@RC1014 - so cute! One of my best friends is doing a woodland theme, too.
Our original theme ideas were: floral (Rifle Paper Co inspired), tropical (flamingos and pineapples), fairytales, monsters (we have some really cute prints already that would work well), and Harry Potter.
I was really interested in doing a Harry Potter nursery but the room is so dark already (it's navy and I love it so I refuse to change the color) and I feel like HP as a theme lends itself to a lot of dark materials and stuff and I just didn't want it to feel too heavy.
Sooooooooooo anyway, we are doing a floral flamingo nursery! Flamingos are a big thing with us but I want to mix in some floral prints, too. The main colors will be navy and pink with a few other subtle blues and greens. Here's the super low quality MS Paint mood board. Hopefully it isn't huge here.
We already ordered the curtains and once we start working on the room this fall I'll order the flamingo prints (from etsy) and the quilt and then we'll start getting furniture closer to the due date. I'm hoping we can get a good deal on it around the holidays. We also bought this "mounted flamingo' from Target and hung it on the wall to see how it looks and even though I wasn't sold in the store, I really love it.
We're going with these crib sheets from Target which I think will be adorable to double as a backdrop for monthly photos.
I bought a vintage dresser to use as a changing table that will need to be refinished to get it the color I want and we're 100% getting the crib in the picture I posted above.
The only things I can't figure out are whether I want the glider in gray or beige (leaning toward beige) and what rug to get. The room is carpeted right now but we're ripping that up and putting down laminate. I can't decide if I want a floral rug or something simple. Thoughts?
For DD's nursery I used prints from theanimalprintshop.com (I highly suggest looking at it if you are an animal). I'm going to do it with DS as well. I'm a huge animal right's activist, and even if they don't go all in, it's important to me that my children appreciate animals... so I'm starting them young. However, we are getting new carpet in all the bedrooms on August 22nd, and then the planning will REALLY begin. Thinking about this deer print, a baby tiger, and one other animal... So excited for this thread, ladies!
@gusgus14 YES! If this one was a girl, I was for sure doing something with flamingos! Have you seen the Jellycat flamingo. DD has it and I am obsessed:
@auntieraindrop I say go for it if that's the theme you want to do! I've bought several dinosaur/monster clothing items out of the boys section and we're having a girl haha
@gusgus14 I LOVE that dresser! @auntieraindrop You could just do some "frillier" touches later if you think it needs to be girlier? that lamp is adorable!
We're doing a travel theme for the nursery, I found a Rifle Paper Co calendar on amazon (which is sold out now but its this one https://riflepaperco.com/2017-bon-voyage-wall-calendar/) and we'll frame the pages, they're whimsical enough to be for baby but will grow with him I think. We're looking for a good world map/US map that we can mark the places we go with him after he gets here too. I'm not planning to do a whole lot, but travel is such an easy thing to pick up random items here and there I think we'll end up with a lot of cute stuff!
@JuliaGoolia719 one reason I like the dinosaurs idea is because I think it will last them a good few years, into school age, I would think. We don't have a ton of extra money, so if I don't have to redo the room for a while, so much the better.
@JuliaGoolia719 - thanks, me too! It has so much storage and I love the line. There are more drawers inside the cabinets and it was $100 under what I budgeted! Also, love your travel theme and super love Rifle Paper Co anything.
@auntieraindrop the best part about dinosaurs is that they can be any color you want. Like spray paint them all in metallic colors! Cut some Dino's in half and hang their tails on the walls as coat hangers (after spray painting of course). I may steal your idea, because my imagination is going nuts...
As you can tell it will be a woodland nursery theme but pink and teal/turquoise throughout. I really wanted to make the regular woodland work but everyone...and I mean EVERYONE in my family will buy them pink blankets and décor so I bit the bullet. This is just a little of my inspiration with white furniture of course.
I love all yours ladies! Dinos, Zoo/Safari, Boats, Flamingos and tropical! I may try and sneak a pineapple or two in there just because I love them, it'll be an ode to their grandmother (DH's mom) (she'll love it too!) and....they're on sale all the time at HomeGoods and TJMaxx.
@libbberty Target! It's not the one we originally picked but once I decided on a wood toned dresser instead of white, I went on the hunt for a new one and I love this one.
These are so cute! DD's room is navy, mint, gold and pink. We're hoping to move in Feb or March, and even then the kids will share a room so I haven't decided what to do yet for decor. But I'm loving all of your ideas! @gusgus14 the flamingos are amazing! I would definitely go with the beige glider, and a floral rug would go well with the crib sheet.
(I don't have time at the moment to find all the pictures, so I'll edit this later on or do another post when i can!)
For the dresser and cribs, we chose the Kendall line in white from Pottery Barn Kids. We're painting the walls a cool grey. We bought a dark-ish grey plush-like/(shag-like?) rug from Ikea, as well as a small round white rug to put under the rocking chair (since wood on wood isn't the best idea for upkeep/avoid scratches!)
The bedding is going to be nautical themed; the boy's will be light blue and navy, and the girl's will be pink and navy. We haven't gotten to thinking about accessories or wall decorations yet, but we will get there eventually...
Love all these ideas, cute cute! @JuliaGoolia719 we're doing a travel theme too! That calendar is adorable. Right now all I have is this sign I made but planning to use gray and mint as the main colors, maybe with a couple gold accents.
@jakobaby love it! We almost got those curtains, too. Did you see they also have a changing pad cover that has a floral print on top and the gold polka dots on the bottom?
Cute ideas!! My son's room (13 mos) is woodland themed (picture below) and this is another boy so we'll be keeping the nursery the same. We're thinking of doing a ninja turtles theme for the toddler and move him into the guest bedroom. Or vintage comic books or video games for the theme but most likely ninja turtles. My husband loved them growing up and they still seem fairly popular. btw the previous owner of our house painted the trees for her son's room and we thought it was too cute and kept it
I did a gender neutral peter rabbit/garden theme for DS1 and liked it so much we kept it for DS2 and will again for this baby too. Walls are getting repainted right now, but once I reset it up I'll post pics. We moved DS2 in his new space room (pics to come once art is hung) and DS1 has a nautical theme, pics below. (ETA DS1 has a bunk bed now, these are old pics from our old house, but otherwise room is completely the same, including a duplicated stripe wall.)

@gusgus14 awesome! Making it easy for me. @KatieEl I saw that damn bunny and knew I had to have it regardless of price. I'm glad to know it will be worth it. The boys room is really cute. I think boys rooms can be hard to do. I'm having anxiety about redoing DSs room now that he's a big boy. This is DSs nursery from our old house if anyone is in need of some boy inspiration.
Loving this thread! So many cute ideas. You ladies have good taste! Okay, so I need help. This LO will eventually be sharing a room with DD. Her room is pretty girly, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to incorporate some "little boy" accents into it without having to do a complete overhaul. I'm thinking about making a little nook for him? Or decorate one wall to be more "boy." Thoughts? Here's what DD's nursery looks like currently:
@cyanope omg that room is darling! I actually don't find it to be too overtly girly? I think if you subbed out the pink throw blanket on the chair with an aqua one (or a less feminized color) and switched up the gallery wall art (adding one or two boy prints) that would get you most of the way there. Maybe swap out a couple of the bird prints with prints that have less pink in them and plain glass knobs on the dresser in that same aqua as the lamp instead of the more floral ones? I actually think a couple small switches will be all you need. (Which is good, because that room is so cute!)
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@cyanope I agree that it doesn't seem overly girly. In fact I feel like it's already pretty gender neutral with a few minor exceptions here and there. I love it regardless!

I love this idea @EmilyLove25 - we are going with an ocean theme for the twins room so i'll have to see what animal options there are... !!
@EmilyLove25 Omg, those are so cute!!!
We are doing a zoo animal theme with navy, grey, silver, white pieces and dark wood furniture. Here's our inspiration pictures.
@gusgus14 I'd do the beige too to lighten up the navy!

Light pink, white, gold touches.
But, I'm going with sophisticated and glam floral.
Pink, black, white and gold.
