Hi all! My ds is 16 week old and I am looking for sample schedules! He does have to get up at 6 M-F due to my job. I think we are going through the sleep regression as he is no longer sleeping ing through the night! Also, he is starting to roll so we had to transition from the rock n play to his crib as well as no longer swaddle. He is in a Merlin sleep suit! Thanks all.

We don't really have a schedule but more of a routine.  My little one is 3 months old so a little younger than yours.  She wakes up around 7am, takes a half-hour nap around 8-9am, another short nap around 11-12, then another short nap around 2-3pm.  She usually snoozes off and on during the afternoon and evening but we are too busy for real naps by then.  She goes to sleep for the night around 9:00.  She wakes once around 3-4am to nurse and sometimes again at 5am.  We still use the rock n play at night but I am thinking of switching to the merlin sleep suit and bassinet.

I will say that I remember my older daughter had a sleep regression at 4 months so I'm expecting that also.

  • My ds is 17 weeks now. He sleeps a lot less during the day now, compared to before as he has started rolling and I've stopped swaddling him. Thankfully the night sleep is still ok. It's just the daytime naps that dont last long. He wakes up around 7am, naps around 9-10am, then naps again around 1-2, and then around 2-3pm. The morning nap is usually for 1-2hrs, but the rest of the naps are around 30mins. He gets sleepy around 9.30-10pm so I put him to bed then. I try to feed him around that time before I put him to sleep and he sleeps through the night.

Have you tried putting him on his stomach? I've been putting my daughter on her stomach ever since she was a few weeks old. She had good head control - able to slightly lift it almost from birth - and was always on a firm surface. She slept way better that way. I think it has a similar effect to swaddling. They're not able to move their arms and legs as much and won't startle awake.

When I stated laying DD2 on her tummy she started taking a 4 hour nap almost every afternoon.

  • DS will be 16 weeks on Thursday. He generally sleeps 7:30pm to 6/7am and gets up maybe once a night once in awhile. His naps are inconsistent. Sometimes he takes 2 2-3 hour naps and sometimes he takes 4 30-40 min naps. He’s eating about 8 5oz bottles a day, baby led feeding. 1 jar of fruit mid morning. 2 bottles have oatmeal, 2 bottles have rice. He’s also on ranitidine 2x a day as he has bad reflux. He spits up quite a bit but he’s not screaming anymore, doesn’t seem to phase him actually. Gaining weight at a healthy pace.

Thanks for the recommendation @lovesclimbing! How does this work with the whole thing with SIDS with letting babies sleep on their tummies? I used to swaddle him before and it worked wonders coz he used to sleep so well, but recently he's been trying to turn and stuff, so I've stopped swaddling him.

By this age, your baby should have great head control. My daughter can lift herself up almost completely on her hands. She can move. She's even turned herself completely around in her bed!  Make sure there's no soft things in the bed, etc. and I think he'd fine. That's my opinion.

The whole back sleeping thing for SIDS doesn't make much sense to me anyway. My understanding is they could smother because they can't turn their heads or move and get away from whatever is smothering them. But, if they can't turn their heads or move, then how are they getting in a position to be smothered? Especially if you're following the rules about no soft things, etc. in the bed.  If anyone has a better explanation, feel free to share.
  • @lovesclimbing the sids risk drastically reduces by 4 months and is almost non-existent by 6 months.
