Those chocolate advent calendars are the BEST. I am excited to do it this year with DD.
Santa in our house always brought our biggest/most fun present (and it was never wrapped). He also brought the stuff in our stocking. All the smaller/wrapped gifts came from my parents. That's probably what we will do, if only to have one less thing to wrap:)
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
kyrwyn. And doing it around Thanksgiving is a nice tie into that holiday as well. I might just need to steal it! We also did the Xmas PJs that you opened the night before thing. My husband and his family think its SUPER weird....I don't care; I'm still doing it with my kid!
I'm not one to really like the presents all Christmas long, but I like the idea of celebrating Christmas all month long. For example, I have a Christmas book that has 25 different Christmas stories and you read one each night. All are pretty short and you can certainly read them year over year. It's not 25 new books each year. It's the same 25 stories each year.
As for the Elf, my sister has one for her kids, but it is a strictly well-behaved elf that does not necessarily move every night. Her point, and I think it's valid, is if the elf is there watching the kid, why does it get to be bad? What type of example does that set for the children.

@Tennis11785 THAT has always been my questions with the elf! If he's allowed to run around like a crazy hooligan and get into crazy situations, what example are we setting for the kiddos.
AFM - I have honestly no idea what our holiday traditions are going to be, but I admit that I LOVE the idea of donating old clothes and toys as a holiday tradition.
My UO - I do not like pregnancy. I do not like this one bit. I have been in one form of pain or another since before getting pregnant, thanks to IVF. I have been miserable, exhausted, and just worn out the entire time. Four trips to the ER, and two additional last minute checks in with the doctor, on top of going to both the OB and the MFM every four weeks are just too much. On top of all of that, last night my lovely mutt labrador jumped on my belly chasing the cat. She is no longer allowed on the bed, but after that happened, I had five contractions in an hour, some severe RLP and couldn't feel him move for almost an hour. I went to get checked out this morning and baby is great, but really?! Why can't this part be easy when the actual act of getting pregnant was neither easy not enjoyable.
So yea. Thumbs down to pregnancy.
Disclaimer - I love my son. I love him more than I have loved anything in my life and I am over the moon excited to meet him in 2.5 months. But none of that makes this process enjoyable.

@txmomma16 - I agree with you! This pregnancy hasn't been anywhere near as hard for me as yours sounds like it's been for you, but I'm still not loving it. My grandma emailed me a little while back waxing poetic saying, "don't you just love being pregnant and feeling the baby move and everything?" I never responded. How do you say, "actually, Grandma, on the whole it kind of sucks. Not really a fan." without sounding super bah humbug?
@txmomma16 - hugs, girl. Sorry its been a rough road. @marley629 - I can see the cover but I don't have a clue about the name. I'll report back when I unpack for the holidays!

Dd's god mothers sent her a chocolate advent calendar last year. She was 4 months old so I got to eat it all. I guess this year I may have to let her have some ><

@rebeckyjoy oh girl I am so sorry you're miserable. It's definitely not a competition and miserable is miserable. :-( Here's hoping the baby years are somehow easier than this... maybe? Well at least then we can drink wine...
