Has anyone taken Benadryl in the first tri? The inside of my nose has been swollen for a few weeks now. I've had mild to moderate nasal congestion since before I got a positive test and now that I am having swelling I'm afraid I'm heading towards a sinus infection. I am have been taking Unisom so I'm not adverse to taking meds but I'd rather not add anymore medicine if I can help it.

@ashleyf911 I read some reviews before I bought one and it seemed like the sonoline B was the most recommended, so that's what I ended up with. I've been happy with it.

Thanks!! That's the one I pulled the trigger on, should get it tomorrow. Glad to hear you like it!
I was waiting to get a "cavity" filled until summer break, and then when we got our BFP, I decided to wait until this baby is born. Mine is more preventative, but the area will become a cavity sooner or later, so it's a preemptive filling, which makes me feel better about waiting. My dental office did a temporary fill when one of my fillings came out one time, and it lasted for quite awhile. I'll have to do x-rays with this one before the fill it, and I guess I'm more comfortable waiting. I imagine that most of what you might need to do could be postponed if you're comfortable with that, but it really sounds like as long as you are properly covered, you should be fine!
@becausescience no to the xray, my mom is a dental assistant and takes the xrays and every time since I was 16 she asks me if I'm sure I'm not pregnant before she takes them haha!
@k318, you're cooking? I can't stomach cooking. Tonight I made spaghetti and green beans. That was the most I've "cooked" in probably 3-4 weeks. It's bad.
@jessbruxanovaa I was told it's more about ventilation and I've been getting my nails done religiously! Brush my hair once a week but nails are always looking pretty
@becausescience Unfortunately I had a dental X-ray because it couldn't be avoided. I had to have a double root canal while pregnant. My OB had told me it was more dangerous to have 2 bad teeth than the x-ray, but I don't know. They did a different type with less radiation and i of course had to wear the cute little pelvic skirt. They took 1 X-ray instead of the two they probably needed.
@k318 I cook and can't eat it but I swear my nine year old is going to be a fully trained chef by the end of this. Last night I got nauseous cooking hamburger so he finished it. But I do agree that my tastebuds are so off. I think things taste good and everyone else thinks they are salty. Every night I cook and almost every night I make myself something else. My husband has decided to do a cleanse and is only eating veggies, fruit, quinoa, and lentils for 2 weeks and then can add in some meats.
What brand skincare products are people using? I have been using Eminence Organics for years and really love the products, but it's SO expensive and I'd like to find something more affordable. I'm of course looking for something as natural/safe during pregnancy as possible. Looking for cleanser and day/night creams, eye cream in particular.
Is it safe to continue getting your nails done every 2 weeks while pregnant? Like should I wear a mask too? lol clueless.
I got mine done every 2 weeks my first pregnancy. I never worried, and the only time anyone said anything was when I was 40 weeks and the woman said she didn't want to massage my feet too firmly for fear she'd send me into labor. I was like "IM FULL TERM! PLEASE SEND ME INTO LABOR!" No such luck, I was induced at 41 weeks.
@pbtoast People would tell me the same thing and I reacted the same way!!
Also, bc I am cheap, during my first pregnancy, I stopped using my expensive but amazing skin care products. It took some time to switch over, but now I mainly use African black soap or.honey soap, jojoba oil and other random oils on my body. So help me, my face and skin looks better than it ever did!
@pbtoast I don't know if they had an eye cream or face cleanser, but I'm a big fan of Udder Delight for soap and face cream. I don't think their products are USDA certified organic because they're a small company but pretty natural, mostly goats milk, and they have good customer service you could call and ask about their ingredients. For face wash I use Apivita, which is I think 98 or 99% organic--Greek company-- not cheap but I'm hooked now and can't use other face washes. They have a great makeup remover too.
If anyone is interested in a more natural nail polish and remover I LOVE Karma Organics.
I used to use dermalogica but recently switched to neutrogena naturals cleanser, moisturizer and night cream. So far so good! I was also sick of spending so much money on the other brand.
I know this can be an annoying question, but I'm still going to ask...
i have a potential work work trip to the Florida Keys in December. Is Zika still a concern? I'm leaning towards going but using mosquito spray and trying to cover, but I don't want to be stupid either.
@JamieK1882 I live close to the prominent Zika zone in Florida and the general idea around here is that Zika isn't as much of a high alert threat. Unfortunately, the CDC website isn't as helpful as I would like, but here's what everyone says -
If you're going to come down here, especially after first trimester, just wear bug spray and enjoy yourself. And if your partner is coming, they need to stay Zika free, as well.
Side note: Im not saying I'm an expert just bc I live here, just telling you what the medical community down here says.
@barrelocarol thanks that is helpful! We are going to do it, and I'll definitely take the precautions. I did check the CDC Zika map, and it said the "yellow" zone was removed in June, so hopefully it stays that way!
