Hey guys, previously kvacmak here, changed my username because my previous one was too close to my initials/actual name and stranger danger got the best of me!
Things have been super busy at work, but now I've got a few weeks off and we're going on vacation. Below a depiction of how ready I am to take this holiday: ETA: a letter. I swear I can spell!
DD and I went to Costco and the grocery store without DH and bought ALL the things. Usually he rushes us in and out so half the time I forget things that I need that just didn't make it on my paper list, so we got to browse the aisles today. And brought home corn dogs. Haha.
@ktcakes87, @Marley629, @dkizz82 I am so surprised to see it stickied already! I thought it was going to take at least 3 more weeks. I found out yesterday that I'm firmly in double digit territory (concerning my DD). I've still got so many things to do! It's getting soooo real
I was in a wedding this past weekend and the DJ crushed it. I was out there dancing for most of the reception and only stopped a few times for quick sit-down and drink water breaks. But I got so many compliments from other guests (some of whom I didn't even know) just telling me they loved that I could still party and have fun. I love dancing at weddings, and I think my LO is a party girl for sure since I had a ton of energy that night.

I've had two friends give birth to their babies >2 weeks before their due date in the past couple weeks. Both FTM's of baby boys. I was already starting to get a little freaked, then I saw the birth announcement thread pop up. AAAHHHH!
@wabash15@clovelyone Dittoessss. Not ready at all. I'm already so uncomfortable despite minimal weight gain and baby is kicking SO LOW. I'm sweating bullets every day she's going to be like I was and make a grand debut several weeks too soon.
Did we ever vote on the August siggy challenge? Or vote on a September one? I realize it's halfway through the month, but I'm forgetful and a slacker, haha.

I am so far from being ready, it's a freaking joke. I just need to keep these babies in until at least 35 weeks. 36 would be best. Stay in there babies!
I got nervous when I saw the post that maybe someone went into labor super early! Hopefully everyone gets to cook their babies a bit longer before we actually have anyone go into labor!!

Anyone that has been holding off on a second seat kit for a City Select stroller, GO TO AMAZON NOW!! A few select colors are on stupid sale (including the black on black frame!!) for $84!!!!
@Tennis11785 I know several ladies in real life whose babies came really early and/or were hospitalised, because doctors feared their babies would come early. I didn't mean to scare anyone on this board, but their stories were the reason I starter the thread (another BMB had their first (early) births and their thread hadn't even been stickied yet).
@MJDsquared Why? Why? Why? I'd love a maternity shoot, but I'll pass on the bees. Thank you very much.
@splsmama2016 such a great deal! Our City Select is charcoal and they don't have the matching kit! So sad!

@FakeFinn - It definitely happens and I'm on board with getting the thread started. I'm just glad it was started out of preperation and not because someone was actually in that situation!

Does anyone know how to get more fine-tuned data on the popularity of a baby name? DH & I both like the name Leila/Layla, but it's kind of popular, at least at the national level. I'd love to know if that name is MORE or LESS popular in our area. We're not looking for a super-unique name, but we would like to avoid having our child having to go by "Leila B" or "Leila 2" throughout her schooling.
@MJDsquared Haha my favorite part of this is the top comment at the bottom - perfectly encapsulates my feelings
I mean...I could see going through this much effort if you love bees the end result was some super cool photograph. But it's literally a photo of a woman half-laying on the side of the road getting eaten by bees. I mean seriously, it looks like an outtake from The Walking Dead
I wasn't sure where to put this but I have a baby shower menu question. My sister is doing the classic chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, and I think she's also planning on veggie and fruit trays. I'm just wondering if there's a green salad that would go well with all this? Would a spring mix with strawberries, oranges, and just a little goat cheese go (totally out of season but my favorite salad)? Anyone have other ideas? Is there a vegetarian filling we could put on croissants, like a caprese croissant? (Normally I'd let the host decide but I have a food allergy and am familiar with other family members' dietary requirements, so my sis has insisted I give some input). TIA!

@amber_waves As a Leila myself it blows my mind that my name has suddenly become popluar, since NO ONE had my name when I was growing up! Based off the list @lavashiner provided, Leila was not on the list at all for CT in 2016 and Layla was ranked at 31.
@Amber_Waves Babynamewizard used to have a Name Mapper that was the tits, but unfortunately it's down while they update it I'm pretty sure it was just the SSA data through the years but in a prettier/more interactive format. Here's the link if you want to keep checking https://www.babynamewizard.com/name-mapper

if you go to social security administration's website, you can see popular name lists based on year, decade, state, territory etc. (based on registered births within the US - anyone that filled out a birth certificate)
@leilagphillips quick question to you, as a Leila... are there other names that sound like yours?
for example, if I was trying to figure out how annoying it would be to be named Ella, I would also check the popularity of Stella, Isabella, etc.
Also, any words that it sounds like? My brother Ben says it can get a bit annoying to have a name that is a common word, "he's already been to the bathroom." (Depending on accent people sound like they are saying Ben or Bean in that sentence.)
I got my Tdap yesterday. Pro tip: Choose the arm you DON'T sleep on (since we're all supposedly sleeping on our sides by now). This sounds so obvious, and yet I managed to screw it up.
