As for pants, I'm a huge fan of not wearing pants in bed, but lounging around at home, I prefer just comfy pants/shorts to no pants at all, I think.
My UO - I love my life! I constantly see messages of people hating being married or having kids or wanting to escape their life. That is not me. I love being with my husband and my son. They each have their moments but I don't get "sick" of them like most seem to. I am genuinely happy with my home, my job and my family and that seems to be a rare sentiment these days!
My UO (although in my sheltered post-election world where I've unfriended a lot of people, it's not unpopular, lol) is that I'm all for the national anthem protests.
My UO (although in my sheltered post-election world where I've unfriended a lot of people, it's not unpopular, lol) is that I'm all for the national anthem protests.
My only issue with it is that people on both sides are being stupid about it. Yes, the athletes 100% have the right to protest that way. BUT if a company decides to pull their endorsement because of it, or fans demand refunds for tickets and decide to no longer support those players and trams, that's their right, too. Both sides make me want to slap them and I really wish all the press coverage would go away. There was a mass shooting in Tennesee this week and I literally only saw someone post a local news story the day it happened. Priorities much?
My UO: I can't stand moms who insist on only healthy organic foods for their kids. Do I want my kid to eat healthy? Yes. Do I still feed them frozen chicken fingers, hot dogs, fries, etc? He'll yes. Your kid us going to eat sand on the playground, so don't obsess quite so much. Also, buying organic is literally one of the stupidest things you can do in the US. You legit just have to meet a bare minimum and then pay a huge fee to label your food organic, so it's pretty much the exact same thing, just a crap load more expensive.
At some point in the evening I'll take off my pants or change into more comfortable shorts or pajama pants. Bra stays on until bedtime though. If I'm not about to go to bed it feels weird even for my tiny As to be out and about.
@MJDsquared It is such a weeeeird feeling now for the top of my bump to touch the bottom of my boobs when I'm sitting or leaning over.
The anthem issue is such a sticky, fascinating current event. I'm going to see my grandpa this weekend (he's 98, served in WWII, was on Iwo Jima to see the famous flag raising, received a purple heart) and I'm really wanting to talk to him about how he sees all this. His generation I think had different ideas about patriotism - why, how, what - a different perspective I would love to discuss with him!

I love bras and pants and clothes for everyone all. the. time. It really bothers me when parents show me pictures of their kids without clothes on. To each his own about going au naturel, but I don't want to see it.
My UO is that I'm already so over the "you've seen elf on a shelf, now get ready for (stupid thing on another stupid thing that rhymes with the first stupid thing)" meme. One of my facebook friends reshares EVERY variant of this that she comes across and even though I love her as a fellow human I am considering blocking her for awhile until this internet fad is over.
DH, however, finds them hilarious... which I why I suspect this is an UO-appropriate rant.
When I get home I usually change into a comfy cotton sports bra. My boobs are far too large to be bra free unless I am just lounging in bed. If I was petite with perky tiny boobs I would probably never wear a bra, haha. I never wear real pants, leggings all day every day.

@ktcakes87 I would probably be #teamleggings if I wasn't allergic to wearing them too long. I get a rash on my upper legs/thighs and it's super uncomfortable. Really bums me out. I still own several pairs of lularoe because I love how soft they are, but I rarely wear them.
@Skcobb I'm with you on the organic food thing. It always makes me wonder if moms who can't afford it feel worse about themselves in comparison, too. Just wash your fruits and veggies! It'll be okay! Then again IMO (or, y'know, science's opinion) the whole anti-GMO crusade is such a huge load of steaming feces anyway that I just can't even go there.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of feeding children healthy choices from a young age. I was basically weaned on soda and chips and was a full-fledged adult before I trained myself to not only tolerate but actually enjoy fresh healthy foods, and I don't want that for my kiddos. But they will discover in the process that the 60-cent pesticide bananas taste a lot like the 99-cent Whole Foods bananas.
@elcd458 I agree 100%. I just don't freak out if I realize I'm out of fruit all of the sudden, or don't have a healthy lunch option. Hot dogs it is! Can guacamole count as a veggie? DD will eat that on anything lol
@Skcobb guac definitely counts as a veggie! When I was pregnant with DS I was obsessed with organic everything... Now we have hot dogs once a week, hell this week 'Kraft Dinner & weiners' was on my actual meal plan. I am also on team bra, though most summer days it is a flimsy sports bra from Ardene or Walmart, but a bra none the less.
@djd0404 I would cry every day if I was allergic to leggings! I just bought my first pair of LLR leggings since they came out with the TC2 and I love them! I just ordered a Halloween pair. I am worried they will wear out way too fast, but they are oh so soft.

ehhhhh. i feel like you are taking this too personally. you can feed your kids whatever you want. so can someone else. what someone else chooses as their hill to die on does not affect you.
i am with you, though, if said person just won't SHUT UP with the lecturing and unasked-for advice regarding healthy and organic food. you feed your kid, i'll feed mine, and unless it's legit poisonous then please don't share your thoughts on my choices, lol. however this goes both ways - my MIL won't shut up with criticizing me because i try to limit the sugar and food dyes that my kids eat. she thinks it's like a crime that i don't feed them popsicles and fruit snacks every day. yet another case of taking my own decisions as criticism of her own - which is silly. she legit ranted at me the other day that sugar-free popsicles are evil (OK? random?) and there is nothing wrong with all the food we children of the 80's grew up eating.

@anewadventure where I live, there are so many people who feel like they need to comment on your shopping cart, or your choice at a restaurant. I've regularly had mom friends make snide comments to me about what I feed my kid (and she eats super healthy 95% of the time), so it's probably just because it's literally everywhere. Believe me, when it's a weekly thing (and you're hormonal lol) it gets really old really fast.
@anewadventure where I live, there are so many people who feel like they need to comment on your shopping cart, or your choice at a restaurant. snip
REALLY??? Holy shit. A lot of times when people make snide comments if you play dumb and keep asking them to explain they'll eventually back themselves into a corner that makes them acknowledge they're actually being a dick.
I feel you though. Sometimes people - even in our close circles - can be noxious and it sucks because we just have to find a way to ignore it or shake it off for the sake of peace.

Whole Foods is overrated. The quality of the produce is the same as the other grocery stores near me except that at WF, the prices are jacked up. The flowers are shitty too and I can honestly say that I've never had anything there that I've been like "omg I can't get this anywhere else."

Some background info on my UO this week: a local hospital was in the news last week for their policy on not allowing siblings/relatives/visitors < 12 y.o. in the labor or postpartum units during cold and flu season (not new information, they do this every year). My UO is that I LOVE THIS POLICY and wish my hospital had it (as of right now I think they only have it as a NICU rule at mine). They interviewed a woman who was like 36 weeks pregnant and trying to find a new OB essentially because she wants a picture of her other kid meeting the new baby in a hospital room setting. Also that somehow her argument was more valid than someone else's because they went through IVF to conceive this child so her firstborn somehow was more deserving to meet the new baby while still in the hospital.
You know someone like this would be the first to file a lawsuit if her kid got RSV or something from the hospital! I know it's a stereotypical rite of passage type moment, but it will still be special no matter the actual location of the initial sibling meet-and-greet (and even then, probably only special to you, mom, since sibling will barely remember it at all if they are less than 4 or so years old). People on FB a were like "What am I supposed to do with my other kids while I'm in the hospital if they can't be there with me the whole time?" Uhhhh pretty sure you've had 8 or 9 months to figure that out, not to mention I don't think that's ever allowed anyway?
@elcd458 Are you in NC?? Because that's totally a story out of the hospital I delivered DD at. I understand the policy, but it is kind of irritating that DD won't be able to come see her sister, and we'll have to make sure there are enough people around to actually watch her since she can't come when family will be with us
With being on bed rest, I get up and get ready each morning and I put a bra on and come downstairs to work while on the couch. Besides going to the bathroom or getting meals ready, walking to the mailbox around 11am is the one chance I have at getting out of the house. Once I do that, my bra comes off for the rest of the day.
Even before bed rest, I would always take my bra off as soon as I got home from work. I could never imagine sleeping in one, either.

@Skcobb As soon as I posted that, I remembered you were local to me and I got paranoid and had to be like "Oh yeah, she's due in December, the lady on the news cannot possibly be @Skcobb"
For the whole protesting thing, I believe in the right to protest whatever you want (regardless of my own views on the topic). What really blows is that now you can't even watch sports without getting political bullshit shoved down your throat. Is nothing sacred anymore? I feel like the options for not seeing a political story/update are limited now to HGTV and maybe Food Network? Ugh.
On the topic of organic foods, I am part of a facebook group for Wholistic Parenting. It's the most sanctimonious group of jackasses in the world. I stay on the page because occasionally people have questions that I am interested in learning about, but yesterday someone posted this ridiculousness, I couldn't roll my eyes any harder......
So I bought a loaf of regular whole wheat sandwich bread from Wegmans a week ago and have just felt like garbage lately. It's totally the bread isn't it? I'm not GF just usually buy organic but too expensive for my liking. Why is eating and feeling good so freaking expensive. I feel like I have to choose eating healthy and way less than I want to and same with my family, or I can buy traditional but not too processed and make a feast that seems healthy to regular folks, but makes us feel like crap. It's not fair. I'm just cranky from my GMO wheat bread; please excuse my rant.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
Team no bra/pants while at home. H and I were just talking about this last night, that I'm going to have to start wearing clothes more often once LO is here. More often than not I just walk around the house in my underwear. Sometimes I throw on a top, but I am definitely usually pants-free. That will be a difficult adjustment.
On the National Anthem debate. I have such a hard time with this, especially because I live in the south where so many people hide their bigotry behind patriotism or religion. I understand why people are up in arms when the players sit. I believe they have the right to do that, and I also believe advertisers or fans have the right to drop them. I don't understand why they get the same anger when they kneel. Spouses kneel to propose. Parishioners kneel to pray. To me, kneeling is still a sign of respect. It's different than standing, and for me that's where the protest comes in. They're being respectful of the flag, while also making a statement. (I will say that the "patriots" that spend the national anthem booing the sitting/kneeling players are absolutely disgusting.)
What's concerning for me is that their entire message has been lost. People on one side believe that they hate this country while people on the other are more upset by the Cheeto-in-Chief's asinine response than promoting any kind of useful dialog.
AFM - My UO is that I am sick of MLMs and truly believe that they're all a scam. There are absolutely people that have profited off of these companies, but that is not the norm and more often than not people put up a big initial investment, spend hours and hour promoting their product to friends and family, and occasionally break even.

@ameliabedelia-2 Oh no, the bread! I don't think people that extreme really understand a) what GMO's are and b) how they've helped. Norman Borlaug even won a nobel prize for basically ending a famine and saving millions of lives with his GMO wheat. I imagine nowadays there would be a group out there protesting him too.
@txmomma16, dying at cheeto-in-chief. But I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm for the protests but have been having such a hard time actually explaining why. The people who are against what's going on are very clueless about the big picture. I find it absolutely disgusting too that these same people are booing during the anthem and burning jerseys. WTF is patriotic or humane about that?

@ameliabedelia-2 one of my friends added me to a holistic mamma group on FB when we were looking for natural treatments to my daughter's eczema (didn't particularly want to go with a steroid cream on a 15 month old like my Dr suggested). I had to leave the group because I would have totally become the troll on all of the ridiculous posts lol
@djd0404 I also like a bra. I have big boobs (especially preggo), so I need the support. Now, if the bra is too small (which has happened several times this pregnancy), or tight, or uncomfortable, I want it off ASAP. But a well-fitting bra is no problem for me.
@jlemons-2 I am also anti-elf (I think there is a whole contingent of us--didn't we talk about this once before?)
As for the anthem protesting, I really don't think linking arms or kneeling during the anthem is as atrocious as some people are making it out to be, and I really really don't know why the president is getting involved in the debate or anything having to do with the NFL at all except as a national distraction from more important issues (*cough* North Korea *cough*)
@elcd458 At first, I liked the no kids idea, but if the ban included my daughter, I think I would be pissed. I'll be in the hospital for 3 days most likely (c-section) and if DD didn't get to see me at all during that time and then I came home with a new baby, I don't think that would go well. She'll only be a little over 16 months when this one arrives--she doesn't understand what's coming. She's vaccinated and had a flu shot; I see no reason why she can't come visit me (and meet the baby, but really it's more about me. She's a mama's girl.)
@txmomma16 you'll have a few YEARS to adjust At first, you'll want skin to skin access, then the baby will be likely running around in only a diaper at least sometimes, so s/he won't think it's weird at all you don't have pants on.
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
@Skcobb I signed on to do an UO rant about organic/GMO/healthy food, but you beat me to it. I grew up on a family farm and I know that so much of the "Organic"/"Free Range"/"Grass Fed" labeling is nonsense. My dad started raising turkeys a few years ago and was looking into what he needed to do to market them as "Free Range" in our state. The answer? The turkeys have to be able to "see light". It has nothing to do with how much room they have, or access to outdoors, or anything. But people are paying so much more for these labels!
I try to feed my daughter healthy foods, because like many in my generation, I was raised on lunchables, capri suns, chips, etc and had to teach myself, as an adult, how to eat a more balanced diet. So I do try to offer her whole foods and lots of variety. But she also has frozen chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and icecream. She ate a dandelion on a walk yesterday, so there's only so much I can do.
@cait5413 I agree. The most irritating part about this protesting is Trump's comments about it. They have the right to protest as much as anyone else. He's the worst.
@djd0404 I used to not be the "take my bra off as soon as I get home" type, but this pregnancy has me taking it off right away. Am I the only one that has the underwire digging into my bump whenever I sit down. I am so uncomfortable.
The second I get home from work, I throw on a cotton bralette, a t-shirt/cardigan wrap, comfy leggings and my slippers. I can't stand nightgowns- give me all the soft comfy lounge pants!
I dont wear a bra or pants at home either. Ill get dressed to go anywhere but it comes off when i come home. I am just more comfortable and less hot that way. Just a tank top and undies but that will change when babe is here and i have family helping out but once its just me and SO then it'll be back to how i am now.
For the organic eating i Dont ubderstabd the whole fad. If you can afford it and enjoy it then more power to ya but i just usually eat what we can afford and limit how much we eat of whatever it is we can get. I try to cook healthy stuff much as i can but i just dont see spending 3/4x times more money for the same thing as long as you wash stuff which i do anyway. Just seems like its a waste to me.
The protesting i am all for it and love their effort. Trumps statements have made this sooo much worse than it was. There is much bigger things going on in the world that we SHOULD be paying attention to then this stupid protest!!!
@kaylawing I haven't worn a bra with an underwire in it pretty much since my first month of pregnancy. I have largish boobs (not ginormous, but towards the upper end of the "normal" size scale), so I fit right into the nursing/sleeping bra sizes. Switched then and never looked back. In fact, I may never go back to underwires... the feeling of being brutally stabbed in the side-boob when the wire breaks is something I would happily go the rest of my life never feeling again.
@txmomma16 Omg, MLM's!! They get alllll the side-eye from me. My anti-vax coworker is also an MLM nut, she has one main one and has dabbled in others, and I've had to block so many invites from her on FB because leave me alone. I "like" anti-MLM posts all the time and I'm sure it drives her crazy, but she just won't quit.
@peachy13 My good friend calls him Dorito-Mussolini. I think they both apply.
@djd0404 Ugh! I have two ladies I'm "couple friends" with that are always HARDCORE going into one or another. It's the "BEST thing they've ever done" and then several months later they're on to their new MLM. It's so frustrating and I worry for them and their young families.

i am with you, though, if said person just won't SHUT UP with the lecturing and unasked-for advice regarding healthy and organic food. you feed your kid, i'll feed mine, and unless it's legit poisonous then please don't share your thoughts on my choices, lol. however this goes both ways - my MIL won't shut up with criticizing me because i try to limit the sugar and food dyes that my kids eat. she thinks it's like a crime that i don't feed them popsicles and fruit snacks every day. yet another case of taking my own decisions as criticism of her own - which is silly. she legit ranted at me the other day that sugar-free popsicles are evil (OK? random?) and there is nothing wrong with all the food we children of the 80's grew up eating.

I feel you though. Sometimes people - even in our close circles - can be noxious and it sucks because we just have to find a way to ignore it or shake it off for the sake of peace.

/end rant.... for now
With being on bed rest, I get up and get ready each morning and I put a bra on and come downstairs to work while on the couch.

@txmomma16 you'll have a few YEARS to adjust

Wake up- wearing night gown, clean etc all morning
Shower- then I change into my dance clothes to teach. Sports bra, underwear, Leggings and staff tshirt
Come home- switch back to a night gown.
so most of the time no bra no undies...
it has made my maternity wear super cheap since I almost never need to wear any. Lol.

@djd0404 Ugh! I have two ladies I'm "couple friends" with that are always HARDCORE going into one or another. It's the "BEST thing they've ever done" and then several months later they're on to their new MLM. It's so frustrating and I worry for them and their young families.
